First Meeting * Second Meeting * Third Meeting * Fourth Meeting * Fifth Meeting FOCUS ON A TZADIK CLASSIC Anthony Braxton, Milford Graves and William Parker are quite literally three of the most important virtuoso instrumentalists in new music, each a vivid conceptualist as well an influential composer/performer. Daptone Records is honored to announce the release of Innov Gnawa's full-length, Lila. Formed in NYC, this grammy-nominated group of Moroccan expats has been making waves locally and abroad with their hypnotic live shows. The group is led by Ma'alem Hassan Ben Jaffar, a master musician and spiritual elder of the ensemble who plays a three-stringed african bass known as a guembri. Ben Jaffar is accompanied by a brotherhood of musicians – (Amino Belyamani, Ahmed Jeriouda, Samir Langus and Nawfal Atiq) – all playing the qraqeb, metal castanets that represent the shackles and chains of slaves and also singing chorus responses. Gnawa music is a spiritual tradition rooted in Moroccoʼs ancient history. Often referred to as “Sufi Blues”, Gnawaʼs African influence originated from West African slaves brought to Morocco centuries ago. Not unlike blues music in the American South, Gnawa music is revered throughout Morocco as treasured indigenous soul music. After seeing a performance at a mutual friend's party, producer and local Gnawa enthusiast, Bosco Mann, invited Innov Gnawa to come record some tracks at The Daptone House of Soul. The invitation was accepted and over a five-hour session, the group tracked an entire albumsʼ worth of material - all in one take. The session tracked that evening is what we humbly offer up to you, the beloved Daptone Family. Lila, literally meaning "night" is a traditional ceremony in which the Ma'alem and his qraqeb ensemble dedicate an evening of healing through music. This all-night rhythm fest is a spiritual ritual which cleanses the body, mind, and spirit. We invite you to immerse yourself in Lila. Experience Freedom, Liberation and the power of healing through music. The spirit of Gnawa is people. Experience the freedom, liberation, and power of healing through music. You are not alive if this music doesn't move you.

MARKETING HIGHLIGHTS • Grammy-nominated (Featured on track by Bonobo) • LP includes insert w/ liner notes • Previous press coverage in NPR, Brooklyn Vegan, WNYC, KCRW and others • PR Campaign by Stephanie Weiss • Radio Campaign by Co-Sign Promotions

TŌTH Album Title:

You And Me And Everything Catalog #: NS 138 Release Date: 04/30/21 Standard Black Vinyl LP: 309272740158 Indie Exclusive “White” Vinyl LP: 309272739879 Compact Disc: 309272739084 RIYL: Chet Baker, Arthur Russell, Rubblebucket, Twain, And The Kids, Rostam, Cocteau Twins, Lady Lamb

On his second solo album as Tōth, You And Me And Everything,

Rubblebucket cofounder Alex Toth embarks on a journey of transformation and self-discovery. Surrounded by cascading folk rock, celebratory horns, and jaunty piano, he finds himself falling in love after the dissolution of a 12-year-long relationship and learning how to deal with deep-seated grief. From the “why not?” attitude that drives the celebratory “I Might Be” to the vivid imagery that positions “Turnaround (Cocaine Song)” as one of his strongest lyrical efforts yet, Tōth uses his latest album to push himself as both a musician and a person. The result brings to mind the heartfelt vulnerability of Arthur Russell, the woozy jazz of Chet Baker, and the playful melodic breadth of the Beach Boys. The only thing we know for sure about love is that it’s an adventure. On You And Me And Everything, Tōth comes to terms with that truth and invites you to join him on the unpredictable, fulfilling ride. “brilliant” –NPR “achingly beautiful” –Gorilla vs Bear “heart-breaking vulnerability portraying the turmoil of unrequited love” –Line of Best Fit “something like a lost Beach Boys session produced by Brian Eno.” –Aquarium Drunkard “dreamy songwriting...a beautiful, sighing return, reminiscent of Cocteau Twins” –Clash “mesmerizing” –The Independent “robust indie rock melodies and a wistful horn section” –PAPER Magazine

MICHAEL NESMITH: DIFFERENT DRUM—THE LOST RCA VICTOR RECORDINGS STREET DATE: APRIL 30, 2021 Michael Nesmith has always travelled to the beat of a “Different Drum”–whether as the writer of that classic hit for Linda Ronstadt and The Stone Poneys, the wool hat-clad member of The Monkees, or one of the earliest progenitors of the country-rock genre. In recent years, Nesmith has penned a critically acclaimed autobiography, reformed the First National Band to sold-out audiences, and both recorded and performed live to fans young and old with The Monkees. Now, Real Gone Music and Second Disc Records are proud to present a major deep dive into the Nez archives. Different Drum: The Lost RCA Victor Recordings features 22 tracks drawn from the RCA Victor vaults, every one of which is previously unreleased in any physical format. Over six RCA albums released between 1970 and 1973, Nesmith blossomed as a singer, songwriter, bandleader, and producer under the aegis of RCA Nashville legends Chet Atkins and Felton Jarvis. With bandmates including legendary pedal steel guitarist O.J. “Red” Rhodes, John Ware, and John London, Nesmith pioneered country-rock with a spiritual and searching style all his own. Different Drum premieres on CD some of his most remarkable musical explorations from this vivid period including cosmic reimaginings of Monkees-era favorites like “Tapioca Tundra,” “Magnolia Simms,” “Circle Sky,” and “Listen to the Band;” unheard outtakes like “American Airman” and “Six Days on the Road;” vastly different alternate takes of “Different Drum,” “Dedicated Friend,” and “Tengo Amore;” and even an early version of “Marie’s Theme” from his cult classic multimedia project The Prison. The mind-altering music on Different Drum has been mixed from the original multitracks by Andrew Sandoval and mastered by Vic Anesini at Sony’s Battery Studios, while Papa Nez himself has contributed insightful new commentary to the liner notes by The Second Disc’s Joe Marchese. Rare photos by renowned photographer Henry Diltz and previously unseen images round out this landmark package. Different Drum is a freewheeling, widescreen journey through the world of one of rock’s greatest iconoclasts. Don’t take our word for it: listen to the band!

THE OUTER LIMITS (Limited Blue with Black Swirl Vinyl Edition) STREET DATE: APRIL 30, 2021 We’ve put out a lot of rare albums here at Real Gone Music, but this one might be the rarest: right now there’s just one copy for sale online for over $1000! That’s partly because this 1993 record only came out briefly on vinyl in Europe…but it’s also because The Outer Limits offers the unique blend of atonal riffs, off-time tempo changes, and sci-fi imagery that made this Quebec band such a shining star in the Canadian metal scene. The Outer Limits features a great cover of Pink Floyd’s “The Nile Song” (Voïvod had covered “Astronomy Domine” on their 1989 album Nothingface), but without question the album’s centerpiece is the winding 17-minute song “Jack Luminous,” which is something of a prog-rock masterpiece. Our first-ever domestic vinyl reissue comes with a jacket and inner sleeve boasting lyrics and drummer Michael Langevin’s illustrations. Blue with black swirl pressing limited to 1500 copies!

In the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, the art form we call jazz exploded into endless permutations, including free jazz, spiritual jazz, soul jazz, fusion, and funk. At that time, a number of black-run collectives organically sprang up across America, dedicated, in the words of Watts-based UGMAA (Union of God’s Musicians and Artists Ascension) founder Horace Tapscott, “[to play music} about depicting the lives of black people in their communities all over this country, where it has been turned around and people have been made to feel unworthy.” In Chicago, there was the AACM (Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians), which spawned among many other artists the Art Ensemble of Chicago. In Brooklyn, the CBA (Collective Black Artists) included Reggie Workman, Donald Byrd, and Stanley Cowell (co-founder of the Strata East Record label) among its members. In Detroit, Wendell Harrison, Phil Ranelin, and others formed a collective called The Tribe. And from Oakland came Black Jazz Records, founded by pianist Gene Russell and percussionist Dick Schory. Reputed to be the first jazz record label started by an African-American since 1921, its mission statement was “to promote the talents of young African American jazz musicians and singers.” Under Russell’s artistic direction, the label only put out about 20 albums during its short, 4-year (19711975) tenure; and then, due to ownership issues and general neglect, the label went underground. Way underground, in fact…but not so far down that a new generation of crate diggers and DJ’s weren’t able to discover the label’s incredible array of modal, soul, funk, and free jazz, much of it imbued with the political and spiritual concerns of the day (and selling for a pretty penny online). Finally, in the ‘90s and early ‘oughts, the Black Jazz catalog emerged on CD in Japan; but for the most part, the entire label’s output was never reissued on vinyl anywhere. We at Real Gone Music first began tracking down the rights to the Black Jazz label back in 2017. Finally, after a couple of leads went cold, we were able to connect with the rights-holders in early 2020… right before quarantine and the subsequent events that triggered worldwide protests for racial equality. Obviously, the release of this politically aware material, originally recorded in an era of similar social and cultural ferment, couldn’t be more timely. But this music succeeds on a deeper level than just a reminder that the struggle against prejudice continues unabated 50 years later. It offers manifold moments of beauty that remind all of us of our common humanity and the love that, if we let it, binds us all. We are very, very proud to present the Black Jazz catalog on LP, remastered by Mike Milchner at Sonic Vision Mastering, and pressed on black vinyl at Gotta Groove Records with lacquer cutting by Clint Holley and Dave Polster at Well Made Music. Produced by Real Gone Music’s own Gordon Anderson, each vinyl reissue features the original black-and-white Black Jazz album artwork, which, on early releases, featured an identical front and back cover, with the back cover turned “upside down,” allowing for the album title to be visible regardless of how the LP was sitting in the record store rack. And, both our vinyl and CD releases will feature added liner notes by Pat Thomas, author of Listen Whitey! The Sounds of Black Power that draw a straight line between what was happening then…and what is happening right now. Real Gone Music will donate $500 to the Equal Justice Initiative with the release of each Black Jazz album.

CHESTER THOMPSON: Powerhouse (Remastered CD & Vinyl Edition) STREET DATE: APRIL 30, 2021 With long-standing stints in Tower of Power and Santana, Chester Thompson just might be the most decorated and distinguished keyboardist in all of rock and R&B, let alone of the Bay Area musical scene. It’s little wonder that this 1971 album, then, is one of the rarest and most coveted albums on the highly collectible Black Jazz Records label—it’s Thompson’s debut record, cut a couple of years before he joined Tower of Power, with a smokin’ band featuring fellow Black Jazz recording artist Rudolph Johnson on sax along with ace drummer Raymond Pounds (Pharoah Sanders, Stevie Wonder, Pointer Sisters) and trombonist Al Hall (Johnny Hammond, Freddie Hubbard, Eddie Harris). And, yes, Powerhouse comes by its title honestly…it’s jazz, all right, but injected with a jolt of electricity courtesy of Thompson’s Hammond B-3, and with just four tunes spread out over two sides, it’s pretty much a nonstop groove. Newly remastered, and with liner notes featuring quotes from fellow Tower of Power member Dave Garibaldi and Bay Area keyboardist Todd Cochran a.k.a. Bayeté that testify as to Chester Thompson’s greatness, this is another long-lost triumph from the Black Jazz label. First-ever vinyl reissue!

Betts—who, with Duane Allman, designed an enduring style of rock guitar harmony in the original Allman Brothers Band. In this set recorded at various points between 2005 & 2008 in which he offered Allman Brothers hits as well as songs from his solo records, shows how important a guitarist Betts is, and how he still can connect with an audience. “There are many layers of responsibility in most situations, and many layers of responsibility to the damages that occur from “love”. This is a very different album of “love” songs.”

—Johnny Indovina / Human Drama

One of the longest-lived American goth-inspired bands, Human Drama is the vehicle for singer/multi-instrumentalist Johnny Indovina, who has overseen the group through various incarnations and stylistic experiments. Indovina’s strong, albeit tender enough singing and ear for darkly passionate and dramatic music is the unwavering core of their darkly seductive journey. Supported by a devoted following in United States, Mexico, and South America, BLURRED IMAGES as the title suggests, displays a vast array of textures and emotions. The new CD includes a second bonus disc, the soundtrack from the Human Drama Documentary SEVEN DAYS IN MEXICO now on Netflix, and the song “ODE TO L.A., While Thinking Of Brian Jones, deceased” based on a Jim Morrison poem.

with one last roundup at the infamous Egg Studios, Seattle WA, produced once again by Conrad Uno (who also struck gold with The Presidents Of The United States Of America). When heard that Uno was closing up his studio and retiring from the limelight, the band grabbed a last weekend to record a couple songs (they had THREE in various shape of decomposition). A couple days later there were 17 tracks, of which 12 were deemed PERFECT. “Gear Summer 2013” is Everything-Is-Falling-Apart-In-Three-Minutes, and was planned to be a smash summer single — in 2013 (amazingly, things have gotten worse). The Buzzcocks and Rezillos concur. “Never Had It Bad” heralds the spring with blue jays and more sad punk-pop problem-solving, Ramones-style. And don’t miss the heart-rending saga of a rock and roll band(s) (#47 in a series) “Bleed Out”.

Posy is readying his live show and touring plans are taking shape for Fall 2021

The ‘Abroad EP’ catalogues a period of time spent travelling Japan in the spring of 2019. Throughout the course of the month-long trip, Rudy carried around a portable recorder, capturing various sounds that caught his ear. That collection of found sounds would eventually become the foundation for the EP, each track utilizing a handful of different recordings ranging from bird calls in Tokyo’s Yoyogi Park, to windchimes in fr the coastal town of Kawazu. The EP took a full year of patient, daily work to complete, during which time Rudy invited a diverse group of collaborators in to help nish the songs. Throughout the recording process, harp, saxophone, and violin parts were added to create a unique blend of organic and electronic sounds.

POSY is the recording name of Rudy Klobas, Portland-based producer and multi-instrumentalist with a unique sound that intersects jazz, R&B, and electronic music. Originally trained on classical guitar, POSY gradually taught himself piano, bass, and drums and began writing and recording his rst songs on a four-track cassette recorder. POSY’s music is lush and densely layered, but maintains an element of simplicity l that ultimately leaves one feeling relaxed, nostalgic, and hopeful all at the same time.

John Cameron Mitchel + Eyelids TURNING TIME AROUND SIDE A Turning Time Around (Lou Reed) SIDE B Waves of Fear (Lou Reed) I Found a Reason (Lou Reed) • Cover art by Hedwig designer Miguel Villalobos • Produced by Peter Buck • Limited edtion LIME GREEN vinyl • First time available to retail

It’s not just any old love letter to Lou Reed. It’s also not just a love letter to exes, or to New York, or to mothers. It’s an EP made from years of happenstance and relationships and kismet. John Cameron Mitchell, the legendary writer/director/performer of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and most recently, the podcast musical Anthem: Homunculus, with the help from his friends in Eyelids, curated the Lou Reed songs for the Turning Time Around EP. The story goes, "Lou Reed is probably my favorite musical artist. Hal Willner and Laurie Anderson asked me and my Anthem: Homunculus composer Bryan Weller to sing "Turning Time Around" (from Lou's album Ecstasy) and my favorite Velvet Underground ballad "I Found a Reason" at a special Lou Reed Day at Lincoln Center. I extrapolated on Lou's melody and, inspired by performance artist Justin Vivian Bond, mashed it up with WB Yeats' poem "The Second Coming" rewriting "what rough beast slouches towards Bethlehem to be born" as "what orange beast..." Who could that refer to I wonder? My buddy Chris Slusarenko, who produced our Hedwig tribute album "Wig in a Box", invited me to sing Turning with his wonderful Portland Oregon band Eyelids. Bryan suggested we record it as a benefit disc for my Mom's Alzheimer's care. We added "I Found" and my late boyfriend Jack Steeb's favorite Lou song "Waves of Fear" (Jack used to work for Lou). REM guitarist Peter Buck hopped on as producer, Hedwig designer Miguel Villalobos came up with killer cover art and here we are.”

Holy Sons is Emil Amos, a musician whose chameleonic tendencies and technical versatility has lead to him becoming an in demand multi-instrumentalist as a founding member of Grails and Lilacs & Champagne, as well as a member of Om and a hired gun for Jandek, to name a few. Holy Sons is at the center of his many musical personalities and is his longest standing project, acting as an outlet for some of his most personal and direct songs. In Holy Sons, Amos puts his restless imagination to work using a variety of inventive home recording methods to turn melodic slow-burners into multi-layered, atmospheric missives. While his methods and prolificacy provide a kinship with Sebadoh and other musicians who have offered countless transmissions from their bedroom floor, Holy Sons comes from the mind of someone who has internalized the minutia of 70s rock music and eschews the stereotypical lo-fi sound for a much deeper and more varied palate. The Fact Facer, his Thrill Jockey debut, bathes Amos’ thoughtful, and even at times philosophical, songs in technicolor darkness, and reinforces Holy Sons as his musical centerpiece. The songs on The Fact Facer creep up on the listener, their fiercely addictive melodies unraveling slowly and purposefully. Jumping smoothly between many facets of Amos’ songwriting, the album does much to establish him as a talented multi-instrumentalist. From the lysergic leads of “Selfish Thoughts”” to the Danny Kirwan referencing solos of “Transparent Powers” and the skillful acoustic flourishes of “The Fact Facer,” Amos proves himself as adept and creative a guitarist as he is a drummer. It is telling that Amos has built up two Holy Sons bands simultaneously: one based in Portland and one based in New York. Wherever the wind takes him, there are musicians willing to pick up their instruments and follow his lead. ALSO AVAILABLE : Fall of Man CD/LP (Thrill 397) Raw and Disfigured CD/LP (Thrill 530)

Holy Sons is Emil Amos of Om, Grails, and Lilacs & Champagne The Fact Facer is available again following the 2020 release of Holy Sons’ Raw & Disfigured The Fact Facer is a collection of home recorded atmospheric slow-burners, steeped in 70s rock with an experimentalist edge “The most admirable thing about Amos’s songwriting is his willingness to leave empty space in his songs, even though multiple tracks of vocals and instruments go into each composition” - Pop Matters “ The Fact Facer is easily Amos’ most focused offering yet, and a perfect entry point into a back catalogue that’s sure to have listeners drinking the KoolAid again and again.” - Exclaim

Sprague, Popol Vuh During an artist residency in the thick of a pandemic, alone in the woods with an $80K concert piano at the bottom of the Appalachian mountain range, Ben Seretan set out to finally make the piano recordings he had always wanted to make: pristine, clean, ringing, indeterminate. As it turned out, a generouslywindowed dance studio in the Georgian woods was never quiet enough: movement, regular breath, rain hitting the roof, the relentless din nature. And the critters were remarkable. Crickets and feral cats hissing and all manner of birds and, ever-presently in the evening, huge swaths of cicadas, enormous swarms of them, so loud and so multidirectional that it sounded like they might lift the dance studio right off of the earth. “I realized within five minutes of putting on my headphones that there would be no way to make any clean recording while I was in Georgia, any sound I captured from the piano would capture some other sound, too. There would be no silence whatsoever, and so I let the world in, instead.” Cicada Waves documents an artist adapting, something we’ve all had to do during a surreal and devastating year full of remarkably strange circumstances. The recordings are shared with as little artifice as possible - there are no edits or comped parts, no mixing, no second takes. The sounds you hear are, more or less, exactly the sounds that happened in the world at that moment, as chaotic and full of sound as they ought to be.

KUČKA Wrestling

CAT NO: LM069LP (Vinyl) LM069CD (CD) UPC: 5060384619507 (Vinyl) | 5060384619514 (CD) RELEASE DATE: April 30, 2021 Overview:

LA-based producer KUČKA’s debut album, Wrestling, is a personal and intimate collection of songs – but it is also relatable in its evocation of universally human themes and experiences. In her own words, “I like the idea of someone else hearing the songs and being able to wear them, to transfer the lyrics to their own life.” She has worked alongside a number of high-profile collaborators, producing and singing on tracks with artists as diverse as Flume, A$AP Rocky, Vince Staples, SOPHIE, Fetty Wap and Kendrick Lamar. On Wrestling, the intricate production of KUČKA’s earlier EPs is placed in the service of her most beautifully rendered songs to date. While her music has often leaned toward the experimental, Wrestling is marked by a conscious effort to produce tracks that work as ‘songs’ (she wrote over fifty pieces before narrowing them down to the eleven here): lyrics are personal and literal, their open emotionality contrasting with the simple but hyper-digital production within which they are embedded. As with KUČKA’s previous releases, the album is self-produced. There is no definitive genre uniting the album beyond its broadly ‘electronic’ palette but the open emotionality of the album’s lyrics contrasts with the simple but hyper-digital production within which they are embedded. ELDEN - NOSTROMO Nostromo

DESCRIPTION Elden believes in the power of heavy metal riffs, melodic choruses and an all out head banging experience. Formed in 2012 in Karlstad, Sweden, the band started writing songs influenced by artists like Mastodon, Baroness, The Sword and classic bands from the 70´s and 80´s. Come 2015, Elden released their first EP and started touring across the country. Having built a small following of both local and international fans the band started developing their sound, taking their songwriting in an interesting direction – even heavier riffs, more distinct vocals and an overall more impressive production. Debut album “Death and Fear” hit the shelves in November 2016 and got fantastic reviews: After touring Sweden to support the latest album, Elden looked to perform outside their Nordic home. In the summer of 2018 the band got the opportunity to support Stoned Jesus in Zagreb, Croatia. TRACKLIST 1. Relapse 2. Sail & Saviour 3. Anubis 4. Fossilised 5. Heavy Rain 6. Nostromo 7. Creature Follows 8. The Passage

Having been picked up by critically acclaimed label Fuzzorama Records, Elden will release their new album “Nostromo” on the 24th of January 2020. Inspired by the cold darkness of time and space, these are by far the best songs the band have written.

QUOTES

“We knew the new album had to be special. We’ve been away for a while. The first album was a straight shot, the second on the rocks, with this new one we had to kick down the brewery doors!” Pete Spiby. Black Spiders have crafted an album that features 13 tracks of high-energy, feel-good rock n’roll contrasted by demonic doom that despite the disjointed, isolated way it was recorded. It sounds like a band, firing on all cylinders. “We had to dig down deep to pull out some gems and what would we want from Black Spiders,” questions Pete. War, vengeance, mental health, death, conservation & climate change, where are we from? Relationships, friendships, our flaws. Where are we going? Alien life and Mother Earth - some of which made the record.” Kicking off with the aforementioned ‘Fly In The Soup’ single, this 3rd ST long-player wastes no time in grabbing you by the scruff of the neck and dragging you through an album where good times, hooks and riffs are not in short supply, but the doom-drenched likes of ‘Wizard Shall Not Kill Wizard’ and the psychedelic groove of album closer ‘Crooked Black Wings’ give us an album of many moods and dynamics and a reason to be cheerful in 2021. And why does the album have no title? “It wasn’t hard picking a title for the album, as we decided that the focus should be on the band, not the album title, so we decided not to have one. Let the music do the talking....

Golem 202020 is a 10-track recording synthesis curated from the full soundtrack of the classic silent horror film ‘Der Golem, wie er in die Welt kam’ created by the Italian avant/post/progressive rock band STEARICA. The soundtrack was originally commissioned by The Italian National Museum of Cinema and the Traffic Free Festival and was performed in the museum’s cinema as a live soundtrack to the film as part of the MITO/Torino-Milano International Music Festival, in September, 2011. In 2013, the band performed the live soundtrack at the Ravenna Nightmare International Festival - the main horror and fantastic film festival in Italy - and the Rimusicazioni Film Festival in Bolzano, winning the Audience Award. The ten tracks, which cover the five chapters into which the film is divided, were recorded live in 2014 during a studio session organized to immortalize the work, with further embellishments added in 2019 while still maintaining the original arrangement. Armellodie Records is proud to present Cock of the North, the new album from Yip Man or as oft referred, Yip Man of Scotland. Yip Man is one Al Nero and Cock of the North continues his escapades of joyful abandon, with the pervasive sense of fun that Nero has been channelling since his debut album, 2016’s Braw Power, and follow up, Pure, Zen Ken?, in 2019. Heralded as “a power-pop genius” by BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway, Yip Man’s talent for hooks and ability to sculpt complex rhythm and harmony into digestible chunks of unashamed pop is his herculean strength. Not least on Cock of the North’s three glorious singles, ’Evil Doppelgänger’, ‘What’s Your Secret?’ and ‘Dangling Carrots’. Three albums in, Nero is a well-seasoned songwriter and Cock of the North is further evidence that this is Yip Man at the top of his game; stuffed full of structural twists and turns, razor-sharp riffs, and deeply satisfying choruses. Be advised to spend some time in Yip Man’s world, a glorious mix of pathos, empathy, tragicomedy and, importantly, fun. As Nero proudly declares on the title-track, “this is the big one, you can’t ration fun, there is enough to go round!” 1. Cock of the North, 2. Bullshit Detector, 3. Spiritual Bypass, 4. Djinn - Transmission

DJINN - the Swedish collective featuring members of Hills and GOAT in their ranks - have proven themselves a potent and mysterious force. Following the ‘Avant De Servir’ tape which was released on Swedish label Zeon Light last year, ‘Transmission’ is a still more intrepid step into new terrain for DJINN - the mantric rhythms are hypnotic here, the freeform extrapolations hit new peaks of vivid abandon, and the moments of calm are blissfully meditative. Yet their sound palette extends into refreshing collisions of intent and metaphysical intensity that echo across the psychic landscapes of Sunburned Hand Of The Man-style freak-folk, as well as the polylingual fusion of jazz, European and Asian music that Don Cherry essayed on 1969’s ‘Eternal Rhythm’ and 1973’s ‘Organic Music Society’. Amidst these intoxicating and richly eclectic soundworlds, the band are just as comfortable invoking Popol Vuh (as on the mellotronabetted title track) Art Ensemble Of Chicago and the lineage of Swedish underground music that found epiphanies in the radical folk-psych of Arbete Och Fritid whilst also sounding - crucially - like no-one but themselves. For all the farreaching explorations of altered states by which DJINN set out their stall, this collection of mystical headspaces - in all its fearless and feral glory - is proof positive that the band’s journey has only just begun. This transmission is set to ring out across dimensions unknown.

Thirty Pounds of Bone - whence, the Armellodie Records LP

ARM78LP

0635131587719

Sixth full-length album by Thirty Pounds of Bone and the third in a series of records that play deliberately with the affordances and problems of studio recording. This time around Johny has focused on the tiny details of sadness, largely inspired by the events of ‘A Story of Long’ where the central moment of the song is observing a close friend pouring his husband a glass of water in a hospice, just some few hours before his death. This was an intimacy and time that Johny did not expect to be a part of (the album is dedicated to the couple in question). But this stirred a way of thinking about how huge events are often typified or defined by very small gestures or happenings, and each of the tracks here comes from that place. Be it the existential crisis brought on by stripping wallpaper in ‘Woodchip’, how a single day might signify the end of a long relationship (‘A Note to Myself’), or the miniature resignations to compromise we make in professional life which eventually overwhelm our very identity (‘The Cynical Start to a Jaded Career #1’). Johny’s lyricism and composition remain oblique but touching, and these songs of little moments of sadness, regret and grief are built to remain small. They are paradoxically content in their sorrow and should perhaps be kept as companions to similar feelings. “Organic and immediate. Music you can touch with your fingertips” The Irish Times // “Talent to appeal far more than only folk fans alone" Record Collector // “Exquisite index of gin-soaked desolation.... Lamb sings like a man unable to see beyond keeping a stiff upper lip to the end of the song. Even if he manages it, you might not.” 1. A Note To Myself, 2. You Made Me, 3. A Story of Long, 4. But Sad, 5. Descender, 6. The Cynical Start to a Jaded Career #1, 7. Sing, 8. This Dog, 9. Woodchip

“Yard Act have cemented themselves as one of the most exciting bands on this Green earth” - So Young Having sold out their first two 7”s in double quick time, and in response to huge demand, Yard Act have compiled their first four tracks on Red Ash vinyl, limited to a run of 1500. Yard Act formed in Leeds in late 2019 when Ryan Needham found himself temporarily living in James Smith's spare bedroom. The two had been pub associates for years, but their new living circumstances served as a catalyst for their friendship and creative partnership which saw them fuse James' interest in spoken word with Ryan's primitive proto-punk demos using an ancient drum machine and borrowed bass guitar. Yard Act’s rise since arriving in March 2020 with debut track ‘The Trapper’s Pelts’ has been nothing short of extraordinary, even without the opportunity to showcase their incendiary live set. Their first releases last year proved an instant hit with national newspapers (The Observer, The Times, The Independent, and The Guardian) and radio stations (BBC Radio 6 Music (‘Fixer Upper’ and ‘Peanuts’ were both daytime playlisted), BBC Radio 1 and Radio X) alike. The band rounded off 2020 with spots on the NME 100, Dork HYPE List, The Daily Star ‘Ones to Watch 2021’, Gigwise ‘21 for 21’, and Selector Radio’s ‘New Wave Artists 2021’. Single ‘Fixer Upper’ landed on Loud & Quiet and So Young Magazine’s ‘Tracks of the Year’, while ‘Peanuts’ earned a place as BBC Introducing West Yorkshire Track of the Week, as well as being playlisted at NME, So Young, and The Independent alongside appearing on the cover of ‘The Punk List’ and ‘Hot New Bands’ at Spotify.

NANCY WILSON YOU AND ME OVERVIEW Nancy Wilson has recorded 16 albums and sold over 35 million albums worldwide with her band, Heart. Within that history-making career, You and Me represents something special, as it is Nancy Wilson’s very first solo studio album.

You and Me was primarily recorded in Wilson’s California home studio, working with band members and special guests remotely. Most of the tracks are originals, but Wilson decided to include a handful of covers by a few of her favorites, including her moving version of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Rising,” a female perspective of Pearl Jam’s “Daughter,” a stirring turn of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Boxer” featuring Sammy Hagar, and an ethereal cover of the Cranberries “Dreams,” featuring Liv Warfield from Nancy’s previous band Roadcase Royale. The album also includes Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, and Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins on a new track, “Party at the Angel Ballroom.”

TKAY MAIDZA

Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 2 Tkay Maidza is a tour de force on her new EP Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 2. Her mastery of sonic versatility takes center stage on the assertive eight tracks that weave from whiplashinducing spitfire summer anthem and lead single ‘Shook’ to smooth boy-bye manifesto ‘Don’t Call Again (ft. Kari Faux)’ to trap-infused ‘Awake (ft. JPEGMAFIA)’, which was nominated for a 2019 ARIA award and earned a best of the decade nod from The Needle Drop, as well as praise from Pitchfork, The FADER, Dazed, Complex, and others. The release follows 2018’s Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 1, which established her as one of the most exciting voices in the new guard of hiphop.

Bright Green Field is an album of towering scope and ambition, it is deeply considered, paced and intricately constructed. With all band members playing such a vital and equal role, this album is very much the product of five heads operating as one. Some bands might be tempted to include previous singles on their debut - and the band already released two more in 2020 via ‘Sludge’ and ‘Broadcaster’ - but instead Bright Green Field is completely new. This sense of limitlessness and perpetual forward motion is one of the the key ingredients that makes Squid so loved by fans and critics alike, from BBC Radio 6 Music who have A-Listed previous singles, ‘Houseplants’, ‘The Cleaner’ and ‘Match Bet’ to publications such as, The Guardian, NME, The Face, The Quietus and countless others. The band was also on the longlist for the BBC Music Sound of 2020 poll.

It was an elegant follow up to Deep with crisp production by Mike Thorne. As written in the original press release for the album, “You can’t pin down Holy Smoke, it curls and eddies in white and blue swirls, drawing a series of patterns on the brain, but just when an image begins to come into focus, the music mutates into something hypnotically new”.

The band pioneered a style of music that inverted punk’s blunt and explosive energies — favoring tense rhythms, percussive guitars, and lyrics that traded in Marxist theory and situationism. Even now, 45 years after the birth of the band, Gang of Four’s music has endured as a formative influence, not only to subsequent generations of musicians, but also activists, writers, and visual artists. “As a kid, I stumbled upon a copy of Gang of Four’s Entertainment! accidentally and it went on to become one of the most influential records of my life as a producer, lyricist and fan of music in general. Their sparse, unorthodox, riff heavy guitars and nasty, funky, in-the-pocket rhythm section drew me in, but it was their questioning of the world that kept me listening as I grew. I consider them a seminal band, whose influence and effect permeates the music world in a deeper way than many realize. Thank you, Gang of Four, for existing.” - EL-P (Run The Jewels)

“[M]assive hooks and sweeping cavernous melodies that will stick in your head for days and days.” -Post Trash, on Printer’s Devil Happy Birthday, Ratboy combines the old and new — containing 10 brand new recordings of their earliest material + a newly-written bonus track, this record celebrates a decade of Ratboys: a 10-year songwriting partnership, an evolving live show, a D.I.Y. project, a web of friendships, and everything in between. Almost as soon as Julia Steiner and Dave Sagan met during their college orientation, they started playing music together. What came out of their dorm rooms was the 5-song RATBOY EP, uploaded to Bandcamp on April 1, 2011 to share with friends and family. Now, to mark a decade since (to the day), Ratboys have hit the studio to re-inhabit these songs and bring them back to life. New recordings of the 5 original RATBOY EP songs make up the A-side of Happy Birthday, Ratboy, with 5 new versions of rare college-era tracks and the newly-written standout, “Go Outside” on the B-side. Featuring mainstays from their live show over the years, including “The Stanza” & “Space Blows,” pressed to vinyl for the first time and given the full band treatment, Happy Birthday, Ratboy introduces new Ratboys fans to the band’s beginnings while also raising a toast to those who’ve been there from the start.

TEKE::TEKE is a unique beast. A seven-piece experimental-rock band that fuses traditional Japanese instruments and influences with loud fuzzy guitars, trombone, flute, keys and a powerhouse rhythm section to create a modern take on a sound reminiscent of 1960’s-70’s-era psychedelic Japanese soundtracks. The delirious yet sharp song arrangements are a perfect playground for vocalist Maya Kuroki’s wide range of singing and theatrical delivery, where her voice sometimes screams frantically and sometimes soothes. Live, the band’s frenetic energy is palpable, a vibrant punk circus that hits you like a storm. Their debut album ‘SHIRUSHI’ (or ‘signs of great changes to come’) takes you through a vast array of imagery and sonic landscapes. The subtlety of Japanese poetry, written with a contemporary outlook, makes for colorful and powerful lyrics tackling themes of identity, spirituality, annihilation and rebirth, the musical arrangements taking you on a wild, cinematic journey. Recorded and mixed by Seth Manchester (Battles, Daughters, Lingua Ignota) at Machines with Magnets in Rhode Island and mastered by Heba Kadry (Bjork, Julianna Barwick, Cut Copy), the resulting album is as storied and unique as the band itself. “‘Meikyu’” is a volcanic song that grows more power the farther along it gets. Over thundering drums and singer Maya Kuroki’s soaring vocals, the song transforms from a slinky melodrama into an all-out instrumental affair that shows off the band’s collective strengths.” – Consequences of Sound “TEKE::TEKE deserves cult phenomenon status, an act destined to devour you.” – Circuits Sweet

INDIA JORDAN WATCH OUT! Release Date: May 07, 2021 London-based producer India Jordan releases new EP ‘Watch Out!’ on Ninja Tune, following last year’s hugely successful ‘For You’ EP. Heavily inspired by movement in both its literal and abstract forms, ‘Watch Out!’ sees India reflect on how movement has tied into their life over the years. India describes the EP as “a homage to both physical and conceptual movement”. It is a result of their own pattern of movement being forcibly changed by lockdown last year. India Jordan is tipped as one of the most exciting dance music producers of the moment. Despite most of their shows being cancelled during 2020 they had quite the year, showing no signs of slowing down. ‘For You’ was released in May 2020 and instantly received impressive pick up from the likes of Pitchfork (8.0), NME (5/5), Clash (8/10), The Guardian, Bandcamp, Mixmag, Resident Advisor, Dazed, radio support from KCRW and KEXP and more. The EP’s title track was voted as Resident Advisor’s #1 Best Track of 2020 and was included in Best of the Year Lists on Pitchfork, The Fader, NME and more. The track was Amazon Music’s #2 Electronic Track and was on Spotify’s Best Electronic Songs of 2020 list. India is also one of The Guardian’s 50 Amazing Musicians to Watch in 2021 and was tapped to remix Caribou, Austra and Prospa in 2020.

By defiantly playing against type and creating an album that, sonically and compositionally speaking, has more in common with Pierre Schaeffer or Edgard Varèse than John Fahey or even Jack Rose, Bachman has crafted one of the most introspective and deeply personal albums of instrumental music released in recent memory. Axacan weaves together acoustic guitar and harmonium alongside raw material from various locations, events, and natural phenomena to create a conceptual threedimensional collage. Using everything from field recordings of church bells, frogs, and birds to treated radio broadcasts, dead pine trees, and tuned fishing wire, Bachman has both honed and mastered the compositional technique hinted at on 2018’s The Morning Star. As on that album, the guitarist’s approach on Axacan is both documentary and authorial, utilizing electroacoustic techniques, organic drones, and environmental sounds to enrich his exhilarating music. These sounds are deployed reverently; there is very little superficial “sound for sound’s sake” here. Each creak, clatter, or bang colors Bachman’s aural Polaroids with deep and personal significance. The keening and spooky “Blues In The Anthropocene” is a prime example of Bachman’s compositional framework: sounding at first like a lost, ethereal Guitar Roberts side, the piece’s accompaniment by the sound events of rusted tools being throw into a dumpster, high pitched feedback from a radio broadcast, and a storm on Bachman’s familial homestead Ferry Farm—a reputedly haunted plantation and Civil War battlefield once occupied by George Washington—provide a kind of orchestral menace. The piece ends abruptly, as if the room from which these sounds were emanating was suddenly struck by lightning, leaving only the lonesome sound of rain. “Year of the Rat” begins with a plaintive, unhurried exploration of a guitar tuning, hearkening back to Bachman’s earlier LPs; soon, the playing begins increasing in tempo like a person hurtling deeper and deeper into anxiety recounting a traumatic event before settling down, as if tranquilized. The epic and ominous “Blue Ocean 0” mixes lapping waves, polysynth, fiddle, and tape machine, as well as the sound of wind blowing through fishing line and tuned to a harmonium drone, to convey the grim scientific epoch theorized in its title. “Big Summer,” too, masterfully integrates Bachman’s indisputable guitar prowess with a sense of calamitous menace: the sound of an unaccompanied acoustic slide guitar is heard emanating from what sounds like a waterlogged, malfunctioning cassette, the tremulous vibrato supplied by the limitations of the warbling tape. The effect is like hearing some lost country blues literally unearthed from the soil. On “WBRP 47.5,” we can make out, amidst radio dial surfing, a brief snippet of dialogue: “…it might be some time before things can…” The voice abruptly cuts off before we can hear more, though we hear this same sample repeated a few minutes later, suggesting that this is less a mere exercise in knob-turning than the evocation of a time loop. The chilly ambiguity of the message, and the accompanying rustling of a dead pine tree slowed to match the pitch of the drone and fiddle, only reinforces the dread. As the radio sounds fade, pained roars evoke immolation, turbulence, the death of a bellowing beast. Bachman follows this with album highlight “Coronach,” a probing 12-string rumination that stands as Bachman’s most accomplished and beautiful guitar piece in years. By carefully selecting and meticulously editing the album’s many extra-and-nonmusical sounds, Bachman imbues the music with both a sense of place and a sense of purpose, chronicling a search for meaning, hope, and truth in haystacks both figurative and literal. It is no mean feat to produce a largely instrumental album that somehow deals directly with the crises of our time—climate change, the COVID19 pandemic, the lingering effects of colonialism and genocide—and make it intimate and personal, but Axacan is such an album, a spiritual cousin of equally apocalyptic masterpieces like Penderecki’s “Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima,” William Basinski’s Disintegration Loops, and Lou Reed’s Berlin. Great works of art such as these can often leave you breathless, but they do something else, too: they can leave you changed.

Sophia Kennedy’s music sometimes sounds like a soundtrack to a world disintegrating, hanging on by a thread of memories, it combines the glamour and the morbid charm of tin pan alley show tunes from the 1960s or 70s and yet it fully embraces the deconstructed modernism of club music. Her new album Monsters, is full of plot twists, moments of prettiness dashed with paranoia. Monsters is pop music teetering on the verge of ruin. Growing up in Germany after her family emigrated from Baltimore, Sophia Kennedy developed an ear for off-centred songcraft picking through her mum’s record collection. Kennedy moved to Hamburg to study film and ended up making music for theatre productions. Her involvement in the local creative community led her through the doors of the “Golden Pudel”, a techno nightclub. Immersed in Hamburg’s dance music scene she met Mense Reents, a musician best known for his work with the celebrated house act, Die Vögel. The pair formed a writing and production partnership, and would make Sophia’s eponymously-titled debut record together in 2017 which was released through DJ Koze’s label Pampa. One step further is where Kennedy has taken her sound on Monsters. It’s full of hints of a former life, abstract melodic turns, instrumentation that shouldn't work, but does, wrongness that’s right. “Seventeen” is acid-washed Americana with creeping sub-bass, closer “Dragged Myself Into The Sun” is a full-on left hook, drones stacked like lasagna and pumped with steroids. There is pop centre pieces like “I Can See You” and the velvetlined anthem “I’m Looking Up”, dealing with grief and death, recalling the rawest edges of Krautrock and, for Kennedy, nods to Baltimore artists Panda Bear and the strange currencies of Animal Collective. “It’s West Coast realism you can play air guitar to.” - Shindig! 5/5 “The Los Angeles group GospelbeacH's sound harks back to several eras of California music, from folk-rock and sunshine pop to country-rock and the paisley underground” - All Music As GospelbeacH continues to work on the follow-up to their third and most successful studio album LET IT BURN (2019) they are back to raise the vibrations and celebrate the good times with a little detour through the past. With the founding of CURATION RECORDS Chief Curator and GospelbeacH leader Brent Rademaker found himself surrounded by a room of over 1,200 60s/70s Glam Rock/Bubble Gum/Sunshine and Power Pop 45s owned by his record label partners. Back in Mono Deluxe studios with his GospelbeacH brother Jonny Niemann at the production controls they enlisted the well-seasoned and in-demand rhythm section of Bob Glaub and Don Heffington that had worked with their dear departed guitarist Neal Casal on his solo albums as well as Los Angeles heroes Warren Zevon, Jackson Browne, Don Henley, Lone Justice and even Sprinsgteen and Dylan. Adding the Sunshine harmonies once again Nelson Bragg from the Brian Wilson/BeacH Boys Band. Lost pop classics “Do Unto Others” (Sandy Salisbury 1968) & Loving You Ain’t Easy (Michel Pagliaro 1971) maybe the most familiar songs but the most covered would be Gimmie Gimmie Good Lovin’ (Crazy Elephant 1969) with previous versions from Leif Garrett, Dusty Springfield and more. The more obscure tracks Jam Jam (The American Jam Band 1974) and Albatross Baby (Chunky 1973) are familiar to thos riding the “Junkshop Glam” bandwagon. About “L’étoile thoracique”

Carrying an entire universe of baroque, absurd songs, the damsel charms and unsettles us with her gorgeously crafted music driven by an instinctive desire to challenge her own purpose. “What I write is always full of contrasting elements, because I enjoy baffling myself. When everything fits together too neatly, it can quickly become tiresome.” This resulted in the 13 tracks of L’Étoile thoracique, a freewheeling fresco that has the artist weaving a sprawling concerto.

Highlights: - An ungraspable, ghostly, spooky album consisting of ten different journeys into the experimental sound world of Dictaphone's "minimalistic and subliminal elegancy" (ARTE) - "timeless, unusual & beautiful" (Colin Newman) The Belgian-German band Dictaphone around mastermind Oliver Doerell returns with their fifth album. After their last highly acclaimed album "APR70" Doerell is surrounded again by his longterm bandmembers Roger Döring (clarinet & saxophone) & Alex Stolze (violins). In the last 3 years they dived even deeper into their "morbid instruments" concept. An old tape machine, which Doerell found in a hidden room in his house served as soundsource, ghostly sounds could be heard and the machine died soon after being sampled. For the first time Döring played a bass clarinet on this album and after the recordings lost it in the subway… They improved their skills to use rustle as a instrument and are supported by the voice of Helga Raimondi in the track "your reign is over". The result is an ungraspable, ghostly, spooky album consisting of ten different journeys into the experimental sound world of these unique compositions.

Highlights: - “haunting and comforting in equal measure. 4/5" – MOJO - “An adventurous blend of hues grey and dark...Staggeringly rich.” - FACT - “a beautiful collection that stands tall alongside the work of his contemporaries” – XLR8R Based in Bristol, LTO first made waves as part of mysterious electronic collective Old Apparatus. As a solo producer, LTO has since attracted attention with three albums. LTO's ambition to create ever more ambiguous and far-reaching sonic environments, whilst retaining something of the familiar and physical, have led him to take inspiration from imagined landscapes of the folklore of his Welsh ancestry and of the planet Mars. Both images of enchanted forests battling enraged giants from the underworld and unimaginably hostile planetary events guide this work of great magnitude. In 'Daear', LTO explores an expansive sound pallet of swelling synths and noise, ambiguous string instruments, thunderous percussion, unearthly voices and his signature sound the piano, mostly processed beyond recognition. The result is a mysterious and deeply textured journey that could be set in both the distant past and uncertain future, on this planet or beyond.

Dalhous end the 5-year silence with the long awaited follow up to House Number 44, presenting the 2. volume of The Composite Moods Collection. Point Blank Range reinterprets the established narrative with an inverse look at the proceedings. Taking the “point of view of the disease", the perspective is now turned inside out, revealing an alternate account from the eyes of the photographed subject of House Number 44. Listeners will be able to decipher nods to long standing soundtrack influences from composers such as Fabio Frizzi, with his use of strikingly bold and haunting melodies, to Tangerine Dream’s distinctively foggy atmospheres. There are moments that evoke the nihilistic drones of Brian Gascoigne, and the more horrific passages of metal clanging ambience from the likes of Chu Ishikawa with his scores. From opening track 'Transceivers' through to the imploding nature of 'Intramuscular Administration’ Dalhous deliver another psychedelic quasi-visual experience.

Gnod - Easy To Build, Hard To Destroy

“We just wanted to jam really and see what happened” reasons Paddy Shine of GNOD fourteen

years on from their inception. “That led us down the road of constructing a vibe or an atmosphere for playing live. We played a lot of squats, house gigs and parties in the early days. We lived in each others pockets - shared ideas, books, films Some heads came along for the ride. Good times.” This momentum gathered quickly into a band with formidable psychic power, captured in style on Easy To Build, Hard To Destroy - a compilation of tricky-to-find, obscure and unreleased material from the heady early days of the band, all released on vinyl for the first time. It’s the sound of an uncompromising devotion to rapture through noise and repetition. Captured in the hypnotic rhythmic drive and intimidating atmospheres of tracks like ‘They Live’ and ‘Inner Z’ is a mantric energy which take a jumping-off point from the Krautrock, Japanese rock and underground American psychedelia the band were hammering at the time, as well as the droogy nihilism of The Stooges debut. Yet these feral experiments reach far beyond into a headspace that acknowledges no boundaries, rock orthodoxy or genre constriction. A full decade, countless enlightened minds and scores of ruptured speaker cones later, the GNOD journey continues unabated - onward to fresh creation and new annihilation.

For songwriting duo Joey Cobb and Katie Drew of White Flowers, one of the most exciting young bands in the UK right now, it was only on leaving London to return to their native Preston that the dark-hued dreampop of their debut album, Day By Day, began to crystalize. The pair found that by using equipment they barely understood, they produced their most innovative work. Beginning on GarageBand, they crafted loops that turned into songs, and by the time they’d worked out how to use it, they’d graduated to a drum machine. Now very much in control, and with a clear and determined focus, the pair began producing music that, whilst leaning into the North’s post-punk past, possessed a vision and depth informed by their own post-industrial Preston experiences. Creating all of their artwork, visuals and overall aesthetic, they began building a world that stretched beyond the music alone – in an unusual circular fashion, this auteurist-like approach became a way of translating their environment and experiences into a form of escapism from the very place that inspired them. “We’ve always taken care to control every aspect of the White Flowers ‘world’, and because we’ve developed this over time, it feels to us like there’s a separate realm for White Flowers music to exist in,” observes Joey. “More than anything, the isolation that a place like Preston provides means that what we do is very much its own, separate thing”. That ‘thing’ is the sound of the North at night; the unglamorous North, caught in the hinterlands that divide the main cities, a monochrome psychedelia formed in Preston and the imposing Lancashire hills that envelop them. As if always waiting there for them, in returning to their roots, White Flowers found themselves. Nonetheless, it was shortly before leaving London that another creative breakthrough occurred. While performing a small show as a support act, a fan in the audience, impressed by the wall of noise that would frequently extend for minutes at the end of tracks, suggested they work with a like-minded friend. Within weeks, the pair were recording at the Manchester studio of Jez Williams, erstwhile member of Doves. Williams and Manchester immediately made sense, and it’s that industrial gothic that White Flowers were able to tap into as they built the album during on-off sessions across two years – sometimes leaving the studio for a couple of months to work on ideas, other times crafting the minutiae of details across all-night studio sessions.

Maya Dunietz’s “Free The Dolphin” LP UPC: 634457042773

Maya Dunietz is a prodigy pianist, an avant-garde sound artist, an award winning composer and mom to four. A dubious character, a local legend and an inspiration for a generation of musicians. Maya’s career is abundant from playing with ‘Habiluim', 'Midnight Peacocks’, 'Boom Pam’ and countless projects worldwide to presenting her sound installations at Pompidou; France, through her work with Emahoy Tsegue Mariam Guebrou. We can definitely say she’s been busy. We are proud to release this work by Maya Dunietz - Free The Dolphin. An EP dedicated to the piano, with Barak Mori on bass & Amir Bresler on drums and featuring Avishai Cohen on trumpet & David Lemoine on vocals. This is a unique kind of jazz. Glimpses of folk lullabies, African scales and rhythms, moments that border with free jazz, and homage to the old school traditions of stride, blues and to the great Thelonious Monk. Maya blends her infinite influences into a mind expanding groovy, never-dull journey. This EP is Maya’s first solo release; with her as the leading voice and visionary. “The ideas presented in this album are flying in my head for decades, but they needed Rejoicer’s relentless creative and productive energy to catch them in a recording. Barak and Amir are - with no exaggeration - the piano trio rhythm section of my dreams. I'm in love with their sound.”

Jacober

Light Years David Jacober is a seasoned, and wellrecognized, native Baltimore-based percussionist, song writer, composer, recording artist, session musician, and drum teacher. He is best known for his role as drummer and as 1 of 3 founding members of the band, Dope Body (Drag City). Aside from Dope Body, David has made a name for himself in Baltimore and beyond recording and touring extensively with Dan Deacon (Domino) and recording marimba with Future Islands (4AD). David is currently drumming with Dope Body, Loris, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat (Carpark Records), and Scroll Downers. Light Years is the newest release from Jacober, the solo project of David Jacober featuring Tariq Ravelomanana (Infinity Knives / Loris) and Allison Clendaniel (of the ‘Mind On Fire’ collective). This record explores the ideas

of growing pains and reluctant optimism through lush, multi-layered marimba and drum-driven compositions. Created after a

time of intense personal change this album is a look backwards from the initial stable moment after adversity. As defined by the International Astronomical Unit, a light-year is the distance that light travels in a vacuum in one Julian year. Aptly named, this record is a reflection on the distance the artist has traveled through to get back to the light and be here now. Light Years was mixed and mastered in Baltimore by Rob Girardi (Arbouretum, Beach House, Celebration, Double Dagger, Future Islands, Ecstatic Sunshine, and more!).

For the last half-decade, married couple Wy have been one of Scandinavia’s most interesting alternative acts. ‘Marriage’, the duo’s third LP, is the sound of Wy moving forward and backwards at once. It’s the work of a band that have grown into themselves and what they do, and making the strongest songs of their career. Wy are a band strongest at their most vulnerable. What makes them stand out as a band is the raw, brutal emotion they capture in their music. A Wy song at their best sounds like opening it all up, and letting the feelings flow where they will, letting the pain, anger, fear, hope and love steer the song. Those emotions are spun into the bandʼs skyscaping, cinematic sound, and turned into music that has a force behind it, a power that hits you, even when itʼs at its softest. With a touring history in in Germany, Scandinavia and UK, hundreds of records sold to 25+ countries all over the world and praise from KEXP, Nylon, Sodwee, Consequence of Sound, CLASH, Line of Best Fit, Tonspion and more, thereʼs reason to be excited about this new record and itʼs development of the duoʼs sound that have been compared to Cigarettes After Sex and Mazzy Star. ʻMarriageʼ is the duoʼs third full-length and the first to be released with their new label Rama Lama Records (Melby, Steve Buscemiʼs Dreamy Eyes, Chez Ali etc.), the record will be out both on black vinyl and a red/yellow half/half vinyl limited to 200 copies. Tracklist: 1. Come Here, 2. Shiba Inu, 3. Braid, 4. Window, 5. That Picture Of Me, 6. Miserable Artist, 7. A Walk Outside, 8. Dream House, 9. Marriage, 10. God’s Lamb
