Will you pass this season’s geometry lesson? Color-blocking has always been popular in the fashion world, and for fall 2014 it’s moving up a level. When everything is very symmetrical, colorblocking can become a tad bit boring. This year, designers are sending models down the runway with a combination of shapes and angles like never before. According To Current Fashion News Clean lines are out and pops of patterned colors are in. When you’re playing around with a lot of geometric patterns and bright colors, sometimes it’s better to have a subtle silhouette. For example, if you’re looking for a crazy, color-blocked graffiti dress, you’ll probably want the silhouette of the dress to be simple. That being said, there are occasions were an extravagant avantgarde look may be more appropriate and obviously way more fun! The best advice – don’t overdo it.

While there are designers who love to play around with 3D shapes like pointed shoulders and boxy skirts, some choose to let the fabric speak for itself. For fall 2014, both are trending. So, if you’re more of a reserved person, wearing a patterned, geometric top with a pair of jeans is perfectly fine. And, if you’re an outspoken kind of girl, play around with the strange shapes you only see on the runway. Geometric shapes are in this season, and you’ll definitely want to pass this fashion test. If you didn’t get the answers right, it might be a good idea to study the runway shows from Fashion Week to get an understanding of this exciting trend. Whatever you do, don’t stick with the symmetrical looks – at least not for the next few months. Play around with colors and patterns, and you’re sure to get an A!
