We Went Wild

They went wild…

The artist and his protégée. The master-printer and his apprentice. They are a generation apart. They are father and son. They are Agugn Prabowo and his child Lino Apta. They are from Bandung. They go places – together, Lino Apta the kid and his dad.

And they went wild…

They went wild…past tense? Nostalgic melancholia before the bell rings? Yes, indeed. Each moment could be gone, faded in a fleeting instant.

Going places – walking on pins and needles in anxious anticipation of what might be ahead on the road along their meandering journey.

The caring parent ultimately wishes to protect the child from – potential – harm. However, a sensible parent also recognizes the paradox: the limits to shield a child from harm.

Still, yet, the joy, the laughter, and, also, the charm of the unexpected that’s all part and parcel of unconditional love.

Wild, wild, wild…

Printmaking is an excellent medium to express and foster the father-and-son bond – a bond cultivated on hand-made paper, meticulously printed on, using the techniques of respectively linocut, to print Lino Apta’s bold lines with bright colors, and letterpress, to print Agugn’s contemplative responses in fine, black lines.

Wild, yes so wild…
