Mizzou Media Policies and Guidelines Missouri Media Relations The University of Missouri Media Relations Office would like to thank you for your coverage of Tiger Basketball. The 2012-13 basketball notebook is your source for Tiger history and records and please don’t hesitate to contact our office at any time should questions arise. Media Parking A limited number of parking passes are available to the media for the 2012-13 season. Parking will be issued by the Mizzou Media Relations office on a priority basis. Media members covering Mizzou Basketball regularly will receive priority consideration during the initial distribution of these passes. Media Parking is located in Lot G. Lot G is accessible via Champions Drive, which runs East-West between Memorial Stadium (Football) and Mizzou Arena. If traveling east on Champions Drive, Lot G will be located on the Memorial Stadium (North) side midway up the hill. Media Entrance at Mizzou Arena Media members are encouraged to enter Mizzou Arena through the northwest gate located just off of Champions Drive. The “Media Gate” is located adjacent to the media parking in Lot G. Media Credentials Media members wishing to cover Mizzou Basketball must request, in writing or via e-mail, credentials from David Reiter in Mizzou Media Relations. Please include company letterhead in your requests and no requests will be accepted over the phone. The fax number for requests to the Media Relations Office is 573-882-4720. Due to a limited number of media seats available at Mizzou Arena, credentials will be circulated on a priority basis. Please be specific in the type of media credential you are requesting (media seat or photography pass) and only working media will be allowed in the press area. Media outlets violating this policy will risk forfeiture of their credentials for the remainder of the season. Season passes for Tiger Basketball should be received by Nov. 1. Requests for single-game passes should be made one week prior to the contest. Courtside Photography Photography credentials will be issued to certified photographers of daily newspapers, major magazines and television stations in the viewing area of competing teams. Credentials will not be granted for freelance photographers. Photographers will be allowed to shoot along the baselines of Mizzou Arena and

must stay within the designed area, behind the dotted line. Photographers MAY NOT shoot from along the sideline either in front of or behind the press/official tables and must stay clear of the free throw lanes. Camera mounted strobes are strictly prohibited at Mizzou Arena. Only ceiling mounted strobes may be used and other after receiving permission from Assistant Director of Athletics Roger Crumpton. The University requires photographers who install strobes in the ceiling to carry a $1 million liability insurance policy. Photography seating arrangements are designated on a first-come basis. Interviews Members of the media who wish to arrange interviews with Mizzou student-athletes, coaches or administrators must first contact the media relations office. Student-athlete and coach interviews should be scheduled with that sport’s respective media relations contact; administrator interview requests should go through Dave Reiter. All requests for interviews with Mizzou coaches, administrators and student-athletes should be made at least 24 hours in advance. No player interviews will be granted the day of an event or during practice without prior arrangement through our office. Missouri student-athletes are instructed NOT to participate in telephone interviews, unless they are arranged by the Media Relations Office. Ethernet / Wireless Members of the media wishing to place a telephone in Mizzou Arena should contact Verizon (1-800-4831000). Two outside lines are maintained to be used on a first-come, first-served basis, and users must pay all long-distance charges. Ethernet lines are available on a limited basis in the press working area of Mizzou Arena, for a charge of $50 per game or $300 for the season. Wireless Internet access is available free of charge for those interested. Please contact David Reiter in the Media Relations Office for arrangements. Reminder: Prospective Student-Athlete’s Visit As a reminder to members of the media covering all Mizzou athletic programs, according to NCAA bylaw 13.10.5 the institution shall not publicize a prospect’s visit or allow for interaction between the media and a prospective student-athlete during the visit. Please assist us in adhering to this expectation by not initiating contact with a visiting prospect or taking a photograph of the prospect to effectively publicize his/her visit. Violators of this rule will be subject to forfeiture of season credentials and media access.
