Dear fellow Rotaractors, Dear friends, This year European Rotaract Informa6on Centre marks its 25th anniversary. Year by year, ERIC is catching up with our age, it has grown tall, strong and handsome in the process – with over 40 member countries and over 110 districts, E.R.I.C. is the biggest Mul6district Informa6on Organisa6on in the Rotary world. During that 6me E.R.I.C. has created a big informa6on stream between member Districts and countries, it has encouraged interna6onal project making, it has awarded some of the finest projects of the Rotaract world, it has organised one of the biggest Rotaract events in Europe. Last, but certainly not least, it has created many real interna6onal friendships that would not exist otherwise. New friendships made through E.R.I.C. are in essence E.R.I.C. main tool of fulfilling it's mission and it is a tool that each and every Rotaractor can improve and add to. So make sure to go through the E.R.I.C. website to see ways of interac6ng on European levels, contact your E.R.I.C. Country Representa6ve, follow the news on E.R.I.C. Facebook page and make sure to join us on our pan-‐European conferences in Kyiv, Timisoara and Rome. Once you join the E.R.I.C. adventure, you will soon realize that your Rotaract world has grown a bit and doesn't include any more just your club and District but the whole Rotaract Europe. With best regards, Mikolaj Dragovic President of E.R.I.C. 2012/2013 European Rotaract Informa6on Centre

Dear Rotaractors from all over Europe, This year I have the chance to be the Vice President of the ERIC. But who am I? I got introduced to Rotaract in Barcelona, Spain. Here I was really impressed by the social project Gambasse that the club was par6cipa6ng in together with other clubs from the district: To see that even in our age you change the life of people who were not that fortunate. Another thing that I got to appreciate there and what I experienced as well in every other Rotaract Club I became a member of in the following years is the friendship. No maBer if it was in Barcelona, Zurich, Raleigh or Mannheim (my current club), in all those clubs I found friends that will stay a life long. These friendships all over the world exist although we have different cultural backgrounds, may have another religion or another poli6cal opinion. I think that this is the most amazing thing of such an organiza6on like Rotaract. Being a huge fan of teamwork and being convinced that this way we can achieve more than one alone, I am s6ll amazed to see that we, represen6ng more than 40 countries, work this well together. This should also be promoted in the interna6onal as well as in the European world of Rotaract and Rotary. At the moment a lot of people s6ll do not know that we exist and what we do. Of course, I also recognized that this year we have a lot of new Country Representa6ves who I would like to help to find their way around in the ERIC. Therefore, we will have in Kyiv a training not only for the new Country Representa6ves but also for the old ones. It is always good to have the chance to learn something new. Also this way we have the chance to get to know each other personally. Beside suppor6ng the president and the board and helping the Country Representa6ves and those interested in the ERIC, I also want to encourage the friendship and assistance across borders. As you read I already experienced this friendship and I hope that a lot of you will also make new friends from other na6onali6es during the upcoming events, such as the Rotaract European Mee6ngs, the European Conven6on or the Rotaract Pre-‐Conven6on. From what we have seen in the past, this way also cross-‐border social projects arise such as e.g. Rotaract Hearts to South Africa or Health as a gi@. Finally, I see the ERIC also as an informa6on source for interna6onal events/projects, a contact where you as Country Representa6ves or interested Rotaractor can turn to in order to find out of events which take place outside of Europe. This might be something like the presiden6al cita6on or a Roatarct tour through the US or the Interota which takes place in 2014. As you can see, there is a lot going on and I am sure not only on the interna6onal/european level but also in your clubs/districts/countries. Therefore, I am really looking forward to an exci6ng new year of Rotaract! Let’s all work together but also let’s not forget to have FUN!

A@er two years of represen6ng The Netherlands in ERIC, I decided to go for a new challenge. And I was elected as the new ERIC Secretary for 2012-‐2013. My plan for the coming Rotaract year is to inform the reps, to update the ERIC bylaws, to work on the Event Manual, to learn a lot and to have a lot of fun! Interview with Belal Al Ayoubi, member of Rotaract Club Tripoli-‐Elmina, Lebanon, Past DRR of District 2450

Belal, can you tell us about your du1es as DDR in Lebanon, as well as your mul1 district reality, & in your life? (I would like you to introduce yourself both as a Rotaractor & 'Belal' person) -‐-‐> opportuni1es, challnges, priori1es, events & what is Rotaract for u I was the District Rotaract Representa6ve of District 2450 which represents somehow the geographic area connec6ng Europe, Asia, and Africa. It includes 10 countries: Armenia, Georgia and Cyprus in Europe, Lebanon, Jordan, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and Pales6ne in Asia.. Egypt and Sudan in Africa. So as you can see it's a mul6country District with so many different spoken languages, backgrounds, and ethnici6es.. A great experience that you get through represen6ng it. I started 8 years ago as a member in Rotaract Club Tripoli El Mina, Lebanon and served as head of fundraising commiBee, Vice President, President, then Vice DRR (Country Rep), then twice on the RDC and last year as DRR. Rotaract represents one of the best learning experiences that developed a big part of who I am especially that I joined Rotaract as early as a member can join (18 years old) Is therea par1cular 'moFo' or service which inspire your district? The moBo of my RDC last year was "Be the Change" inspired by the Mahatma Ghandi and RIP Banarjee.. this concept spread a lot among Rotaractors and they were challenged to take ac6on and to "be the change" each one locally and together globally.. Tell me something about your past conference.

The District conference was the 35th District conference and it was held in Lebanon with the par6cipa6on of around 200 Rotaractors at least half of them from outside Lebanon.. So many different countries were represented namely: Canada, France, Switzerland, Tunisia, Libya, Costa Rica, Russia, and of course the rest of the District countries... It was under the 6tle "Peace through fellowship" whereby par6cipants had the chance to experience Lebanon like Lebanese.. ea6ng, drinkng, touring, partying, and much more!

What about your plans for the project of mediterranean MDIO? (I knews something about this, and I really love the idea. I think it would be very interes1ng and useful) MED MDIO (Mediterranean MDIO) which is currently in its prepara6on phase whereby Rotaract clubs and Districts from all around the Med sea, including yours shall come together to form an MDIO to share projects, knowledge, and fellowship. A lot is shared between the Med people but a lot is more to discover.. MED MDIO can be a great partner for ERIC and promote all ERIC events in these countries.. It can also share and learn from ERIC in terms of best prac6ces and products.. newsleBers and so on.. This is something that needs to be part of the plan of MED MDIO and endorsed of course from ERIC as per Past ERIC president Darko and current Miko Do u have any other project to make together with ERIC or some of european projects which u would like to propose in Lebanon? 2) Rotaract Academy. I have started the prepara6ons and actually launched this academy to be an equivalent to the Rotary Leadership ins6ture which trains Rotary members and leaders on basic and advance knowledge. Training curriculums are being placed and surely rules and procedures. RIP Banarjee showed interest in this project and many other global Rotary leaders. It is very promising if it becomes a collec6ve and coordinated effort.. and here again ERIC can play a posi6ve role.. Thank you so much for your 1me, Belal! It was so interes1ng to share some ideas with you. Hope to meet you again in Timisoara & in Rome!

Rotaract in Austria Country Representa6ve: Stephanie Mezler-‐Andelberg

AUSTRIA The future of Rotaract Austria Rotaract Austria is looking forward to improve our interna6onal connec6ons as well as our communica6ons and social projects. We also want to join our rotary governors slogan „Peace through engagement“. Our country is divided in two districts 1910 and 1920. Last year Croa6a and Slovenia became their own districts and separated from us. We hope to keep in touch with them and to hold on our friendship. Bosnia s6ll share with us district 1910 and we are really lucky about that. This was shown at our last rotaract mul6district-‐conference in Vienna, on which we welcomed many of our bosnian friends. For this reason we are looking forward to the next conference in Bosnia, on which we also want to invite rotaractors from other countries. Last year our districts project called “ Ich helfe laufend” (I help with running), became a huge success, which we want to con6nue this year. It is a charity run, which has the social and charitable idea to support the future genera6on. For this reason we sponsored the social club and kindergarten “Libelle”, which helps au6s6c children. This year we are s6ll searching for another project, which we can support. Our country is also interested in the interna6onal projects like RFPD, with which we are already connected. In the sense of the rotary slogan, Austria is really fascinated by the Peace projects and by the possibili6es to implement them. For this reason we are looking forward to the Peace Forum in Berlin this year. We hope for an produc6ve and bright rotaract year, which offers many opportuni6es for engagement, interes6ng topics and interna6onal friendships. Sincerely yours, Stephanie Mezler-‐Andelberg

Rotaract in Azerbaijan Country Representa6ve: Fa6ma Agasiyeva

AZERBAIJAN Azerbaijan is part of the District 2430 which also includes Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Coopera6on between the countries within the District is quite close. ABendance of annual District conference has become a good tradi6on and an opportunity to meet fellow Rotaractors, make friends, share knowledge and experience and simply have fun. We also receive visits from District Rotaract Representa6ves every year during which we update the District of our ongoing projects and plans, hold joint mee6ngs and seminars. Ini6a6ve that proved to be very successful in the past was organiza6on of various trips. Last year Baku Trip 2011 resulted in Twin Club agreement with Bishkek Rotaract Club (Kyrgyzstan) and a joint project “Crea6vity without borders” that was rewarded as the Best Interna6onal Project at Annual District 2430 Conference held this year in Bodrum, Turkey. The par6cipant clubs were Rotaract Club of Baku (Azerbaijan), Rotaract Club Moscow-‐East (Russia), Kiev Mul6na6onal Rotaract Club (Ukraine), Bishkek Rotaract Club (Kyrgyzstan) and El Tahrir Rotaract Club (Egypt). The aim of the project was to draw aBen6on to children's crea6vity, the na6onal culture of different countries, as well as raising funds for the development of crea6ve abili6es of children. It was an interna6onal project, combining charity with the development of friendly rela6ons of Rotaractors of the world. Handicra@s made by children from orphanages were exchanged and sold in 5 countries. Under the moBo “Make your contribu6on to the development of children's crea6vity!” clubs organized the sale of gathered cra@s at a series of auc6ons. The project was successfully completed and delivered its original aim. Sale of the cra@s let the children know that their work is appreciated and mo6vated them to work and develop their skills further. And amount raised was a small contribu6on to the achievement of this goal. Project also was a great contribu6on to the cultural exchange and development of friendship between Rotaractors of the world.

We gather once at the end of each Rotarian year for our District Conference-‐ which this year is in Cyprus-‐ to share our success stories and increase the fellowship and promote good will. Each country has its own VDRR that facilitates a communica6on between the DRR and the rest of the District. There is also the rest of the Rotaract District CommiBee where there is a Director for Community Service, Professional Development, PR, Interna6onal Service, Club Service and there is a Service Project Coordinator.

DENMARK The Danish Districts Despite the 6ny size of Denmark, there are five districts in the country which are 1440, 1450, 1460, 1470 and 1480. Rotaract Denmark has a na6onal support team/directory called DANIO (Danish Rotaract Informa6on Organisa6on) whose assignment is to help the clubs in every way possible. E.g. by facilita6ng the cross club/cross district collabora6on and the collabora6on with Rotary. DANIO is composed by the five district representa6ves, the country representa6ve, a treasurer, a secretary, a vice president and a president. The communica6on between the clubs and the districts therefore primarily goes through DANIO and through the respec6ve district representa6ves. Furthermore, communica6on also flows between clubs and districts during our na6onal and district conferences.

DENMARK NaKonal acKon plan to meet Rotary InternaKonal strategy plan Currently, our biggest challenge in Denmark is that doing service projects and joining “service above self” ac6vi6es is not something that is very well implemented. Regularly, Rotaract mee6ngs are so called network mee6ngs where a lecturer gives a presenta6on on something relevant to the club members. Therefore, our focus at the moment is to meet the goals and the strategy plan of Rotary Interna6onal and get Rotaract “back on the Rotaract track”. This year the most important assignment that DANIO has, is to talk to all clubs about Rotaract and everything the organisa6on entails. We have arranged for a road crew to drive through the country and join all the club mee6ngs, instead of just informing clubs by wriBen communica6on.

,+))-(.$# / '#' ' $+ &( ())1 +#& +0$

The aim with the road crew’s mee6ngs with the clubs is that all clubs by the end of the year will have a long term ac6on plan ready in order for Rotaract Denmark to meet interna6onal Rotaract standards the next couple of years.

We are going to help kids to understand the importance of a healthy nutri6on and to know what is good food. Furthermore, we are exercising with kids to communicate them the fun of sports. One main ac6on is to make a shared breakfast with kids, Rotaractors and teachers. We prepare faces with vegetables on breadslices, to mo6vate kids to eat vegetables for their breakfast and packed lunch. Furthermore, we sponsor fruit deliveries for schools, so that pupils can enrich their meals. In addi6on, we make aware, that it is very important to drink water. Therefore, we set up drinking fountains in schools to provide free water for children. Every Rotaract club can organise its ac6vi6es on its own, so it fits in every clubs live. These na6onal projects are always very successful: also ShelterBox was brought to Germany as a na6onal project J The RDK can also be found here: hBp://www.rotaractorwiki.org/wiki/RDK

Rotaract in Greece Country Representa6ve: Carolos Antonios Vidalis

GREECE

Dear fellow European Rotaractors,

Greece is divided into two districts: the “south” D2470 and the “north” D2484. The second one is a newly formed district, because that part of Greece used to belong un6l a couple of years ago to D2481, which also included Serbia, FYROM and Montenegro. Currently, the “north” district (2484) has a number of ac6ve clubs at the city of Thessaloniki, as well as others at the island of Corfu and the ci6es of Kozani, Komo6ni and Ksanthi. The “south” district (2470) has a number of ac6ve clubs in the capital of Athens and at the islands of Syros, Crete and Rhodes. Rotaractors from all over Greece meet once per year at the Pan-‐Hellenic Rotaract conference, which is hosted alterna6vely by the two districts. Last year this conference was held at the historic venue of Defloi and this year’s conference is likely to take place in Thessaloniki. The two districts have very good communica6on between each other through their DRRs. The rela6onship between the two districts is enhanced because of the size of our country and the mobility of Greeks within it; some Rotaractors may visit other clubs when on business or on holiday. This creates powerful bonds between the two clubs and has some6mes provided the opportunity for common projects. The most important challenge Rotaract in Greece is currently facing is the fact that a small number of clubs have lost their good standing status because of lack of members. Nevertheless, others have increased membership and have organized impressive projects, which is an encouraging sign. The most important advantage of Greek Rotaractors is a growing number of genuinely interested and capable young people, who –if supported correctly-‐ could form the basis of promising leaders for the future.

This is a „don’t drink and drive” campaign that is actual in every country over the world. The board decided that the main issue for the next year is to increase the Rotaractors number. Rotaract in Italy Country Representa6ve: Cecilia Garrone

ITALY Despite its slender geographical dimension, Italy is a very heterogeneous Country and a lot of different habits and cultures coexist in the same territory. This peculiarity appears clearly in the sprit of several ac6vi6es and services performed by Rotaractors. I must admit that I have been really honoured a@er my nomina6on as E.R.I.C. Country Representa6ve, but in the very beginning I was also a liBle scared. No, I am lying. I was literally in6midated, because represen6ng Italy in Europe, means speaking and ac6ng in the name of more than 7.000 members of more than 400 Rotaract Clubs exis6ng! Properly fulfil this role considering such a giant number of Rotaractors is a true challenge, but, luckily, even if I am the only Italian Representa6ve within European Rotaract Informa6on Centre, I am not alone in this adventure. In addi6on to the other 39 European Country Representa6ves, I have the opportunity to collaborate with 10 precious Italian assistants. Italy, in fact, is divided in 10 Districts: star6ng form the North-‐Western side of the Country, District 2030, and ending to the South-‐Eastern coast, District 2120. Each District is held by a Governor, named District Representa6ve, elected every year by the Presidents of the Clubs of each District. Within every District there is a special figure, chosen by the D.R. and called "District E.R.I.C. Delegate", which helps the Country Rep.'s job. Thanks to this capillary structure, the aims of E.R.I.C. can reach every single Italian Rotaractor; this system works even the other way round, because the District Delegate communicate to the Country Rep. every interna6onal proposi6ons carried out in its specific region, the interna6onal twinning and every other events and services in order to acquaint the rest of Europe. Our trips also deserve a specific men6on: the oldest Rotaract roundtrip takes place every year in District 2030 since 1981 and the brand new Coast-‐to-‐Coast trip is held within District 2070 and it is ended just a few days ago. Another special master plan will be carried out at the end of this month: a Border trip organized between Italian District, 2060, and the Slovenian one, 1912. This is such an innova6on in terms of interna6onal coopera6on among Countries that another edi6on is already going to be prepared for 2013! In this flurry of ini6a6ves, the task of a good Country Rep is to coordinate the news, specific needs and sugges6ons coming from all over the Country and to convey them to the Board. It’s a 6ght teamwork that permits to our prolific Rotarac6an Na6on to make its voice heard. I hope I have passed, in this few lines, at least some of the passion and the ac6vi6es that swarm in Italy. I promise that in the next 365 days I will do my best to achieve this important assignment, trusuully given me by Italian D.Rs., according to the Rotarac6an a€tude of growth and sharing. Yours in Rotaract,

At Easter Rotaractors went to local nursing home. They spent the whole day together with old people rolling eggs, guessing riddles and remembering tradi6onal Latvian sayings about Easter. THE NETHERLANDS MDIO The Netherlands Rotaract The Netherlands consists of 7 Rotary Districts. Each District has around 7 Clubs. Since 2009 there are no separate District Boards anymore. Each District has a representa6ve, who is a member of the Dutch Rotaract Board (Contactorgaan Rotaract Nederland: CRN). The Dutch Rotaract Board (CRN) has 7 members, due to the 7 Districts. Their main task is to spread informa6on, make a newsleBer, organise several events and keep contact with-‐ and give advice to the clubs. There are four annual events organised for the Dutch Rotaractors. In October the new Rotaract year is started with a mee6ng and an ac6vity, every year organised by another Club. In December is the 6me for the Rotaract Christmas Gala. In April takes the Assembly place, a Rotaract training day. And the year is ended with the closing mee6ng and a Beachvolleybal Tournament, organised by Rotaract Scheveningen. Summer 2012 the second edi6on of the Holland Rotaract Roundtrip took place. Seven Rotaractors from all over the world visited Amsterdam, RoBerdam, Utrecht, Deventer and Groningen. Several ac6vi6es were planned, they par6cipated in a project of Rotaract Club Amsterdam, visited the Euromast in RoBerdam, had a canoe trip in Utrecht, took a boat trip in Deventer and learned how to brew Dutch Liquors in Groningen. Rotaract in Portugal Country Representa6ve: Joana Pires

PORTUGAL

Portugal:

In Portugal we have two districts, 1960 and 1970. The district of 1970 has 25 clubs, and 1960, which I belong to, has 16 clubs. The two districts communicate mainly through the districts representa6ves, but we also encourage the clubs to communicate with each other and join in projects. We (the districts representa6ves) encourage clubs to choose projects to accomplish during the year and try to provide them ideas. We also encourage them to par6cipate in projects that have more impact when done together. One example of these is the “Caps’ Project”: we collect as many plas6c caps as we can from drinks, detergents, etc and the recycling companies give us monetary funds in exchange, which we use to buy some kind of orthopedic material that a person needs. For you to have an idea 1 ton of caps equals a wheelchair. Then, in each district, each club has different projects, but if we see we can adapt those projects to the other district we do. I depends more how we can make it work in a determined city or place than from the districts’ borders. Some examples of that are collec6ng of food, trips with orphan children, second-‐hand books sales, health workshops, etc. Every year, each district has its conference and, besides that, we also have a na6onal congress for everyone from both districts can discuss ideas, exchange contacts, plan projects and get to know each other. The congress is really the place where you have more people from both districts together, but in the events of one district, there is usually a group from the other district present and many of us (portuguese rotaractors) have friends in the district that isn’t our own. I finish by reminding everyone that on June 2013 we will be hos6ng Rotaract Preconven6on and Rotary Conven6on in Lisbon. I hope to see many of you there. Best regards,

RUSSIA EUCO, Moscow, Rotaract… Strive for one aim, believe in success To any challenge we always say “Yes” Friendship forever, we are together (Hymn of EUCO 2012 Moscow)

A@er two months without EUCO members of Host Organizing team, volunteers and par6cipants are sharing their emo6ons and views about conference. What event during EUCO was the most memorable for you? Nina Ivanova, volunteer: The most fantas6c event for me was Gala dinner. It was one of the most solemn and brilliant nights I’ve ever aBended. When I saw the presenta6on of best social projects it forced me to feel the importance of Rotaract and wish to join this organiza6on. I was proud to be at the one scene with Organizing CommiBee under the applause of almost 700 guests. And I do think it was a fantas6c idea to start a tradi6on to hand over the EUCO cup to the next host. It makes this role more special and important! For me as organizer the most exci6ng and important event was Opening ceremony. First of all it was first event. Secondly flag ceremony is always s6rring and responsible. Opening ceremony was made with great support of Moscow government that made EUCO 2012 an important event in city scale and helped to popularize Rotaract.

I heard that Russian girls specially prepared for the ball aBending dancing classes for 2 months before EUCO. Beau6ful evening I will never forget. What problems did you face during EUCO? Rimma Gayfullina, organizer: We prepared informa6on leBer for par6cipants that included many 6ps concerning behavior in Russia, way from airport to hotel, currency etc. Unfortunately the majority of quests didn’t read it that caused too many addi6onal ques6ons. Alyona Adankina, organizer: One of the most serious problems was the deficit of budget. EUCO fee was ini6ally not enough to cover all costs required. Moscow is very expensive city, searching sponsors are not so easy but we tried to do our best to op6mize the budget and hopefully made this event true. We tried to aBract sponsors who provided us with water, welcome packages, sim cards and other things. We applied for help for Rotary clubs. The most important thing we could do it despite of all financial problems. Rimma Gayfullina, organizer:

Many people registered and came for EUCO were not Rotaractors and were not even touched with Rotaract and Rotary spirit. Therefore EUCO was taken like travel agency organizing trips but not as Rotaract event dedicated to unite youth leaders all over the world.

What do you think is it important to organize post and pre EUCO trips? Alyona Adankina, organizer: I’m absolutely sure that post and pre EUCO trips are very important and useful for foreign quests. Post and pre EUCO trips in Russia allowed people from different countries to touch the Russian culture more deeply and visit more ci6es in host country. We invited 60 Rotaractors for pre and post providing them with the great opportunity to visit second capital of Russia, north pearl of our country – St. Petersburg.

What did you learn from EUCO? Rimma Gayfullina, organizer: We understood that the organiza6on of such global event requires constant involvement of all members of OC and working as one team. We learnt to set priori6es, be responsible and study on our own mistakes. It was our first experience in organizing such huge event. Successful or not -‐ it’s judgment of par6cipants. At least we hope that the following lyrics of EUCO hymn will always ring in EUCO par6cipants’ heads: We must stand together With smiles and open hearts, Hand in hand forever,

Rotaract in Slovenia Country Representa6ve: Barbara Gradišek

SLOVENIA Rotaract Slovenia D1912

DRR: An Krumberger, RAC Nova Gorica ERIC country representa6ve: Barbara Gradišek, RAC Ljubljana Past DRR: Anton Gradišek, RAC Ljubljana DRR-‐elect: Nika Anžel, RAC Ljubljana The year 2011/12 has been the first year for Rotaract clubs of Slovenia as an independent district, 1912. Before, Slovenia used to be a part of a mul6district 1910-‐1920 that also encompassed Austria, Hungary, Croa6a, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first club in Slovenia was chartered in 1994, RAC Ljubljana. In the following years, the number of cubs increased to 6 (RAC Maribor, Celje, Grosuplje, Nova Gorica, and Novo mesto) with two more clubs in process of being established (RAC Ajdovščina and Žalec). We expect even more clubs to join the Rotaract family. At the moment, there are around 120 Rotaractors in Slovenia. There are two district (and also na6onal) conferences taking place every year, one in the autumn and one in the spring. At the first conference, the plans for the following months are unveiled while the primary purpose of the second conference is to elect the district leadership for the upcoming year. In 2011/12, the main focus was the adapta6on to the independent district, such as adop6ng the new district bylaws and strengthening the contacts with the neighboring districts and with Rotary clubs. Of course, clubs were ac6ve by organizing their local projects as well. The first conference of 2012/13 will take place this October in Nova Gorica.

Rotaract in Switzerland and Liechtenstein Country Representa6ve: Cloé Bernier

SWITZERLAND

LIECHTENSTEIN

Rotaract Switzerland My name is Cloé Bernier and I will be Country Representa6ve for Switzerland during the year 2012-‐2013. I am also the Interna6onal Services officer in the na6onal board. Rotaract Switzerland is divided in 3 districts : 1980, 1990 and 2000. This year, Rafael Liech6 and Carla Aeberhard will represent the 10 clubs of D1980. Demian SteBler and Mélanie Bianchi will represent the 5 clubs of D1990. Michael Schaffner and Simone Beit will represent the 8 clubs of D2000. The rest of the board consists in a Social officer (Epa Gousopoulos), a person responsible for Media (Tamara Koch), an IT officer (Daniel Bä€g, who is also the President of the board), and someone who takes care of Finances (Ruedi Bernegger). www.rotaract.ch NaKonal Project 2012-‐2013 The na6onal board (CRSL, CommiBee Rotaract Switzerland Liechtenstein) meets around 4 6mes a year in Olten, a city halfway from Basel, Neuchâtel and Zürich. During the first mee6ng, we decide on the program of the year. For 2012-‐2013, the social officer presented us a project called “ein Ar6kel mehr” (“one more item”). The goal for Rotaractors will be to stand in front of grocery stores and ask people to buy “one more item” that they will give us a@er their shopping session. Then, we will send all the food gathered to a food bank. This will be our na6onal project 2012-‐2013. ShelterBox Swiss Rotaract Clubs will s6ll be able to support ShelterBox, especially during the ShelterBox Week, but it won’t be the na6onal project anymore this year. At the na6onal level, we think it’s beBer to focus on one specific project, and let the clubs decide on what they want to do besides it. On June 16th 2012, four clubs from different districs joined forces and organized a big balloon release, a sirup bar and make up for kids at the Childhood Fes6val in Cressier. A car wash and a street-‐barbecue were set up by other clubs for the same cause. ShelterBox speakers let us know that they would be available in case we wanted to do it again in 2013. No need to be a na6onal project for it to be supported !

LIECHTENSTEIN

Mine-‐Ex Mine-‐Ex is a project supported by several clubs in different ways. To raise funds, RAC Neuchâtel co-‐organized the 9th edi6on of the “Vélothon” (a bicycle tour, for which par6cipants look for sponsors for each kilometer) and a brunch with 8 Rotary clubs of the region, on August 19th. Next to that, members from all districts decided to par6cipate in a soccer tournament organized by RAC Glarus. This club won the Social Award with this event last year.

Club Events Those were causes in which several clubs are involved. Besides them, each Rotaract club has its own events. DRRs and DDRRs communicate about them at the na6onal level, during the board mee6ngs, President’s Mee6ngs (twice a year) and the yearly na6onal conference, called IDK (InterDistriktKonferenz). Since the Country Representa6ve of Switzerland is also the Interna6onal Services officer in the na6onal board, it is easy to be aware of what is happening all over the country !

Rotaract in Turkey Country Representa6ve: Rana Kesken

TURKEY Our Country; unlike some other countries in E.R.I.C does not have an M.D.I.O we have 3 different districts they are; District 2420, District 2430 and District 2440. District 2420; which covers 4 different ci6es and Istanbul has 39 Rotaract Clubs, District 2430 covers mostly the Anatolian ci6es including Ankara; our capital city District 2430 serves in 21 Ci6es and 3 other countries; Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. The total number of Rotaract Clubs in District 2430 is currently 55. And finally to men6on; District 2440; it serves in 9 different ci6es including Izmir as the capital of the Aegean and Bursa; one of the biggest and industrially developed ci6es in Turkey. The es6mated number of Rotaractors in our Country is about 2530. Here in Turkey and in our Districts we organize 2 main events. One of them is the grand District Assembly. In a District Assembly; all the Rotaractors from the District’s Rotaract Clubs gather to get the training for their du6es and posi6ons which they will start the next term. Mostly the total number of applicants to our District Assemblies are more than 400 and the maximum number is 750 as far. District Assemblies in our country is always educa6ve and fun; the program starts mostly on Saturdays with a Flag ceremony; the President elect of the Rotaract Clubs in the District carries the flag to the stage and this created a 6me to cheer fort he Rotaractors belonging to their clubs  The training session includes presenta6ons from the DRR, Coordinators and Vice DRR’s. And At the night the great Gala of the Assembly the Rotaractors enjoy the music and dance all together. Our District Assemblies are all open also from our Fellow Rotaractor Friends in E.R.I.C  And the other official organiza6on held by 3 of our Districts is The District Conference; also taking place in a Hotel the District Conference welcomes every year more than 3 Rotaractors. In a District Conference; we all evaluate how our Rotaract Clubs had passed a full term and at the night there is always an Awarding Ceremony no different than a night like the Academy Awards or the Golden Globes  It is also open for anyone who would like to join from other countries and Districts

The District Structure in both of our Districts are the same. The Districts in our country is managed and represented by our District Rotaract Representa6ve which is elected 1 year before he/she takes over his/her duty. The District Rotaract Representa6ve announces his/her District Officers in our District Assemblies with a ceremony or mostly with a theme video or a presenta6on; mostly funny and made for making people laugh The number of District Officers in our Districts are mostly between 17 and 21 people; chosen from the devoted Rotaractors in our Districts.
