What made you first apply to SAP? When I first saw the placement advertised on my university’s website, I immediately thought of the SAP adverts that I’d seen at airports. After doing more research into the company, I became intrigued by the relationship SAP has with such a vast range of companies, from Skull Candy to The Body Shop. It seemed like a multinational organisation that would not only be able to provide me with great business experience during my placement year, but in the future as well. How much responsibility were you given during your placement? Despite being an intern, I was given plenty of responsibility and opportunities to further develop my strengths and weaknesses. My responsibilities ranged from dealing with customers to managing important projects for my colleagues with specific deadlines to meet. Although I was given a significant amount of responsibility, it was never more than I could handle and through each experience, I was able to enhance my skills and learn for the future. What did you most enjoy about your placement? One aspect about working at SAP that I enjoyed the most was how open the environment was to allow you to learn and grow. If I found a project that appealed to me, I was always encouraged to get involved and learn new skills. Throughout the placement, I always felt that I was getting back as much from SAP as I was giving to the company.

What was your greatest challenge? My greatest challenge was understanding the elements of a working life, as this placement was my first real job. From learning how to fit in with office culture and observing certain formalities, this past year has definitely prepared me for work in the real world.
