Health Science Honors Program Gains Hands-On Experience at Ursuline College On Tuesday, Health Science Honors Program students took a field trip to Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio. Students started with a basic introduction to the college and moved to the nursing education labs for some hands-on activities. They worked with catheters and IVs on mannequins.

4th Annual Catholic Education Scholarship Giveaway In keeping with their commitment to support Catholic education, Ohio Catholic Federal Credit Union will be awarding $35,000 in Catholic elementary and high school scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year! Scholarships will be based primarily on financial need and awarded in $1,000 increments. Click here to read more about this scholarship application and its process.

Students March for Life

Name: Katelyn Hampu '17 Accomplishments: "I found out about the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Cuyahoga County from my Junior Shadowing experience, where I spent three days there for my Junior Shadowing project," shared Katelyn Hampu '17. "I thought the opportunity to be a part of the ADAMHS Youth Advisory Council fit my career interests, so I decided to apply. I think the biggest reward of serving on the ADAMHS Youth Advisory Council will be helping those who struggle with mental illnesses by speaking out and raising awareness. I'm thankful to be able to make a difference in an area I feel so passionate about and have personal experience with," shared Katelyn. Activities & Interests: Katelyn is the Vice President of the Dance Team, plays spring volleyball for the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and writes for the Cleveland Odyssey Community. Her interests include dancing

Students at the 2017 March for Life

More than 30 students traveled to Washington, D.C. last week to walk with an estimated 600,000 others in the annual "March for Life." Participants in the national rally joined together in prayer and unity. The students, members of Catholic Schools for Peace and Justice (CSPJ), were accompanied by CORE Ministry teacher Mr. Dan Guion, Math teacher Ms. Suzanne Smiley​-Rozic, Math teacher Mrs. Colleen Ross and College Counselor Ms. Maria Mueller.

"I have attended the March for Life two times now. People from across the nation with various backgrounds gathered to be a voice for the voiceless. The March for Life advocates for those who are the most forgotten and marginalized in our world today," shared Riley Justice '17.

Catholic Schools Week Appreciation for a Faithfilled Academic Environment Saint Joseph Academy, as well all Catholic schools nationally, concluded this week's celebrations of National Catholic Schools Week. The weeklong event is in recognition of the components that make Catholic schools special. The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2017 was "Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service." Attention Senior Parents: Josten Graduation Orders on Monday and Tuesday Josten's will be here on Monday, February 6 and Tuesday, February 7 during all activity blocks to take orders for graduation caps and gowns. Seniors with last names A-L will order on during activity blocks on Monday, February 6. Seniors with last names M-Z (or anyone who missed Monday) will order on Tuesday, February 7. There are many things to order including graduation announcements, invitations, etc. The only thing that you must order is your graduation cap, gown and tassel! Questions? Join Us at Celebrate the Academy! Join fellow members of the SJA community to "Celebrate the Academy" on Saturday, February 25 at SJA for the annual gala to benefit academic initiatives and scholarships. This year's theme is "All That Glitters is Purple & Gold." Event chairs are John & Andrea Ham P'18, Michael and Lisa Adkins Lonsway '84, P'18, and Patrick and Camille Sheehan P'18. "Celebrate the Academy" begins with cocktails and a silent auction at 6 p.m. Dinner, followed by a live auction, starts at 7 p.m. For more information or to buy tickets, click here.

Strongest Programs: Nursing, Musical Theater, Architecture, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising Fun Facts: KSU is the only institution in Ohio to offer a degree in Library and Information Science and has claim to famous alums including Drew Carey, Arsenio Hall and author of Captain Underpants, Dav Pilkey.

Celebrate that special bond between fathers and daughters on Saturday, March 4, at the annual Father/Daughter Dance. The dance is open to all grade levels and will be held at Brennan's Party Center, 13000 Triskett Road from 6-11 p.m. The evening includes dinner, dessert and beverages. Entertainment will be provided by a DJ, and there will be a photo booth to preserve the night's memories. To RSVP, please complete the form here and return it to the school office by Tuesday, February 21 with a check made out to SJA. Sports Highlights Basketball The basketball team had the opportunity to play at Quicken Loans Arena, home of the NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, January 27. The Jaguars outscored the Leopards 12-5 in the fourth quarter and received clutch free throws from Claire Orsagos '17 en route to a 47-39 win. With the victory, SJA is now 14-3 in the season. The Jaguars were led by Colleen Drellishak '17 who had 12 points, including three three-pointers. She has now hit eight three-pointers in the last two games. Forward Colleen Neitzel '18 scored 10 points while Orsagos and Molly Dever '18 added six. Ellen Vichill '17 had five points while Molly Neitzel '19 and Bre Coleman '18 each added four. The Jaguar pep band will debut during the varsity game versus Padua Franciscan (Senior Night) on Wednesday, February 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Swimming The swimming and diving teams competed at Mayfield High School on Wednesday evening and fell to the Wildcats 123-51. Highlights for the Jaguars included: Brittany Miller '18 won the diving competition Maddy Kelly '20 won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:13.03, again breaking the school record Paola Camacho-Colon '19 finished third in the 50 freestyle and second in the breaststroke
