SURFRIDER BRINGS OCEAN PHOTOGRAPHY TO THE SHORES OF LONG BEACH --Long Beach Chapter Partners with Artists for a Celebration of Local Ocean and Shoreline--

LONG BEACH, CA - AUGUST 1, 2016 – The Long Beach Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation (www.lbsurfrider.org) has partnered with artists Justin Soenksen, Kohjiro Kinno, Dino Caderao, and Wes Harding on “Sand and See: A View of Long Beach Through Photos, ” a show celebrating the city’s ocean and shore. The opening event and fundraiser will take place at Fingerprints and Berlin Bistro on Saturday, August 6, with all proceeds from the sales of the artwork benefitting the chapter. "We're excited to be joining forces with these talented photographers who, through their art, have captured the amazing beauty of our ocean and beaches,” said Seamus Ian Innes, Chairman of the Long Beach Chapter of Surfrider Foundation. “If we can raise awareness about the importance of protecting our ocean and get folks to appreciate the joy of our shorelines, then we will have achieved our goal with this show.” Each one of the artists are involved in the Long Beach art scene and are strong advocates for the local ocean and beaches. “We wanted to have a collaboration of our art in an effort to raise awareness of the issues affecting our local beaches,” said Caderao. "From the breakwater reconfiguration to plastic pollution, we hope to open people up and help support our efforts for clean water, reduced pollution, and open water recreation." The event will take place from 6pm – 10pm and feature guest speakers, including Innes and each of the artists; a live performance by Sunlit Souls, a local two-piece string band; and a cash bar. The artwork will be on display at Fingerprints and Berlin Bistro through August. For more information, please contact Rich Rodriguez at 347.622.3685 or chair@lbsurfer.org.
