Years ago, the publisher of American Jurisprudence (a legal encyclopedia) sponsored a series of awards recognizing students who received the highest grades in law school courses. Each award was in the form of a special book volume of the American Jurisprudence set, and hence the awards came to be known as “book awards.” Regent Law has revived this tradition and named its book awards after the award sponsor and founder, Ronald L. Fick, Esquire, the father of Allison Fick, Regent Law Class of 2014. The logo for the Book Award is an eagle holding a book, drawn from Isaiah 40.31: [B]ut those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. The student with the highest grade receives an award plaque. If the course is taught in multiple sections, each section has a recipient. We are deeply grateful to our Event Sponsor, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ). The close partnership between the ACLJ and Regent University’s School of Law has included the hiring of many of our alumni, including several book award recipients.

The law school thanks Ronald L. Fick, Esquire, for his generous sponsorship of the Book Award Ceremony. Mr. Fick is a shareholder of Dunwody White & Landon, P.A., of Palm Beach, Florida, and is a valued friend of the law school and university.
