Baldwin Family HOME: Miller, MO (Lawrence County)

Amber Baldwin was teaching a class when

she was 27 weeks pregnant with her daughter, Alyssa. Unexpectedly, her water broke, she rushed to the Emergency Room, and she was admitted to Mercy Hospital, where she stayed in-patient for several weeks until labor. When she was 32 weeks along, Alyssa’s heart rate started to drop, and they decided to induce labor. After Alyssa arrived, she was admitted to the NICU and Amber checked into the Ronald McDonald House. Amber and her husband, Austin, benefited tremendously by the House. Due to the restrictions Mercy had in place, Amber’s family was not able to assist her with rides to the hospital, so having a place to stay gave her the ability to be near Alyssa and allowed Austin to use their car to drive to work each day. If it weren’t for the House, Amber would have only been able to see Alyssa one time a day! Amber says the nicest part of her stay at the House was interacting with the staff. She said at the time, “This is all really scary” and the staff was able to provide comfort and understanding. They will always be thankful for the Ronald McDonald House and the way the staff made their stay welcoming and comfortable!
