The Colonials enter Saturday’s game against the Bulldogs winners of eight straight games at Joe Walton Stadium against NEC foes dating back to the 2009 season. RMU’s last loss at home to a league opponent came Sept. 26, 2009, when Bryant posted a 20-13 win over the Colonials. Robert Morris continues its two-game homestand after squaring off with Bryant Saturday by hosting Sacred Heart in a Noon kickoff Saturday, Oct. 29. Quick Stat of the Afternoon - Both of RMU’s touchdowns in a 28-17 setback @ Albany (10/15) came courtesy of junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair, who connected with sophomore wide receiver Donte Jeter for an eight-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter while also rushing for a 17yard touchdown in the games waning seconds. 2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Bryant (10/22/11) - Page 3

Head Coach Joe Walton 18th Season - Pittsburgh ’57 At the forefront of the football renaissance at Robert Morris University throughout its 18-year history is Joe Walton, who has built the Colonials from a fledgling program into one of the top Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) teams in the region. The one constant associated with the program, Walton was named the first head coach July 27, 1993. He started the program from scratch, completing everything from hiring assistant coaches to purchasing equipment to recruiting student-athletes for the team’s inaugural season in 1994. Walton’s fingerprints are all over the football program, and to prove that, RMU has played its home games since 2005 in a stadium that bears his name. During his tenure, Walton has led Robert Morris to the first Northeast Conference championship in 1996, guided RMU to a perfect 10-0 season in 2000 and in 2010 helped lead the Colonials to the NEC’s inaugural bid to the NCAA FCS Playoffs with their league-high sixth regular-season championship. “It’s hard to believe,” Walton speaks on how fast time has elapsed. “I’ve said this many times before, and I mean it when I say that this situation is one of the best things that has ever happened to me in my life. It happened at the right time. Before this position became available, I felt I was too young to quit coaching, but I wasn’t anxious to get back into pro football. When this came along, it was the perfect fit. This situation was the perfect opportunity for me to continue to do what I like to do, and I’ve loved every minute of it.” Under Walton’s tutelage, the Colonials have claimed outright NEC regular-season titles three times (1997, 1999, 2000) while sharing three others (1996, 1998, 2010). Walton led Robert Morris to back-to-back ECAC Bowl victories in 1996 and 1997, and in 1999 and 2000 he guided RMU to a pair of NCAA I-AA mid-major national crowns according to Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette. In 2010, Walton added to his legacy by engineering the Colonials on an eightgame winning streak for a share of the NEC regular-season title and the NEC’s first bid in the NCAA FCS Playoffs. In the process he picked up his 100th career victory in the collegiate ranks.

Junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair’s 37 passing attempts in last year’s meeting at Bulldog Stadium is a career high ... Game #10 • Bryant 27, Robert Morris 21 Saturday, November 13, 2010 • Smithfield, R.I. Bulldog Stadium (Attendance: 2,207) - Robert Morris concluded its 2010 regular season by having its eight-game winning streak snapped with a 27-21 loss to Bryant. Playing for the first time as a ranked team, the Colonials took an early 7-0 lead when quarterback Jeff Sinclair connected with wide receiver Anthony Coleman for a 16-yard touchdown pass at the 5:19 mark of the first quarter. Bryant responded on its next possession, as Jordan Brown posted a 38-yard run on the first play of the possession for the Bulldogs and was aided by a personal foul penalty that moved the ball to the RMU 21-yard line. Four plays later Brown scored from three yards out to make it 7-6 after Chris Bird missed the extra-point attempt. The Bulldogs took a 13-7 lead just four plays later when Addison Lynch intercepted Sinclair and rumbled 43 yards to the end zone for a touchdown with 1:43 remaining in the first quarter. Bryant’s defense came up big again in the second quarter to help the Bulldogs increase their lead to 20-7. RMU started a drive at the 15-yard line of Bryant after a muffed punt by Brown was recovered by Sean McElhinny, but on the second play of the drive Samad Wagstaff intercepted Sinclair and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown. Robert Morris trimmed its deficit to 20-14 with 9:28 to play in the third quarter when running back Raphael Johnson scored from a yard out to cap an 11-play, 47-yard drive. Sinclair ran for a pair of first downs during the possession, while Johnson converted on 4th-and-1 from the Bryant six-yard line to set up his score one play later. Despite the score for Robert Morris, Bryant answered on its next drive to push its lead to 2714 thanks to another three-yard touchdown run by Brown. The big play was a 64-yard completion from Mike Croce to Khalel Pritchard that set up the offense for the Bulldogs at the threeyard line of the Colonials. Fullback Jeff Link hauled in a six-yard touchdown pass with just 5:10 remaining to pull the Colonials within a score, 27-21, but a last-gasp effort by Robert Morris ended in a turnover on downs with under two minutes to play. Running back Myles Russ posted his fourth straight 100-yard rushing game and 17th of his career with 109 yards on 22 carries, while Sinclair finished 15-for-37 passing for 159 yards two touchdowns and three interceptions. Albany Game Notes - Albany snapped a two-game losing streak against Robert Morris with the win and took a 7-6 (.538) advantage in the all-time series ... The defeat marked just RMU’s second loss against an NEC foe in its last 16 league games ... The Great Danes racked up 473 yards of total offense and also suffered 14 penalties that cost them 134 yards ... The Colonials compiled 293 total yards ... Robert Morris was a perfect 3-for-3 in fourth-down conversions yet 3-for-16 in third-down conversions ... Robert Morris finished with seven tackles for losses that totaled 19 yards, including the first sack of the 2011 campaign by junior linebacker Kyle Cooper ... RMU’s 80-yard touchdown drive that was capped by a 17-yard touchdown run by junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair in the fourth quarter is its longest of the 2011 season. Hanging Chad - Junior safety Cameron Chadwick established a career high with 16 tackles @ Albany (10/15), becoming the 17th different Colonial in school history to accumulate at least 15 tackles in a game. Chadwick enters Saturday’s game against Bryant leading Robert Morris in tackles with 41, an average of 6.8 per contest that ranks 12th in the Northeast Conference. Stuffing The Run - Six games into the 2011 season, and the Robert Morris defense is again proving to be stingy in regard to the opposing running game. Despite allowing a season-high 194 yards rushing @ Albany (10/15), the Colonials enter Saturday’s game against Bryant allowing an average of just 105.5 yards on the ground per game, which leads the Northeast Conference and ranks 18th in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The school record for rushing defense is held by the 2006 Colonials, which allowed an average of 99.8 yards per game. Overall, RMU enters Saturday’s game leading the NEC and ranked 15th in the country in total defense, yielding an average of 307.83 yards per contest. Driver’s Education - While the offense struggled at the beginning of the 2011 campaign, the unit is coming together at the right time. Robert Morris enters Saturday’s game against Bryant having posted 15 touchdown drives this season, but it’s been the ability of the offense to put together sustained drives that is paying off. Of RMU’s 15 touchdown drives this season, seven have been 70 yards or longer. Six of those drives have come in the last three games and are big reason why RMU leads the Northeast Conference in time of possession at 31:52. Hats off goes to the defense in regard to allowing the offense to put together sustained drives, as the Colonials are allowing opponents to convert just 30.7 percent (23-for-75) of its first downs, which leads the NEC. Sack Happy - Thanks to a deep front seven that features interchangeable parts, Robert Morris enters Saturday’s game against Bryant having recorded 11 sacks through the first six games of the 2011 campaign, an average of 1.83 per game and a total that is tied for fifth in the Northeast Conference with Monmouth. To illustrate RMU’s depth in regard to its front seven, a total of nine different Colonials have registered at least half a sack so far this season. Leading the way have been junior defensive linemen Nolan Nearhoof and Steve Mitchell, who each have two and-a-half sacks to their credit. Nearhoof and Mitchell enter Saturday’s game against Bryant with a combined 17.5 career sacks between them. First Time for Everything - Junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair made history in RMU’s 4514 victory over Saint Francis (10/8), becoming the first quarterback in school history to eclipse the 100-yard rushing plateau. Sinclair finished with 110 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns on just five carries, an average of 22.0 yards per rush. Sinclair posted touchdown runs of 64 and 22 yards in the second quarter to help the Colonials build a 35-0 halftime lead en route to the victory. Overall, Sinclair is the 12th different player in school history to post a 100-yard rushing game. The King’s Speech - Thanks to a pair of touchdown receptions in a 45-14 victory over Saint Francis (10/8), senior tight end Shadrae King pushed his career total in the category to 20. King is tied for seventh all-time at Robert Morris in career touchdowns with former running back Devin Wilson (2002-05) and is just two points shy of cracking the top 10 all-time at Robert Morris for career points scored. King currently owns 120.

2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Bryant (10/22/11) - Page 6 A New No. 1 - Senior tight end Shadrae King tied a career high with nine receptions in a 23-20 victory @ Monmouth (10/1), compiling 104 yards receiving and a pair of touchdowns. In addition to recording his third career 100yard receiving game, King became the program’s all-time leading receiver. He enters Saturday’s game against Bryant with 122 career catches, a total that eclipsed the record of 112 that was held by former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey (2002-05). King also owns career totals of 20 touchdown catches and 1,468 career receiving yards, which rank second and third, respectively, alltime at Robert Morris. King enters Saturday’s game against Bryant ranked fourth in the Northeast Conference in receptions per game (4.67) and 10th in receiving yards (49.0) per contest. Dr. Dre - Senior tight end Shadrae King was one of three Colonials to tie for team-high honors in receptions @ Albany, posting three catches for 29 yards. It marked the 25th straight game dating back to the 2009 campaign that King has recorded at least one reception, extending a school record. King eclipsed the old mark of former wide receiver Opio Gary (1998-2000), who closed out his Robert Morris career by posting at least one reception in each of his final 22 games. Two Pair - Quarterback Jeff Sinclair tossed three touchdown passes in a 45-14 victory over Saint Francis (10/8), including a pair to senior tight end Shadrae King. Thanks to the three scores through the air from Sinclair against the Red Flash, Robert Morris improved to 10-2 (.833) when he tosses two or more touchdown passes in a game. Many Happy Returns - Senior Anthony Coleman has been a rock for Robert Morris on special teams throughout his career, as the wide receiver enters Saturday’s game against Bryant owning Robert Morris career records for kickoff returns (91) and kickoff return yards (1,938). Thanks to his consistency on special teams, Coleman owns 2,989 career all-purpose yards, which ranks sixth all-time at Robert Morris. Coleman enters Saturday’s game against Bryant just 11 yards shy of becoming the sixth player in school history to eclipse 3,000 career all-purpose yards. Start Me Up - Seniors Anthony Coleman and Brad Rodgers each enter Saturday’s game against Bryant as RMU’s active leader in career starting assignments with 28. Coleman has started 28 straight at wide receiver, the longest active streak for consecutive starts, while Rodgers owns 26 straight starts on the offensive line and 28 overall. Dynamic Duo - Senior tight end Shadrae King hauled in a pair of touchdown passes from junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair in a 45-14 victory over in-state rival Saint Francis (10/8), pushing his career total in touchdown receptions to 20. King is just two touchdown catches shy of breaking former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey’s (2002-05) career record of 21, and it would be fitting if they came from Sinclair. Over the last three seasons, Sinclair has connected with King for 14 touchdowns, tied for the second highest total between a quarterback-receiver combo in school history. The only total higher comes from former quarterback Drew Geyer (2002-05) and Massey, who hooked up for 17 touchdowns over their four years together on the roster.

Last RMU Game Game #6 • Albany 28, Robert Morris 17 October 15, 2011 • Albany, N.Y. University Field (Attendance: 5,878) - Dan Di Lella’s three touchdown passes in the first half helped Albany jump out to a 21-0 lead as the Great Danes snapped a two-game winning streak by Robert Morris with a 28-17 win over the Colonials at University Field. On the first play of the second possession of the afternoon for the Great Danes, Di Lella hit Cole King for a 44-yard touchdown pass to give Albany an early 7-0 lead. Di Lella would strike again on Albany’s next possession, this time hitting Nick Hutcherson with a nine-yard touchdown pass that capped an 11-play, 80-yard drive and gave the Great Danes a 14-0 advantage. Di Lella’s third touchdown strike of the first half came with 4:12 left before the break when he hit Ryan Kirchner in the back of the end zone for a 27-yard scoring pass. Meanwhile, the Robert Morris offense struggled in the first half, going three-and-out four times and accumulating just six first downs. RMU’s offense sprung to life in the second half, as junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair engineered a 10-play, 62-yard drive and capped it with an eight-yard touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Donte Jeter. Jeter hauled in all three of his receptions of the game during the drive, accumulating 25 yards and his first career touchdown. Albany stalled at the 24-yard line of the Colonials on its next drive, and a 42-yard field goal attempt by Herb Glass fell short due to stiffening winds. Robert Morris responded by marching to the Albany 19-yard line before settling for a 36-yard field goal by junior Greg Langer to close to within 21-10 at the end of the third quarter. The Great Danes helped squash any chance of an RMU comeback on their next drive, calling six straight running plays, the last of which was a one-yard touchdown plunge by Dillon Romain. On the second play of the drive, Romain galloped 34 yards to the RMU 29-yard line and finished with five carries for 63 yards during the decisive possession. Sinclair added a 17-yard touchdown run with just 26 seconds remaining for the final score of the game and finished the afternoon with 236 yards of total offense. In addition to completing 12 of his 33 pass attempts for 158 yards and a touchdown, Sinclair added 78 yards rushing on 14 carries and a score to pace the RMU ground game. Jeter, senior tight end Shadrae King and junior wide receiver Rickeem Jackson each finished with three receptions, with Jackson accumulating 37 yards receiving and King 29. 2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Bryant (10/22/11) - Page 7 Foot Joy - One of the most important aspects that junior Jeff Sinclair brings to the quarterback position at Robert Morris is his versatility. In a 45-14 victory over Saint Francis (10/8), Sinclair posted a pair of touchdown runs, including a 64-yard run in the second quarter and a 22-yard scamper with 25 seconds left before halftime that gave RMU a 35-0 halftime lead. In 24 career games, Sinclair has already rushed for 12 touchdowns. To put that in perspective, prior to Sinclair becoming the starter under center at RMU, quarterbacks combined for 16 rushing touchdowns in the first 156 games of the program’s history. New Balance - Redshirt freshman running back Deontae Howard earned his first career start at halfback @ Albany (10/15), posting 18 carries for 49 yards, an average of 2.7 yards per rush. Howard is the third different Colonial to start at halfback so far on the 2011 campaign, joining true freshmen Duane Mitchell and Justin Brooks. Howard is the 18th different player to earn their first career start so far this season for Robert Morris. An Important Position - Catching his first career touchdown pass @ Liberty (9/10) was sophomore tight end Vince Mongelluzzo, who hauled in a nine-yard touchdown pass in with 10:25 remaining in the fourth quarter for his first career reception. One of the most important positions in head coach Joe Walton’s offense, Mongelluzzo is the 18th different tight end in the 18-year history of the program to post a touchdown catch. In fact, Mongelluzzo is currently one of four tight ends in school history whose only catch is a touchdown, joining junior Tyler Digby and former Colonials Jeremy Wise (2002-05) and Sean McElhinny (2007-10). Near and Far - Junior defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof, a member of the 2011 All-NEC Preseason Team, put together arguably his best game in a Robert Morris uniform @ Morgan State (9/17). Nearhoof compiled a career-high 11 tackles to tie for game-high honors, including four tackles for losses that totaled 20 yards. Included among those tackle totals were two and-a-half sacks, his first of the 2011 campaign. Nearhoof enters Saturday’s game against Albany tied for seventh in the NEC in sacks (2.5) and sixth in the circuit in tackles for loss (7.5). He also enters the contest just a half a sack away from cracking the top 10 all-time at Robert Morris in the category, as he has compiled 11 so far in 26 career games. Saturday Night Lights - Robert Morris hosted its first night game in the program’s 18year history as part of the University’s Homecoming festivities Oct. 8, rolling to a 45-14 win over in-state rival Saint Francis at Joe Walton Stadium. A total of 4,384 fans packed “The Joe” for the win over the Red Flash, the largest crowd in the seven-year history of the facility as well as the sixth official sellout since the venue opened in 2005. The game marked just the seventh time Robert Morris played a game with a kickoff after 5:00 p.m., with the Colonials owning a record of 2-5 (.286) all-time in night games. Thanks to a 42-24 win over Central Connecticut State (11/6/10) that clinched a share of the 2010 Northeast Conference championship, RMU stretched its winning streak at “The Joe” to eight games, the longest winning streak at the facility since opening the stadium in 2005. Making The Grade - Defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof became the third player in program history to be named to the Capital One Academic All-America Team in 2010 when he earned second team accolades. Nearhoof owns a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.87 as a biology major and joined former Colonials Jonathan LeDonne (2001-04) and Ray Gensler (2003-06) to earn the honor. LeDonne, a linebacker, was named to the 2004 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team, while Gensler, a defensive lineman, was a twotime honoree, earning second team accolades in 2005 and first team honors in 2006. In the first six games of the 2011 campaign, Nearhoof owns 31 tackles, including two and-a-half sacks, and a pair of fumble recoveries. He enters Saturday’s game against Bryant as RMU’s active leader in career tackles with 108. Preseason Honors - A total of five Colonials earned spots on the 2011 All-Northeast Conference Preseason Team. Junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair, senior center Logan Miles and senior tight end Shadrae King were placed on offense, junior defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof earned a spot on defense and senior Anthony Coleman was picked as the return specialist on special teams. In addition, King was named to the 2011 Preseason Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America Second Team by both The Sports Network and Phil Steele and the 2011 Preseason FCS Honorable Mention Team by Consensus Draft Services. Mitchell On The Move - Did any student-athlete have a better year in 2010-11 than Steve Mitchell? In the fall of 2010, Mitchell started all 11 games on the defensive line, recording 37 tackles in helping Robert Morris claim its sixth NEC regular-season championship and the league’s inaugural bid to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs. In the spring of 2011 he ignited the RMU outdoor track & field squad to a second-place finish at the 2011 NEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with 133 points, the squad’s highest finish since winning the 2000 NEC Outdoor Track & Field title with 146.5 points. Mitchell was named the 2011 Most Outstanding Field Performer after claiming gold in the hammer throw and silver in the shot put. He posted a toss of 50.83 meters in the hammer and a throw of 16.29 meters in the shot, establishing a new RMU outdoor school record. 2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Bryant (10/22/11) - Page 9 Those Issues Are Secondary - Through the first six contests of the 2011 season, a member of the Robert Morris secondary has led the team in tackles in five games. Included in that group is senior cornerback Alex Tarr (twice), junior safeties Cameron Chadwick and Eric Lowry and sophomore safety D.J. Myers. Chadwick is coming off a performance in which he posted a careerhigh 16 tackles @ Albany (10/15), the most tackles by a Colonial since forme rlinebacker Alex DiMichele (2006-10) recorded 19 in a 35-14 victory @ Saint Francis (10/2/10). RMU enters Saturday’s game with 159 of its 414 tackles (38.4 percent) so far this season having come from its secondary. Rank and File - Robert Morris certainly posted a defining victory when it garnered a 30-23 upset win over No. 14/15 Liberty (9/18) at Joe Walton Stadium, but should it really come as a surprise? The victory improved the Colonials to a perfect 2-0 when squaring off with a ranked opponent at home. RMU defeated fellow Northeast Conference foe Central Connecticut State, 23-17, in a pair of overtimes at Joe Walton Stadium Oct. 14, 2006, for its first win over a ranked opponent. The Blue Devils entered that game ranked No. 19 by The Sports Network, while the Flames occupied the No. 15 spot in TSN’s poll before falling to the Colonials. RMU’s loss @ Liberty (9/10) dropped the Colonials to 2-2 (.500) all-time when facing off with a ranked opponent, as the Flames entered the game ranked 24th by The Sports Network. To see the latest FCS national rankings by The Sports Network, please see page 7 of RMU’s game notes. A Colonial in the NFL Hank Fraley, who played on the offensive line for Robert Morris from 19961999, has carved a niche for himself in the National Football League (NFL). Signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to a free agent contract in April 2000, Fraley was claimed off waivers the following August by the Philadelphia Eagles. After an ankle injury to Bubba Miller in the final 2001 preseason game, Fraley stepped up and started at center for Philadelphia the entire season, helping the team to the 2002 NFC Championship game. For four straight seasons with Fraley starting at center from 2002-05, the Eagles appeared in the NFC Championship game. In 2005, Fraley became the first RMU football alum to appear in the Super Bowl when he started at center against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. Prior to the start of the 2006 campaign, Fraley was traded by Philadelphia to Cleveland, where he started all 16 games for the Browns on the year. Fraley played four seasons with the Browns from 2006 to 2009, earning 52 starts in 63 games, before signing as a free agent with the St. Louis Rams March 14, 2010. Entering the 2011 season, which will be his 12th year in the NFL, Fraley has started 123 of his career 142 games and has also earned 10 starts in the postseason. Primarily a center, Fraley has also started at both guard and tackle throughout his NFL career. Fraley became the second Colonial to have his number retired, joining inaugural running back Tim Hall (1994-95), as Fraley’s No. 75 was enshrined prior to RMU’s game against Sacred Heart on Sept. 22, 2001. Fraley became the sixth football inductee into the Robert Morris Athletic Hall of Fame when he was enshrined Oct. 14, 2006.
