BONOBO & TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS HEARTBREAK

Release Date: November 13, 2020 New, hugely exciting collaboration between two artists known across the globe - Bonobo and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs combine for the debut release on Bonobo’s brand new label, Outlier. “Heartbreak” sees Bonobo team up with producer Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs to deliver a dancefloor-driven 12” that builds on some of the foundations of electronic music, tracing a line from 1980’s NYC through to the warehouse raves of today. The breakbeat-driven ode to one of electronic music’s formative scenes: NYC’s disco revolution of the 70’s & 80’s. Sampling Chris Wiltshire’s iconic vocal line “I can’t take the heartbreak” from the ‘83 disco anthem “Weekend” by Class Action. The release comes with a second collaborative B-side track, “6,000 ft” and is the first to arrive on Bonobo’s new label, OUTLIER — launched in partnership with Ninja Tune — and expands on the series of club shows and festival stage takeovers under that same banner. Bonobo (Simon Green) is a multi-GRAMMY nominated British artist based in LA. Over the course of six albums, many sold-out tours across all continents, numerous singles, remixes and production work for other artists has built a broad global fan base with over 800K album sales, 1.3B+ streams and 3.3M followers online. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs has carved an impressive niche all his own in the electronic space, as a sought-after vocalist, pianist, producer and DJ. A bold and genre-less approach to electronic music-making has seen him land release across premier underground labels for over a decade. This summer he joined UK's leading tastemaker radio station, Rinse FM with a four month residency that showcases his deep crates and position as a respected DJ.

Bonobo's rise has been stealthy but unstoppable, and Si Green, the man behind it all, is now one of the biggest electronic artists of our time. With a back catalog spanning six albums, this repress sees the vinyl return of his classic album ‘Dial ‘M’ for Monkey’ first released on Ninja Tune in 2003. Already featuring an array of fan favourites this release also sees the addition of two extra tracks 'Pick Up (Four Tet remix)' and 'Behind The Light’.

For Vapor City, the man of many faces went back to the drawing board armed with inspirations sprouting deep from within his soul. Inspired by recurring dreams Machinedrum has had for years, a metropolis he imagined called Vapor City became so vivid that Stewart was able to describe the place in detail district by district. He has crafted a fully-formed soundscape which doubles as a map into this imaginary universe, each song representing a different district.

NOVEMBER 13TH, 2020

• Limited edition 12” Picture Disc • Produced by Alex G (Alex Giannascoli) and Sam Acchione • Includes cover of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone's "Natural Light" What hides in the fog that keeps people apart, and what does it take to cut through it? These questions hang heavily over Sarah Beth Tomberlin's music, whose hushed and intimate tones orbit answers as much as they savor the unanswerable. To be in relation to another human being is to engage with a deep mystery: We are all fundamentally alone, siloed into confusing bodies, and yet occasionally we find someone who lets us feel as if we weren't. Tomberlin, the Louisville native who recently relocated to Los Angeles, delights in articulating and amplifying that mystery, picking out its details and marveling at its scale. In singing her aloneness she soothes it, and extends a hand to others reckoning with their own solitude--a paradox that warms her spectral songs. Tomberlin's new Projections EP continues the arc of her critically acclaimed 2018 debut At Weddings, weaving new collaborators and new techniques into her signature dusky milieu. Since the LP's release, Tomberlin has toured with Pedro the Lion, Andy Shauf, American Football, and Alex G, played a Tiny Desk concert for NPR, and given a riveting performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The five-song EP, capped with a cover of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone's stunning "Natural Light," reflects this period of intensive growth and self-discovery. "I wrote these songs while getting to know myself outside of people's perceived notions of who I was," says Tomberlin. "I just started being like, What am I interested in? What do I want out of relationships and friendships? What am I looking for that I don't have in myself already?" The rich vocal harmonies and guitar lines that made At Weddings so riveting still provide the EP's foundation, but new percussive backing and instrumental flourishes open the path forward for Tomberlin. After touring the US with Alex G and playing new songs for the band in their shared green room, Tomberlin reached out to Alex Giannascoli and bandmate Sam Acchione to produce the EP's four original tracks. She recorded her new songs in Giannascoli's Philadelphia apartment alongside Acchione and frequent collaborator Molly Germer. The fleshed out sound lends a sense of urgency to tracks like "Wasted," an uptempo romp across the kind of thorny relationship that withholds as much as it gives, and "Sin," a song that applies reclaimed Christian imagery to an unorthodox romantic partnership. "I don't mind sinning if it's with you," Tomberlin sings against washes of violin and brushed cymbals. "Say a prayer/Lay your hands on me/I just wanna be clean." "I wrote 'Sin' while living at my parents' home and exploring my queerness, but afraid to make it too obvious," Tomberlin says. "It's definitely using imagery that gets used against queer people, but making a joke out of it. That's a thing with queer people. We all use humor to deflect our pain." Tomberlin's ability to pan across the general disaster of human relationality and then zoom in on an effervescent moment of pure intimacy is one of her greatest strengths as a songwriter. Queer people get shuttered under the label of sin by the wider world, and yet despite that brand they steal moments of love and healing for themselves. Love is, generally speaking, a wellspring of pain and dysfunction, but look at the moments where it works. "It's all sacrifice and violence, the history of love," Tomberlin sings on EP opener "Hours," "But remember when we stayed up/And took turns playing songs?" The camera zooms in, and magic alights on the people who suddenly take up the whole frame. You can refuse the mystery of how people manage to be among each other, or you can delight in what it offers, no matter how fleeting. Tomberlin opts for delight every time. Hers are songs for people who, despite the turmoil of the world at large, despite the weight of its sadness, unshield themselves and fall into wonder.

DESCRIPTION Eight years after their self titled debut on Stones Throw, Quakers are back with II: The Next Wave. Quakers is an ever-evolving collective of music with core members Geoff Barrow of Portishead and Australian producer Ashely Anderson. True to the group’s collaborative spirit, the producers invited over twenty rappers from the Stones Throw stable and beyond to contribute to II: The Next Wave. Much like Quakers’ self-titled debut, II: The Next Wave is loud, unapologetic and blunted. It’s also more explicitly political, with songs that speak directly to systemic corruption, racism, and the climate crisis.

DUNGEN II Side A 1 Stadsvandringar 2 Har du vart‘ i Stockholm? 3 Solen stiger upp del 1 & del 2 4 Stock och sten 5 Sol och regn 6 Fest

Dungen II With their second album Dungen moved from a sound deeply rooted in Swedish folk music towards more psychedelia and 70’s pop. This missing link between the sparse debut and the world wide break through Ta Det Lugnt moves through 60’s and 70’s prog, psych, pop and folk with soaring flutes, woodsy violins, wicked fuzz guitars and frenetic jazz-drums. The record was originally released in 2002 under the name Stadsvandringar and a slightly different version got a very limited vinyl release as Dungen 2. II collects all tracks from Stadsvandringar and Dungen 2 as well as a single-track never available on vinyl all remastered by the original producer Mattias Glavå.

Dungen’s music has expanded sonic boundaries all through the 2000s and II lets you explore both the butterfly light side as well as the heavier introspective aspects of a groundbreaking, yet retrospective band.

DER GROSSE ROCK MACHINE The Stockholm-based psych/60s/garage/indie-act Caesars had a wild ride around the turn of the century. Their three first albums, released in Sweden under the moniker Caesars Palace, were riddled with hits like Jerk It Out, Punkrocker, From The Bughouse, Sort It Out and more, but they only had limited release outside Sweden. The ultra limited vinyl versions of the albums have been highly sought after collector items for 20 years now and even if you’re lucky enough to own originals, these new editions have superior quality pressings, bonus tracks and better sleeves. Limited editions will include fanzines made by bass player David full of pix and trix.

¡Rock De Puta Mierda! Classic 1996 ep for the first time on vinyl with lots of extras including their 1995 debut 7” and other rarities. Caesar’s Palace (aka Caesars) in their infancy was a screaming mess of garage, psych, beat, lo-fi and cycledelica with great pop sensibilty. Youth Is Wasted On The Young Their glorious 1997 debut album on vinyl for the first time in over 20 years. Filled with hits like Sort It Out, (I’m Gonna) Kick You Out and You’re My Favourite. Cherry Kicks The second album from 2000 vinyl for the first time in 20 years and this time it’s got extra tracks. Hits galore! Punkrocker, Crackin’ Up, From The Bughouse and even a Lee Perry-cover. Love For The Streets Their third album from 2002 vinyl for the first time since it came out and this time it’s got extra tracks. Jerk It Out, Over ’Fore It Started, Candy Cane and more!

PRINCE OF ASSYRIA 3rd Level Photo: Jonas Jörneberg Smycken: Susan Szatmáry Styling: Giovanni Bucchieri

Prince of Assyria: 3rd Level Born in Iraq but raised in Sweden, Prince of Assyria stands with one foot in Baghdad and one foot in Scandinavian melancholy. As a Mesopotamian royalty sentenced to diaspora in an Astrid Lindgren saga, he builds longing bridges between East and West that have touched a dedicated fanbase far beyond Sweden’s borders. Teasing, spooky, grinding, fateful and swarmy, sometimes stripped like Nick Drake or Leonard Cohen, sometimes dramatic and theatrical as Tindersticks or Lambchop, sometimes with obvious but usually only hinted references to his Assyrian origins. And then that golden voice of his. Prince of Assyria enchants his audience whether he performs at Café De La Danse in Paris, Lido in Berlin or Bar Loose in Helsinki.

Side A 1 It’s Everywhere I Go 2 Blink of an eye 3 3rd level 4 Emotionally Free SIDE B 1 ENA KMA 2 Rifle 3 Try Love 4 We got

His debut record Missing Note from 2009 made him a favourite among the critics with his acoustic songs full of bittersweet sadness about lost love, desperation and threatening madness. On the sequel Changing Places in 2014 Prince of Assyria’s multifaceted explorations continued, now with a broader emotional register and warmer production. After six years of silence he is finally back with his album 3rd Level released in September on Busy Bee Production on vinyl, CD and streaming services. Here Prince of Assyria dives deep right into the magic world of the 60’s and takes his songwriting and production to a whole new level. Playing almost all the instruments by himself the songs have been recorded and re-recorded over and over to catch the turmoil of the past years. Death, illness, breakups, homelessness – the songs on 3rd Level have gone through almost as much as Prince of Assyria himself. There were times when he never thought he would be capable of putting it all together but here we are at last with an outstanding record of intricate patterns soon to be uncovered to the world. Prince of Assyria’s music cannot be captured – after three superb albums it’s fair to say that he sounds like no other, just like himself. All other comparisons are superfluous.

When singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Randall Bramblett began compiling the songs that would eventually make up his 12th and newest studio album, Pine Needle Fire, it wasn’t with any particular musical or lyrical direction in mind. But viewed through the lens of the dozen tracks on the now completed set, it’s apparent there was a theme there all along. A lot of time has passed.

Guitarist Kid Ramos and harmonica player/producer Bob Corritore collaborated on four powerful studio recording sessions in Phoenix from the late 1990’s to early 2000’s. These sessions were built around some great vocalists: Henry Gray, Nappy Brown, Big Pete Pearson, Chico Chism, Doctor Fish and Chief Schabuttie Gilliame. The Kid / Corritore combination STREET DATE: 11/13/20 would seamlessly interweave their characteristic musical backing around each singer’s style and each song’s assignment. The original issue was a benefit CD rushed to provide relief for Kid during his cancer treatment of 2012. This time around Bob researched the vaults to find four spectacular unreleased tracks. 01. SUN RA EGYPT 1971 Heliopolis and Cairo, December 1971

Dark Myth Equation Visitation Nidhamu / Horizon

Strut present the 4CD edition of Sun Ra’s ‘Egypt 1971’ along with the original albums ‘Dark Myth Equation Visitation’, ‘Nidhamu’ and ‘Horizon’ released as individual LPs, documenting Sun Ra’s first trip to Egypt with his Arkestra in December 1971. In the years leading up to 1971, Sun Ra wrote many compositions and poems specifically inspired by the ancient African Kingdoms and many others with associated mythological and heliocentric connotations. As such, a visit to Egypt and the opportunity for the Arkestra to play there was a matter of necessity. Ra’s first ever concerts outside of the US had occurred in late summer and autumn of 1970 with performances in France, Germany and the UK and a second European tour was arranged for late 1971. At the end of that second tour, Ra caught wind of cheap flights from Denmark to Cairo. This release comprises recordings made by Arkestra member Thomas “Bugs” Hunter made in December 1971 in the streets around the Mena House Hotel, Giza, from a concert held at the house of Goethe Institute ex-pat Hartmut Geerken in Heliopolis, from a live Cairo TV channel broadcast and a concert at the Ballon Theatre in Cairo. The impact and significance of these few weeks upon Sun Ra can be measured by the growth and development of his output over the next few years; the immediate post-Egypt period included new studio and live recordings on the Saturn, Blue Thumb, Atlantic and Impulse labels and the ‘Space Is The Place’ movie. Ra also edited the three LPs of the ‘Live In Egypt’ series which were subsequently released on his Saturn record label and its affiliated twin, Thoth Intergalactic: ‘Dark Myth Equation Visitation’, ‘Nidhamu’ and ‘Horizon’. These three albums are now reissued as single LP editions in their original artwork. The 4CD set features these albums alongside previously unreleased material from the December 1971 recordings. All tracks are remastered from the original tapes and the CD set also features a 24-page booklet featuring new sleeve notes and rare photos by Hartmut Geerken and background information on the recordings by Paul Griffiths.

Bibio’s Hand Cranked, his second release, saw him delve deeper into the sounds he crafted on his debut, Fi, with a focus on saturated guitars, found sound and field recordings and an affinity for the pastoral inspiration of his Northern England surroundings. Hand Cranked stepped it up by bringing Bibio’s unique take on folk electronic instrumentation; a sound that he would continue to help refine throughout his career. Ambivalence Avenue is perhaps Bibio’s most familiar album to date, seeing him further refine his experimentation and craft on songs such as lovers’ carvings, haikuesque, jealous of roses and more.

This EP sees Pritchard dip into a slew of alias’ that have kept him busy over the years. This new club 12” nods to his mesmerising formulas for making dance music, carrying the listener through grime, electronic and Afrika HiTech territory. “Be Like Water” is a devilish 8 bar grime instrumental. Harking back to an early ‘00s grime sound, Pritchard manipulates loops of distorted flutes, hollow chords and pentatonic scales to find an energy which is exciting, addictive and perfect for the club.

Nick Waterhouse

Live At Pappy & Harriet's: In Person From The High Desert

The breadth and pace of his output is also evidence of the fact that however stylishly he may do it, Nick Waterhouse works. Hard. “Nick Waterhouse Live at Pappy & Harriet’s” came immediately after a long and intense string of European tour dates, which came immediately after a certain reckoning that most musicians encounter at some point, or several points, in their careers: a point where Nick Waterhouse, whose artistry and musicality evokes a blistering energy and drive, was questioning the whole thing—the shows, the exhaustion, the money, the will. It turned out that the excitement and momentum that fueled the 2019 European tour answered those questions in the resounding positive. And “Live at Pappy & Harriet’s” reflects the work of an artist who has seen some things. He’s studied, he’s composed, he’s receptive, he’s loose, and he’s gotten to know his own artistic practice in a way that shows up, fiery and raw, on this live, hometown record. Because ultimately, Nick Waterhouse is not simply in dialogue with others. He hasn’t responded to a revived appetite for neo R&B or Ronson-type pop production by altering his vision. He has remained, resoundingly, Nick Waterhouse. Whatever growth, transformations, or nuances a listener can hear are entirely his own story. Waterhouse has built his own sonic world, one whose orbit is totally unique. That sonic world is rich and complex; its language is intelligent, clever, and vulnerable; it’s at once ambitious and intimate, groovy and deeply serious. In fact, the Waterhouse sonic world might look a lot like a glimmering desert sky at dusk, or the damp, overheated air that awaits through the doors of Pappy & Harriet’s. And now we’re invited in.

A decade ago, journalists, fans, critics, and audiophiles alike were wont to compare Nick Waterhouse to his predecessors. And it was a convenient way to categorize an artist that has since proved uncategorizable—he had a voice that balanced somewhere between Van Morrison and Ray Charles, an aesthetic that caught the attention of style reporters at GQ, an ambitious production vision that stood out among the lo-fi rock and alternative bands of the zeitgeist. And he was disarmingly earnest in his own influences—citing artists like Mose Allison and Them as early inspiration. But now, coming off of his searching, intimate, self-titled album of 2019 and bringing us “Nick Waterhouse Live at Pappy & Harriet’s; In Person from the High Desert” in 2020, it’s clear that comparisons, of any kind, no longer suffice. After self-releasing his debut single “Some Place” in 2010, Nick Waterhouse and his backing band, The Tarots, along with three back-up singers, The Naturelles, quickly caught the attention of then-nascent, Los Angeles record label Innovative Leisure. Released by Innovative Leisure in 2012, Waterhouse’s debut album, “Time’s All Gone,” was an incredibly ambitious record. Full band, three back-up vocalists, careful and intricate arrangements, a studied balance of light and dark, thoughtful decisions on everything from studio to album art: Waterhouse had vision. While Waterhouse continued to release records at a steady clip—“Holly” in 2014, “Never Twice” in 2016, the self-titled “Nick Waterhouse” in 2019, and now “Live at Pappy & Harriet’s”—he extended his vision beyond his own act, collaborating with friends like garage-rock mystic Ty Segall and retro-futurist R&B bandleader Leon Bridges. He meticulously produced the successful debut and sophomore albums of long-time friends the Allah-Lahs, whom he met after moving from southern California to San Francisco, fortifying his musical education by selling vinyl in the Lower Haight. There is a “Waterhouse Sound” and it’s resonant in both his own records and his collaborations, rooted both in the man and the method — recording everything on magnetic tape, through analog equipment, and playing live, eyeball to eyeball, whenever possible. Though Waterhouse’s artistic practice has remained thoughtful and deliberate, it’s also proved adaptable. As his career grew to encompass a consistent schedule of national and international touring, producing, co-writing, and working with legendary elders like Ira Raibon, Maxine Brown, and Ralph Carney, the story of Waterhouse’s musical arc can be tracked through the sounds and arrangements on each record. From the magical, youthful ambition of “Time’s All Gone” to the more reflective and existentially fraught “Nick Waterhouse”—it all tells a story.

"His style is all his own" - NPR "Brisk, self-contained, a little mysterious, and catchy enough to revisit again and again" - Paste Magazine "Waterhouse remains as spirited as he is studious, crooning and belting at all the appropriate moments with a little bit of swagger." - All Music "The second coming of soul, infusing a distinctly California surf-rock spin to the genre" - Vogue

London band Stats have announced their new album Powys 1999, due for release on November 13th via Memphis Industries. While the band’s critically acclaimed debut album Other People’s Lives - loved by everyone from Elton John to Phoebe WallerBridge - was recorded in a two-day burst, capitalising on a gap in front man Ed Seed’s busy schedule touring with Dua Lipa, Powys 1999 is different. The band decamped to a residential studio in Wales near where Seed grew up in Powys to record the record, an area is known for “farming, forestry, tourism, and a low-key but significant military presence,” but it was also Seed’s parents' generation of incomers and their motivations that fascinated him. There’s a dense narrative to the album that explores personal upbringing - and the potential untrustworthy memories that come with such reflection - along with the industrial, financial and political landscape of the countryside. This is not an indulgent and saccharine plunge into childhood. “It's not nostalgic,” Seed says. “It’s about the past but also the future. Living another way doesn’t seem so possible now for technological and financial reasons - and I was seeking inspiration from the people I knew who tried to do that.” Plus, the narrative backdrop is just that: a backdrop. “It's got to be fun,” says Seed. “It's got to bang. As much of that stuff that needs to come across will come across. If I was literally writing songs that were: ‘here's a song about reservoir’ then it's going to be super dull. If you have something that's so exciting to listen to then you can kind of say what you want and people might take it in or might take something else.” And bang the album does - from the Sparks-esque On The Tip Of My Tongue to the pulsing dance floor rager of Kiss Me Like It’s Over via the electro-pop-funk swagger of Naturalise Me and the stirring piano stabs and vocal harmonies of Travel With Me Through This Ghost World (featuring Emmy The Great). The record flows like the rolling hills that surrounded its creation. The band being locked away living and eating and playing together also drew out the deep musical bond they share. Recent Praise For Stats: Ready made for Stardom Sunday Times Culture Stats’ time is now and they have truly arrived The Line Of Best Fit A crisp collection of retro-pop brilliance NME

DOMENIQUE DUMONT PEOPLE ON SUNDAY street date: file under: territory:

Friday November 13 2020 Electronic/soundtrack World ex. Europe

Limited edition CD BAY 127CD UPC 843190012725 Black vinyl LP+DL BAY 127V UPC 843190012718 Limited edition white vinyl LP+DL BAY 127VX UPC 843190012732 People On Sunday is an original soundtrack to the 1930 silent film variously known as Menschen am Sonntag, Les Hommes le Dimanche and People On Sunday. The film is a key work of interwar German cinema, based on a screenplay by Billy Wilder.

• People On Sunday is the third album by Domenique Dumont

Like Domenique Dumont’s earlier albums, Comme Ça and Miniatures De Auto Rhythm, People On Sunday evokes a more innocent, carefree time conjured by wistful electronics full of warmth and melody. Touching on the hazy exotica that made those two records so alluring, here Dumont draws on his love of classical music, library music and early electronic experimentation to create a timeless, optimistic sound. If his past productions possessed a certain Mediterranean quality, across these 13 new pieces Dumont’s shimmering synth-pop has an enchanting simplicity.

• It follows on from the cult success of synth-pop exotica albums Comme Ça (2015) and Miniatures de Auto Rhythm (2018)

Part documentary, part fiction, the film People On Sunday follows a group of characters going about their business in Weimar-era Berlin over one weekend and shows normal life in Germany before dictatorship. “The film shows people and their surroundings shortly before all of it was destroyed,” says Dumont. “Ironically, watching this movie with the eyes of today, it looks more surreal than documentary. And I can’t help but think and reflect about the times we are living in now. We might have similar desires people had a hundred years ago, but we now have a completely different approach to life.”

Highlights: - collaboration with the world's major trumpeters, prolific Sardinian jazz artist Paolo Fresu - featuring artwork by renowned Italian/Jordanian artist and photographer Mustafa Sabbagh "In Origine: The Field of Repentance" is a concept album dealing with the origin of man and its impact on the cycle of creation and destruction which drives the evolution of the universe. This time Caria invited one of the world's major trumpeters, prolific Sardinian jazz artist Paolo Fresu to collaborate on the album. Fresu's unique trumpet sound is recognized as one of the most distinctive in the contemporary jazz scene and on this album Caria and Fresu succeed in perfectly merging their contributions into a coherent entity. Fresu is not accompanying Caria and Caria is not accompanying Fresu. Instead they both drive each others plays, building and rebuilding, forming and reforming meticulous pieces of analogue-electronic music that invoke the feeling of a pure timelessness.

Highlights: · after four years with singles and EPs, finally another full length by Subheim · features a collaboration with Hecq · the album showcases Subheim working at a new level

Subheim uses ΠΟΛΙΣ as a vehicle to depart from traditional songwriting structures, crafting each track as a piece of a larger sonic collage. Songs come out of nowhere, abruptly come to end before they even get a chance to start or introduce new motifs and surprise reprises long after we expect the next track to cue up. These stutter-start forms reflect the four years it took for the record to take shape. Though this is clearly Subheim working at a new level, listeners will recognize the sound instantly as his, with both hints of the IDM/electronica of Approach era and the unmistaken human element that is present in all his work. The natural, off-grid time feel of the record is effortlessly augmented with field recordings and found sounds, this time around with the addition of more grit and power, and with heavier use of analog synthesizers.

(SPEX) "... Like Ben Frost, (Prairie) exudes a certain harshness while tempering his work with moments of sublime beauty. This isn’t club material; it’s music for the hammer in one’s hand, the confrontation of the demon, the soul-shattering revelation." (A Closer Listen) Prairie is the project of multi-instrumentalist Marc Jacobs, hailing from Brussels with roots in The Netherlands. “And the Bird Said: Cut Me Open and Sing Me” is the second full length album on Denovali Records. By using various recording techniques, analog gear, guitar pedals, synths, amps and human voices, the album creates a fountain of sound layers which coalesce to synthetic and noise infused manipulations, dramatic crescendos and subtle field recordings. Jacobs focuses on melodies, sometimes hidden melodies, or straight out melodies that took him back to various musical influences, current ones but also from his past, lurking into pop and loving imperfection. The lyrics are the spine of the record, the scenario where various species of birds lead the way, and where each track is a short chapter of the flight.

Shit and Shine - Malibu Liquor Store

Rocket Recordings LP Red/Blue Swirl

LAUNCH208

5055869572880

Craig Clouse - the Austin-based sage of the aurally unclean also known as Shit & Shine – has been busily channelling the interface between the surroundings and his own wayward muse into ‘Malibu Liquor Store’ – a lockdown-birthed psychic landscape mapped out in the first half of this turbulent year. The only expectation any relatively well-adjusted person should have of Shit & Shine remains the unexpected at this stage, with Clouse having released well over thirty records on multiple labels – just as comfortable with both bloody-minded electronic assaults and noiserock-driven dirge, as adept at kraut-hammered rhythmic mantras as dancefloor-friendly abstraction. ‘Malibu Liquor Store’ is none of these things exactly yet simultaneously flirts cheerily and irreverently with all of them. Always shot through with gleeful humour, this is a sonic world that recognises neither boundaries nor common sense.. Co-ordinates and reliable audial landmarks are rendered meaningless as the title cut comes on like a ‘60s Morricone chase sequence reassembled in new electronic shapes like lysergically-assisted Meccano. ‘Rat Snake’ sees the humid grooves of Can’s ‘Soon Over Babaluma’ bludgeoned into delirious submission. ‘Devil’s Backbone’ witnesses Buttholes-esque transgressions of the ‘80s beamed forward Terminator-style to a cyborg-ridden dystopia, and the glorious skeletal groove of album centrepiece ‘Hillbilly Moonshine’ meanwhile is nothing less than workout music for the damned – a relentless and pulsating soundtrack for a generation of ghouls mounting a legion of rowing machines along a metaphysical river Styx. 01. SHCAA

NO MOON AT ALL, WHAT A NIGHT (APOLLO RECORDS) Shcaa shows off his artistry once more on stunning new album, ‘No Moon At All, What a Night’, which lands on Apollo on October 9th. Paris based Shcaa makes abstract and emotional electronic music. The producer, composer and guitarist is meticulous in his use of space and time, arranging harmonies, rhythm and texture with a rare sensibility. He combines the synthetic and the organic and transcendent ways and has done so on the likes of Sharingtones, A rchival and Grow before now landing on Apollo. This new album emerged from recording sessions first started in NYC in autumn 2017 and is one heavily influenced by nocturnal urban moods. ‘No Moon At All, What a Night’ is made up of dense synthesised soundscapes, layered with rich melodies and harmonies that were composed on guitar. The artist explains more, saying, “I wanted the album to reflect a certain period of my life, the process of recognizing illusions, leaving them behind, discerning the important things, like shapes emerging from the dark. It is less hidden behind e xperimentalism than my first one. It is more lyrical when it needs to be but also draws more openly on club energy in some instances.” The record opens with introspective and downbeat offering 'Faroh's Bird' before melting into the lullaby like melodies and lilting grooves of 'Auguries' which is subtle yet uplifting. The off-beat 'Moralia' layers up more freeform and jazzy chords with lumpy rhythms and closely mic'ed vocals to enthralling effect. After the slick dub techno hypnosis of 'Oons Ide' come the gorgeous keys and spoken word vocal musings of 'If You Fall', then the lush piano interlude ‘Sometime’. The second half of tthis most alluring album takes in deep, driving rhythms on 'Sister,' hot and steamy, lo-fi r&B on 'When Eternity' and cosmic soundscapes on 'Until We Meet.' Excellent breakbeats and pitch shifted vocal sounds make 'Fantastic' a dream-like trip then 'Aurora' closes with some eerie and cavernous ambient that provokes deep contemplation.

CLAN OF XYMOX Clan Of Xymox CD RESTOCK

Clan Of Xymox featured a trio of songwriters - Pieter Nooten, Ronny Moorings and Anke Wolbert – and were inspired by the likes of The Cure and New Order. Originally called Xymox, Clan of Xymox is the title of their debut album, released in 1985 and was subsequently adopted as the name of the band after its release. The band’s distinctive synth-rock sound attracted Ivo’s attention when they released a limited edition mini-album called Subsequent Pleasures in their native Holland. Signing the group to 4AD, Ivo flew them from Amsterdam to Scotland, where he co-produced their self-titled debut album. They recorded their dark and somewhat forbidding second album Medusa, released in 1986 under the now official band name of Clan Of Xymox. By the late ‘80s their music was creating a buzz in the clubs as well as inhabiting the arthouse scene. 1. A Day 2. No Words 3. Stumble and Fall 4. Cry in the Wind 5. Stranger 6. + previous album I Am The Last... was a ‘19 best-seller. + M. Geddes Gengras has collaborated with Sun Araw, The Congos, Akron/Family, Pocahaunted, Duppy Gun, & Robedoor, and has released music on labels like RVNG, Holy Mountain, Umor Rex, Leaving Records & Room40. “The alien-like ripple effect retreats as slow synths melt into each other, foregrounding the sound of falling water droplets. Spa-like tranquility eventually gives way to more sinister notes, perhaps foreshadowing the darkness awaiting our protagonist.” - Pitchfork “Zoltan” starts like waking up in a jungle paradise, with gentle surf lapping against a beach, before a lush avian chorus, soothing, but just this edge of turning sinister. Even as Gengras’s modular synths rise and crest at a deep meditation tempo – see the staticky ending of “The Pump At The Way Station” as it warps and zaps some bits of dissonance into the start of the next track “Cellar/Oracle”, which rustles and fidgets with restless energy that does not progress, but rattles around in circles.” - Wire

Doug & Max HausuMountain @gmail.com 847-220-1755

Over the last decade, M. Geddes Gengras has released an enormous catalog of wide-ranging, synth-focused music in both solo and collaborative settings. He has participated in influential experimental groups like Sun Araw, Pocahaunted, Robedoor, and Akron/Family. Along with Sun Araw’s Cameron Stallones and Alex Gray, and a host of Jamaican singers and artists, Gengras continues to blur the boundaries of dub and electronic music under the name Duppy Gun. The project initially solidified with an acclaimed collaboration called Icon Give Thank (RVNG, 2012) with roots reggae legends The Congos. His solo works have appeared on labels like Room40, Leaving Records, Holy Mountain, and Umor Rex. After many years in Los Angeles, Gengras relocated to Hudson, NY. Time Makes Nothing Happen, Gengras’s second release with Hausu Mountain, explores territories similar to the topographical ambient synth networks of I Am The Last of That Green and Warm-Hued World (HAUSMO88, 2019), but resolutely turns the dial away from expansive drone pieces toward the realm of technoid beat experiments. While I Am the Last… drew power from the vast scope of its side-length sessions, Time Makes Nothing Happen pares down Gengras’s work into more compact pieces each with their own narrative sweep and specific palette of tones, beaming listeners between discrete biomes at a relatively rapid clip. Originally self-released on Bandcamp in mid-2020, Time Makes Nothing Happen appears in its first physical edition as an hour-long program of rhythmic electronic odysseys rounded out by the inclusion of an unreleased track. Gengras recorded every piece as a live take with his rig of modular synthesizers and drum machines, and stitched the results together into a seamless tapestry of complementary atmospheres and percussive workouts that ebb and flow along their own fluid arcs. He coaxes stunning details out of his machines, from bubbling drum patterns and liquidated, glitch-adjacent webs of rhythm, to crisp lattices of melodic arpeggios, to washes of pure sculpted texture. While some pieces highlight a battery of percussion voices as their main focus, others plant more minimal kick drum grids behind dense fields of crystalline harmonic flourishes that scatter around with their own indiscernible logic. M. Geddes Gengras’s focus on improvised electronic beat patterns and his regular introduction of contrasting timbral elements animates Time Makes Nothing Happen with an unpredictable energy. His dynamic arcs of synth storytelling lay out a listening experience where any seemingly cemented beat can crumble on a moment’s notice, only to be replaced by a new array of rhythms that lead up the cliffside to the next plateau. Momentary bursts of squelching, finegrain waveforms populate his rich production environments, as drum patterns actively reconfigure themselves and defy any expectations of legible recursion. Gengras employs distinctly harmonic voices as agents of forward motion and rhythmic consistency, creating pockets of groove out of chiming synth figures and steady yet constantly shifting basslines. The attention to detail that he brings to the treatment of each element results in mutating spreads where a half-dozen or more synth voices might pop into view at any given moment, recurring and draping over each other into unforeseen permutations both on and off the underlying grid. Described in the album’s credits as a series of pieces composed “for/by synthesizers,” Time Makes Nothing Happen explores the fertile space where humans and machines guide each other through randomized operations and deliberate compositional gestures toward a middle ground where the borders between chance and intentionality can no longer be found.

John Bence uses music to probe the deepest recesses of the human psyche. The composer has already built up a striking body of work bound by an incredible clarity of vision. His elegiac works occupy an omnivorous sound-world, assimilating elements of British avant-garde and electronic music, classical tradition and sacred medieval song into cavernous, sepulchral compositions. Love forms the final chapter in a trio of works with Kill and Disquiet that chart Bence’s experiences with addiction and his subsequent journey to recovery. Returning to his first love, the piano, Bence explores the instrument’s deeply emotional qualities in ten movements. Love’s stark minimalism and raw production reflect the composer’s personal struggles with striking honesty, searching for the deeper meaning in human suffering.

THE LUCKY LOSERS GODLESS LAND - VINYL

San Francisco’s finest male/female lead band, The Lucky Losers, release their much-anticipated 4th album, “Godless Land,” and continue their winning streak with acclaimed producer/engineer, and multiinstrumentalist, Kid Andersen who is featured on the album. After having won “Best Independent BluesSoul Artist” in 2019 for “Blind Spot,” vocal duo Cathy Lemons & Phil Berkowitz (backed by an all-star band) STREET DATE: 10/13/20 take you on a sumptuous musical journey through the bawdy, jazzy blues of the late 1920’s, the jump swing era of the late 50’s, Chicago and Tin Pan Alley music of the ‘60’s, and finally, the sweet R&B/ soul of the early ‘70’s. Berkowitz’s bright tenor voice and big, rich sounding harp punctuates Lemons’ haunting vocals, while serpentine guitar lines, funky organ, and wah-wah riffs bring each song to life. Of its twelve tracks, nine are originals (six by Cathy Lemons, and three by Phil Berkowitz and collaborator Danny Caron) and three are rare gems made for the vocal duet. There is a bewitching balance between Berkowitz’s seductive, introspective songwriting and Lemons’ stark, revelatory commentary on today’s tragic state. TRACKS:

DAVE ALVIN FR0M AN OLD GUITAR NOVEMBER 20, 2020 I own a few old guitars. Unlike some guitar players, I don’t have a huge collection of vintage guitars, only a few choice instruments that I fell in love with when both the guitars and I were younger and closer to mint condition. Over the decades of constant touring and recording, my 1964 Fender Stratocaster, 1934 National Steel Bodied Duolian, 1954 Martin 00018, 1958 Martin D28 and I have shared a lot of good times and some not so good times, some great gigs and more than a few terrible ones, some tough studio sessions and, without a doubt, many more fun ones. The recordings on this album are all from fun sessions. Some of these tracks were original songs recorded for albums of mine but wound up being left off for one reason or another while others were recorded for various tribute albums. The majority, though, were recorded for no other reason at all than the sheer kicks of going into a recording studio to make some joyous noise with musicians and singers that I love and admire. There’s some acoustic blues and ballads, rocking electric barroom blues, folk/rock, country/rock and some mixtures of all those styles. There’s songs written by dear friends like Peter Case, Bill Morrissey and Chris Smither, while some written by heroes like Willie Dixon, Bob Dylan, Doug Sahm, Lil’ Hardin Armstrong, Marty Robbins and Bo Carter. If I had a few extra bucks in my pocket, I’d book a day in the studio, call some old (or new) friends, comrades and co-conspirators to join me and see what would happen. No pressure, no expectations, just making music for the transcendental thrill of, well, making music. I’ve always been lucky to be surrounded by musicians who are better than I am. These recordings are no exception. I’m proud and happy that there are some of my fellow old Blasters pals on this disc along with my lifelong guitar guru, Greg Leisz, plus members of The Guilty Men/Women/Ones among the varied, infinitely talented musicians and singers who joined me in recording these tracks. I’m especially moved to have some beloved ghosts appearing on this album. I’ll admit to getting more than a bit misty eyed hearing performances from the late Bobby Lloyd Hicks and Amy Farris and I have no shame in saying that having my late, best friend Chris Gaffney playing and singing with me again, can get me crying like a newborn while smiling like a big, happy goofball. I sincerely hope you enjoy these songs (and the musicians/singers bringing them to life). These recordings may be rare, unreleased or little heard but I’m very proud of them and they hold a very special, warm place in my heart. Just like my old guitars. - Dave Alvin

OVERVIEW The next chapter for Dirty Projectors is a sequence of five four-song EPs. Each EP features lead vocals by a different band member including Maia Friedman, Felicia Douglass, Kristin Silpp and Dave Longstreth. The final EP features vocals by all members. Each song collection is strikingly different from the next, but true to itself: Maia’s Window Opens is acoustic & folky; Felicia’s Flight Tower is super future, both soulful & electronic. Kristin’s Earth Crisis is cut-up orchestral collage — looped, pitch-shifted, digitally deconstructed— and Dave’s Super João is four-track bossa nova. Ring Road, the final EP, recapitulates everything with a classic full-band Dirty Projectors sound.

"'Lose Your Love' is a bright, arty, R&B-tinged track, and it suggests this whole five EP project might turn out to be a pretty interesting exercise in the malleability of one band." STEREOGUM “...this EP series is destined to be one of the most compelling things the band have done in quite some time... these songs are too irresistible to abstain from for very long.” SPECTRUM CULTURE “The lineup often shifts, but the creative nature of this band, headed by David Longstreth, doesn't… It's a band in which any member can take the lead, and that's the beauty here. We see Dirty Projectors change and surprise us with each new song, something so rare and vibrant.” NPR

Dwight Yoakam’s, Population: Me (2003) and Dwight’s Used Records (2004) are being pressed on vinyl for the first time! Repackaged with updated artwork and remastered for vinyl, these two titles are being released on limited edition color vinyl for the first pressing release. Dwight’s Used Records features several cuts that Yoakam contributed to several tribute compilations, duets that appeared on other artists’ albums, and a few unreleased covers. The album sounds remarkably cohesive despite the various sources and artists involved, and speaks to the consistent run of strong recordings Yoakam and producer Pete Anderson developed over their nearly twenty-year run. The collection contains the rootsy blend of country and bluegrass that has always been at the heart of Yoakam’s music. Although unquestionably a country record, Population Me offers a wider array of musical colors than the straight country sound Yoakam’s has come to be known for. This record features seven original songs as well as three covers tracks. Bluegrass legend Earl Scruggs plays banjo on the reworked cover of Burt Bacharach’s “Trains and Boats and Planes,” and banjo is also prominently featured on the Los Angeles singer-songwriter Mike Stinson’s “The Late Great Golden State,” which features Timothy B. Schmit of the Eagles on background vocals.

It’s an artful blend—leavened with a little classic R&B—that clicked commercially, as Gavin’s 2003 debut album Chariot went Platinum and spawned several hit singles including the Top Ten hit (and One Tree Hill theme song) “I Don’t Want to Be.” Fans all over the world have been waiting for Chariot to emerge on vinyl, and for its LP premiere, we’ve pressed up 1000 copies in “leafy sunlight” transparent green vinyl in homage to the album cover and put ‘em inside a printed inner sleeve with lyrics. SCREAMING FEMALES CHALK TAPE

Initially released in a limited run of just 100 cassette copies, Chalk Tape was available and sold at only one show (at which it sold out immediately) in 2013, which was the first show back for the band after a six-month hiatus from touring and performing. It has not been available in any physical format since then. The EP’s genesis came after an extended period of touring inactivity while guitarist/vocalist Marissa Paternoster was recovering from a severe illness. The band worked on the seven songs that would make up Chalk Tape as a writing and collaboration exercise to keep creative energy fresh, following up 2012’s Steve Albini produced 2xLP Ugly. Chalk Tape has existed outside the official canon of Screaming Females’ catalog since its release, though it is a unique document of a band concurrently writing, recording, and performing in real-time and capturing of their songs as they were being created.

OVERVIEW Speed Kills is the debut full length from London’s loudest breakout band Chubby and the Gang. Beginning as a humble pipedream of West London electrician Charlie Manning, who spent years finding his way through the London punk and hardcore scene, the album is the manifestation of a musical mind marinating in hard punk, pub rock, blues, and doo-wop. From the sneering eternity of “All Along the Uxbridge Road,” to the Hammond Organ smeared “Bruce Grove Bullies” -- the songs will have you reaching for your London A to Z and trying your hardest not to spill your pint. Finding a new home on Partisan Records, Speed Kills has been remastered at West London’s Metropolis Studios and features a previously unreleased track “Union Dues”. This limited edition yellow vinyl version includes a bonus sticker sheet

“These unruly British punks sound like hardcore kids playing pub rock, and their debut comes alive with liberating energy.” 8.0

Mode for Titan proves that the bass is a melodic and ambient force in its own right. Writing on and for the bass, Josh Werner explores new dimensions of composition and improvisation, and effortlessly moves through sonic textures, all without a conventional rhythm section. Producer Bill Laswell steers the seasoned composer, performer and abstract painter Werner into novel instrumental territory, including the sitar bass, seven-string and fretless bass. The record’s wide array of influences reflects Werner’s experience and diverse skillset, yet Mode for Titan maintains its introspective focus and stays grounded in minimalist beauty throughout. Laswell’s production endows this sonic journey with a vast sense of space, painted in a ray of colors as boundless as the producer’s own palette. Werner’s work with Ghostface Killah, CocoRosie, Lee Perry, Cibo Matto, Popcaan, James Brandon Lewis, Matisyahu and Tunde Adebimpe has cemented the producer and songwriter’s status as a low-end heavyweight.

King Hannah

Tell Me Your Mind and I'll Tell You Mine (EP) RD: 20.11.20 Sometimes a band arrives out of nowhere, with a fully formed sound ready to fill a stadium. King Hannah are one of those bands. The Liverpool band led by the creative force of Hannah Merrick and Craig Whittle have arrived with ‘Tell Me Your Mind and I'll Tell You Mine’, an EP that is both soothing in its moods and intoxicating in its rushing soundscapes, containing a sound that is both brand new and completely mature. Their neon guitar lines and intimate torchlight vocals put the everyday on a pedestal, lifted by melodic licks that swell into dense and swirling atmospheric textures.

‘Tell Me Your Mind and I'll Tell You Mine’ sounds like late nights and early mornings, from the beauty and closeness of acoustic guitar in opener "And Then Out of Nowhere, It Rained", to the final immersive thicket of distorted guitars in “Reprise (Moving Day)”. In between, "Meal Deal" is smoky backroom Americana transposed onto the precarity of finding somewhere to live; "Bill Tench" feels like melancholic euphoria of travelling in fast cars at night – drums flash past like lines on the asphalt with angular guitars. "Crème Brûlée" is a moody fugged-out ballad for the everyday, and "The Sea Has Stretch Marks" conjures a whirling post-rock exploration of cinematic memories. King Hannah lean in to immersive moments in their music. “Rock and roll was a relief after the rigor of Henry Cow.” That was one of the thoughts in Anthony Moore’s brain in the late summer of 1975. Of course, leaving Henry Cow had meant the dissolution of the band he’d founded, Slapp Happy, as the two groups had essentially merged over the previous year. Still, there was plenty yet to do with music, and based on Anthony’s propensity for odd left turns, a solo career in the pop world seemed like a fine way to follow up his prior excursions in tape-based modern composition, writing soundtracks for experimental films, avant-pop and experimental rock. Managed and published by Blackhill Enterprises, Anthony signed a solo deal with Virgin — and while the music he recorded for OUT didn’t see release upon completion in 1976 (and wasn’t released at all until a CD issue of the late 1990s), we’re finally getting those historic recordings for OUT on vinyl after all these years, with the long-lost original artwork restored. It is worth the wait — an absolute lost chapter from mid-70s, proto-new wave Britain, bringing to mind the bright and subversive sounds of Eno, Wyatt, Ayers, Cale and so many other trail-blazers from that time. A fantastic joy to the ears! The original quality of OUT according to Anthony: folk-rock with weird time signatures. It made sense — odd bar numbers drifting in and out of sync were a driving aspect of the minimalist records he made for Polydor in ’71 and ’72, and now, played on piano, they sounded like the beginning of potentially radio-worthy songs. Music was still growing within him — it had first ex-

ploded in a weird, psychic shock that hit around the age of 18, comprised of equal parts youthful heartbreak, drugs and a recognition of the late 60s’ decaying zeitgeist. This was the start of a career-long pendulum-swing between opposite poles: experimental and popular music. Never happier than when working with machines and processes, Anthony hadn’t really allowed his pure musician self free reign until OUT. For “the troubadour with Revoxes,” this venture into playing guitar and singing in a professional context was a new thing. But it developed quickly and with the help of a bunch of like-minded studio folk and a hive of artists, writers and friends who revolved around an apartment in West London, the work progressed steadily. From the summer of ’75 to spring ’76, Anthony was in and out of the studios, along with producer Peter Jenner from Blackhill, working with a cross-section of Britain’s finest musicians and engineers at legendary facilities like Abbey Road, Air, and Richard Branson’s Oxfordshire getaway, The Manor, to produce the eleven tracks that make up OUT. In early 1976, Virgin released “Johnny’s Dead” as a single, and OUT went into production: test tapes were made, artwork commissioned from Hipgnosis was delivered. Then fate took a turn in the form of a sudden changing of the guard in the Virgin front office. This brought a new team in with predictably different priorities. Despite the high quality of the effervescent, deftly-arranged pop songs that Anthony had delivered, the project was summarily written off. Meanwhile, fate was taking another turn: a package containing the complete artwork for the cover of OUT, previously sent to CBS-Japan as part of a licensing agreement, went missing in Tokyo. It was rescued by the music lover, publisher, critic and producer Agi Yuzuru, who decades later bequeathed it to Anthony’s close friend Satoru Higashiseto: an edition of one, the only extant version of the original, cancelled Virgin release! Anthony has continued making music on both sides of his internal divide — experimental and pop. The ’79 release, Flying Doesn’t Help, presented the singer-songwriter with a spiky artpunk production ’do, creating another cult masterpiece. Since then, with a variety of different labels, including his own, Anthony continues to make records and play live performances. 44 years later, this issue finally restores the original vision of OUT.

Keeley Forsyth follows up her critically lauded debut album, Debris, with the Photograph EP. Across four tracks the domestic tensions remain, albeit taking a more introspective view. Forsyth’s striking vocals are cocooned within otherworldly synthesisers which transport her words across continents before sucking the air out of the room. There’s an aching sense of detachment, which resonates with the circumstances in which it was written. “I always work from home,” Forsyth explains. “This time, the isolation had a new influence on my lyrical ideas. I was contemplating the idea of homesickness within the home; when life is lived on the domestic grid, in rooms and in tasks. I was looking to reframe the day, to give sound to the picture.” Photograph takes two steps on from Debris’ electronic closer ‘Start Again’. Continuing the fruitful working relationship with composer Matthew Bourne and bringing Trestle Records’ Ross Downes into the fray, it hints at the vast possibilities open to Forsyth on her next album, and also brings the late period Scott Walker comparisons into focus, with traditional song structures giving way to something more expansive. Cloaked in darkness but seeking surreal beauty and art in the debris of modern life. 12” A1. A2. B1. B2.

Intervals is the eighth album from Tim Arndt's Near the Parenthesis. For Intervals, Arndt's chose the family piano to begin the creative process. By placing less importance on the skittering rhythms, which propelled previous Near the Parenthesis collections, Arndt was able to focus more on the instant gratification of sitting down and just playing. These ideas became the backbone in which he then composed eight tidal tracks, mostly in the early morning hours in his East San Franciso Bay creekside home. In these sessions, Arndt utilized various synths, and percussion to provide additional depth and atmosphere to the tracks' original skeletal structures. Arndt says of Intervals, "The title has a dual meaning as there has been a decent period of time between my previous album Helical and the release of Intervals, Four years to be exact. This concept of time and the spaces between gives the title its other connotation, which is a nod to musical intervals and the spaces between notes. I think this becomes evident in my use of arpeggiation, which I feel is a grounding motif across the album." As with many Arndt's Near The Parenthesis works, there is a gentile hopefulness sewn through Intervals forty-minute runtime that provides much-needed solace in such unsettling times. Intervals will be out on October 16th on white vinyl, which is limited to 200 units worldwide.

On 20th November, Brownswood Recordings release the 4th edition of the Future Bubblers compilation. An expansion of Gilles Peterson’s network and supported by Arts Council England, the talent discovery and artist development scheme focuses on developing unsigned talent and building audiences for new left-field music. With support from PRS Foundation as Talent Development Partners, the professional recording, manufacturing and physical release of Future Bubblers 4.0 is made possible. Unlike any other initiatives within music, the compilation acts as a springboard for the musician’s careers with the cooperative model providing direct revenue to the artists by a share of the profits resulting in a sustainable income to work from. Previous Future Bubblers include artists such as Yazmin Lacey, Skinny Pelembe, MC Snowy and Kayla Painter to name a few. The 8 track compilation is a musically diverse collection of tracks, fusing genres that span across Electronic, Alt-R&B, Alt-Hip-Hop, Spoken word, Neo-Soul, Jazz and beyond. Opening with Forest Law - who recently released his debut EP on Brownswood Recordings - ‘Slow One’ combines his effortless vocals with a kaleidoscopic of groove-driven instrumentation. Singer/songwriter Quko demonstrates sonic elegance on his emotive track ‘My Darling Spaceship’ whilst HMD’s ‘If I’ reminds us that we’re only given one shot at life. Up next, Kiddus offers up a bouncy, late-night vibe on ‘Slow’ and An Alien Called Harmony switches things up with Nadeem Din-Gabisi and Metta Shiba proving their formidable connection on ‘N.H.H’. Manchester MC KinKai pours his old soul onto the page on ‘Scatty Brain Dump’ followed by Iman Houssein’s distorted vocals and delicate keys on ‘Slow Things Down’. Rounding the compilation off perfectly is Lazy H’s epic ‘When The Horn Comes In’ which perfectly combines elements of electronic and live. Spanning just over 30 minutes, Future Bubblers 4.0 is an extremely impressive assemblage of talent who have all delivered top-shelf tunes. Released both digitally and on vinyl, the compilation embodies the spirit of the musicians as well as the team behind Future Bubblers.

Teenage Waitress - Love & Chemicals

180g Violet transparent vinyl. Love and Chemicals is the debut album from Southampton based singer / songwriter Teenage Waitress aka Daniel J. Ash. In Daniel’s own words ‘’Love and Chemicals plays like a collection of short stories or vignettes. I wanted to create something of a musical patchwork quilt with all sorts of different textures, styles and emotions. I had been writing music for a guitar - based indie band for many years but these songs were my first written with a computer. I loved the freedom of being able to write and experiment with a whole range of different instruments from the accordion to drum machines, from the kazoo to the spoons - they’re all in there somewhere and can really help with setting the scene with some of the stories on the album. I really wanted to work outside my comfort zone both musically and lyrically. It’s by far the best thing I’ve ever done and I’m very excited to see where I can go next.” A 12 track raw explosion of contagious synth based indie pop. 1. High in someone else's time 2. Time comes in cycles sometimes what we thought we left behind suddenly catches up with us and changes the ‘Plan’. Amebix vowed never to play again after the sad ending of the band in 1987, out of steam and with little support we simply drifted apart. It wasn’t until the advent of the internet that it became apparent that we had left a wake in our passing, which had in turn passed the torch on to those who would follow. There was some satisfaction in that, and also some niggling feeling that we had never really had our ‘day in the sun’, but as I say, time comes in cycles.Stig, Roy & I all got together for the first time in 2008, I had not picked up a bass guitar for 22 years , whilst Stig had kept his hand in with his own projects , and Roy Mayorga has barely left a drum stool since his early days in Nausea, but it was the first time that we had all met , let alone played together. The brief was to try and re -visit three songs, to see what there was left of the music that had driven us so hard when we were just kids. If it didn’t work, we would all have tried anyway and had a good experience along with it. But it did work, the first track we recorded was WINTER, the first take was the one we kept, and that is ultimately the version you hear. We all stood around a bit stunned, this is easy ..lets crack into Arise!...........nailed ! As the tracks came together, we realised that a door was opening, and that we had a choice, to walk along this road again or hang up the strap for good. Personally I am glad that we walked on, 2009 was a great year , a time of celebration and re-birth, and a vindication of the body of work that we had spent ten years on, which found a home within the souls of so many good people .
