SERIES The Redline Flight-Series bikes are the ones that all other brands try to catch up to. And for 2011, weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve made it just a little bit harder to do that. The entire line has been reworked to be lighter and faster than ever before. The only way to keep up with a Flight is to ride one.

Exclusive R6 Alloy formed tubing adds performance, saves weight and retains strength. Redline kept the tubing size equal to past Flight frames; instead of using thicker hydro-formed tubing which only adds more weight.

Legendary strength with reduced weight. By removing the bolts on the right side, Redline saved 96 grams (3.4 ounces) on these 2.5 piece Flight cranks.

A bike this fast and light deserves a saddle that has all of the same attributes; Tiogaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s sleek Pivotal D-Spyder saddle fits perfectly.

4. 3D Forged Dropouts This all-new re-designed rear dropouts have reduced unnecessary material; helping make this frame even lighter.

5. Custom Paint & Decals For the finishing touch to these advanced bikes, we created custommasked paint schemes and over-weld decals, all sealed under a light-weight protective clear coat.

6000-series aluminum is an industry-proven standard, and Redline has been using this remarkably lightweight, sturdy, and durable aluminum material on all of the Redline Proline’s for the past decade, as well as the entire 2011 MX-series. Each of our 6061-T6 frames get the same 2-step heat treating process as our R6 frames, which removes stresses and maximizes strength. Before the development of R6, we used 6061 as the main material for our high-end race bikes. It allows us to build dedicated race bikes that are some of the strongest, lightest & fastest available, yet at prices that won’t break the bank. Check out the 2011 Proline-series and MX-series, including the new MX Mini, all skillfully crafted using 6061-T6.

We use only premium-grade chromoly tubing sourced from Japan on our elite, top-of-the-line Device model. This material is then heat-treated after welding, which removes any weakness introduced during welding and maximizes the strength of the tubes. Because of its incredible strength, Redline is able to use butted tubing, meaning the middle sections of the tubes are thinner, which reduces weight, while the welded ends are thicker to maintain strength. This creates a lighter, yet stronger frame than non-heat-treated chromoly. We also use post-weld heat-treated chromoly on Device forks, bars, cranks, as well as Flight cranks. All of our podium-spots at major contests in the past 2 years have been earned using Device heat-treated frames and components. These same parts are available to you right now.

4130 is a high-strength, low-alloy steel with a high percentage of chromium and molybdenum. It is easily welded, and has an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. It is used extensively in aircraft and for auto & motorcycle racing where structures need to be light yet incredibly strong. It is also an excellent choice for bicycle tubing. 4130 Chromoly has been a Redline staple since day one. From our humble beginnings in 1974, the first Redline forks, frame and cranks were built with aircraft-quality 4130 Chromoly. On the current 2011 models, we carefully analyzed and selected the best places to use this strong and light material. Some frames & forks have a few key areas reinforced with chromoly tubes, while others are built entirely from this exceptional material.

Hi-Tensile steel tubing is a very durable yet very affordable material for making bicycle frames & forks. While not quite as strong as chromoly, it is resilient enough for everyday riding and helps keeps the price of the bike at a very reasonable cost. Bikes intended for entry-level riders, for casual neighborhood rides, or for getting to school and back are well served by this material. And just like every other Redline that we build, we put our 30-plus years of research, knowledge and bicycle construction skill into these bikes.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE IN MATERIALS?

R-6 Alloy is a proprietary high-strength aluminum that is structurally superior to 6061 aluminum and is used exclusively on Redline’s Flight frames. Minimal weight and maximum strength have always been the essential inspiration of Redline’s Flight-Series race bikes. The tensile strength of R6 is an average of 33% better than 6061 alloy material, and due to this exceptionally high strength, we are able to use a thinner gauge of tubing. Each R6 frame then undergoes a 2-step heat-treatment process that eliminates stresses introduced during forming, shaping and welding and ages the material to optimum hardness. This results in frames that are some of the lightest available, up to 20% lighter than frames built with 6061 alloy material, while still maintaining the greatest durability and unsurpassed track-handling that our professional riders demand.
