What was the interview process like? The interview process involved five interviews: one with HR, two with departmental managers and another two with our prospective personal managers. They were quite relaxed and although some technical questions were asked they were more about getting to know you as a person. How much responsibility were you given? Responsibility is given to you from day one. Each intern is assigned an individual project to work on for their placement and although it can seem quite daunting at first there is a lot of support given.

Progress can be varied, but it makes the final outcome extremely rewarding. Where has your experience exceeded your expectations? Initially I wasn’t sure what being an intern would entail and I didn’t know how integrated I would become within the company. There is a very welcoming atmosphere however and you feel as if you are part of the team straight away. How promising are the graduate prospects? The graduate prospects are very promising. Two research scientists in my group alone have returned from originally doing internships here. Two of the current interns have already been accepted for PhDs next year too. The internship is definitely a great stepping stone into further careers in Science and Engineering.
