Aquatics LEVEL 5: STROKE REFINEMENT
Purpose: Provide further coordination and refinement of strokes. Children learn safe diving rules, throwing assist, dive from stride position or shallow dive, feet-first surface dive, survival float, back float, front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly. Introduction to Water Skills: helps participants feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. Students will work to gain confidence and submerge their face in the water. AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD TRAINING
This course trains participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. Certification includes: Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer through the American Red Cross Attendance at all classes is mandatory! Fee includes textbook and resuscitation mask. Prerequisites will be tested on September 9, 2013. Course is non-refundable. Prerequisites: Be at least 15 years old by the last day of class. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing using the front crawl and breaststroke. Tread water for two minutes using only the legs. Swim 20 yards using the front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object return to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object within 1 minute, 40 seconds. 15+ yrs / 3 wks / $225.00 Walkersville High School 1577 M, Th 9/9-9/26 4:30-7:30pm
TWEEN STROKE IMPROVEMENT
