This new gift from Dacus, her third album, was built on an interrogation of her coming-of-age years in Richmond, VA. Many songs start the way a memoir might—“In the summer of ’07 I was sure I’d go to heaven, but I was hedging my bets at VBS”—and all of them have the compassion, humor, and honesty of the best autobiographical writing. Most importantly and mysteriously, this album displays Dacus’s ability to use the personal as portal into the universal. “I can’t hide behind generalizations or fiction anymore,” Dacus says, though talking about these songs, she admits, makes her ache. That Home Video arrives at the end of this locked down, fearful era seems as preordained as the messages within. “I don’t necessarily think that I’m supposed to understand the songs just because I made them,” Dacus says, “I feel like there’s this person who has been in me my whole life and I’m doing my best to represent them.” After more than a year of being homebound, in a time when screens and video calls were sometimes our only form of contact, looking backward was a natural habit for many. If we haven’t learned it already, this album is a gorgeous example of the transformative power of vulnerability. Dacus’s voice, both audible and on the page, has a healer’s power to soothe and ground and reckon.

Each album is pressed on colored vinyl, and the pressings are limited. The albums will be released in a series of three beginning in April. Peter Murphy’s solo career began in 1986 and continues to this day. In addition to his work as the frontman of the legendary and groundbreaking Bauhaus, he has released ten solo albums, in addition to several live releases. Over the last few years, he has staged several multi-night sold-out residencies where he performed a different solo album each night. He also recently reunited with his Bauhaus bandmates for shows.

His last solo album for Beggars, Cascade came after a time of change for Peter Murphy. He had dissolved his longtime backing band and moved to Turkey with his family. After a year of soul-searching and re-discovery, the songs flowed. He said “It confirmed my belief that writing – like painting or any art form – comes from a very silent place that’s not dependent on outside stimulus. It was like rediscovering the initial innocence and purity that’s there when you join your first band.” The album was written with Paul Statham and produced by Pascal Gabriel. It also contains guitar work by noted artist Michael Brook.

A prolific songwriter, Johnson started Rose City Band to have an outlet to explore songwriting styles apart from Wooden Shjips and Moon Duo, where he is often not the lead songwriter. Rose City Band allowed him to follow his musical muses as they greet him and not be bound by the schedule of bandmates and demands of a touring group. Stepping out from behind the psychedelic haze that envelops his other output, Rose City Band’s lean yet richly textured arrangements lay bare the beauty of his songcraft. On Earth Trip, Johnson reveals more of himself than ever before, coloring the project’s country-rock twang with a melancholic, wistful undertone. It charts a journey of personal growth and introspection with surprising honesty, from pining for summers spent with friends to meditations on space, stillness and the splendor of the natural world. It continues Rose City Band’s celebration of summer warmth and the great outdoors, seen from a new vantage point, and with newfound appreciation for the freedom and joy that nature provides. Earth Trip was written during a period of sudden shocks and drastic lifestyle changes for Johnson. Forced to cancel extensive touring plans for 2020, the guitarist found himself home for an extended period for the first time in years. No longer in constant motion, he was able to experience and enjoy the simple pleasures of home life, of being in one place: hikes in nature, bathing outside, and waking with the dawn. Forming new connections to his surroundings, from tending to a garden to sleeping out under the stars, Johnson found hope and healing in a more mindful relationship with the natural world. Themes of recalibration and finding personal space are equally mirrored in Earth Trip’s lean production. Recorded at his home studio in Portland and mixed by Cooper Crain (Bitchin’ Bajas, Cave), Johnson makes deft use of space while experimenting with new sonics. Shimmering pedal steel, woozy harmonica melodies, and stately piano enhance the album’s introspective tone without ever clouding arrangements. Psychedelic elements that nod to Johnson’s other projects and influences still appear throughout, but hover at the edge of perception, a subtle halo adding colour and texture to Johnson’s songwriting rather than taking centrer-stage. He elaborates: “I told Cooper I was trying to capture that feeling when you take psychedelics and they just start coming on - maybe objects start buzzing in the edges of your vision, you start seeing slight trails, maybe the characteristics of sound change subtly. But you’re not fully tripping yet. He got the idea right away and his mix really captures that feeling.” Johnson’s lithe guitar playing throughout treads a fine line between country and cosmic, taut melodies spiralling out into long reverb trails or free-form solos buoyed by a breeze, radiating summer warmth. Through its daring honesty and masteful arrangements, Earth Trip cements Johnson’s place as a singular songwriter of inimitable skill. It’s message of mindfulness and our interconnectedness to the environment expands on a long country and blues music tradition that draws a symbiotic relationship between storyteller and the land, capturing the beauty of the natural world while also emphasising our responsibility in preserving it for future generations.

It also shows the huge talent and energy of a young band near the beginning of their career, who believed they were unstoppable. This never before released recording is the perfect way to kick off the band’s 50th anniversary celebration. Songs performed include Jonathan Richman’s “Government Center,” “The Pepsi Generation,” commercial jingle, and several Rubinoos originals. I was recording for a small record company at their invitation, and Tommy Dunbar, Greg Keranen and Donn Spindt were assigned to be my backing band. Jon Rubin might have also been there as a singer. And boy, were they good. Greg Keranen, the Bass Player, became a lifelong musical partner. I still work with Tommy, and Donno too, from time to time. OVERVIEW Maple Glider is the nom de plume of Naarm/Melbournebased singer-songwriter Tori Zietsch. On her debut album, To Enjoy Is the Only Thing, Zietsch’s vocals melt into layers of plucked acoustic guitar and lulling piano, drawing on the sombre styles of folk contemporaries with a stark tenderness and introspection that assumes the listener is inside her bedroom as she plays for herself. By May 2020, Marc Ribot had begun to find
being depressed depressing. The guitarist and his Ceramic Dog trio—bassist/multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily and drummer Ches Smith—hadn’t played for months. With precautions in place, the trio headed to Ismaily’s Figure 8 Recording studio and set about capturing eight originals that reflect the era’s uncertainty. “Originally,” Ribot says, “we were going to call it Better Luck Next Time, but that felt… somehow unnecessary.” Throughout Hope, Ribot flexes minimalist storytelling skills to sketch life’s ennui—a kind of pointlessness that goes far beyond existentialism. “This record, versus that last one, has more of the effects of political burnout,” he says—and the overriding passion that drove Ceramic Dog back into the studio is palpably audible on every track.

UNHEARD GARAGE GREATNESS! Whatever you call this many monikered group, their impossibly rare 1967 single has been making collectors everywhere salivate. But there’s more to the story– these NY teens made it into the studio to cut 6 additional songs, plus a couple car dealership jingles that rowdily repurpose their iconic single! In 1967 an unknown band called The Whatever transformed Tennyson’s famous poem “The Charge of the Light Brigade” into a magnificent, pulse-racing one-shot garage single called “The Valley of Death.” They were, it turns out, a group of teenage friends from Long Island, New York. Somewhere along the way they connected with Al Locke, a local songwriter and aspiring vocalist in the Frank Sinatra mould. Locke was responsible for dispensing a new name for the group each time they entered the studio, though inspiration was in short supply the day they recorded their lone issued single. “Just call it whatever,” suggested someone, so they did. This quintessential piece of garage rock history is reissued for the first time, with 6 additional studio cuts and a duo of radio jingles that must be heard to be believed!

Florida garage punk that could have been massive if their single wasn’t banned from so many stations. Finally The Vandals get a retrospective, complete with their snowflake melting “Mustang,” three more studio nuggs and loads of live takes of their interpretations of The Kinks, The Knickerbockers, a batch of Beatles, and more! The Vandals originated in Hollywood, Florida in 1964, the same year that saw The British Invasion kick into high gear, the price of a Coke and a hot dog was 49 cents, and the Ford Mustang was born. Several original songs distinguished The Vandals from the plethora of local groups at the time, and the risqué “I Saw Her In A Mustang” was the catalyst that created a huge South Florida following for the group. Sadly it was the incendiary title track’s racy lyrical content that likely kept the band from blowing up. Against these odds, The Vandals made an unmistakable mark on the 60s garage scene with a handful of rare singles and raucous live performances.

WAYNE DAVIS - WAYNE DAVIS Strut present the first ever reissue of an essential lost classic from the Black Fire catalogue, Wayne Davis’ powerful selftitled gospel-soul album from 1976. An accomplished vocalist and keyboard player, Davis had studied in Washington D.C. and had worked with Roberta Flack and she subsequently secured him a recording deal with Atlantic Records; he released the 'A View From Another Place' album in 1973 and Roberta contributed electric piano to one of the tracks. Davis was the dropped from the label and his subsequent album was released by Jimmy Gray on Black Fire. Produced by Jimmy Watkins and Bias Studios manager, Bob Dawson, the album line-up featured the celebrated poet and flautist Wanda Robinson and the horn section from legendary D.C. go-go pioneers Experience Unlimited. Wayne later returned the favour, appearing as a vocalist on Experience Unlimited’s seminal 'Free Yourself' album. This first international reissue of the album features new sleeve notes including band member interviews and original illustrated artwork by Muzi Branch. Audio was transferred from the original tapes by the album’s engineer, Bob Dawson, and was remastered by The Carvery.

Throwing Snow Dragons
Release date: 06/25/2021 Throwing Snow’s fourth album is the audiovisually-augmented Dragons, a work that occupies the space between science and ancestral wisdom. It links music back to its prehistoric capacity for transmitting knowledge to new technology that can untangle the complexity of the contemporary world. Dragons’ ten tracks of heavy primal rhythmic productions incorporate the physicality of acoustic sources, from ancient ritual instruments to modern drum kit, and each track is accompanied by visuals generated by a neural network. The tracks on Dragons match Tones’s ambitions for the album in weight but not complexity. They are intentionally dazzlingly simple in their means, for maximum effect, with repeating motifs, locked basslines, cosmic patterns and full-frequency mids. Often built from four or fewer elements, Tones allows sound to accumulate into his unique take on ritual music for the 21st century. Throbbing ritual dances contain halfremembered earworms revealing glittering night skies of synthesizer patterns. As is typical for Tones’ Throwing Snow project, the album contains a bold and eclectic mix of instruments, from a bodhrán and daf to cello, with their uses rooted in their inherent acoustic properties. Tones also essentially built his own sample pack for the percussion patterns, working with drummer Jack Baker (Bonobo, Kelis, Alice Russell, Planet Battagon) on an intensive two-day session. I sometimes think of Ben Chasny as an occultist of the old school. For all the searing acetylene fire and noise that courses through his work as Six Organs of Admittance, there is something curiously late Victorian about the way his mind operates. For Chasny belongs to the lineage of seekers who, in the face of the fragmenting forms of knowledge in the modern world, held out the last hopes of synthesis: that art might not be parted from religion, nor religion from science—and that science, in some way dimly understood, might still partake of the magical. In both music and conversation, Chasny relentlessly pursues connection, the way this is related to that, the way that recapitulates something else. For a man who has made such singularly original music for the past twenty years, Chasny seems to love mapping the circuits of influence and inspiration that traverse his body of work. (The song titles on Six Organs records often function like a faded card catalog to the library of his mind.) As if the beauty of his music resided in its uniqueness, but the wisdom of if it was to be found in its correspondence with a vast world of visionary discernment down the ages. Chasny’s gift is in making even the mutant rock of his new record The Veiled Sea as enveloping and mysterious as the unsettling chance operations of his Hexadic period. The Veiled Sea is, in some sense, a record built around guitar solos. Not the blown-out deconstructions of his work with Comets on Fire nor the saturnine processions of The Sun Awakens; not even the haunted, lysergic summonings of his early masterpieces like Dark Noontide and Compathia. The ones here are big, open, implacably ascendant edifices crowning the album like church spires over the towns of Europe. They reminded me of the enormous, chiming solos of Katzenmusik-era Michael Rother, but Chasny insisted on a decidedly less rarefied touchstone: 80s American pop shredder Steve Stevens. He of Billy Idol’s band; he of “Dirty Diana”; yes, he of the soaring Top Gun anthem. Chasny continues to draw the improbable lines of connection. The crumpled percussion and pulsing noise of album opener “Local Clocks” washes in and out like the tides of the album’s title. But this Nurse With Wound-ish little rhythmic fragment soon gives way to the truly majestic “Somewhere in the Hexagon of Saturn,” the first showcase for Chasny’s guitar work. Steve Stevens jamming with Ash Ra Tempel, Chasny suggested. An unapologetically humongous guitar peroration descanting over burbling synths. This crashes headlong into the dense, frenetic extraterrestrial rock of “All That They Left You,” more god-tier guitar shred laced atop a wicked backbeat and throbbing synths. Chasny’s keening vocals finally make their appearance but only under the guise of a thick layer of vocoder distortion. This is Six Organs as otherworldly emissary. “All that we left you is all you get,” intones Chasny, metallically. The alien punk of “All That They Left You” is honestly so good, and so strikingly different from anything else in the Six Organs catalog that it made me wonder what Chasny might do with an album of Chrome covers. At the beginning of Side B, the dreamy “Old Dawn” is redolent of the washed-out “pragmatic tone pieces” Chasny released early in 2020 as Sleep Tones, his selfdescribed “go nowhere and do nothing” ambient experiments in combatting insomnia. But the alien soundscapes return in “Last Station, Veiled Sea,” particularly with Chasny’s spectral vocal part. And the guitar pyrotechnics this time, while no less thrilling, are not so much Reagan-era audacity as PSF-style blackened crust. The Veiled Sea closes with an absolutely ferocious cover of Faust’s Beefheartesque “J’ai Mal aux Dents,” featuring, oddly enough, French architect and noise enthusiast Éric Lapierre on backing vocals. The inclusion of the Faust cover at the end offers a kind of key to the entire record. Once can hear distant echoes of the madcap drive and serrated crunch of the Wümme hippies throughout the album. The Veiled Sea is easily one the most viscerally satisfying records in the Six Organs discography. As always, Chasny finds the invisible threads between incongruous sound worlds. Here it’s American guitar heroics and galactic postpunk, Popol Vuhish pastoralism and heavy psych. But these disparate musical regions are here rendered so fully and tangibly, one is struck by the sheer mass of them. It is an improbable universe, but somehow it all connects.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Olivia Kaplan came to music through the American folk and jazz standards swimming throughout her childhood. At 13 she started writing songs on her dad’s Guild acoustic and has dedicated herself to the craft with ever growing acuity since. After pursuing a formal vocal and music education in high school and college, she left a conservatory level jazz program at McGill University in Montreal and made her way back home to record her own songs, while getting her degree in ethnomusicology at UCLA. Olivia has self-released two EPs, Goddamn, I Miss You (2014) and At the Seams (2018), and singles “Comfort Food” (2019), and “What You Want” (2020). 2021 finds her embarking on a new chapter with single “Wrong”, a warm and bouncing groove dedicated to everyone trying their best to find balance in devastation and absurdity. Written and recorded during 2020-21, new album ‘DTx2’ looks ahead to an uncertain future, drawing deep on their experiences and innuences and welcoming a host of co-conspirators. Roughly divided, the album’s rst set of songs make relatively short statements, punchily self-contained with common threads. The nal four tracks, Testing Time, Embers, Embrasure and Echt Embrace disperse into ights of mantric fantasy, with quicksand time-signature shifts and key-changes emerging into a more introspective zone with a fervent pulse, a shift in energy: stamina over speed.

Presences: mixed suite for five performers and nine instruments is a collaborative composition combining live performers, electronics, and computer-controlled acoustic instruments. Over the course of four movements, the work explores a shifting mosaic of textures & interactions using algorithmic composition, improvisation, and performer choice. Using the technique of re-embodied sound, in which small surface speakers are attached to instruments thereby turning the instruments themselves into a kind of speaker, composer Matthew Goodheart orchestrates an evolving world of complex timbres that stands as a hybrid between electronic and acoustic music, performance, and sound installation. This recording feature’s Goodheart’s own international ensemble Broken Ghost Consort (with Georg Wissel – clarinet & George Cremaschi – bass), expanded to include notable new music and improvisation artists Mathias Muche & Melvyn Poore. UFO Över Lappland from Umeå in the northern part of Sweden (also home to Refused) are an instrumental kraut-rock band in the vein of Neu!, Amon Düül II, or early Kraftwerk, but with some post-rock sensibilities. Burnt Toast Vinyl is proud to re-release UFO Över Lappland's self-titled debut album on cd/LP. Their original cassette release sold out very quickly in Sweden and was then picked up for cd/LP release by Germany's Sulatron Records. This original vinyl pressing of the album has sold out and, having listened to this album consistently for the last couple of years, I knew it needed to be reissued in the US. I’m a partner in a Philadelphia brewery, Fermentery Form, and UFO Över Lappland has become one of our most played records, eliciting many questions and comments from patrons. We play a lot of music and UFO Över Lappland seems to get he most attention.

For the Burnt Toast Vinyl version, the audio was remastered by Grammy winning engineer Stephen Roessner (Calibrated Sound, Saxon Shore) and was cut to lacquers by Bob Weston at his Chicago Mastering Service. The LPs are pressed on high quality space purple/pink swirled vinyl from Gotta Groove in Cleveland. UFO Över Lappland‘s follow-up album is being finished shortly and will be released in late 2021/early 2022 on Burnt Toast Vinyl, as well. UFO Över Lappland started playing in early 2013. Three of the members were already playing together as The Magic Lantern, an improvisational experimental post-rock band that had started in the mid 2000s. (The Magic Lantern has an ep released on Burnt Toast Vinyl.) The band felt like they wanted to move towards more space-rock/kraut and focus more on playing live than just creating in the rehearsal place and gradually became UFO Över Lappland. They recorded some songs, created more, played live, recorded more songs ,and started planning for a vinyl release. But, the original Swedish label they had planned to work with had some economic difficulties and had to cancel the release. In 2016, Lee from Fluere Tapes (Stocklholm) offered to release the album on cassette. One of those tapes made it all the way to the Sulatron office in Germany and they wanted to release the songs on LP and CD. So, in 2018, the UFO debut record was released on the Sulatron. UFO Över Lappland received some European media attention from psych and kraut focused media as a result of the release and the band has played live in Umeå with touring bands, as well as other venues in Sweden with a planned German tour interrupted by the pandemic. "We are presented with four fairly lengthy instrumental tracks, fashioned from long jams and distilled down to these awesome songs presented here, on this their first record. The album starts with the twelve plus minute epic that is ‘Keep On Keepin’ On Space Truckin’, a mission statement if ever there was one, with Hawkwind immediately springing to mind, combined with the motorik, pulsating rhythms of say Neu. Over the past three years, Priddy has quietly been building a growing following, captivating audiences around the UK with her haunting vocals, rich harmonies, distinctive finger picking guitar style and enchanting songs whose lyrics celebrate her life-long love affair with literature and poetry. The first: “BLOOD" gathers their collaborators for a farewell set of 'ten songs for noir films'. Very limited LP on Cream / Blue twist vinyl. Emma Houton is a timeless, celestial voice from New York City. Emma originally wrote The Bath as a piece for eight voices to be performed live. Due to the COVID pandemic, she ended up recording all eight parts alone in her childhood bedroom, mixing and producing it herself. On recording the piece, Emma says: “When composing the album I had an interest in recreating the feelings I had hearing folk tales as a kid. We had a giant book of Irish folk tales my grandmother gave me, and I was both fascinated and scared by them! I intended this to be a live performance initially and so the whole album is scored. I write most of my music by constructing layered loops of my voice using a loop pedal and then singing a melody line over them, and I was trying to translate that practice into a live performance in which each “loop” is sung and repeated, creating the effect of looping without actually recording loops. I was hoping to create something where voice is used as an instrument, rather than standing apart from instruments as it often does I took source material from hymns and traditional folk songs, with the lyrics centering on water-related themes like drowning, baptism, and purification, which I tried to reflect in the sonic environment of the piece through enveloping delays, cavernous reverb, and a general sense of being completely immersed in sound. The concept for the piece in its live form is much more of a production than the album itself, which became more of a "how do I record something written for an ensemble alone with an SM58?" project, and I've figured out how to perform these pieces solo with the loop pedal, in a very coming-full-circle turn.” 01. BIO The term “Front Porch Singin’” may actually be a metaphor for many creative and conceptual musical ideas. But, for us, this title has become more of an attitude than anything else. What if the four of us were sitting on a porch together and someone begins to sing a favorite old Gospel song, like “Swing Down Chariot,” or a country and Western standard like “Red River Valley,” and everyone else just joined in? That is what happened at RCA Studio A. But, as usual under producer Dave Cobb’s leadership, this album turned into so much more. The Front Porch Singin’ attitude remained prevalent throughout, as songwriters, musicians, Dave and all four of us kept coming to the table with terrific creative ideas to enhance our Front Porch experience. This project is quite honestly one of the most heartfelt albums we have ever recorded. Perhaps it is because we recorded these songs in the middle of a raging pandemic that changed the face of America and obviously took a huge toll on those of us in the music business. It was a bit strange to social-distance from each other in the studio, but we believe it drew us all closer and, in doing so, we may have inadvertently recorded the perfect project for this time period. These songs, whether new or old, reflect a certain optimism and a deep-seated faith that God will work all of this out as we move forward. “Life is beautiful,” as one song says. We must embrace it and celebrate it with all

These first artists created new electronic musical landscapes as well as pursuing a stubborn D-I-Y aesthetic, often releasing material on cassette and pioneering use of lo-fi technology, primitive drum machines and homerecording techniques. As part of this continued evolution today many of the artists featured here also self-release their own material, run labels, publish fanzines, or are part of wider musical collectives.

Aside from the first electronic, no wave, and post-punk artists cited as influences – Suicide, Patrick Cowley, The Normal, Martin Hannett, Laurie Anderson, Public Image – this new generation of artists also show an exquisitely open source of electronic and disparate influences, everything from Underground Resistance to Purcell, from Scientist to New Beat and more besides.

Most of the featured artists are based in Europe and include Krikor, Dissemblance and VQOA from France, De Ambassade from the Netherlands, Moisture from Sweden, Kreidler from Germany, Céline Gillian and Carcass Identity from Belgium. One exception is FIT Siegel out of Detroit, connecting the electronic pathways of Europe to the Motor City.

All of the bands featured here make distinctive contemporary music out of the 80s roots of the first cold wave movement. This first edition of Cold Wave comes in two vinyl editions – a one-off pressing orange coloured vinyl edition and a black vinyl edition. Both come as heavyweight double vinyl housed in bespoke individual inner sleeves and the limited edition first pressing of this album comes with its own free pull-out fanzine on the groups featured. The CD edition comes with artist booklet/fanzine and slipcase. All editions are printed in special dayglo colour finish.

OVERVIEW Every band has a cache of favorite songs in their catalog they wish had gotten more attention or more airplay, and Crack The Sky is no exception. The 12 deep cuts culled for Between The Cracks were personally selected by CTS band members as the ones that got away from the albums they released between 1983 - 2015. ollowing the success of Ike & Tina Turner, Turner had the finances to create his own recording studio which he called Bolic Sound. The name Bolic derived from the maiden name of his then wife Tina Turner (née Bullock). The studio was previously a furniture store which Turner bought as a shell and had it fully renovated. The facilities began being used for Turner productions in 1970 before opening for business in March 1972. Billboard magazine described Bolic Sound as "one of the most ornate recording plants in the world.” Bolic Sound eventually burnt to the ground under mysterious circumstances, but not before Ike produced a plethora of tracks for himself and Tina Turner.

In the late 1970’s Athens, Georgia was buzzing with a raw but sophisticated music scene. The turn of the decade began producing new sounds from bands like the B-52’s, R.E.M. and Art-Rock luminaries, Pylon. Before they were a band, Pylon were art-school students at the University of Georgia: four kids invigorated by big ideas about art and creativity and society. In 1980 the band released its first record, Gyrate and began touring across the country in support of the release. They would soon develop a following across the country. Shortly thereafter, Pylon went back into the studio. They gleefully pulled their songs apart and put them back together in new shapes, revealing a band of self-proclaimed non-musicians who had transformed gradually but noticeably into real ones. The resulting album was, Chomp. Now, more than three decades later, both studio recordings have been remastered from their original audio tapes and are set for release on New West Records.

Theatre West - Bow To The People Strut presents one of the most in-demand and significant albums from the archives of Jimmy Gray’s Black Fire Records, ‘Bow To The People’ (1976) by theatre collective Theatre West, based out of Dayton, Ohio. Founder Clarence Young III was a US Air Force Vietnam Vet who had been part of a theatrical troupe entertaining soldiers in 15 countries during his tour. When he returned home in 1969, he started Theatre West in Dayton, Ohio as an outlet for inner city youth to come together and express themselves. At its height, the company involved around 27 members. “Everybody played everything and did everything,” recalls bassist Sigmond Dillard. “We all had to sing, dance and act all the time. If someone messed up, you came in. It was a tight unit and we were constantly helping each other out.” “There were so many talented and gifted people in our troupe,” continues Dillard. “Rita Brown went on to New York, starring in the film Disco Godfather during the late ‘70s. Bruce Davis went on to work regularly on Broadway in Chicago, All That Jazz and more. Our Musical Director was Delbert Taylor and he also played with Gil Scott Heron’s Midnight Band and with Slave afterwards in the early ‘80s. Vibes player Ben Wilson and I also played regularly with Gil.” Recorded at Arrest studios in Washington in ’76, ‘Bow To The People’ brought together songs from several of Theatre West’s best known plays including Bow To The People, The System and Black Love and unflinchingly explored serious issues around drug addiction, mental health and cultural awareness. “The whole idea of Bow To The People was to honour our black forefathers,” explains Dillard. “It was important to do that for the kids that didn’t know.” Shelved following the original recording, the Bow To The People album eventually surfaced on a limited CD on Black Fire in 1993. Now receiving its first full international release, the album features the previously unreleased tracks ‘Man Of Many Means’ and ‘I Don’t Know Much About Love’

A mind-bending musical discovery! The previously unreleased music and history of the loudest and most complex hard rock champions out of early 1970s Sweden. The first tasty release in our new series “The Swedish Hard Rock Underground – A Smorgosbord of Heavy Sounds” with the best, but previously unknown and undocumented cream of the crop of Swedish hard rock/heavy psych bands from the stoned 1970s. The fabled Treklöver/Infra band out of the Stockholm, Sweden suburbs early 1970s were known to play louder, and more advanced, than any other band in the land. Their first incarnation was called Treklöver; this killer heavy three-piece power trio them grew in to a four-piece and changed their name to Infra. The band recorded a demo for EMI in 1972, and then another prestigious demo for RSO in the UK in 1974. Had these recordings yielded actual record releases back then music history would have been different, but sadly nothing at all was ever released. But now finally, and for the first time, here are all those amazing recordings presented in their full glory, and directly from the original master-tapes.

(Instead of a release with stupid gimmicks that makes for a crappy playback; like colored/ 180-gram vinyl etc, we’ve concentrated on important things like offering a good vinyl pressin, in-depth liner notes, photos and band co-operation. Manufacturing that isn’t cheap though so hence the price…but it’s worth it for sure).
