Passionate about kiteboarding, since day1. When I saw my friend Manu Bertin get off at Grosseto (IT) train station with a snowboard bag with "a new sport" inside, I felt curious like a child in front of a new game that was never played before. It was 1995, and at that time "flysurfing" as Manu baptized it, was all to be developed. Only designing a kite that could water start and not being a "flying raft" was a real mission. Today, after hundreds of prototype boards and kites of all kinds, passion and curiosity for trying something new remains the basis for my R&D team developing kiteboarding products. If there is no such an expression of mixed happiness and pride on the face of our testers after coming off the water during a final testing stage, a product is not approved for production. This is not because it might not be as good or better than our previous models. Simply because until there is a "Kid’s smile" on the face of all those who make the final tests, that kite or board can not be considered a RRD production product. CLASSIC PU THE REAL SURF FEELING
The Classic PU construction has been developed to create pure surfboards for pure wave riding and to allow control over choppy waters. We have improved the weight and strength of the boards this year. We are now using a H1–volume lightweight pigment in the resin. This type of resin fills up the holes in the foam and reduces the amount of resin content in the glass fibers, making the boards lighter. The Classic boards have low fiber memory and low foam memory at the same time. This low memory gives our boards a proper surfboard feel. We recommend the Classic PU technology to the riders who love a comfortable ride which this construction provides through its flexibility.

The Wood construction is a totally new technology used to create our boards. It is a very special process created with HDT (High Definition Technology). The boards are molded in one shot. This means that all of the fibers and lay ups are in the mold at the same time. The boards are then laminated with an infusion process. Infusion brings the resin into the mold from the nose and is pulled through the mold towards the tail. By building the board this way, it is possible to use the minimum amount of resin. Less resin makes the board lighter. Because this construction is less labor intensive, it is possible to get a quality board at a fair price. The Wood construction offers full wood on both the bottom and the top of the board(deck). The deck of the board has a 90 degree alignment of the fibers, allowing for more flex compared to the bottom, therefore our Wood surfboards have a softer flex than most boards on the market that have bamboo. The wood construction is recommended to riders who want the maximum impact resistance from the boards.

LTD LIGHT AS A FEATHER
The LTD construction was introduced two years ago on our surf and SUP board range. Built with a lightweight technology that allows flex, control, and scoop-rocker line accuracy. The board is built with a CNC EPS core of 20 kgs/m3 density, then laminated with 200 grms biaxial glass fibers and finished with a 55 grams carbon net over a bamboo stepping deck vacuum glued onto the board at 90° compared to the stringer length so as to avoid excessive stiffness onto the board flex. So this construction is slightly lighter than the Classic PU, for about 300-400 grams, but the difference is not as much the weight, but it is stronger and has the EPS foam core. The EPS core makes the board more buoyant because the foam retains more air. TThe boards in the LTD construction feel alive! Not only because of their light weight, but mainly due to the added floatation. These boards were created specifically to ride strapless and are ideal for strapless freestyle. They are meant for riders that want a lightBOARD WEIGHT that can also be controlled at high speeds.

ROCKET V4 LTD+CLASSIC+WOOD
The Rocket is our board designed for freeriding and fast rides! This bullet is packed with speed, easy acceleration, early planing, and loads of control. Best suited in the flats, chop, or small waves, this surfboard will get you through those marginal conditions. The Rocket is a short board with a wide nose and tail, equipped with a flat scoop rockerline and more volume in the middle section. Thin rails and extra floatation also make this board excellent for strapless freestyle maneuvers and increases its lightwind performance. Rail to rail directional changes and high speed turns are much easier due to the Spiral V bottom, the deep double concave, and the squash tail.
Additionally, the back fins are at a 0 degree angle. This feature enables the board to be suited as a freeride board more than any other boards in the line. Unlike the front fins that are angled towards the nose to keep the nose of the board down, the back fins do not point towards the nose. This ensures that the back fins have no drag and they are truly free. The Rocket can reach more speed and go faster, hence the name of the board. POP V2 LTD+CLASSIC
The Pop V2 is the perfect stick to use when conditions are not ideal but you still want to ride strapless and practice those new freestyle tricks on flat water or small surf. Light winds? No problem. It’s a pleasure to ride the Pop V2 in light winds because it provides some meat under your feet to plane early. The additional volume gives you extra floatation that acts as a buffer if you are not an expert at tacking or trying your first strapless jumps. Landing jumps on this board is easy. The wide outline and our Classic or LTD constructions ensure forgiveness and durability. This shape is perfect for sticking new tricks and makes for a fantastic time on the water.
Inspired by the new mini-maxi surfboards, the Pop was designed around an entirely new outline base with a very wide mid point and a squared nose which increases the floatation potential on this super short stick. If strapless airs are your main focus, the very wide but gently rounded swallow/fish retro style tail maximizes the pop potential of this modern freestyle/surfboard shape. A slight tail lift on a very straight rocker line and a kicked nose on a constant scoopline, makes the perfect balance when mixing freestyle with surfing. SALEROSA V4 LTD+CLASSIC
The coveted Salerosa is back with a splash of some bold new colors. The Salerosa was developed over the years for onshore conditions but from the V2 onwards, we moved it one step forward as a pure, all-round ripper from knee high to triple overhead waves.
This board has a quad fin set up and was developed by Abel Lago. The quad fins make the V4 go fast down the line, gives it a tight grip on the wave, and makes it incredibly maneuverable. Combine this with a similar rocker of the Maquina, but using slightly more tail kick, and finished off with a squared-swallow tail; the result is a magnificent board that can dig deep, pivot on a dime, and break the fins loose off the lip for some legit kitesurfing!

A new collection of surfboard and kitesurfboard fins is now available in four different sizes: S, M, ML, or L, both for thrusters and quad set ups. Designed with a thicker profile and built with a stiffer layup and technology than the RR pro model fins, these fins deliver a great amount of drive through a wide base design combined with the new construction. More appropriate for powerful riding and plenty of speed, when precision and predictable behavior is essential. Any thruster set up can be modified into a quad setup simply by buying a rear quad set, using the thruster side fins as the front fins.

EBO DING ABEL LAGO; HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT FINS
The fins of your surf board are like the wheels for a F1 race car, depending on the conditions you will use different type of thickness, size or flex. The fins that you will use for your board depend on your weight, style, and especially the conditions you are used to riding in.
The RRD edge fins are the perfect compromise between a good flex and rigidity. RRD fins have the right balance between a very flexible fin, for cold water and a stiff fin for warm water. I am used to changing fins depending on the wave size; using big fins for big waves and small fins for small waves while trying to keep same style and flex to be sure I have control at high speeds down the line of a big wave or quick turns when the waves are small.
WHICH SIZE TO CHOOSE?
The size of your fin will depend on your weight, skills and the size of the wave. I will only ride L fins in big waves to have more control and slow the board down. When you ride big waves, the board goes really fast because the waves are faster so what you really need is control and to be able to slow down. Big fins are harder to turn but on big waves your turns will always be wider so I would totally reccomend Large fins. In small waves it is always better to use small fins that will make the board more loose, playful, and easier to turn quickly.
THRUSTER OR QUAD?
Well, this will be a personal choice. I am used to riding everything. Lucky me: I have almost the entire RRD board collection in my car and will choose a thruster or quad depending on the conditions. I am a goofy rider and used to riding backside. Depending on if it is onshore or sideshore, I will choose either a thruster or a quad. For example: If I have onshore conditions where the water will be choppy I normally ride Salerosa 5’8 with quad fin size M or the COTAN 5’2 with the same fins, because with the quad setup I have more control and speed in my switch position. But if conditions are heavy or more sideshore I will go for my Maquina 5’7 and 3 fins, because then I will start to ride more frontside and what I need then is an easy board that turns quick. When I ride frontside I prefer to use the 3 fin set-up with side - or on-shore conditions. I will only use Quad setup if the waves are small or for strapless freestyle because with 4 fins you accelerate faster and this is what you need.

Some of our high-end boards come out in a LTD construction which consists of Biaxial Carbon layers on the top and bottom of the board with a special mix of Pawlonia and lighter weight wood, CNC shaped core. It’s 20% lighter, thinner, more responsive, and, of course, provides loads of pop due to a higher memory of the Biaxial Carbon fibers. Which makes the board full of energy. These premium products provide you the most dynamic ride.

The Wood construction consists of a CNC shaped Pawlonia wood core with a deck and bottom biaxial glass lay-up. A new lamination technology, incorporating unidirectional carbon stringers and a 3D shape, results in less negative flex and more rigidity. This combined with slightly more flex from the top results in more explosive pop, increased speed and control, and reduces vibrations.

The new Rad Pad and strap system was designed to offer the maximum amount of comfort and adjustability, ensuring perfect balance on the board. It was built around an HT Nylon skeleton frame that is molded inside a DUO Density EVA core base. The core base guarantees the correct amount of stiffness, a secure hold, and a firm grip. Equipped with an adjusting system that allows micrometric accuracy in all directions and angles, it is possible to trim the straps position, angle, and size to any desired specifications. We want to approach kite foiling the most natural and easy way to provide riders from all kinds of levels with the best possible experience. From our experience most of the new foil riders start foiling by borrowing a friends’ high performance hydrofoil and always have a very hard time. Because of this difficulty, some may feel like this is an impossible sport. The best way to get into this discipline is with the proper equipment. After two years of extensive testing we have developed a hybrid foil that incorporates a strong, durable, cost effective 80cm aluminium mast and fuselage paired with full Carbon changeable rear and front wings.

Introducing the RRD H-Flight freeride hydrofoil with 80cm mast and Aluminium fuselage After more testing, research, and feedback from our global team riders, we have decided to incorporate our hybrid foil with a shorter 80cm aluminium mast (instead of 90cm) paired with an Aluminium fuselage (instead of a Carbon one). The changeable Carbon rear and front wings are unchanged.
We decided to use an 80cm ‘Full Flight' mast to cater for those riders that are afraid to hit sandbanks and/or coral reefs at low tide and also for the simple reason that 80cm is long enough for free riding purposes. We decided to go for an Aluminum fuselage because it proved to be stronger, lighter, and is more cost effective. To reduce the learning curve and to make Kitefoiling more accessible to everyone, we will still offer the two different additional mast lengths. These two optional masts, the 40cm “Take Off” and the 65cm “Touch & Go” together with the standard 80cm mast, make up the “RRD Aviation Academy Package” and are ideal for schools and/or beginners. These two short, optional masts, are available as spare parts and can be sold separately. The Behavior of our Foil set-up is very, stable, predictable, and reliable, which is why it has gained worldwide recognition and such great test results from the magazines. We developed each foil component on the basis of the technology integration between Aluminium design and pre-preg Carbon. So, we wanted to have a combination of these composite materials to create a very reliable, lightweight, but still strong and affordable foil system. We have decided to go for a 4 hold plate on the mast, because it is the safest system. With 4 solid screws you can also move the foil back and forth, depending on your skills and level.

To reduce the learning curve and make Kitefoiling accessible to everyone, we also offer two different additional mast lengths to the standard mast as an optional ‘RRD Aviation Academy’ package for schools and beginners; the standard 90cm ‘Full Flight’ mast is included, and the optional 40cm ‘Take Off’ and/or 65cm ‘Touch & Go’ masts are available as spare parts.
One of the most important things is having a wing and fuselage that allow the perfect balance in between your feet. This balance will provide a progressive entrance to foiling, not a difficult one. The front wing, fuselage, and rear wing, enable the foil to rise out of the water progressively, smoothly and at the right speed. This characteristic increases the stability of the foil and also allows it to easily go down wind, which is essential. Starting with a shorter mast length will also aid to the progressive entrance into kite foiling. Our really short, 40cm mast (‘TAKE-OFF’ level), is designed to develop the necessary skills to come out of the water, to get the feeling of a foil under your feet, and the way you position your body on to the board. The reaction to the foil is also exactly the same as the full height mast and will allow you to come out of the water, but not at an intimidating height. Once this stage is mastered, it is time to move to a new level, which is the 65 cm mast that allows more of a lift above the water.
The 65cm mast (‘TOUCH & GO’ level) provides the full foil feel for the first time without being too intimidating. This stage of the progression process can last anywhere from days to weeks, depending on your personal skills and available time. Once comfortable with the foil in many different conditions without issues, it is time to progress to the full length 80cm mast.

The Dolphin1 is a full composite board with a wood deck and bottom, it has PVC reinforcement under the heel area and a special shaped full concave deck. It allows your feet to be completely pointed down towards the nose and the middle part of the board, A correct foot and legs position is what you want to have when you foil. The rails have a special pronounced tucked under edge bevel, which reduces the impact when you come down from height. Touch downs are very smooth when the board makes contact with the water and allows you to quickly get up and go again, opposed to nosediving. The Dolphin 1 also has a thin volume that helps the board stay light and easy to manage. All of these characteristics are perfect for a freeride shape. The size is 160x52cm so it is balanced for riders of any type of height. Depending on your skills and preferences, the board has a mast track system that allows precise tuning of the foil and also around 10cm of foot strap adjustments for both the front and back foot.

Multiple points of connection provide a multitude of adjustments to the flying characteristics of the kite such as depower, bar pressure, turning speed, and turning radius. These changes affect jumping, kite loops, slack, drift, and water relaunch.

Radial Canopy reinforcements around the trailing edge of the kite, are positioned in a way that intersects the Techno Force Double Ripstop. We have an elastic rope connected to the pigtails of the backlines that stretches up to around 20cm, this makes sure that your backlines are always slightly under tension when you depower the kite due to the slight delay it creates. It was a big challenge to make this kite without pulleys and a short bridle but the result is a kite that feels really easy and fast in your hands. The new Passion is my all terrain kite which I can use for freestyle, high jumps and playing around with my twintip but I also enjoy it in the waves because it is really fast."

"The all new designed Passion lightwind! The new Passion is performing really good in all kind of conditions and styles! The tenth edition of the Obsession blends the previous Obsession and Obsession Pro into one freestyle machine. KITE ARD JULIEN LELEU ABOUT THE OBSESSION MK10 KITE: What I love about the Obsession MK10 is that we as pro-riders can ride it as a 5- line kite and get the full freestyle and wakestyle performance out of it, but at the same time I can let riders during my coaching clinics or my dad for example use it for doing some big airs, work on their freestyle progression and slash a couple of waves down the line and they would ride it on the 4 line set-up which takes just a couple of minutes to switch around, this way we get best of both worlds, which is amazing.
Next to that I just feel super confident on this kite, I ride it a lot in 4 line set-up myself as well. I broke my knee in the past while doing a megaloop, but with this kite I am back in throwing big loops again, cause I trust it and know it will always come up after the loop

In the 5th line configuration, the kite will be more powerful and it provides a ton slack! When using the kite fully powered up, you can easily unhook and get a very neutral feel throughout the trick while the kite remains in the correct position. RELIGION MK8
Synonymous of WAVE in the international kite language, the Religion MK8 kite is constantly evolving along with the kitesurfing discipline. Improving the already successful Religion each year has become a real challenge. We went back to the drawing boards and started to design from scratch to once again deliver the best wave kite out there. The MK8 has a new shape, shorter bridles, and has a higher aspect ratio, especially on the bigger sizes. This improves the kites upwind ability and turning speed significantly. The kite is really fast with more round, powerful turns, and light bar pressure. Unlike most fast turning surf kites on the market, the Religion MK8 still maintains its signature pull that helps get in a few extra turns down the line. As always, we built this kite strong and it can take a pounding. The graphics of the Religion have allowed us to create a web of Dacron reinforcements on the canopy that give the whole structure of the kite an incomparable rigidity. This wave proof construction is made up of 40% heavy duty Dacron fabrics and 60% of a lightweight double ripstop D2 Technoforce canopy. This unique mix is used only in the Religion kite, creates superior crash resistance, and extends the lifespan of the kite.
The new Religion MK8 allows for a wider range of use both on the high and low end of the kite. Faster, better lift during jumps, outstanding drifting characteristics and an enormous progressive de-power that will stop the kite power or power up exactly when you need it. RIGID THREAD LINES
In addition to the new features, the ‘RRD Global Bar V8’ is still equipped with special lines called "RIGID THREAD LINES". These are used exclusively on the RRD bars with great success for over 7 years. A product that’s now widely tested around the world, but there is little known about the details by kiteboarders.
All our lines are produced and developed in Italy, with a worldwide patent granted only to RRD.
The ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ are the result of the collaboration with an Italian manufacturing company that has more than fifty years of experience in the processing of lines and ropes, using the most recent and innovative exotic fibers, combined with an intimate knowledge of the physical and mechanical properties of Dyneema.
WHY ARE THE ‘RIGID THREAD LINES’ DIFFERENT?
The difference of our lines is that conventional Dyneema braided lines also have excellent breaking resistance characteristics, but can’t keep their original length when under tension. This is due to their entirely braided structure that sees the fibers being crossed over each other with an angle of approximately 30° compared to the load angle (0°). Once a conventional braided line is under tension its fibers will tend to align towards the load line and progressively start to stretch. A conventional braided line will stretch up to 10% of their original length when under load. (so a 25 meter line can stretch up to 25 cms) Imagine by comparison the ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ like a widely used electric cable. Core copper wires are covered with a plastic protection sock. In the ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ copper is replaced by unidirectional Dyneema pre-tensioned fibers instead of braided fibers, covered (like the plastic part on the electric cable) with a very thin braided Dyneema sock to keep the internal non-braided unidirectional fibers in place and protecting them from abrasion. This allows to create an absolutely direct connection between the bar and the kite, since what connects them together is an unidirectional non braided fiber core.
For this reason our exclusive ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ have a maximum stretch of 0,1% (so a 25 meter line can stretch up to max. 2,5 cms). The ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ of RRD Kites will never be subject to adjustment, since they won’t even stretch under stress-related moves, for example by extreme loops or other radical manoeuvers, and consequently it is impossible to end up with stretched lines and/or of a different length and therefore the trim of the kite remains unchanged through the years. The ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ will always be visually, technically and feeling compact and rigid throughout the course of their lives, maintaining all its physical and technical characteristics unaltered over the time.
The standard braided kite line has more stretch, which results in different line lengths, power absorption and reduction of performance, especially at the moment where you change the direction of the kite, where the load of the lines reaches its peaks.

EBO DING Another weakness of the standard braided line that ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ have turned into a strength are unchanged compactness of the line. Any new conventional line, has a rigid and compact character because of the resin (generally polyurethane-based) that encompasses it. This resin has a very short life and after only a few sessions, the touch of the product is softer.
This translates into a series of annoying consequences such as: • The softened lines are more subject to unwanted knots. • The protection of the line is reduced after each session. • The braid tends to open and it becomes more fragile, allowing the entry of water which will create small salt crystals inside in case you kite in salt water, which can impair the bearing structure of the line.
WHY ARE RRD KITE LINES INNOVATIVE?
Unlike standard braided lines, the unidirectional structure of ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ provides a fiber memory that is significantly more efficient. A standard braided line under stress combines all 'dynamic elongation’ of the fiber and flattening of the braid, whereas the core unidirectional structure uses exclusively the elastic modules of the fiber.

The new HP1 pump is a multiple inflating system pump that can act in two modes: Mode 1 or HIGH CAPACITY mode, or double action mode of 2,3 +2,3 LTS where you can inflate your kite from 0 up to 8 PSI of pressure. Mode 2 of HIGH PRESSURE mode or single action mode of 2,3 LTS, where you can pump up to 13 PSI of pressure.
