Women from New Tampa and Wesley Chapel are welcome at all clubs.
Junior Woman’s Club of Wesley Chapel We meet year-round on the 1st Tuesday of each month. Currently we are meeting at the Lexington Oaks Community Center from 6:30-8:30pm.
Woman’s Club of New Tampa We are a 501c3 non profit organization. We usually have a hands on project and or a speaker from the community during our meeting. We meet the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 12 to 1pm at the New Tampa YMCA, from August - May. During June and July we usually pick a location, have lunch and meet potential new members. Members distributed over 100 WHALE car safety seat kits to parents at Hunters Green Elementary School Spring Fling. Parents were encouraged to use the safety information on the back of car seat and booster seats in case of an emergency. Junior Woman’s Club of New Tampa We meet the 2nd Monday of each month, at 6:30pm, at the New Tampa YMCA, from August - May. In addition to the other six GFWC Community Service Program area we work with- the GFWC Juniors also have a Juniors Special Project. GFWC Florida Juniors voted to create the slogan, “One Voice for Children” to emphasis community service for the sake of children. “One Voice for Children” projects are selected based on their ability to have a positive impact on the lives of Florida’s children. Planting pinwheels to raise awareness for Prevent Child Abuse Florida was on display in April. You probably saw them!! Page 6
In April, we focused on International Outreach. We were excited to host a guest presenter, Cindy McFadden, from Fish Company. It is a non-profit which helps to fund orphanages in several parts of the world, including Thailand, Uganda, and Tanzania. They raise money through donations, but also by making and selling hand-made gifts. All of the items they use to make the gifts are donated, and 100% of the proceeds from the sales of these items go to funding the orphanages. She spoke to members about some of the ways in which they help these children, and we did a hands-on project to help her out- we cut fabric out using patterns for homemade crafted handbags and dolls for her group to sell.
The speaker was George Rodman, a 35 year veteran in law enforcement, George spoke to the girl on the subject of internet safety. Some of the information they may have heard before, however repeat, repeat, so it sticks. Much of what George had to say was new and opened their eyes to how dangerous the internet has become. Juniorette Woman’s Club of New Tampa Juniorettes (age 12 - 18) meet on third Monday of the month August thru May. 6:30-8pm at New Tampa YMCA. During the April meeting the girls worked on creating fun and decorative envelopes out of recycled calendar pictures to use to write and mail letters to veterans. They really turned out great! Drug Treatment Court Planning Steering Committee, Government Operations Committee, Insurance Selection Committee, Public Safety Coordination Council and the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board. Commissioner Moore was appointed by the Governor to the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council in 2014 and appointed by Speaker Will Weatherford to the Florida Department of Elder Affairs Advisory Council in 2014.

Brooke Adee
B
rooke Adee is no longer a contestant on The Voice, however her voice carries on. It was quite a journey over the last few years, leading her to the The Voice competition. Brooke was not much into singing until the family went to see the Broadway production, Annie. Brooke, then 8 years old, liked the songs so much that she memorized them and sang them all the time. Her parents, who listened, as she sang, were impressed by her vocal talent; hitting the correct notes, all the time.

Her parents wanted to get Brooke in the Atlanta Workshop Players, unfortunately there was a two year wait. However, when they say her audition, they moved that two years to two weeks and wanted to sign Brooke on in acting.
Brooke is grateful for the opportunity she was given to be on The Voice and get all the way from 40,000 to top 20. She does not regret that she did not win and feels that she now has so many more opportunities because of her experience with The Voice.
Brooke’s mom, Teresa, was so blown away with how fast the opportunities were coming in and a bit distressed. With four children, a spouse who works full time and battling an illness, it was all very overwhelming for her. The family decided to take a break to settle down and live normally for a while. When Brooke was 15, they were ready to promote her again. Jan Smith instantly tried to get her pushed through on The Voice, but it did not pan out. They would need to stand in the long lines outside, hoping for a chance to be heard.

WCAA NEWS LACROSSE It’s been another exciting year for our WCAA Warriors teams as we end our spring recreational season. Boys and girls from U9 to U15 played teams all over the Tampa Bay area learning new and developing lacrosse skills. This year, WCAA Lacrosse added a developmental program for beginners and younger players. Concentrating on learning the fundamental lacrosse skills, the boys and girls played scrimmage games against each other and the Warriors U9 team. This co-ed team has been a huge success and will be added to the summer lacrosse program. At the high school level, the undefeated WCAA Girls’ and Pasco Boys’ teams are preparing to defend their 2014 Florida Gulf Coast Lacrosse League Champion titles. Play-offs began on April 25 at Wesley Chapel District Park. Pasco Lions, competitive travel lacrosse begins in May. Boys U13, U15, U17 and the Girls’ High School team (rising 8th through rising 12th grades) travel throughout the state of Florida and Georgia competing in two to three day tournaments. The U9 and U11 teams continue to hone their lacrosse skills
playing other teams in the Tampa Bay area. There are a few spots available on most teams. Boy’s Pasco Warriors Lacrosse Finishes the Season Strong Wesley Chapel Athletic Association (WCAA) had a tough decision at the beginning of the 2015 high school lacrosse season. With Wiregrass Ranch High School losing its coach, and Wesley Chapel High School lacking the number of players needed, it was decided to merge the 2 teams into the Pasco Warriors.
The team quickly fused and Coach Tom FitzSimons led the Varsity team to the #1 spot (16-1) going into the playoffs, as well as an undefeated JV season (9-0).

WCAA Developmental Lacrosse team.
On the weekend of April 11-12, 2015 the U15 Girls White team from the Wesley Chapel Soccer Club participated in the Florida President’s Cup at the Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale. In this event Regional Cup championship teams competed against each other in a quest for The Florida President’s Cup. Under the leadership of Head Coach Daniel Coimbra and Assistant Coach Jeff Olsen this Wesley Chapel Flames soccer team has continued to reach new heights, and it became the first team from their club to capture a state championship.
The developmental team made tremendous strides this season. While bringing in over 30 players this season, the team developed fundamental skills in players from the ages of 5 to 10. The WCAA developmental program will continue through the end of June. In July, WCAA will be running it’s beginner’s clinic series again during the summer and fall seasons. WCAA Flag Football is pleased to announce that we are now offering co-ed flag football from U7 to High School. This is the first year we are offering a High School division in our league. President’s Cup Championship
The team will now represent the Wesley Chapel Soccer Club and the state of Florida at the Region III President’s Cup held in Lafayette, LA this June. Teams from 11 different states will compete for the chance to play in the National President’s Cup held in Kansas this July.

As the practice of massage has progressed, Smith says, more forms of massage have developed including hot stone massage, aromatherapy and cranial sacral. For 4 years now, members of the Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel have traveled to Las Trojes, Honduras, to spend a week installing water filters, building latrines and teaching hygiene. Their continued work with Pure Water for the World, a Vermont based 501c3, changes communities and betters lives. In total, 25 members from the club have traveled to Las Trojes. The club has really caught on to the goals/vision that PWW has… to prevent children from suffering from water borne diseases that cause pain and misery as a result of consuming contaminated water and improper hygiene habits. They do this by providing sustainable safe drinking water

filtration systems, latrines and hygiene education to families and communities in developing countries. 13 members of the club just returned, in late April, from their trip. For many of them it was their first time traveling to Honduras. “It truly changes your life and theirs.” says Eric Johnson from the club. “A simple water filter installation gives life to children!” In all, the club has built 12 latrines and installed around 60 water filters since they began going to Honduras.The team is sponsored by local companies including, Brock Law, Cash for Gold, Central Bank, NYE Realty and Wesley Chapel Toyota/Honda.
