Pour moi, cette photo représente un prétexte pour mettre en avant les changements actuels en Birmanie et l’omniprésence de l’icône diplomatique Aung San Suu Kyi dans les rues de Rangoon, sur les T-shirts, les affiches, etc.
In my view, this photo is above all meant to represent the current changes and the fact that the diplomatic icon Aung San Suu Kyi can be seen everywhere on the streets of Yangon on T-shirts, posters and so on.
J’ai pris cette photo à Rangoon, alors qu’Aung San Suu Kyi était en pleine campagne pour les élections partielles du 1er avril. Sa décision de briguer un siège au parlement est un symbole des changements politiques spectaculaires qui ont cours dans le pays.
I took this photo in Yangon, while Aung San Suu Kyi was continuing a very public campaign ahead of the April 1 by-elections. Her decision to stand for a seat in parliament is the latest sign of the dramatic political changes taking place in the country.
Pour moi, une bonne photo c’est une photo qui accroche votre regard et vous émeut. Pour moi, être photographe c’est être travailleur, créatif et plein d’idées. Il faut aussi être autodidacte, ne pas se laisser influencer et savoir résoudre les problèmes. J’ai besoin d’être tout cela dans mon travail. Pour moi, le meilleur photographe est James Nachtwey. En fait il n’y en a pas qu’un, je tiens de nombreux photographes en très haute estime, mais Jim est un ami et je le place tout en haut de la liste.
I believe that a good photo visually grabs you off your feet, and moves you to look at it. For me, being a photographer means being hard-working and creative. It means being an ideas person who is also a self-starter, one who doesn’t take no for an answer and is a good problem-solver too. This is what is necessary for my job. In my opinion, the best photographer is James Nachtwey. Actually I don’t have just one favourite photographer. There are many that I hold at a very high regard.
