1. Introduction • Architects: Kazuya Matsuda / Design nico Architect Associates • Location: Shirakuchi, Kurume, Fukuoka, Japan • Site area: 365 sqm • Floor area: 126 sqm • Built-up area: 101 sqm • Project Year: 2005-2006 • Photographs: Kousei Miyawaki & Kazuya Matsuda


2. Program A. Plan arrangament • A small house designed for an aged couple and their daugther in the rural landscape of Chikugo. • The program has a reflection of the traffic line,time and the place for which the family hoped to the living. • The house has a square plan of 10.8m*10.8m. • Each room arranged by a similar position to the exisitng dwelling dismantled to the plan. • The plan offers different scenary during daily life where past memories are mixed with new spaces.




2. Program B. Facades • The facade is a simple delta roof with a simple operation where the slanted roof with the building on the wall installed in a square plane. • The wall in the diagonal divides the plan of the first floor in two simultaneously with a constructional role as a public place and a private place. • A big sliding wooden door in the south, and scenery that feels rich nature extends there. • The concept is the blending between rural elements and minimalist style which give graceful impression.
