PIRGspectives Fall 2017

Street Tree Project 2017 Chelsea Lowes hit the streets of Hamilton’s Homeside neighbourhood to get more trees in the ground, &, as the 5th spring of the Hamilton Street Tree Project concluded, we have 30 more tree requests! This brings the total number of free street trees in Hamilton’s least leafy areas to 275, trees that will help clean the air for generations in these lower city regions experiencing higher than average air pollution. OPIRG hires a student each summer after a successful pilot project in the Keith Neighbourhood in 2013, allowing this award winning project to keep growing. Read more about the project on the Hamilton Street Tree Project blog at hamiltonstreettreeproject.blogspot.ca
