Cyclones 9 Sabers 5 The Sabers winning streak came to an end in the battle for third place as the Cyclones were able to edge them by 4 points in a tight defensive victory. Every shot counted as Ethan Sianipar dropped in 4 points and Sharaf Zaman added a bucket for the winners. But Bodie Feller, Nikolas Garza, and Maxwell McKennan each scored a free throw prior to the game and that made all the difference. The Sabers got two field goals from their leading scorer Hari Sran but only Nathaniel Dunne converted a free throw on 16 team attempts. Lil’ Dubs 31 Terminators 7 The Lil’ Dubs finally found their stroke this Saturday and came up with their highest scoring affair this season. Jeremiah Brown broke into double figures with an unstoppable 14 point performance. The quick point guard darted in again and again for lay-ups to lead his team. He had help from Eiden Ndeithi who added 7, Shane Smith with 3, Nathan Winton, Shane Nelson, and La’Rell Dean with 2 apiece and Kenny Young, Jr. with 1. Isaiah Solorio scored 3 points for the Terminators. Valentino Rodriguez added a bucket and Roman Lawson and Ivan Cadena-Rivera each swished free throws. Shockers 27 All Stars 23 In a much anticipated rematch between the division’s top two teams it was the Shockers who prevailed this time to bring the two scoring powerhouses to a game apiece and end the All Stars undefeated status. Kyle Ramirez led the Shockers with 11 points while Anthone Cobb added 8 and Jamier Johnson dropped in 7 points to overcome a strong free throw shooting performance by the All Stars. Joshua Morales added 3 and Joseph Hunter and Matthew Rankin each made free throws for the Shockers. The All Stars jumped out of the gate by starting the game with 10 made free throws. Joey Silva shot a perfect 4 for 4 prior to the game and ultimately finished with 7 points. All Star center Nehemiah Williams made 3 free throws and added two field goals to match Silva with another 7 to lead the All Stars. He had help from Krat Singh and Malick Morrar who each added 4 points and Garrett Hint’s free throw.

Team Warriors Annihilators Huskies Thunder

W 6 6 1 1

L 1 1 6 6

Annihilators 10 Huskies 3 One would suppose what the outcome would be when a powerhouse team like the Annihilators face the 1 and 5 Huskies. Added to that the fact that the Huskies only had 4 available players on the court due to illness it would seem like a walk in the park for the high flying Annihilators. Saturday’s game was nothing like that as the 4 Huskies gave the Annihilators who were fielding their 5 plus a bench, fits throughout the game. The end score reflects the defensive work that the hustling Huskies put in. The only Annihilator who was able to do anything was their star scorer Maya Sekhon but even she had to fight to score all 10 of the Annihilator’s points for the day. Mia McNesby hit a pre-game free throw and Shanelle Smith made a lay in for the Huskies. Warriors 19 Thunder 3 The Warriors and the Thunder are both extremely well coached teams. These girls are learning the game of basketball and understand the fundamentals and that was evident at this game. The difference is that the Warriors have the division’s top scorer Aliya Tipton on their side. Aliya has amassed 74 points during the regular season including the 12 points she scored this weekend. The Warriors had help from Velentina Chavez with 3 and Cassandra Duke, Mia Manns, Isabella Mendez, and Julissa Munoz who each added a free throw. Monet Dunham led the Thunder with her 2 points and Katie Lovell added a free throw.

L 0 3 4 6 8

Lightning 33 Cupcakes 9 The game was tied at 4 as the first quarter buzzer sounded but that’s when the Lightning unleashed their scoring triumvirate. Bryan Redfearn had a break out game for the Lightning leading his team in scoring for the first time this season with 12 points. League scoring leader Justice Sandoval added 8 points while Alonzo Cervantes dropped in 6 in the winning cause. Daniel Gover, Camden Hatch and Oscar Ramos each added a bucket. Ryan Santiago put in a good day’s work and scored all the Cupcakes points finishing with 9 points. Lightning 47 Warriors 15 The up and coming Warriors faced off against the undefeated Lightning for the final test of the regular season. The Warriors seemed determined to send a message to all comers that they can score with the best of them by opening up a 17 point lead at the end of the first quarter. This time is was Alonzo Cervantes who delivered the high numbers racking up 9 points in the first quarter alone. Cervantes led all scorers with 13, followed by Justice Sandoval’s 11. Camden Hatch and Oscar Ramos added 6 each, Bryan Redfearn swished a 3 in the first period and finished with 5 and Daniel Grover and Marlon Matute-Daiz each added 2. The Warriors who were without their lead scorer Elias Amani counted on Omar Haronee to lead them and he went for 9 points including a first quarter 3. Montek Sethi, Riju Debaditya and Scotty Lineweber each added a bucket. Elite 26 Running Rebels 15 Scott Shook of the Elite and Avery Knox of the Running Rebels had a scoring duel on Saturday with each ending up with 11 points for their teams. The difference was that Shook had a little more back up than Knox. The Elite’s Jaqwan Ashford put up a 9 point performance and Lamar Dean scored 4 more. Omari Arauz-Doucet added a bucket for the win. Jonathan Lyke was the only other rebel to score and he finished with 4 points.

Team Hurricanes Dream Team Sparks Splash Sisters Shooting Stars

W 8 7 2 2 2

L 0 1 6 7 7

Dream Team 20 Splash Sisters 8 The Dream Team didn’t score a single point in the 4th quarter but by then the damage was already done. They had built up a 16 point lead over three quarters and the Sisters late push ran out of time before they could get within range of an upset. Autumn Harris scored 10 points to bring her point total to an amazing 98 points over the course of the regular season. Mysteree Chairez added 8 points of her own and Maleyah Anderson dropped a pair of free throws in for good measure. MacKenzie Martin scored 6 points and Loviana Vakalahi added 2 to round out the scoring for the Sisters. Sparks 14 Splash Sisters 13 The Splash Sisters learned their lesson in game one of their double header. In this game they came out on fire matching the Sparks shot for shot in the first quarter to end tied at 8 all when the buzzer sounded. That’s when they fell silent for two whole quarters allowing the Sparks to sneak in 5 points over the course of the 3rd and 4th quarters. With time ticking away in the 4th quarter they made a move again but a key free throw by the Sparks’ Sloane Feller was the difference in this down to the wire game. The Sparks were led by Savina Salazar with 4, Feller and Alexa Garza with 3 and Ariana Seierup and Adrina Zumwalt with 2 each. The Sisters were led by MacKenzie Martin again with 5 in this outing. Loren Crowell scored 4 and Emily Bernard 2 for the Sisters. Hurricanes 23 Shooting Stars 21 The undefeated Hurricanes survived a scare this week as the 2-6 Shooting Stars almost marred their perfect record. With their coach unable to attend the Stars seemed determined to win this game in his honor. They broke out to 10-2 lead in the first quarter and hung on to their lead going into the half. The Hurricanes began to chip away in the third but had to ask each of their stars, two of whom fouled out in the 4th, to push hard to eek out a last second victory against the scrappy Shooting Stars. Maliyah Hutchinson led the ‘Canes with 10 points while Mia Llamas cranked out 8 in the paint plus a free throw. Georgia Frazier and Jada Cannon each added 2. The Shooting Stars’ Allison Kee slashed and dashed for 11 points while Sydney Busevac and Zehnna Ndeithi each added 4. Sierrah Tautolo contributed a bucket for the Stars as well.

Team Avengers Sparks Ballers Warriors

W 6 5 3 0

L 1 2 4 7

Avengers 24 Warriors 16 The Avengers did not score a single point in the 4th quarter but were able to salvage this victory and outlast the Warriors who kept scrapping until the very end of this match. Allan Hunter had 14 points to lead the Avengers and Tyler Sauceda and David Hunter each added 5. Trenton Thomas hit a three for the first time this season to round out the Avenger scoring. Cameron Pereira scored 6 points to lead the Warriors and Chase Henderson and Caden Duke each had 4. Jacob Shrout added a bucket for the Warriors. Ballers 38 Sparks 37 In this game the Sparks John Harris set the record for the most points scored in any division this season but the hero of the game title went to a less prolific scorer. Danielle Corell stepped to the line with nerves of steel and sank two free throws with one second left in overtime to first tie and then win the game for the Ballers handing the Sparks only their second loss of the season. The Sparks didn’t know what they were looking at when, for the first time this season, the Ballers drained trey after trey to keep up with the high scoring Harris. Harris finished with a whopping 29 points but the Ballers hit seven three pointers in this game to keep it close. Alfredo LanFranco led the Ballers with 14 points including three treys and teammate George Crowley had 13 including three long balls of his own. Kavi Sharma also hit a first quarter three ball and finished with 5. Allen Vocal, Jahdai Spikes and, of course, Danielle Corell each added 2 for the win. Remey Muchiri scored 5 for the Sparks and Mariah Cobb had 3 and almost dropped the game winner from way beyond the arc as her last second attempt hit backboard and rim before it bounced away.
