Identity, Print Design, and Web: Downtown Brantford BIA

I did a complete brand redevelopment project for this downtown business association, including a community-driven feedback and review process, logo variations, print materials, branded online Google Apps setup, and two website projects. The final web project, nearing completion and pictured below, includes a geo-based photo gallery system, interactive map and dynamic business directory mash-up.

Identity, Print Design, and Web: Downtown Brantford BIA

Helping with the Arts Block’s initial visioning stages, I created this visual identity for them, including business cards, a parade banner, and branded web presences, including Facebook page, WordPress blog, Twitter account, and branded Google Apps. Additionally, I have created a new website for them with a new visual identity for their “Arts Block 2.0” launch later this fall: www.brantfordartsblock.ca

Social Networking Site Design: The Localmotive

Complete design of an “online community arts centre” — which included commissioning and directing the downtown photo shoot, developing the logos and brand, crafting the interface (no pre-fab elements.) The site mixes Facebook-style social network features with custom features for musicians, artists, and writers to promote and hone their crafts. (Currently in development / coding stage.)

Web Design: Fellowship of Faith for the Muslims

I completely revamped this Toronto charity’s visual identity and website, using a fresh, clean layout and colour scheme, bringing back their own classic hand-drawn watermark as the new organizational logo. The site uses a custom PHP/MySQL content management system which is built to make maintaining the site easy for non-technical staff. Visit www.ffmna.org

R!"#$$!%&'()#%* While there are many buildings that have played a large part in the history of both Brantford and the!country, we acknowledge that in order for the downtown to be revitalized some will likely need to be sacrificed. However, many of these are simply good buildings under tacky veneer, and some have fascinating and important histories. The Heritage Committee recognizes that saving stand-alone buildings may not always be practical for a!number of reasons. Considering that, the Heritage Committee advises that the City keep at least two blocks of buildings! on the south side of Colborne Street, and elsewhere save good buildings where possible. This solution would provide plenty of room for complimentary!contemporary uses, while still maintaining the uniquely historic character of the downtown core. It would also provide loft type housing, a varied streetscape and small quirky!spaces for individual entrepreneurs.

This concept drawing of the south side of Colborne Street focuses on the block fronting Harmony Square. We have shown what the streetscape could look like if the buildings are cleaned and rehabilitated. Notice how the existing architectural details of the buildings come to life. Note that the YMCA, only its entrance is on Colborne Street. The storefront spaces to the sides of the entryway are separate retail space to ensure an uninterrupted and varied flow of retail activity along the street.

Print Design: The Local Answer - Campaign “Newspaper”

When I ran for city council in 2006, I put together this newspaper and distributed it to roughly 10,000 of the homes and businesses in my ward. After reading it, John Tory, then leader of the Ontario PC Party, said via email: "One of the best local election brochures I have seen. I would like to have an opportunity to meet Adam sometime... he is clearly very impressive." Layout done in InDesign. Download and view PDF.
