Accomplishment Report ALS CY 2012 I. Introduction The Alternative Learning System (ALS) is a very important component in Philippine Education to achieve quality and access to education as envisioned in the Education For All (EFA) 2015 and specifically on the reduction of illiteracy rate. It is envisioned to respond to the expanding need of out-of-school children, youth and adults for lifelong learning. In Bataan, there is a significant increase in the achievement of the following ALS Programs: Nine (9) learning groups in the A & E (Secondary) and one (1) Learning group in the BLP were organized by district ALS Coordinators; nine (9) learning groups in A & E by mobile Teachers and one (1) basic literacy class; seventeen (17) learning groups in the A & E Secondary funded by Local School Board. Organization of A & E classes is a continuous project of the division through the initiative of the Education Program Supervisor I of ALS with the support of the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Romeo M. Alip and the Provincial Governor, Honorable Enrique T. Garcia. This year, 2 A&E classes in Bataan District Jail materialized through the initiative of the jail personnel. Accreditation and Equivalency and Basic Literacy classes will start on January 2013 and will end on October 2013. ALS provides comparable and equivalent option to formal education. In 2011, there were 45 elementary and 599 Secondary A&E Passers, making it to a total of 644 successful passers for the first time. This year, A&E exam was scheduled on December 2, 2012 for Region III. II. Overview of Staff Functions ALS Programs and Projects were facilitated by the 11 Mobile Teachers, 12 District ALS Coordinators and 17 LSB Instructional Managers. Survey mapping undertaken by the District ALS Coordinators and Mobile Teachers last November and December 2012 attributed to the completion of the barangay profile of the different districts for their target learners for the Calendar Year 2013. III. Highlights of Accomplishments A. Full implementation of the program is monitored and supervised by the ES-I in the elementary and secondary schools.
