Delaware River Scenic Byway Voted New Jersey’s Best Drive for Fall Foliage in 2023.

Survey of 3,000 reveals America’s top 140 drives for fall foliage this year. Palisades Interstate Parkway voted 2nd, and The Pine Barrens Scenic Byway 3rd. Every fall, the United States undergoes a vibrant transformation. From the dense forests of New England to the vast expanses of the Rockies, trees shift from their summer greens to a rich display of oranges, yellows, and reds. This change in foliage is one of the country’s most anticipated natural events, drawing both locals and tourists alike. For those looking to experience this spectacle firsthand, a road trip is often the best way to do it.

Across America, there are numerous routes designed to showcase the beauty of the autumn leaves, passing through charming towns and along peaceful lakes. Gunther VW Coconut Creek ran a survey of 3,000 respondents, asking them to rate their favorite routes to witness fall foliage, to help fellow travelers discover these picturesque routes. New Jersey has 3 scenic drives voted among the country’s best for witnessing fall foliage this year. New Jersey’s top pick for fall foliage drives was the Delaware River Scenic Byway, voted in 58th place nationally. Stretching for miles, this

byway captures the essence of the Garden State’s natural beauty. As the road meanders alongside the river, drivers are met with expansive views of the shimmering waters, accentuated by the lush greenery of forests and rolling hills that hug its banks. In the autumn months, the area bursts into a kaleidoscope of colors, with fall foliage painting the landscape in brilliant shades of amber, crimson, and gold. The second most popular in the state, and 83rd overall, was the Palisades Interstate Parkway. Carving its way along the cliffs of the Hudson River’s western shore, the parkway provides autumnal beauty. unparalleled views of the river below and the distant New York skyline. As autumn descends upon the region, the dense forests lining

the parkway transform into a brilliant mix of colors, with hues of crimson, amber, and gold standing in stark contrast to the deep blue of the river. The sheer cliffs of the Palisades, which rise majestically from the river’s edge, only enhance the visual spectacle, with their rugged faces adorned by trees showcasing their their autumnal beauty. And third place in the state went to the The Pine Barrens Scenic Byway. It was voted in 111th position nationally. Stretching across 130 miles of untouched nature, this byway showcases the raw beauty and wilderness of the Pine Barrens. During the fall, the landscape subtly transforms, offering a different, muted palette compared to other northeastern fall displays. The dense forests of pitch pine and scrub oak create a tranquil and

somewhat mysterious backdrop, as the understory is often dappled with vibrant hues from smaller deciduous trees and shrubs.
