He reveals that he can in fact be “very insecure about many things.” Continuing, he explains, “When you come from a simple background, you have to believe that life is luck and up to a higher power.” As with other aspects of his personality, Wolf’s humility finds its way into his designs. It’s in the tall windows, left bare to greet the rising sun; the concrete floors, polished to a high sheen so they will feel cool and smooth on unshod feet; the lampshades, color coordinated so they blend into walls that seem to stretch as far as the deserts of Namibia. n
