Her response, “I don’t want to hate making jewelry because I took my hobby and turned it into a business.” Years after graduating college and working in corporate and non-profit, Chatman

fulfillment. She realized creating jewelry had been a constant source of enjoyment for her and that maybe now was the proper time to take the leap and do something she really loved. Giving Back -
All proceeds of the LunaTeal Jewelry trunk show support the Genesis Women’s Shelter as a way to convey what LunaTeal represents: empowering women. Genesis Women’s Shelter, a non-profit devoted to end domestic violence against women and children, helps to “raise the level of community awareness regarding the pervasiveness and effects of domestic violence.” By partnering with Genesis Women’s Shelter, LunaTeal’s exposure will grow within the charity’s supporters. Supporters of the charity represent the LunaTeal woman.
Trunk Show -
The trunk show, held at Verita’s Wine Bar Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 5:30 p.m., showcases the newest collection, Nature’s Passion. Tables filled with pieces from the Nature’s Passion collection surround the room for guests to walk by and purchase items. Guests enjoy a complimentary glass of wine while they shop. Guests can move from table to table trying on different pieces of the collection with their own personal hand held mirror as a gift to see the beauty for themselves. Le Sophistique founder/blogger Rebecca Marin will help demonstrate to guests how to style her favorite pieces from the collection while incorporating the latest fall trends. Leslie Chatman can customize orders for guests who have particular elegant tastes.

LunaTeal Jewelry will plan seasonal trunk shows with different charities. There will be more advertisements on local Dallas fashion blogs, social media pages, sent out in emails, and on the charity’s main website.

For Leslie Chatman, jewelry has gone from a simple hobby in her early years to an all-consuming business that has her losing track of time and never without inspiration. Growing up in Plano has played a large role in this jeweler’s life. Although she has moved just across city limits, Chatman will still do her shopping in the city she has long called home. “I have always kind of made bracelets and necklaces,” Chatman said. “People have always liked it and complimented my work. Then my neighbor from grade school found me on Facebook and told me she still had a bracelet I made her from several years ago and told me she still loved it.” What began as a simple comment soon turned into several friends and admirers asking Chatman to start her own business. “I have been making jewelry all through my childhood and as I got older I started making things and wearing things more often myself,” Chatman said. “People started saying that I should sell things and start my own business. It took many years and a lot of people talking me into it, but I started my own jewelry design business last year.” For the rest of the article, visit:
