Easy Family

HOME: Kirbyville, MO (Taney County)

March 17th changed my family’s life forever. I had

just gotten home from work and was begging my daughter to come inside the house to eat. She just wanted to play outside with her friends so I agreed. About 10 minutes later, I heard frantic knocks on my door by two of her friends telling me she just got hit by a motorcycle. I ran outside to see my daughter unconscious, laying in a ditch. I screamed so loudly. So many people were surrounding her, trying to help, but her body was cold and I didn’t think she was going to make it. A helicopter transported her to the hospital due to the extent of her injuries. She had a broken leg, a large chunk of her liver was damaged, and she was bleeding uncontrollably. She needed surgery. I first stayed at the hospital, but then the Ronald McDonald House relieved a lot of stress when they told me I could have my own room while my daughter recovered. They were so kind and provided me with food and everything I needed, and it made my situation so much better throughout this process. My daughter had to have three surgeries on her liver to stop the bleeding, but she came out of all this like a champ! There was no permanent damage and now she’s just a regular 10year old doing all the things she’s done before, if not better! I still get emotional when I think about this time in our lives, and I know we were so blessed. Thank you to the Mercy doctors and nurses and the Ronald McDonald House for all you do!
