Registration Certificates
Certificates will be transferred to the buyer at the seller’s expense. Buyer must be sure to give the clerk the proper name and address for making transfers. Responsibilty & arrangements will be made between buyer and seller.
Terms & Conditions
Terms for the Tri-State Grasstime Sale are cash or check made payable to Larry Martin Cattle Sales. Settlement will be made to the clerk immediately following the sale and before the cattle are loaded and removed from Stephenson County Fairgrounds. Buyer will receive a paid receipt upon completion of the sale. All bidders and buyers must register with LMCS Staff prior to sale.

Fairgrounds and Consignors assume no responsibility for accidents, errors in catalog or any ommissions. All cattle are at the purchaser’s risk when sold. The Consignors will give assistance in loading or arrangements of shipping cattle.
Check-In, Inspection of Cattle & Trucking
Sale cattle will be checked in Friday, May 25th. Cattle will be available for viewing at the barn after 12 pm until the time of the sale on Saturday, May 26th. Sale cattle stall assignments and all trucking arrangements will be made with Greg Miller - 608.778.8785.

The Tri-State Grasstime All Breed sale has been in the making for over 2 years, we have finally found a central location in the heart of the Tri-State area on Route 20 to hold our first sale. We are kicking off this sale featuring the Slager Angus Dispersal from Polo, IL. A herd with over 55 years of Angus history. If you’re in the market for good Angus cattle that are ready for grass, be here for this dispersal. The bull selection will be top genetics, top quality breeding age bulls that have been semen checked and ready to turn out with your cows. There are several ET bulls in the offering, Angus, Hereford, Red Angus, Shorthorn, Simmental, Gelbvieh and Gelbvieh balancer bulls. The cow/calf division will be deep in quality, featuring Angus, Red Angus, Simmental. Some are bred back and some open and ready for embryos to be put in. Illinois Family Honored for Historic Angus Herd Larry Slager, Polo, Ill., purchased his first registered Angus heifer when he was 10 years old. The year was 1960, and thanks to a $270 loan from the bank, he brought home Eiltonier Erica 215 from Eiltonier Angus in Tipton, Iowa. That was the official start to Larry’s registered Angus herd, which is still in operation nearly 55 years later. To recognize his dedication to the Angus breed, the American Angus Association® is proud to name Slager Angus as a Historic Angus Herd. The award is presented to Angus breeders or immediate families who have been in continuous production of registered Angus cattle for 50 years or more. Before investing in his first Angus heifer, Larry had a Hereford steer. Then, he says, he “saw the light.” The first calf out of Eiltonier Erica 215 sired the grand champion steer at a county 4-H competition. Through 4-H and FFA he showed cattle extensively at county and state fairs during the 1960s. In fact, Larry met his wife, Deborah, in the cattle barn at the Wisconsin State Fair. They married in 1974, and she officially became a partner in the Slager Angus herd. That same year, they exhibited the first place bull at the International Livestock Show in Chicago, which was known as the nation’s premier livestock event for many years. In 1975, the couple expanded their herd by purchasing 13 heifers from Circle L Ranch in Hugoton, Kan. The family’s current cow herd can still trace back to two of those early females. “Through constant performance testing since 1970, the entire herd is descended from two of these cows,” Larry said. “We have had a closed herd for 30 years.” And their genetic selections have been working. Slager Angus bred the high-gaining bull at the 2012 Wisconsin Bull Test at 5.85 pounds-per-day. Larry and Deborah continue to manage the herd of 17 registered Angus cows at their home farm in northern Illinois. Their passion for the Angus business — started more than 50 years ago — is sure to continue for many years to come.
