Baydoun is a Syrian company based in Malaysia, with several branches in Syria, UAE, Oman, and Qatar. Baydoun Creation Sdn. Bhd. is specialized in interior design, Islamic art, and premium gifts design, besides holding workshops and design training courses. All these services are provided by Baydoun creative team which is well-versed in both academic and market sectors.

Ourstory

Baydoun as the name is derived from the nickname of the Baydoun family which is a historically wellknown family as one of the few Syrian families that inherited the profession of Damascene handmade art. Ajami art is a historical art inherited from the Umayyad caliphate (661–750) CE after aging hundred years of survival. The company was established in 1986 and had achieved several prominent projects in both heritage restoration and modern renovation works including Ajami art that is mainly applied on wooden panels and can be relocated from time to time and inherited from one buyer to another.

Our team of designers and artists from the Islamic world adapted their creativity to evoke their inner beliefs in a series of abstract forms, producing some fantastic works of art.

Rejecting the depiction of living forms, these artists progressively established a new style substantially deviating from the Roman and Byzantine art of their time.

In the mind of these artists, works of art are very much connected to ways of transmitting the message of Islam rather than the material form used in other cultures.

Damascene art

Damascene ('Ajami) handmade art is a historical handmade art made for the high-class people to decorate their castles and palaces, it was invented during the Umayyad time and flourished during the Ottoman period when it become Ottoman art and was sultanate art for all Sultan's palaces at that time.

Damascene art spread in the middle eastern palaces and first appeared to the public in a full Islamic version in the interior of the dome of the rock in Jerusalem, that was initial construction was undertaken by the Umayyad Caliphate on the orders of Abd al-Malik 691–692 CE, The Dome of the Rock is the world's oldest surviving work of Islamic architecture.

Umayyad Mosque also known as the Great Mosque of Damascus is located in the old city of Damascus, the capital of Syria, is one of the largest and oldest mosques in the world that has Damascene art applied on its ceilings and wood panels.
