Mayor Steven M. Fulop joins the Department of Housing, Economic Development, and Commerce (HEDC) and the Municipal Utilities Authority (JCMUA) to announce the upcoming launch of Jersey City’s digital Customer Portal, improving local government efficiencies and public services by creating a one-stop online platform for all permitting and licensing applications pertaining to HEDC and

JCMUA. From applying for business licenses to obtaining construction permits and everything in between, the integrated portal is scheduled to launch on June 14, 2023.

Mayor Fulop has led Jersey City through one of the greatest renaissances in its history, resulting in a greater need for Housing, Economic Development, and Commerce services. In 2022 alone, City Planning approved over 13,600 units – an increase of 4,000 units from the previous year. To meet the growing demand, all HEDC Divisions will now be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on one system for a more uniform application process and greater public access to information and documentation.

“Once again, we are challenging the status quo to deliver greater public access and more efficient

services for our community,” said Mayor Fulop. “This new integrated online platform not only makes the entire process much easier and faster for the public, but we will also streamline and digitize internal operations, eliminating redundancies and manual processes for quicker, more efficient results.”

All applications and violations associated with a particular parcel, both previous and future, will now be linked. The new unified software will use Value Payment Systems (VPS) to provide access to HEDC services in one location, eliminating past practices of making payments at multiple websites or City offices. Additionally, the new system allows constituents to look up public records rather than submitting an OPRA request.

Lottery Announced for County Boat Trip for Bayonne Seniors

The Bayonne Division of Recreation announced that the County of Hudson will sponsor a boat trip for senior citizens on Friday,

June 30, 2023, courtesy of Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, County Commissioner Ken Kopacz of Bayonne, and the other members of Hudson County Board of Commissioners. Limited numbers of tickets are available for the excursion in each Hudson County municipality. Open to Bayonne residents, ages 60 and older, that are mobile and do not require wheelchair assistance or four-wheeled walkers. (Aides, escorts, and children are not permitted.)

There will be a lottery system for those who register an interest in attending the boat trip.

Registration for the cruise lottery will take place Tuesday, June 13, and Wednesday, June 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, in the Recreation Division, Room 13, at City Hall, ONLY.

The Jersey City Comedy Festival Returns June 7-10, 2023

Art House Productions and presenting sponsor Tito’s Handmade Vodka, are proud to announce the return of the Jersey City Comedy Festival (JCCF) taking place June 7-10, 2023 in Jersey City, NJ. JCCF will be held at two different locations, Art House Productions and The Laugh Tour Comedy Club at Dorrian’s Red Hand. 48 comedians from 12 States and Canada were selected from over 300 submissions. Selected comics will compete in five competition showcases June 7-9. Audiences will be able to vote for their favorite comedian at each showcase in order to advance them to the finale, headlined by Marina Franklin on June 10.All 10 finalists will receive spots at The Laugh Tour Comedy Club. Two comics (Audience pick +Industry pick) will win “Best of the Fest,” and

receive $500 each. The audience pick will also receive a spot at West Side Comedy Club’s new talent show. The industry winner will receive spots at West Side Comedy Club, The Laugh Tour Comedy Club, and Catch A Rising Star.

“We’re so excited to bring back the Jersey City Comedy Festival after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic. BAYONNE HOMETOWN FAIR 2023

The 2023 Bayonne Hometown Fair will take place on Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4. This will be the ninth anniversary of the current version of the Hometown Fair. The fair will be running from 21st Street to 26th Street along Broadway. On Saturday, June 3, the fair’s hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. On Sunday, June 4, the fair’s hours will be from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. The 2023 fair will feature food, rides, vendors, and musical entertainment. Mayor Jimmy Davis said, “Local organizations, businesses, entertainers, and volunteers are working to make sure that this year’s fair is a great event.”

The Hometown Fair Association is the organizer of the event in

collaboration with the City of Bayonne, Mayor Davis, and the Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ).

Amusements will include inflatable rides between 25th and 26th Streets. The inflatable rides will be free, and will be sponsored by the Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ).

The main stage for the fair will be set up on East 23rd Street by Church Lane. A second performance space, the community stage, will be set up on the East side of Broadway between 22nd and 23rd Streets. A variety of musicians and other entertainers will perform at both stages.

Vendors and organizations will take part in the fair, with tables along Broadway from 21st Street to 25th

Street. The tables will feature food, merchandise, information about community organizations, and give-aways

of various promotional items.

The Hometown Fair Association would like to thank the fair’s

numerous sponsors for their support. The generosity of the sponsors makes the fair possible.

There is no rain date for the fair. In the event of rain, every effort will be made to continue or resume the fair on the scheduled days, as circumstances may permit.

The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail station closest to the fair is located at 22nd Street and Avenue E. Mayor Davis said, “I urge visitors to take advantage of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail system to come to the fair and see what Bayonne has to offer.”
