Industrial accidents are caused by chemical, mechanical, civil, electrical, or other process failures due to accident, negligence or incompetence, in an industrial plant which may spill over to the areas outside the plant causing damage to life and property. Different industries in the country have launched many progressive safety initiatives. Besides emergency medical services, private and public enterprises have started focusing on preventive measures including installation of technologically advanced products such as noise monitoring equipment, control sensors, visualization systems and software etc.

Industrial safety can be broadly classified into two sub segments:Disaster Management: Refers to the identification, mitigation of conditions that might cause industrial disasters and their management. This would include protection not only from natural disasters but also disasters arising from improper management of hazardous materials, products and technologies. Safety tools/equipment: This segment includes within its gamut products and technologies that help in managing fire safety, road safety, sensing, monitoring and control.

Industrial safety can be broadly be classified into two sub segments Industrial Safety Disaster Management: India is highly prone to both natural and industrial disasters, losing about 2% of GDP on an average to disasters. Therefore, the Indian Government spends USD 2 billion a year on disaster management activities. Safety Tools Fire Safety: Due to rapid industrialization and stricter fire safety regulations, the fire safety equipment industry is set to grow at a CAGR of 16% over the next 4 years from USD 2.4 billion market currently. Sensor, monitoring and control equipment: Requirement of such equipment not only in consumer products but also in advanced manufacturing processes. Demand to increase in the future because of the growth in key underlying industries. Demand Drivers:Increased infrastructure spend of USD 1 TN envisaged in the next five year plan, robust growth of the underlying sectors demanding safety equipment, greater focus of companies on health and safety, stricter government legislation and increased spend on raising the safety standard in the country are the key trends driving the safety sector. ¡Challenges: Certain challenges exist, such as, careless attitude of workers towards safety, reliability on imports due to low technical expertise of domestic manufacturing, shortage of safety professionals and huge workforce being employed in the unorganized sector. Despite challenges, safety sector in India looks promising due to the sheer size of the opportunity and bright growth prospects in the future.

THE NEED FOR A SAFETY EXHIBITION Increasing manufacturing and construction activities in India has put the safety industry under the spotlight and hence the urgent need for an exclusive platform. Increasing emphasis placed by organizations on Health & Safety, has clearly enhanced the need to have a safety exhibition.

INDUSTRIAL SAFETY – AN OVERVIEW

Increased Government spending in this sector has resulted in a renewed focus and hence the need to have an exhibition where both technologies and knowledge would be shared. The lack of good forums where the latest safety trends could be seen and discussed directly with manufacturers and suppliers. This shortcoming could be mitigated through a proper safety show. To have a holistic platform consisting of both an international exhibition and conference which would bring together all the
