When you’re with someone you care about who is going through a hard time or is expressing joy, it is a beautiful skill to hold space for them. This means that you choose to be totally present with that person. (Holding space is not something you offer everyone in need.) Your mind is still: You’re not overly involved. You’re not thinking about how to change or fix them. You’re not focused on your own emotions, which may be getting triggered. Instead, you’re looking at them with love, listening with your heart, and holding a positive, nonjudgmental space for this person to just be. Holding space is a gift that you have to offer. I often do this for my patients and with friends. You’re creating an aura of love that extends from you to them. Never underestimate the power of holding space for someone. What it Means to be a PARTNER

epression, severe anemia, low blood pressure, and chronic fatigue. These are some of the challenges

my wife has been facing over the last several years. At

times it seemed there might be a physical health concern that was the cause but after addressing everything we

could find on a physical level, her symptoms returned. It has been a confusing and frustrating experience. There were days that she did not know if she would make it

through. Her faith in the divine and the love of her family

has helped her make it through many dark times and face her darkest fears.

I know deep down that this is just another shift, that

my wife is completing a karmic cycle. At the end of a

karmic cycle we must complete our karma for that life.

This means that if there is any unresolved negative karma

it must be faced. We see this in older people at the end of their lives who experience many different kinds of illness. Usually these illnesses result in death. We always have a

choice when our karmic cycle ends to begin another karmic cycle in this life or carry it on to the afterlife. Many of us who are actively working on ourselves spiritually and

upshifting our consciousness may transcend our karma more quickly than the average person and experience several karmic cycles in one lifetime.

It is more honest to say that supporting a partner

through the shift is really about shifting yourself. Finding

the flexibility within to say it is okay to live differently and adapt. To take the things you hold sacred and hold them

up to the light and see the imperfections that make them real. Through it all I have learned to truly be grateful for

every day together, for every walk in the sunlight. It is not

about fixing every problem but holding hands together as you walk through the challenges of life.

oday, I reflected deeply on the way I am. I woke up

feeling such sadness about the way my body feels

sometimes with anxiety, physical weakness and fatigue. In Ayurveda, this is seen as an imbalance or excess

Vata. I began realizing that my mind was going fast & judging the experience of my body harshly.

The Gift of SADNESS

It’s not easy being an empathic person. It’s not easy

feeling so much all the time. I really work at grounding my energy, mind and body with daily meditation, yoga and self-care.

I sat in the sadness for most of that morning and I

asked God to help me move it through. Soon after, I felt the waves of love and comfort enter my body and heart. For

me, that is the Holy Spirit. For others, it’s an energy of love. I experienced the emotion of sadness as a voice

telling me that it was trying to teach me something: that

my inner child was having a tantrum and resistance to the experience of my body. The sadness was telling me that I was having a hard time accepting myself the way I am. The sadness wanted to change things - but couldn’t.

And so I took some deep breaths and cried, giving the

sadness a space to be heard. After a few hours, I felt the

veil lift a little bit. And I knew that it was important for me to witness this piece of me.

You see, sadness is not something new, it is some-

thing deep inside of me from a long time ago.

Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. Throughout my years of coaching clients – per-

Sacred Union; An Eternal Connection

could not keep our eyes or hands off each other. We were always together, sharing our every thought; our hopes and dreams for the future. We were very much in sync,

really didn’t care to wake up or not, because at that point

in time I was miserable. One of those nights I accidentally overdosed and died on my sofa. I remember Alex coming home, and trying to wake me up, but my soul had already left my body. I saw Alex and felt the pain that he felt for

losing me. It made me so sad to know that he would have

to raise our kids alone. The next thing I knew, I was waking

up as if it had all been a dream. But I knew better. From this point, I began having mystical experiences that I didn’t

understand, and that honestly made me feel a little insane. What I later learned were synchronicities were happening to me all the time: the radio and television seemed to be answering my questions; my kids would ask me random

questions about science, or biology, and I would just know the answer, even though I had no background in any of

those things. I began to feel energy on the tip of my finger whenever I would touch a plant or a flower. There was a

period where I went four nights without sleeping because I was getting all this information about me, my world, and the nature of reality – I later learned about other people getting similar types of “downloads.”

On one occasion I felt that I was ready to see my true

spiritual form, so I asked my higher self to show me, and that same night, I got my wish…

My journey began as I was flying over the ocean in my

“dreams.” I always fly over the ocean whenever I become lucid, but this time was different. I flew so high up, and

at such high speed, that I found myself in the darkness

of space. Above all this darkness and nothingness was a big ball of light. As I flew towards the light, I began to

I was recently called upon by a family of two col-

lege-aged women and their mom. They had three cats, a calico, named Stella, and a blind, gray tabby, Stevie, and the ladies had recently added an orange tabby kitten

named Oliver. They wanted everyone to get along, but

Stevie and Stella had always had spats, and now young Oliver was a complication.

Stevie told me he thought Stella was snotty; he was a

“Bro,” and he wanted to tackle her because it made him feel superior. He also said he’d love a safe space outdoors.

Stella wanted to be called beautiful, and claimed

her “Dad,” the father and husband in this family, was no longer paying her enough attention, because he loved

Stevie so much. It made her sad and hissy. The new kitten was an even further insult.

I did energy work and gave them new jobs: Stella as

a Gentle Leader; Stevie, the Gentleman; and Oliver, the

Wise Apprentice. The family got homework, which included praise and a new cat toy for Stevie.

I received this message a week later:

Everyone tells Stella how beautiful she is inside and out and even our dad calls her beautiful. He used to spoil her and give her a lot of praise, but then when we got Stevie, he stopped doing it. But now he is noticing her in a positive way again and she has become happier. Stevie has very little interest in following Stella around now. Stella actually gets a chance to get a smidge closer to him to just smell him and he doesn’t chase her. We tell him how brave and handsome he is every day and that he is a gentleman. You mentioned that Oliver would like to sleep on Stevie’s tummy, which was so true. Stevie just wasn’t having it until one day Stevie started cleaning Oliver while Oliver was on Stevie’s tummy. They are best buddies now. Oliver is very respectful of Stella’s need for quiet and space.
