I know everyone has heard of the blessing

of the Ronald McDonald House – providing a wonderful “home-away-from-home”, covering your basic needs, and allowing you to focus on putting one foot in front of the other. All of those things are so very true, but our case had a slightly different angle. While on vacation, our 19-year-old had a heart attack. He stopped breathing and his heart stopped beating. I was stranded 12 hours away from home with two teenagers, one in neuro trauma intensive care and the other feeling lost and scared because of the situation we were thrown into. Five days into the ordeal, Zach finally woke up. My husband had to take the other kids back home while my son Ethan stayed with me. That’s when we were introduced to RMH. The comfort and hominess of the House brought such comfort to Ethan. Having a kitchen to make his snacks and being able to clean his clothes helped his stress levels so much. Our new “home base” was like a balm to his soul. It took all that we had to get through this. It was all so unexpected and we were so very far from home. Thank you RMH for being there when we needed you.
