Dual Enrollment

• Complete and return the PSEOP application (counselor required to complete a portion of this application) (priority deadline June 1);

Dual enrollment provides high school students the opportunity to take college-credit bearing courses taught by college-approved high school teachers. Students gain exposure to the academic challenges of college while in their supportive high school environment, earning transcripted college credit at the time they successfully pass the course. Sometimes called “dual credit” or “college in the high school,” dual enrollment partnerships differ from PSEOP because high school instructors teach the college courses or college instructors teach at the high school.

The student is required to consult with an academic advisor within the Office of Advising regarding course selection prior to registration.

Students wishing to participate in dual enrollment within their high school must see their school counselor about available options and to obtain an application.

F. PSEOP students must meet all course pre-requisites. COMPASS Placement testing is required.

PLEASE NOTE: Students attending Rhodes State College under the PSEOP, Concurrent Enrollment or Dual Enrollment Programs are not permitted to participate in collegiate student activities or in any type of collegiate athletics.

PLEASE NOTE: The College assumes that high school students who participate in the Post Secondary Enrollment Options Program are prepared academically to do college work. Students are expected to earn a minimum 2.0 grade point average in Rhodes State College courses. Students attending Rhodes State College under PSEOP are not permitted to participate in extracurricular activities or athletics at the College.

Limited or Selective Enrollment Programs Rhodes State College offers a number of programs within its Allied Health and Nursing Divisions and also Criminal Justice Basic Police Academy that require specific admission requirements beyond the general admission requirements of the College. In addition, a student must be 18 years or older to participate in the clinical phase of a health program. At the present time, the limited enrollment or selective programs are:

Concurrent Enrollment The Concurrent Enrollment Program allows high school students an opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. Since their educational program at Rhodes State College will be in addition to their regular high school studies, only high school students who have demonstrated academic achievement will be considered for the program.

Limited Enrollment

To be admitted to the program, students must have the permission of their parents and the recommendation of their school counselor or high school principal. An official high school transcript must be submitted. Students accepted into the College under the Concurrent Enrollment Program will be allowed to take up to five credit hours per semester. This course load could be increased in certain situations.

Concurrent enrollment students pay the same tuition and related fees as regular students attending Rhodes State College. All students must earn a 2.0 grade point average in Rhodes State College courses in order to continue in the program. Once students are accepted into the program, credits earned apply to their degree program. All concurrent enrollment students must arrange a personal conference with an academic advisor to schedule their coursework.
