Bookkeeping and Accounting Skills Certificate

This series of classes will help the small business owner develop financial accounting processes or help the individual prepare for an entry-level bookkeeping position. Upon successful completion of the series of five courses, an RVC Skills Certificate plus a voucher for $50 will be awarded. The voucher may be used towards tuition for future Continuing Education classes or workshops.

Bookkeeping and Accounting I (1 Credit) This is a beginning course with an emphasis on a basic understanding of bookkeeping procedures and accounting principles employing debits and credits of double-entry accounting through the trial balance. Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared for a job as an entry-level bookkeeper, or an entry-level accounting clerk. Purchase text at RVC Bookstore. $110 10 Sessions Room 1300

Bookkeeping and Accounting II (1 Credit) This is an intermediate course in accounting that teaches accounting procedures and accounting principles for partnership and corporation businesses. Purchase text at RVC Bookstore (same as Acct. I.) PREREQUISITE: Accounting and Bookkeeping I or equivalent experience. Bookkeeping and Accounting III (1 Credit) This course will continue from Part II and include a complete overview of accounting for a merchandising business organized as a corporation. Topics include identifying different elements of a corporation (as compared to a sole proprietor and partnership), types of inventory valuation methods, distributing dividends and corporation financial statements.
