But Real did win in Columbus in the 2009 Eastern Conference Semifinals on their way to victory in MLS Cup.  The Crew last won at Real Salt Lake in 2006, a 1-0 win at Rice-Eccles Stadium. RSL has won the last three home meetings between the clubs. Columbus has never won in three trips all-time to Rio Tinto Stadium in league and MLS Cup play.  Coaches record: Robert Warzycha v RSL: P6 W4 L2 D0… Jason Kreis vs. CLB: P8 W3 L5 D0 LAST MATCH 6/8: CLB 2, RSL 1 (Mendoza 76, Gardner 82 – Olave 7)  Real took the lead in the seventh minute. Nelson González flighted in a corner kick from the right and Jámison Olave shook off his marker to bounce the ball off the turf and high into the goal.  The Crew began their fightback in the 76th minute when Andrés Mendoza converted a penalty kick after Justin Meram was tripped by Olave in the box.  Then in the 82nd minute, Josh Gardner score the eventual game-winner when his shot from 22 yards out hit the left thigh of RSL defender Chris Schuler then ricocheted past goalkeeper Nick Rimando.  COLUMBUS CREW (4-4-2): William Hesmer - Sebastian Miranda, Chad Marshall, Julius James, Josh Gardner - Eddie Gaven, Kevin Burns (Justin Meram 46), Rich Balchan, Emmanuel Ekpo - Jeff Cunningham (Aaron Horton 89), Andres Mendoza (Andy Iro 85)  REAL SALT LAKE (4-3-1-2): Nick Rimando - Tony Beltran, Chris Schuler, Jamison Olave, Chris Wingert - Ned Grabavoy, Kyle Beckerman, Nelson Gonzalez (Luis Gil 59) - Collen Warner (Andy Williams 66) - Jean Alexandre (Robbie Russell 80), Fabian Espindola. MLS GAME INFORMATION

LAST MATCH  The match turned in the 62nd minute. Earthquakes defender Bobby Burling was sent off after Alvaro Saborio went down in the area under his challenge. Burling was sent off by referee David Gantar, and Saborio converted the resulting penalty for the opening goal.  Saborío added another in the 75th minute. Midfielder Ned Grabavoy put a curling ball on frame, which San Jose ‘keeper Jon Busch could not control. Saborío was there for the rebound, and easily slotted it into the back of the net.  Just a few minutes later, RSL struck again. As Saborío took a shot near the penalty spot, teammate Collen Warner got in the way of it, but the ball found its way to the feet of Kyle Beckerman, who drilled the ball into the corner of the net.  Defender Jámison Olave added a fourth goal in the 83rd minute, heading home a cross from Arturo Alvarez to round out the scoring.  RSL coach Jason Kreis made two changes to the side that defeated FC Dallas 2-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium. Robbie Russell came in for Chris Wingert at fullback, and Fabian Espindola started up top for Luis Gil.  REAL SALT LAKE (4-3-1-2): Nick Rimando - Robbie Russell, Jamison Olave, Nat Borchers, Tony Beltran Ned Grabavoy (Arturo Alvarez 79), Kyle Beckerman, Will Johnson (Luis Gil 84) - Andy Williams (Collen Warner 72) - Fabian Espindola, Alvaro Saborio. TEAM NEWS  The seven-game unbeaten streak in league play (3-0-4), stretching back to June 11, is the third-longest undefeated run in club history, behind 18-game and 10-game runs in 2010.  “I feel that we’ve been improving every single match for five or six matches. I think this was number seven in league play … we had an Open Cup match that was a bit of a step backwards, but I think tonight we moved forward again,” said RSL head coach Jason Kreis. “But we’re still looking for 90 minutes of good play. Tonight it was 45, maybe 55; maybe there was 10 minutes of good play in the first half.”  Alvaro Saborio scored his second two-goal game of the season, also hitting for a pair in the June 25 win against Toronto FC.  “His play since he’s been back (from the CONCACAF Gold Cup) has been fantastic. He hasn’t scored in every game but you don’t have to score in every game,” Kreis said. “ I think that forwards can do a lot of other things, and tonight he did a lot things really well for this team and it was good to see him get on the scoreboard.”  The shutout was the 10th of the season for RSL, the ninth for goalkeeper Nick Rimando. Real have not allowed a goal in 207 minutes.  “You hope that over the course of a season some bounces are going to go your way and some decisions are going to go your way, and so tonight was one,” said Kreis. “I still think we have a couple more (calls) that we’ve got in our pockets.” COLUMBUS CREW The Columbus Crew returned home and rebounded for a 1-0 defeat with a victory by the same scoreline, against the Portland Timbers on Saturday evening at Crew Stadium. The Crew have 31 points from 20 games on the season, in a tie for second place in the Eastern Conference. LAST MATCH  After the Crew had an apparent goal cleared off the line by Darlington Nagbe, the game's lone goal came out of a similarly wild sequence on 69 minutes.  Tommy Heinemann's initial shot hit the left post past diving Timbers goalkeeper Troy Perkins. The ball bounced back out into the goalmouth and Gaven was able to flick the ball back toward goal, where it deflected off the chest of Portland defender Mamadou Danso on the goal line and into the net.  Crew head coach Robert Warzycha made four changes to the team that went down to a 1-0 defeat to the LA Galaxy at The Home Depot Center. Andy Gruenebaum started in goal in place of William Hesmer, Dejan Rusmir, Tommy Heinemann and Jeff Cunningham came into the team in place of Eric Gehrig, Bernardo Anor and Andres Mendoza.  COLUMBUS CREW (4-4-2): Andy Gruenebaum - Sebastian Miranda (Cole Grossman 79), Chad Marshall, Julius James, Josh Gardner - Eddie Gaven, Dejan Rusmir (Kevin Burns 66), Emmanuel Ekpo, Robbie Rogers Tommy Heinemann, Jeff Cunningham (Emilio Renteria 66). TEAM NEWS  The Crew put an end to their two-game scoreless streak with Eddie Gaven’s game-winning goal. They have still scored just two goals in the last five games.  “I am not surprised because when the core guys we have produce, we do very well. I think Robbie [Rogers] was very active, Eddie [Gaven] scored a goal, Manu [Ekpo] was active also as was Chad [Marshall],” said Crew head coach Robert Warzycha. “Renteria changed the game when he came on and we have a few more who are injured and when they come back we are going to be a very good team.”

The Crew did not manage a shot on goal in the opening 45 minutes against Portland, but still came through with their second 1-0 victory in the last four games. “In the second half the game opened up a little, we switched the formation and started getting a little more crosses in and created more chances and obviously we got rewarded with a good goal,” Warzycha said. Goalkeeper William Hesmer missed a league game for the first time since 2009, failing a prematch fitness test for a strained left quadriceps muscle. “I think he did well,: Warzycha said of deputy Andy Gruenebaum. “I think he was kicking the ball more in the first half when we wanted him to throw the ball to the defenders. In the second half he was much better.” Gruenebaum played in a league game for the first time since Aug. 30, 2009, though he started both games in the MLS Cup Playoffs for the Crew last year. “Obviously to get those games, those are competitive matches, and to play in those environments, it definitely helps, Gruenebaum said. “Having that under my belt I think calmed me down as well, if called upon I’m just kind of ready.” On Tuesday, the Crew lost 3-0 to Newcastle United of the English Premier League in a friendly at Crew Stadium. Shola Amoebi (9), Fabricio Colocinni (53) and Haris Vukcic (90+) scored for Newcastle. Here’s the Crew team: Andy Gruenebaum, Sebastian Miranda (Korey Veeder 46), Chad Marshall (Julius James 46), Eric Gehrig (Ben Sippola 5 /Mehdi Abeid 85), Shaun Francis (Josh Gardner 46), Emmanuel Ekpo (Robbie Rogers 46), Kevin Burns (Santiago Prim 75), Cole Grossman (Dejan Rusmir 60), Bernardo Anor (Eddie Gaven 46 / Aaron Horton 85), Tommy Heinemann (Justin Meram 46), Emilio Renteria (Chris Konopka, 45).

RSL HOSTS FAMILIAR FOE COLUMBUS: Now boasting a seven-game unbeaten run in MLS play (3-0-4, 13 points from 7 games), Real Salt Lake faces Columbus Crew Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium in the rare fourth meeting between the sides of 2011 …

RSL defeated the Crew 4-1 on aggregate in the Feb. 22 / March 1 CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinal Series, winning at home by that very score following a 0-0 road draw … Back in June in Columbus, RSL held a 1-0 lead for most of the match courtesy of an early Jamison Olave goal off a corner kick, but the Crew struck six minutes apart in the final quarter-hour to take the 2-1 decision … All-time, RSL is 7-9-2 across all competitions against the Crew, whom it swept in a 2009 MLS Cup Playoff series 4-2 on aggregate en route to hoisting the Cup … RSL is 1-0-1 in CCL play and 0-1 in U.S. Open Cup action against the Crew, which have won just twice in its eight all-time matches on Utah soil (2-5-1, outscored 7-17 by RSL) … Saturday‟s festivities between the 2008 and 2009 MLS Cup Champions kick off at 7:00 p.m. MT, with the match televised live on KMYU 2.2 / Comcast 22 / Dish 12 or via the MLS Direct Kick package … Fans can also follow over the air on RSL‟s official radio partners – ESPN 700 Sports Radio and ESPN Deportes 1600 AM / Juan 106.1 FM …

ALL-STARS BECKERMAN, OLAVE RETURN: Real

Salt Lake‟s Kyle Beckerman and Jamison Olave both participated in the 2011 MLS AT&T All-Star’s 0-4 loss against Manchester United Wednesday … Olave started and played 31 minutes before a left knee MCL sprain diminished his star turn, while Beckerman played the nd entire 45 minutes of the 2 half, acquitting himself well on the attack for MLS … RSL GK Nick Rimando was named Monday as an “inactive” 2011 All-Star, allowing him to remain with RSL and prepare for Columbus …

MLS REGULAR SEASON – RSL v COLUMBUS – SATURDAY, JULY 30, 2011 DEFENSE STILL DOMINATES: Led by GK Nick Rimando, the 2010 MLS Best XI center-back pairing of DF Nat Borchers and DF Jamison Olave and Captain Kyle Beckerman, the vaunted RSL defense has allowed one goal or fewer in 14 of its 18 MLS games this season, allowing a league-low 0.67 GAA and 12 goals allowed thus far, including three on PKs … Last year, RSL allowed just 20 goals in the 30-game regular season, setting a new standard in MLS annals and breaking the 2007 Houston Dynamo record of 23 GA … rd

ATTACK PICKING UP STEAM: Due to the onslaught

of injuries, suspension and Gold Cup duty, Real Salt Lake suffered a stretch of 11 contests from April through June in which its scored multiple goals in league play just once – a 2-0 win over Vancouver on June 4 … However, the Claretand-Cobalt have climbed their way out of the scoring funk in recent weeks, pouring in 12 goals across its last 4 league contests (3-1 W v TOR on June 25, a 3-3 T v NE on July 4, a 2-0 W v DAL on July 9 and a 4-0 W v SJ) … RSL is now back up to second in goals per game at 1.50, ranking behind only Seattle Sounders FC (1.45) and the New York Red Bulls (1.59) … RSL paced the league last season with 45 goals scored in its 30 contests (1.50) …

RIMANDO CLEAN AGAIN: The July 23 shutout th

against San Jose was RSL‟s 10 in league play this season and Nick Rimando‟s ninth of 2011, with the last clean-sheet coming on July 9 in a statement 2-0 win over visiting Dallas … Rimando trails only his opposite number from Dallas, Kevin Hartman (11), for the league lead in shutouts … The clean sheet also marked the first time Dallas has failed to score since the club hosted RSL back on May 22, when the two sides played to a scoreless draw … Rimando (83) and Hartman (103) are also 1-2 on the League‟s career shutout list … In addition, Rimando ranks nd among MLS‟ best this season with a 0.71 GAA (2 ), a rd th 409-minute shutout streak (3 ), 8 wins (T-4 ) and a 73.7 th save percentage (6 ) …

RSL “BRACING” FOR SUCCESS: With FW Alvaro Saborio‟s two-goal „brace‟ on July 23 v SJ, RSL has now seen 20 of its 30 all-time multi-goal performances occur at home in its 202-game MLS regular-season game, 12game CCL and 12-game Open Cup histories … The multith goal game was Saborio‟s 7 cross all competitions, ahead of Jeff Cunningham (5) and Javier Morales‟ tie with Robbie Findley with four “braces,” while Yura Movsisyan and Jason Kreis each had 2, ahead of Paulo Junior, Will Johnson, Kyle Beckerman, Atiba Harris, Chris Brown and Fabian Espíndola, who have each also scored 2 or more times in a game … When an RSL player scores 2 or more goals in a game, the team has posted a 21-3-4 all-time mark … Besides the 4-5 loss at Cruz Azul in CCL play and the 4-6 loss at Minnesota in Open Cup action, when was the lone MLS loss? … June 17, 2007, when Chris Brown‟s brace @LA was wasted in a 2-3 loss: G Player 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 3 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 3 2

YELLOW-CARD PERIL STILL A CONCERN: Now is

the time of the season when yellow-card caution accumulation is added to injuries and national team duty as reasons to force lineup shuffling, with MF Will Johnson becoming the first player of the RSL campaign to earn the league‟s “Good Behavior” incentive, reducing his total to 3 cautions … MF Kyle Beckerman now needs to go three consecutive MLS contests to earn a similar reduction … DF Chris Wingert, DF Robbie Russell and M/F Jean Alexandre are each TWO cautions away from suspension …

MLS REGULAR SEASON – RSL v COLUMBUS – SATURDAY, JULY 30, 2011 RSL REWIND – OPEN CUP RUNNETH OVER AT DALLAS: Real Salt Lake‟s attempt to win the 98th edition

of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup ended in the Quarterfinal Round back on July 12, as FC Dallas defeated the Claret-and-Cobalt 2-0 at Pizza Hut Park … The home side controlled the play nearly from the get-go, th using a free kick tally from DF Jair Benitez in the 18 minute to go ahead and an opportunistic chip of RSL netminder Kyle Reynish by DF Jackson Goncalves in the th 54 minute to pad the advantage … The loss continued Real Salt Lake‟s misery in the Metroplex, as the Claretand-Cobalt are now 0-10-1 all-time at FC Dallas across all competitions, the lone draw coming from a scoreless duel back on May 22 … The appearance in the U.S. Open Cup tournament proper was RSL‟s first since the 2006 season, with the loss moving its record in overall USOC play to 4-6-1 (including MLS qualifying rounds … 3-3-0 in tournament proper) …

FC DALLAS STREAK-SNAPPERS AGAIN: RSL‟s overall undefeated streak had reached seven games heading into last Tuesday‟s U.S. Open Cup affair at Pizza Hut Park, counting its 2-0 win over the visiting Wilmington Hammerheads in the Open Cup‟s Fourth Round back on June 28 … The Hoops had stopped a pair of lengthy unbeaten runs by RSL in the 2010 season, a 10-match stretch in regular season play and a 16-game run against all MLS opposition last October in the MLS Cup Playoffs (including regular season and Champions League play) … RSL has also returned the favor in the past year, a victory in regular season play last October snapping Dallas‟ MLSrecord-tying undefeated streak at 19 games, while the July 9 win at Rio Tinto Stadium marked just the second loss by FC Dallas in its previous 14 contests and snapped a threegame winning streak … RSL ADDS AGORSOR: Real Salt Lake announced

Thursday the signing of FW Chris Agorsor (A-GOR-sor) to the Utah side … Agorsor was available for selection for RSL Head Coach Jason Kreis when Real Salt Lake played host to the San Jose Earthquakes last week … Agorsor has been training with Real Salt Lake for the majority of the last month, this after the highly-touted striker was waived by the Philadelphia Union in early June … The 20-year-old native of suburban Baltimore (Severn, MD) has been under the American soccer community‟s microscope since his high school days, when his standout play for the Baltimore Bays and McDonogh School led to him earning such distinctive accolades as the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year, National Soccer Coaches Association of America Player of the Year and U.S. Soccer Development Academy U-17/18 Player of the Year honors …

ARNOUX A GO, TOO: Real Salt Lake will get more added depth up front for the second half of the season, as FW Cody Arnoux was also available for selection for the first time in 2011 for Saturday‟s contest against San Jose … The 23-year-old Arnoux has been a part of the Real Salt Lake camp since it won his MLS rights in a special player lottery back in February, but a lengthy rehab stint to come back from a knee injury suffered last November while training with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency squad and another non-related knee injury suffered last month has resulted in the former Wake Forest standout and Everton FC Reserves performer missing the first half of RSL‟s 2011 campaign. GIL STILL AT MILK CUP: RSL M/F Luis Gil was named to the U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team squad th that will take part in the 29 annual Milk Cup in Northern Ireland next week … While most of the squad departed on July 20, Gil stayed behind to be available for selection for RSL for last week‟s match vs. SJ, and joined the U.S. side in time for Monday‟s contest vs. Israel (a 2-0 win, Gil notching an assist) and Wednesday‟s match vs. Mexico (a rd 1-1 draw) … Gil and the USA play in Friday‟s 3 -place match vs Georgia … FABIAN A FORCE: FW Fabian Espíndola’s stoppage time goal on July 9 against FC Dallas pushed his teamhigh goal total in MLS play to six … The red-hot Argentine striker has now scored in back-to-back MLS games and found the back of the net five times in his last seven league appearances … After tacking on goals in RSL‟s last two contests – a late equalizer in the 3-3 draw with New England (July 4) and the added-time insurance tally in a 2-0 win vs. FC Dallas (July 9), Espíndola has equaled his career season-high total of six goals in just 12 contests, nearly halving the 22 games it took to accomplish the same total last season … KYLE HELPING OUT: Captain Kyle Beckerman notched his team-high fifth assist of the season last time out on July 23, his setup of Arturo Alvarez‟ cross to Jamison Olave putting the final touch on the dominating 40 win over San Jose … The assist broke a tie with MF Collen Warner in the category for the season lead and was Beckerman‟s fourth helper in as many games, following up on his pair of assists in RSL‟s 3-1 win over TOR on June 25 and the assist on July 9 v DAL … The five assists are the most for Beckerman in a singleseason since joining RSL midway through 2007, tied for his career-high in the category (5 w/ COL in 2003) … Beckerman‟s 13 assists with RSL place him alongside Robbie Findley for #3 all-time …

MLS REGULAR SEASON – RSL v COLUMBUS – SATURDAY, JULY 30, 2011 BORCHERS RETURNS AFTER 3’ EJECTION: Nat

Borchers‟ ejection in the 3‟ of the July 4 game was the earliest red card in RSL team history, five minutes ahead of the Jack Stewart ejection back on August 26, 2006, at Giants Stadium in NY … In that game, RSL made it to halftime tied 0-0, but allowed an Edson Buddle hat trick in nd a 21-minute span of the 2 half, with another three goals scored during the final 45 minutes … Borchers was forced to sit out of last Saturday‟s match against Dallas, but will return to eligibility for Saturday‟s contest at Vancover … The reigning MLS Best XI defender also suited up for RSL July 12 in Dallas, playing the full 90 minutes in RSL‟s 0-2 Open Cup defeat at Pizza Hut Park …

SEEING RED, BUT TO LITTLE ADVANTAGE:

Back on May 7, Real Salt Lake saw an opponent hit with multiple red cards for the third time in the team’s now 202-game MLS regular-season history, with the 65minute span with at least a one-man advantage the longest in club annals … For an incredible amount of 49 minutes, RSL enjoyed a TWO-MAN advantage over Chivas USA, playing 11-v9 in deadlocked fashion prior to Will Johnson’s th victory-clinching goal in the 87 minute … On only one nd prior occasion – Oct. 18, 2008, in the 2 -ever game at Rio Tinto Stadium – had RSL enjoyed a 2-man advantage over its opponent, but that was just for stoppage time of the team‟s 3-1 victory over FC Dallas, a game known primarily for Johnson‟s 2008 MLS Goal of the Year blast … th

Following last week‟s Bobby Burling ejection in the 60 minute v SJ, RSL opponents have now been subject to ejection on 26 occasions, giving the Claret-and-Cobalt a total of 454 minutes with a man-advantage … During those minutes, RSL has now seen a +13 goal difference, thanks to the 4-goal outburst last week …

OTHER RED CARD MISCELLANY:

In its history, RSL has never played with just nine men due to disciplinary issues, and has now scored SEVEN shorthanded goals (Jason Kreis, 7/4/05 v. NY; Chris Klein & Kreis, 9/16/06 v. DAL; a Chris Leitch own-goal on 7/3/09 v. SJ; Nelson Gonzalez late goal on 5/28/11 v. SEA; and the Johnson/Saborio goals Monday) … All-time, RSL now has been victim of 30 red cards, succumbing to a -9 goal difference in a total of 632 minutes playing a man down … Incredibly, SIX of those nine goals came in one game, the 0-6 loss @NY in August th 2006 when DF Jack Stewart was tossed in the 8 minute …

“THIS IS YOUR LIFE, JASON KREIS”: For RSL Head Coach Jason Kreis, the eight days from July 4-12, 2011 marked a walk down memory lane, starting with the July 4 post-game retirement of the iconic #9 jersey worn for RSL (and earlier for Dallas) by one of Major League Soccer‟s pioneers … Jason‟s family, friends and his legendary youth coach, Gary Williamson, who now calls North Texas home, were all on hand for the occasion … On Saturday, July 9, RSL defeated Kreis‟ former team, FC Dallas, 2-0 in a critical match for RSL in the Supporters Shield race, before heading to the MetroPlex for Tuesday‟s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game at Pizza Hut Park, which RSL dropped 0-2 … Kreis played nine seasons in Dallas, winning the MLS MVP Award in 1999, becoming the first American-born player to do (and one of only three in the League‟s first 15 years) … Both of Kreis‟ sons – Jake and Kason – were born in Dallas, where Jason scored 91 of his 108 career goals, and helped bring the Burn its lone title of any kind, the 1997 U.S. Open Cup … Kreis teammates on that Burn squad that hoisted the Dewar Trophy? – current RSL GM Garth Lagerwey and current RSL Assistant Coach Jeff Cassar …

ROAD OPTIMISM: Despite the late collapse at Columbus and the difficult start at Philadelphia, Real Salt Lake – once the worst road team in the history of MLS – has earned points in 15 of its last 18 road games – the equivalent of an entire season – dating back to May, 2010 … The road forays have been low-scoring, as RSL has outscored opponents 14-12 goals in that span – while Jason Kreis‟ team has dropped just six of its last 28 overall if you include CONCACAF and MLS Cup Playoff road matches (and one loss, April 5 at Saprissa, still clinched the series for RSL) … This recent advent of road success places the squad‟s alltime regular season road mark at 16-57-26 (.260; 89 GF th / 164 GA) heading into the 100 road contest in League play this Saturday at Vancouver … Since Kreis took over, RSL‟s MLS road mark is 12-33-21, with the four road wins in 2010 doubling the two earned in each of the 2007-09 seasons … Eight games down (2-2-4, 10 pts), 9 to go in 2011 … Major League Soccer has announced that the previously postponed contest between Real Salt Lake and Vancouver Whitecaps FC has been rescheduled for Thurs., Oct. 6 … Kickoff for the rescheduled affair is set for 7:30 p.m. MT and will take place at the soon-to-be new home of Whitecaps FC, the renovated BC Place in downtown Vancouver … The match, originally scheduled for July 16, was postponed after heavy rains made the temporary grass field installed at Whitecaps FC‟s current home of Empire Field unplayable …

MLS REGULAR SEASON – RSL v COLUMBUS – SATURDAY, JULY 30, 2011 TRAVEL TRAVAILS:

Real Salt Lake‟s rescheduled VAN date will result in more miles logged during a back half of the MLS season laden with away fixtures … Starting with the Aug. 13 date at Toronto, and factoring in the new Oct. 6 date north of the border, the Claret-andCobalt will play nine of its final 13 regular season contests – and five of the last seven – away from the friendly confines of Rio Tinto Stadium … Real Salt Lake‟s 2-2-3 away mark thus far makes the Utah side one of five across the 18-team league with at least a .500 record on the road in 2011 …

TWO-GOAL COMEBACKS: Real Salt Lake emerged

with a point on July 4 for the sixth time in club history after spotting the opposition a two-goal lead … Four of the six 2-goal comebacks have occurred at home, with three of the four happening as precursors to the Independence Day or Pioneer Day fireworks shows … This week‟s NE comeback was the second to occur on July 4, as former captain Jason Kreis tallied a 90‟ PK v NY to salvage a 2-2 draw … In last year‟s regular-season finale at rival Colorado, Saborio scored twice in second-half stoppage time to retain the Rocky Mountain Cup for holders RSL … The only win of the six came against Dallas … In 2009, RSL stormed back from a 0-2 deficit at halftime to visiting Dallas on Pioneer Day to score four in an incredible second half, which saw GK Nick Rimando stone a Jeff nd Cunningham PK and Yura Movsisyan notch a 2 -half brace … The list: 7/4/2005 v NY: T 2-2 RSL: Trembly (78) Kreis (90); MET: Razov (44) Magee (48) 10/8/2005 @ SJ: T 2-2 RSL: Novak (64) Williams (73); SJ: De Rosario (38) Nash (44) 05/05/2007 v NY: T 3-3 RSL: Klein (61) Cunningham (90) C. REVS’ HISTORIC TRIFECTA: According to the Elias

Sports Bureau, New England‟s trio of goals on July 4 marked the first time in 48 games that RSL had allowed more than two goals, the longest streak in MLS history … RSL had not conceded three or more goals to a league opponent since Sept. 26, 2009 in an 0-3 loss at Dallas … The previous time RSL allowed three goals at home to an MLS side? … A span of 56 regular-season games dating back to October 6, 2007, in a 2-3 loss to Chivas USA, that year‟s Western Conference #1 seed …

LATE DRAMA PART OF RSL DNA: MF Will Johnson‟s 87‟ game-winning goal vs. Chivas way back on th May 7 marked the 16 all-time go-ahead scored by RSL in the final 15 minutes of a regular-season MLS or CCL game … Two of the three RSL goals scored prior to that – Espindola‟s 93+ game-winner v COL and Morales‟ late equalizer at Monterrey – also meet the dramatic criteria … All-time lists for equalizers and GWG (active players in bold): RSL EQUALIZERS AFTER 75’ (18 total) 95+ ................... MAYDAY, MAYDAY: 12-MONTH RUN OF SUCCESS ON MULTIPLE FRONTS: Despite the pair of difficult 0-1 losses vs. Monterrey and at Portland in the final week of April, Real Salt Lake performed exceptionally in the 45 games played between May 1, 2010 and April 30, 2011, losing only six times in that stretch, the rough equivalent of a season-and-a-half …

Across MLS regular season, MLS Cup Playoff and CONCACAF Champions League games, Jason Kreis‟ team posted an impressive mark of 26-6-13 and outscored opponents 75-33 since May 1, 2010 … RSL would have earned 91 points in this stretch … The MLS equivalents: (reg.-season games only) TEAM Los Angeles Galaxy D.C. MLS REGULAR SEASON – RSL v COLUMBUS – SATURDAY, JULY 30, 2011 Prior to last April 30 at Portland, the lone MLS losses both came on the road at Dallas on July 17 and Oct. 30, sandwiched around the bizarre 4-5 loss at Cruz Azul … The fourth loss was the 1-2 decision at Saprissa which enabled RSL to advance to the CCL Final … RSL then dropped the 0-1 home game to Monterrey to snap the 37-game “all-competition” Rio Tinto Stadium streak …

TIME FOR A NEW STREAK: In Major League Soccer‟s 16-year history, there have been 25 double-digit unbeaten regular-season streaks for its teams … Real Salt Lake’s historic 2010 season saw the squad amass runs of both 10 and 14 games, with the mid-April win vs. Colorado extending the latter streak to 18 games without a loss, one of the top three streaks in MLS history, just one game shy of matching the League standard … A year ago, FC Dallas matched the Columbus Crew’s 19-game run by not losing for 4 ½ months, then saw it crash to a halt by dropping an 0-2 decision at Rio Tinto Stadium … Dallas had the last laugh, however, ousting RSL in the teams‟ first-round MLS Cup Playoff matchup with a 3-2 aggregate win in October … The list: ALL-TIME MLS TEAM UNDEFEATED STREAK LEADERS TEAM

MORALES A MARKED MAN IN MLS: Argentine playmaker Javier Morales has played 116 games for RSL (93 MLS regular-season, 8 playoff, 3 Open Cup, 12 CCL) … During that time, he has been the most-fouled player in the League (reg. season only), an indicator of the target on his back by opposing defenses … The list (from 8/29/07 to 5/7/11): Player Javier Morales - RSL Alejandro Moreno - CLB Eddie Gaven - CLB Robbie Rogers - CLB Guillermo Barros Schelotto - CLB

ALL-TIME RESULTS, WITHOUT JAVIER: Since the talismanic Argentine Javier Morales‟ arrival on the Wasatch Front, RSL has played 38 MLS regularseason/playoff, CCL or Open Cup games without its playmaker, posting a 16-11-14 overall mark … Head Coach Jason Kreis‟ team has gone 12-9-12 in MLS reg. season play, 0-0-1 Playoff, 3-0-0 in CONCACAF and 1-2-1 in Open Cup sans Javi … Since the beginning of the 2009 season, that record is 14-8-11, including a surprising ability to score 2+ goals in 16 of those 33 games without Javier … The breakdown: DATE 09/19/2007 09/22/2007 09/29/2007 10/06/2007 10/15/2007 10/20/2007

MLS REGULAR SEASON – RSL v COLUMBUS – SATURDAY, JULY 30, 2011 HOW DOES RSL GET BACK IN TO CCL?: RSL probably won‟t play another international side – exhibition or otherwise – until the 2012/13 CONCACAF tourney, which it could only qualify for by winning the 2011 MLS Supporters Shield crown or be a MLS Cup 2011 participant … RSL saw its other opportunity fall by the wayside this week after falling out of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup via a quarterfinal defeat at FC Dallas … Had RSL defeated Dallas in last year‟s MLS Cup Playoff series, or even had Los Angeles advanced in place of Dallas to MLS Cup – RSL would have qualified for this year‟s CONCACAF Champions League due to LA essentially owning “dual” slots (Supp. Shield / Cup participant) and RSL finishing #2 in last year‟s overall MLS table …

RSL’S INTERNATIONAL HISTORY: With the late April 0-1 loss to Monterrey in the 2010/11 CONCACAF Final, RSL is now 12-7-6 all-time in international contests, with a positive goal differential (43 goals for / 33 goals against) … In meaningful int‟l competition, RSL is now 6-3-3 (26 GF / 17 GA) … In the Jason Kreis era, RSL falls to 8-3-2 vs. visiting international squads (does NOT include Toronto FC league matches; however, DOES include CCL games vs Columbus) … REAL SALT LAKE ALL-TIME INT’L RESULTS (12-7-6 – 43 GF / 33 GA) Date June 8, 2005 August 24, 2005 July 19, 2006 August 12, 2006 April 18, 2007 June 7, 2007 July 21, 2007 July 24, 2007 July 9, 2008 July 23, 2008 Sept. 3, 2008 July 11, 2009 Oct. 7, 2009 June 19, 2010 August 18, 2010 August 25, 2010 Sept. 15, 2010 Sept. 22, 2010 Sept. 28, 2010 Oct. 19, 2010 Feb. 22, 2011 March 1, 2011 March 15, 2011 April 5, 2011 April 20, 2011 April 27, 2011

KREIS CONTRACT EXTENDED THRU 2013: On March 24, RSL President Bill Manning and GM Garth Lagerwey announced that the club has extended by two years the contract of current Head Coach Jason Kreis, keeping the youngest MLS Cup-winning manager in League history on the RSL sideline through the completion of the 2013 season … All-time, Kreis now owns a 54-4437 mark in MLS regular-season, playoff and CONCACAF Champions League play … Under Kreis‟ leadership, RSL became the first-ever MLS team (and one of just three non-Mexican teams) to win a CONCACAF group, posting a 4-1-1 mark and becoming the first-ever MLS side to advance CCL Final … The former striker‟s 2010 side was also the second-highestscoring team in CONCACAF‟s group stage, with 17 goals in six games (2.83 goals/game) … During MLS play in 2010, the following numbers established by RSL set or tied new single-season league standards:     

fewest goals allowed (20) overall goal differential (+25) total home points (37) fewest home losses (0) fewest home goals allowed (7)

In addition to those league benchmarks, last year‟s edition set franchise-high records in  wins (15)  goals (45)  scoring output (1.50/game)  points (56)  shutouts (15)  road points (19)  road goal differential (+1)

MLS REGULAR SEASON – RSL v COLUMBUS – SATURDAY, JULY 30, 2011 FORTRESS STOOD STRONG FOR FORTY-TWO: With RSL‟s 1-2 loss at home May 28 against Seattle, the team saw its MLS home unbeaten streak perish at 29 games … Just a month earlier on April 27, the 0-1 CCL loss to Monterrey (MEX) last week snapped the club’s overall home unbeaten run at 37 games across MLS, CCL and exhibition play … While those two losses in a one-month span dropped RSL to 5-1-0 at home in CONCACAF play, the team remains 24-1-11 in MLS regular season, 1-0-1 playoffs and 2-0-1 in international exhibitions … The aggregate scoreline in those games?: 92-26 … Form Guide: the 34-2-13 (all competitions) mark from June 6, 2009 – present: (CCL=red; Playoff = blue; friendly = green; Open Cup = underline): 2009: T W T W W W T W T T W W W 2010: T W W W W W W T W T W W W W W W T W W T 2011: W W W W L W T L W T W W T W W

RMC TIES: The June 6, 2009 Fox Soccer Channel

telecast went to multiple commercial breaks during Elder Gonzalez‟ lengthy “consecration” of the field, much to the disdain of current Rapids‟ coach Gary Smith … RSL‟s alltime home mark PRIOR to Elder Gonzalez' "consecration" – just 25-21-19 … AFTER Elder Gonzalez' June 6, 2009 prayer at Rio Tinto Stadium – now 34 wins, 2 losses, 13 ties …

Galaxy, despite the FIFA date and a Jazz home game;

Including the recent 29-game MLS unbeaten streak at Rio Tinto Stadium, RSL has dropped just 5 of its last 66 home games (42-5-19) across MLS regular season / playoff and CONCACAF / Open Cup play dating back to the start of 2008 … Prior to that, RSL was 15-19-13 on Utah soil in MLS competition, with a -5 goal differential (60 GF / 65 GA) from 2005-07 …

Best Comeback: 7/24/09 v DAL – Four second-half goals erase 0-2 halftime deficit; GK Nick Rimando saves Cunningham PK, Kreis ejected;
