RVC Community Education Age Appropriate Guidelines: Community Education classes are designed for students of all ages. Age guidelines are stated with each class. ART Watercolor for Landscapes – Level I
Watercolor for Landscapes – Level III Explore Clay – Beginning Level
(Adult) This course is for students with little or no experience with watercolor. Learn to handle watercolor, practice basic textural techniques, and work on elements used in landscape paintings. BRING: a full 22x30 sheet of watercolor paper, a pencil, and a yardstick to the first class. (Adult) Learn how to break-down complex scenes into manageable sections as you create landscape artwork. Start by working together to complete a landscape painting. Progressively, students will work on class projects or their own designs. BRING: three plain sheets of paper, a pen, and several landscape photos to first class. Watercolor for Landscapes – Level II (Adult) Learn ways and methods to paint individual components of the landscape. Use the techniques revealed in Watercolor I, as well as methods for handling subjects such as trees, grasses, flowers, rocks, skies, water, buildings, etc. Explore creative applications of color, and learn tricks to correct paintings. BRING: your painting supplies and a few small sheets (7” x 11”) of watercolor paper to the first class. Students will investigate basic additive techniques in hand building (pinch, coil, and slab) and wheel throwing, as well as reductive carving and glazing methods. Watercolor for Still Life (Adult) This course is best suited for those who have completed the Watercolor for Landscapes Level 2 course. Design considerations of still life paintings and how to break down the scene to create setups in watercolor, will all be presented. Learn to create elements of the still life genre. Beginning Watercolor Painting
(Adult) Watercolor painting is a delightful experience! Acrylic Painting (Adult) Beginning thru advanced, create works of art with acrylic paint. Focus on drawing skills first, and then explore color mixing, materials use, and paintings of still life, landscape and abstract expression. This is a hands-on course; be prepared to get messy!
