Crafts continued Bling Bling! (Ages 7-12) Try a new spin for the “basic” candle holder. Start by painting and antiquing the container to create a base then add beads, shells and a variety of fun materials to it to make it your own. Work with local artist Norm Knott to morph simple jars and containers into blinged out candle holders!

Fitness & Dance Ballet I

(Ages 8-9 years old) First year ballet class. Dancers will learn discipline, basic ballet placement and positions, as well as fundamental movement patterns. Students will be able to audition for Rockford Dance Company productions including the Nutcracker. Students continuing in the spring will dance in the school performance. (Starts at age 2) Swimming can be used as a vehicle to bring self confidence, self esteem and safety to each child. This class offers an ideal learning environment – warm water, professional consistent teachers and small classes with four or fewer students. Attend one time a week for 30 minutes. Children not fully potty trained must wear a pool diaper – disposable diapers not allowed. Additional fee payable to Dolphin Swim Club at first class, $12-$15 for HD approved pool diaper. (Grades K-8) For those that have never played the game. Learn the names of pieces, how they move & basic rules of chess. MUST enroll by 8/30. Class level assignments subject to change at instructors discretion.

(Grades 3-8) This course will help intermediate and tournament experienced players improve their game. PREREQUISITE: RVC Intermediate I Chess class or approval by instructor. Whiz Kids presents a special event for the Holidays for all you K-8 students who enjoy a chess challenge. Holiday Chess is a chess puzzle solving contest with prizes and treats for all who enter. Students will solve a series of chess puzzles (such as mate in one, best move, etc.) earning awards based on how well they score. There will be chess games to be played following the contest and everyone will bring home a grab bag of treats. Knowledge of chess notation will help, but for those new to notation, assistance will be available. PREREQUISITE: Knowledge of the names of the chessmen and how they move and capture.
