Safety first! • Ensure the vehicle is securely chocked on level ground before working underneath. • Be sure to wear safety glasses or eye protection. • Make sure to double check all bolts for proper torque. Fig 1 – A piece of plywood protecting the radiator.

Reassembly con’t. Reinstall the alternator-mounting bracket and tighten the bolts to 40Nm (30-lb.ft.). Reinstall the accessory drive belt tensioner and tighten to 45Nm (33-lb.ft.). Reinstall the valve covers using new valve cover gaskets, and tightening the bolts to 8Nm (6-lb.ft). Remove the plywood placed to protect the radiator. Refill the engine with manufacturer specific engine oil, and properly refill the cooling system using properly concentrated coolant / antifreeze to distilled water ratio of 50:50 (fig 13-17). /// Fig 15 – Installation of the intake gasket.
