FALL 2013 LEAGUE NFL YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE

This is a recreational league designed for players to learn basic football and team work skills while having fun. Our goal is to provide an atmosphere of sportsmanship towards all players, coaches and officials. Background screenings are conducted on all coaches. Selected coaches are required to attend the Pre-Season Orientation. Week night practices begin August 26th. Opening day of games is Saturday, 9/7. All games are played on Saturday mornings/afternoons (dependent on team schedule). Only 1 buddy/car-pool request will be accepted per player. Jersey and flag belts will be provided. Participant’s age is determined by how old they will be on September 1, 2013. Weather cancellation line: 301-600-6291

Men’s 7 v 7 / 1 lineman eligible / some contact at the line. Opening Day is Sun 9/8. Approx. 8 regular season games prior to post season, all inclusive, playoff tournament. Developmental league designed for firsttime players and kids that want to give tee-ball a try. We work on improving fundamental skills to prepare for baseball/softball team play. Practice for 3 weeks at your home field; then, play four mini-games against other locations listed (locations and times TBA). Fee includes t-shirt and hat. A glove is required. Volleyball

MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

Students in grades 6-8th will learn basic volleyball skills, play in six games against other county school teams, participate in a tournament and have fun. Practice times held once a week and will vary at each site. The Parks & Recreation Division will form teams. Games will be held at various Rec Centers. Volunteer coaches are needed and will receive a discount. Registration fee includes a team shirt and individual medal. A program for youth to increase Power, Agility and Speed by enhancing fine motor skills. This program is designed for all aspiring and returning athletes. Preschool

Parent and Child Aquatics helps young children get ready to swim by emphasizing fun in the water. Parents and children participate in several guided practice sessions. These basic skills include adjusting to the water environment, showing comfort while maintaining a front or back position in the water and demonstrating breath control, including blowing bubbles or voluntarily submerging. Preschool Swim Purpose: To orient preschool-age children to the aquatic environment and to help them acquire rudimentary levels of basic aquatic skills. In level 1 students will learn how to enter and exit the water safely. Students will learn to submerge his/her head and open their eyes under the water to see objects. The child will learn to float and glide on his/her stomach and back while being supported and explore ways of changing position in the water using their arms and legs. Prior to enrollment in this class, child should have little to no in-water experience and may even be fearful of the water. AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD TRAINING

This course trains participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. Certification includes: Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer through the American Red Cross Attendance at all classes is mandatory! Fee includes textbook and resuscitation mask. Prerequisites will be tested on September 9, 2013. Course is non-refundable. Prerequisites: Be at least 15 years old by the last day of class. This is where the foundations and continuations of belly dancing and a healthy posture are taught. The classes focus on developing flexibility and learning how to move the parts of the body which are often ignored in day to day living. Visit the “Big Apple” your way! Shop, sightsee, dine, or see a show. You decide how you want to spend the day in one of the greatest cities in the world. South of Middletown, Catoctin Creek Park & Nature Center is 139 acres of excitement waiting for you to explore. Fountain Rock Park and Nature Center

Tucked away, west of Walkersville, is the beautiful 22.5 acre Fountain Rock Park & Nature Center. This environmental park contains one of Maryland's strongest springs, from which 3.25 million gallons of water may flow per day. A nature center and many local historical structures such as the 20 foot high historic lime kilns are present to make your visit more memorable.

Rose Hill Manor

Rose Hill Manor, the retirement home of Thomas Johnson, Maryland’s first elected Governor, serves as a hands-on history museum for children of all ages. The property features a Manor House, icehouse, log cabin, blacksmith shop, carriage collection and two barns. Various theme tours are available. Early program registration is encouraged since roster size is limited. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Pre-registration required unless otherwise indicated.

REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION

Confirmation sent via e-mail, otherwise your cancelled check or credit card statement is your receipt. You will be notified if there is a problem processing your registration or if the program is cancelled. Please make a note of your program start date.

REVISED-REFUND POLICY

Our refund policy encourages early decisions, so as to not affect other customers or our ability to deliver efficient programs. All requests for refunds must be made at least 10 business days prior to the start of the program. A 20% administrative fee will be charged per refund transaction. Registrations that require advanced tickets are not refundable. Refunds for Sport League registrations must be made prior to the listed league registration deadline. There are no refunds for missed sessions.

PROGRAM CREDITS/TRANSFERS

To avoid the administrative fee, a customer may transfer into another program with no additional fee. A credit may also be kept on the customer account at no additional charge. Requests for both credits and transfers can only be made 5 or more business days prior to the program start date. There are no refunds of credits.

RETURNED CHECKS

A $25 fee will be charged for checks returned for non-payment.

AGE POLICY

Program participants must be the advertised age for a program before the program ends. All age requirements are set to benefit the participants and to make the instruction consistent and safe.

TRIPS ALCOHOL POLICY

We strive to have a family atmosphere on our trips. If you choose to drink alcohol while on one of our trips please do so responsibly and make arrangements to have a designated driver for your trip home from the bus drop off area.

DISCIPLINE

The Division has a discipline policy for program participants. In the event the participant is asked to leave a program/facility, no refund will be issued.

The Division is committed to providing accessibility for individuals with disabilities and strives to provide equal, integrated participation in all programs, activities, and services. The Division’s policy is to reasonably accommodate all qualified program applicants in accordance with the 1990 ADA. PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS/ WEATHER-RELATED CLOSURES

Please see your instructor on the first day of your program for a schedule. If there is an exception, you will be informed by the Parks and Recreation staff on the program schedule. If you are not sure whether a program will be held, call our program cancellation line at 301-600-6291. During inclement weather, outdoor programs may be cancelled. Every effort will be made to make-up missed classes. Refunds will not be granted for rescheduled classes that are missed due to conflicts with personal schedules. The Division may cancel a program for any reasonable cause.
