June 2019 Dear Parent Carer RE: Hameldon Transport Arrangements Having worked closely with Lancashire County Council (LCC) I can now provide details of the school bus services to transport pupils to Hameldon College for the duration of the buildings project taking place on the Rhyddings site. The buses are contracted for our school only (not public service) and are provided at no cost to parents/carers. All the bus services used are LCC approved providers with appropriate insurances and drivers. We will run a normal school day starting at 08.45, with normal times and finishing at 3pm. Parents and carers are welcome to provide their own transport, should you choose, as long as pupils are on time for school. There is ample space for drop off/collection by car at Hameldon College. The nearest train station is Rose Grove, Burnley, approx. a 15min walk from Hameldon. The attached bus routes are based on a postcode analysis and you should find a bus service that your child will be able to use. Each service has a bus number, route, stops and times. This will of course mean an earlier start for some pupils but attendance and punctuality remain the same. The timetables can also be viewed on our website: http://www.rhyddings.co.uk/category/parents/letters/ I would like to be clear to all parents/carers the need for your child to have excellent conduct on the bus and follow any instruction given by the driver or staff. The pupils will be met and greeted by duty staff at the bus parking area at Hameldon College and supervised boarding at the end of the school day. If, during the school day, your child has to return, for example a medical appointment, we will provide the school’s mini bus to transport a pupil back to Haworth Street (if you are unable to provide your own transport) at the agreed time. We will of course need a minimum of 24hrs notice for any such arrangement. Similarly, if a pupil becomes ill during a school day we will contact you as parent/carer and arrange for their return back to Haworth Street for your collection. As stated previously, in any of these circumstances
you may choose to use your own transport and collect directly from Hameldon College. We are currently also working to secure an additional bus service to leave Hameldon at a later time to allow pupils to attend after school clubs/activities and detentions. This will be a single trip service direct to Haworth street. Further details will be confirmed in due course.
