“If RCPL doesn’t have what we’re looking for, chances are we don’t need it!” As soon as you enter the doors of RCPL, you feel it. “IT” is the all-encompassing rush of excitement, peaceful relaxation, curiosity, happiness and wonder – sadness too, I suppose, if that’s what you’re looking for. The sounds of little feet are a vivid reminder of the magic of youngsters learning to love books and reading – only the beginning of something that has carried us all through life. And, in this same amazing institution so many take for granted, adults are researching their existing industries or careers or gathering the information needed to launch a new business. Many people think of libraries as “books to be loaned for free.” Think, and take another look. There is a virtually unending well of resources, videos and downloadable music, from the sounds of 2000 B.C. to “whatever that stuff is” my children are desperately attempting to convince me is the “best music ever…” Yes, the web is a great tool - toy - resource, and, in my mind, RCPL is ALL the web has to offer TIMES 1,000 – all there for us to see, touch, hear and feel. Maybe, just maybe, RCPL IS the Internet!!! It wouldn’t surprise me. The library certainly is everything else, and more! Live and in living color – with a more than gracious staff at our fingertips, should we need assistance of any kind.
