EMBARKING ON A PROUD NEW ERA FROM THE PRESIDENT

PRAYER FOR GENEROSITY Lord, teach me to be generous. Teach me to serve you as you deserve; to give and not to count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labor and not to ask for reward, save that of knowing that I do your will.

When I say that I am as proud as a peacock, there is definitely humility interwoven with this statement. A Jesuit education and a quarter-century as a professor and administrator at Saint Peter’s College have taught me much about the qualities that are necessary and important as we move through life, improving our own lives and the lives of those with us in the world. I have learned well the importance of the fundamental principles of the Jesuit mission, as proposed by St. Ignatius, founder of the Jesuits. Those principles – most notably, care for the whole person, service to others and academic excellence – have provided the foundation for the kind of education offered at Saint Peter’s College since 1872. In the past year, since my inauguration as 22nd president of this great institution, it has been my privilege to work with a dedicated faculty, an enthusiastic staff, committed board members and loyal alumni; together, they have ensured that our foundation remained strong while we moved forward, setting new goals. The accomplishments that you will read about on these pages are the result of a partnership that also includes an incredible student body that is engaged in the life of the school and the community that surrounds us in the state, the nation and the world. There is an infusion of enthusiasm and energy at the College. This past year has seen improvements in the academic, environmental, and spiritual elements of our community and curriculum. At Saint Peter’s College, we are proud that we are embarking on a new era and we are humbled by the rich heritage that we were given to build upon. Recently, I read in a prominent newspaper that there is a Peacock Revolution on the horizon, but we are far ahead of the trend at Saint Peter’s. Our mascot has never stopped cheering. The Prayer for Generosity, which you see here on this page and throughout this Annual Report, was written by St. Ignatius in the 16th century. I offer it today in appreciation of your generous support of our College and our students. Thank you.

Amen. St. Ignatius Loyola Founder of the Society of Jesus

Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D. President
