NORDIC ID Nordic ID, The House of RFID, provides data capture tools for professional use. We are a respected and well known supplier of barcode and RFID mobile computers and fixed RFID readers. Our success is based on our excellent services and the products’ usability. 25 years ago the R&D Teamleader for Mobira (Nokia) Talkman followed his entrepreneurial aspirations and as a result Nordic ID was born. A retailer was losing money as he was unable to trace his roller cages and crates. The innovator in our CEO jumped to the rescue. And since 1995 more than 150 000 people benefit from the data captured with the Nordic ID mobile equipment on a daily basis. MAKING TRACKING IN HARD CONDITIONS EASY WITH RFID Assistor, a provider of complete logistics for vehicles and spare parts in Finland, wanted increased accuracy and efficiency in their operations. A CONSTRUCTION COMPANY IMPLEMENTS RFID TO TRACK TOOLS A construction company, specialised in innovative technical installations and service for the energy supply sector, decided to tag about 92.000 different kinds of tools and assets to increase real-time visibility and efficiency as well as to provide better service to their customers. The project was conducted by PHI DATA, an AUTO-ID integrator that successfully installed a system that enables reading and keeping track of all incoming and
outgoing tools at 10 different depots. Because of the usage of different AUTO-ID methods in different processes, this required a mobile solution that enables reading of both RFID tags and barcodes. The Nordic ID mobile computers are robust and well performing even in harsh and demanding environments. They are used for association wedge reading when loading all tagged assets to SAP, and as a mobile interface
in a variety of processes to collect data to be fed into SAP. The mobile computers communicate over the Wi-Fi network deployed in all the different sites. A future goal is to also use the wireless network for locating asset containers that are transported in and out of the warehouses.

HF RFID – THE RIGHT SOLUTION FOR YMCA AND AIRBUS A laundry facility, run by Colomiers YMCA in France that cleans work clothes for aircraft manufacturer Airbus, faced challenges with garment tracking and a constantly growing volume. The barcode-based system they used before was sufficient for small volumes, but not for the 2,000 pieces of clothing per day that Airbus would be sending through the facility.
Nordic ID HF RFID mobile computer, that comes with simple, intuitive controls and a highly usable interface, was chosen for mobile RFID and barcode reading. It is used for identifying or changing the destination (locker room) the clothing is in or headed for, as well as for matching each worker’s clothing with the right locker. If an Airbus worker is assigned a new location on the Airbus campus, the information is transmitted to the
laundry control system, the tag is rewritten, and the garment in question is delivered to the new location. The entire RFID implementation cost the YMCA only 200,000 euros and allowed the laundry to reduce the number of steps in processing garments, such as searching for and then scanning garment barcodes, as well as reducing human error.
