Tell us a little about the volunteer efforts you’ve become involved in since graduating from the LD program in 2011 and why?

session, I now serve on the Board of Advisors with the Marist Liberty Partnership Program.

One of the direct benefits of participating in LD was that it provided me with first-hand interaction with many non-profit organizations in Dutchess County. In fact, one of my favorite sessions involved our visit to the Family Partnership Center, where we were exposed to a number of charitable groups. As a direct result of this

How have the skills you’ve learned by going through the LD program impacted your personal & professional life? Before reflecting on the knowledge and skills I developed through the program, I have to emphasize the great relationships I made, many of which continue through my involvement with the Leadership Dutchess Committee.

The program exposed me to several impressive individuals, with different educational and professional backgrounds, in a forum in which we all came together and worked towards a common goal.

If you could go back and take part in one of the 10 sessions offered in the program again, which would it be and why? The “Communications” session held at Central Hudson. Among other speaking tasks, this session required us to break up into teams, assess an urgent crisis, and present the facts and background of the situation, as well as an immediate plan to resolve the situation. Something I always tell younger people and students training to be professionals, is that they should never miss an opportunity to speak in front of others, especially when it forces you to step outside your comfort zone. No matter what field you work in, the ability to communicate with others, in both small and large groups settings is essential to being successful.

Would you recommend this program to your family, friends & colleagues? If so, why? Yes – I would absolutely recommend this program to others. It is a unique opportunity to sharpen your leadership skills through education and experience, while also networking with other professionals, and broadening your interaction with charitable organizations in our community.
