“I was proud to have attended PVI back in the 90s, but it wasn’t until I returned as a parent that I have come to appreciate and better recognize the gift I was given many years ago.”

“I looked up the Italian word for ‘theatre’ (Teatro) and Pope Paul VI’s lay last name (Montini) and thought it was a nice combination of his support for the arts, while providing a beautiful name for the new theatre.”

On August 27, Bishop Burbidge cut the ceremonial ribbon to open Paul VI’s new campus. After the ribbon cutting and Mass, Bishop Burbidge blessed the theatre, stadium field, baseball park and the gym. During his homily, Bishop Burbidge encouraged students to “approach this year in joyful anticipation for the new gifts, the new blessings, the new opportunities that God has waiting for you.” ST. FROM THE

HEAD OF SCHOOL The St. Francis de Sales saying that every student who walks these halls can quote is, “Do ordinary things extraordinarily well.” So when it came time to consider a name for our comprehensive campaign, Building on Extraordinary was an easy decision. We constantly strive to build on what we have, in what we do, what we think, what we say, and what we believe. Our students have never had a problem going beyond the extraordinary — especially when times are difficult. This was not how we envisioned our first year on our new campus to be, much less the last few months in Fairfax. But the PVI community has been understanding, flexible, enthusiastic and positive in all they have done to make the best of this trying situation. And the community has done it with grace and wisdom! This Panther Tracks will include some in-house articles: moving from our old home to our new home, especially the “rock.” It was certainly heavier than when it was first planted in Fairfax — due to the too numerous to count layers of paint! Also included is our return to school with the 50/50 hybrid model and the expansion of the Theology Curriculum that will focus on the human person and a formative Christian anthropology. As we get ready to launch the public phase of our comprehensive campaign, we take time to publically thank and acknowledge our donors who believe in the difference we make and help us live our mission each and every day. To all in the PVI community, thank you for your time, talent and treasure. We make a difference because of you!

RETURN TO SCHOOL PVI Opens Campus in Hybrid Model

Student Leaders Step Up

ith most school systems remaining 100% virtual due to COVID-19, Paul VI opened for the 2020-21 school year five days a week, utilizing a combination of in-person and virtual learning, with 50% of students in the building and 50% livestreaming from home on an alternating block schedule. Students also had the option to elect for fulltime virtual attendance.

The Student Government packed kits with a PVI mask, hand sanitizer, and gloves for each student. Even without a Homecoming Dance or football game, SGA organized a Spirit Week with dress out days. Hunger Action Week was extended to two weeks and continued to support Food for Others, which faced recordbreaking demand for donations due to the pandemic

“Our administration worked all summer to adjust (and readjust) our plans to bring students safely back to campus. Our enhanced cleaning protocols, along with everyone wearing masks, washing hands, using hand sanitizer, practicing social distancing and avoiding coming to the building if sick, helped provide a healthy environment for students, staff, faculty and visitors,” shared Ginny Colwell, Head of School. 2

Continuing a Family Tradition New Faculty Reflection | Hanna Ashby ’15

y ties to St. Paul VI Catholic High School began well before I was even born. In 1983, Paul VI opened its doors in Fairfax and my grandmother, Peg Cahill, was a math teacher that very first year. Flash forward to 2020 – 38 school years later – I am a teacher during PVI’s very first year on the new campus in Loudoun. Even though my grandmother passed away two years ago, my connection to her has grown even more thanks to PVI. My time at PVI for my high school education was more than I could have ever asked for and it instilled lasting values that helped me grow into the person I am today. I was pushed academically to take AP classes that more than prepared me for college. My faith formation continued through opportunities to participate in the sacraments, as well as the ability to participate on two different mission trips. Despite being someone who does not seek the limelight, there were still countless opportunities to get involved in different groups across campus. One of the best opportunities My time at PVI for my high school education was was my ability to be a Peer more than I could have ever asked for Mentor in the Options program. and it instilled lasting values that helped me This gave me the confidence grow into the person I am today. to volunteer in my church’s Sunday school program for individuals with special needs and both of these experiences helped me decide to pursue becoming a special education teacher. My time at Paul VI helped shape me in more ways than I can count. As St. Francis de Sales said, the faculty and staff of Paul VI helped push me to “do ordinary things extraordinarily well.” As a result of my high school experience, I wanted nothing more than to come back and teach in the Options program. Even though the building is different from where I went to high school, Paul VI is made by its people and I feel more at home than ever to be back teaching in a school where I can live my Catholic faith to the fullest.

Hanna graduated from Paul VI in 2015 and went on to attend the University of Mary Washington where she received her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Master’s in Education.

Theology Department Introduces Formative Christian Anthropology Do We Know Who We Are? Our True Self is a Gift of God. Article by Father Stephen Schultz, Chaplain

n the heart of every teen are a couple of vital questions: Who am I? Who do I want to be? Where do I belong? Sometimes your children find it difficult to answer those questions. The pressure they feel to measure up to others and achieve is intense. They may think that they have to make something of themselves to be loveable. Their happiness and peace might depend, as it does for so many people, on believing that they have to have precisely what they want in order to be happy. They can come to know their true self in a relationship with Jesus, who loves us, longs for us, and awaits us. He can help them answer all those questions. Our community of PVI wants to help them know who they are in the light of God’s boundless love for them. They can clearly see their infinite dignity as children of God. They can understand the value of every person, since we are made by God, who is THE F E AT U RE S : love. We are created and redeemed • Faith and reason together as an by God who is love, for love. PVI Rocks!

The Rock journeys from Fairfax to Chantilly

As Paul VI moved to its new campus this summer, an iconic piece of PVI history came with them: the rock. Since the 2008-2009 school year, the rock has been a visual representation of school spirit, highlighting upcoming events and performances, celebrating Home victories and PVI’s awards,New and even 4231 Braddock Road sporting the occasional “prom-posal.”

IDI, John Moriarty and Associates, B&M Steel, and Midland Equipment used a loader, forklift and flatbed to move the rock from PVI’s Fairfax campus to its new home in Chantilly.

The IDI Group Companies of Arlington, who are redeveloping PVI’s Fairfax site into a mixed use community called Boulevard VI, moved the rock from Fairfax to PVI's new campus on July 30, 2020. “The Class of 2009 was instrumental in bringing the rock to PVI from a local quarry and it has been a fun way for students to express themselves for the past 10 years. We always knew that we wanted to bring the rock to our new campus and we are very thankful that IDI, John Moriarty and Associates, B&M Steel, and Midland Equipment made that possible. At 6.6 tons, it was no small task,” said Ginny Colwell, Head of School. “Similarly, moving an entire school to a new location during a global pandemic was a huge undertaking, but with planning, teamwork, faith, and of course social distancing, we are in our new home. Our beautiful new campus will ensure that PVI continues to offer an extraordinary college preparatory Catholic education for generations to come.”

Legacy Family Spotlights

The Neely family

Caroline (Melanson) Neely ’93, P ’24 and Doug Neely ’93, P ’24 Sending our children to PVI was always a hope of ours. We both know firsthand what a lifelong blessing it is to have the strong academic and spiritual foundation that a Paul VI education provides. We also recognize how special it is to be a part of the Paul VI community long after graduation with the lifelong friendships we have maintained with so many of our former classmates. Watching our four nieces and nephews also thrive during their time at PVI, demonstrated that while the uniforms and faces change, the school’s core values and culture are unchanged from when we were students. Our return to the community that we love has lived up to all our expectations. Seeing so many familiar faces in carpool line, re-engaging with old friends, and hearing William and Isabelle experience PVI for the first time in the classroom and on sports fields has been an incredible blessing to our entire family. We are really looking forward to watching them grow and playing an active role in the community again!

Jamie Saylor ’89, P ’23, ’24 We feel very strongly about the benefits and quality of in-person teaching. We knew that Paul VI and the Diocese were able to address this in a safe and student-oriented manner. My involvement with the PVI Finance Committee and the School Board has kept me very close to PVI for more than 15 years. Once we decided to look at options for high school, it was a natural conclusion to send my sons Ben and Luke to my alma mater. Deep down in my heart, I also know that my mom (Louise Saylor, PVI Bookstore Manager 1985-1999) found a divine way to push our family toward PVI for the kids.

PANTHER TRACKS Fall/Winter 2020

I have always felt very strongly that the PVI community and experience helped set me up for success in college and life. The community provided me with a great opportunity to balance athletics, academics and service. While from a bird’s eye view, I never felt like I really left PVI, returning with two students has really allowed us to engage on a granular level with the student experience. It’s great to see the incredible amount of progress that PVI has made for students over the years. And of course, the beautiful new campus is an amazing cherry on top of the whole experience.

Legacy Families Fun Facts • Legacy families represent alumni classes from 1986 – 2001. • We have four alumni couples currently sending their children to PVI. • As of 2020, PVI has welcomed over 100 legacy students. • In 2020-2021 we have 54 legacy students, led by the Class of 2024 with 19 legacies. • PVI currently has two sets of legacy student twins. • Six members of the Class of ’89 are current parents; ’92 and ’93 are also represented with 5 students each. • Four legacy parents work at PVI; one also coaches.

Caroline and Doug Neely are pictured attending a PVI Homecoming together.

• Two legacy parents are members of the Paul VI School Board.

All About Our Legacy Families

• We have two current parents from the first graduating class: Mary Ashooh Hamrick ’86 and Trish O’Neil Byrne ’86. Mary and her daughter Katherine ’20 are “PVI bookends” graduating in the first and last classes from the Fairfax campus. Trish and her daughter Mackenzie ’21 are both firsts; Trish graduated from the first class at Fairfax and Mackenzie will be a part of the first class to graduate from Loudoun.

We love to celebrate our alumni who choose to send their children to Paul VI. Members of this quickly growing and very special group are known as our legacy families.

• Our largest legacy family, Donna Prosser Thomas ’94 and Cliff Thomas, just welcomed a future Panther, making them a family of 12. Their first graduated in 2020 and their newest will graduate in 2038.

We officially began to recognize and welcome our legacy families in 2016. Since then, legacy grandparents, parents, and students have come together to meet, reconnect, introduce their growing families, and stay connected through our legacy program. As our number of legacy families grows, so does our appreciation for the special connection and valuable perspective they bring to the PVI community.

• Grandparents with the most legacy grandchildren is tied between Joseph and Lynne Bucaro and Al and Mary Melanson, each with six Panther grandchildren.

Continuing the Tradition

We are thrilled to watch our legacy families grow, in addition to witnessing our second-generation Panthers as they grow in grace and wisdom.

Looking Back, Paying it Forward

Woodley Family Reflection

t is truly hard to believe that it has been 20 years since we graduated from Paul VI. The sense of love and gratitude we feel for our time at PVI may be unique. Having met in high school, dated in high school, and subsequently married and had three children – there is little in our lives that we do not owe to our time at Paul VI. We recently stopped by the old Fairfax campus and took photos with our kids. We reminisced about teachers and classes, dance team practices, and runners left on base on the baseball field. And even though the campus has moved, the community of PVI continues in our lives and is what made it so special. We are fortunate to see many of our high school friends regularly and now be raising our families together. We have realized in our adult lives that many people are not able to say that. Our high school helped to create a unique bond that was formed through us, through our siblings, even through our parents, and now through our children.

We still attend basketball games with our kids whenever we get the opportunity, and everything comes full circle when we see many of the same dedicated teachers and staff from our time at school. The passion and long hours that these teachers devote is for something far greater than themselves, and perhaps we did not appreciate it enough during our time as students. Equally as important as the academic education are the lessons of compassion, empathy, and service to others provided by the PVI faculty, staff, and administration as they continue to foster the next generation of students. We have found solace reminiscing on memories made at PVI and have been able to do the occasional Zoom and outdoor dinner with our PVI friends that we now consider extended family. We look back on our time at PVI and acknowledge how blessed we were to be able to attend.

As alumni, we choose to “pay it forward” and assist by any means necessary to provide a similar experience for future classes. — KEVIN WOODLEY ’01 AND LAUREN CROOK WOODLEY ’01

ANNUAL REPORT

s we closed the doors at PVI Fairfax and opened our new home in Chantilly in a much unexpected way, I couldn’t help but think of The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. In so many ways, Fairfax – our starter home – reminded me of the tree. It gave us everything we needed when we needed it. Like the tree becoming a boat, it made spaces work in ways never intended. Like the laughter when the boy swings from its branches, it gave us a place to “be happy” and create memories together. In the end, it also gave to others. Desks, furniture, and supplies found new homes in our local Catholic schools. Some items crossed an ocean to make their way to schools in Haiti. When COVID hit and living rooms became classrooms, some pieces even ended up in the homes of our neighbors as people stopped by to ask for desks to set up their home classrooms. Most importantly, the foundation of Fairfax – the people – made their way to Chantilly for our new campus to blossom and grow. We closed one chapter of our story and started a new one in a truly glorious way, even in the midst of uncertainty. We owe that to the people, to you, who have supported the school, the students, the faculty, and our families. The 2019/2020 fiscal year gave us much to celebrate. • The Fund for Paul VI saw its most successful year to-date, raising more than $335,000 in unrestricted funds.

• Our Day of Giving in April generated over $98,000 with more than 400 donors. • We welcomed 339 first-time donors, and our Classes of 1987 and 2020 had the highest alumni participation. • Gifts ranged from $10 to $1M. • Leadership gifts and commitments were received for the Building on Extraordinary campaign and closed the fiscal year at $4M. When my office relocated to my dining room in March, my phone rang one afternoon. A familiar voice greeted me, a grandparent from a legacy family. He called to tell me that when his stimulus check arrived, he was sending it our way. Much like the tree in Silverstein’s story, his call gave me a sense of calm and confidence that not only would we weather this storm, but we would come out stronger than before because of the people who are the roots to our family tree, which serves as our foundation. My hope is that everyone sees that the PVI faculty, staff, students, and current families are also the tree for our extended community of alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, neighbors, and friends. Thank you for your vote of confidence this past year, for sharing your gifts and talents with us, and for selflessly answering our call to give, much like The Giving Tree.

While it is true that so much has changed, the things that truly make PVI great were there at the beginning. The emphasis on character, the value of learning, the willingness to try new things, the Salesian spirituality that is the foundation of the school culture: those things were there from the start and have only increased over the last several decades. I loved my time at PVI, but somehow I love it even more now, and as I look back, I’m able to appreciate how remarkable our experience was. How remarkable we, the Class of 1986, were. — Laura Worosz Malnight ’86

While I was attending a wedding, the priest focused his homily on the importance of small deeds. Small deeds are what keep life going. It is not about how often you perform them or the quantity. Rather it is about the quality. The quality is what means the most. This fall, PVI opened the doors to its students at the brand new location in Chantilly. While the zip code is different, the heart and soul of our beloved PVI remains. Now we have a chance to perform a small deed by giving back to the PVI community and continuing the legacy of the Class of 2006. — Amy Smith Malouf ’06

I was proud to have attended PVI back in the 90’s, but it wasn’t until I returned as a parent that I have come to appreciate and better recognize the gift I was given so many years ago. At our Thanksgiving table last year, we each shared what we were thankful for. My daughter Mia, a PVI sophomore, said, “I am thankful that I get to go to PVI.” The word “get” resonated with me. She understands this is a privilege, and she has become a part of something remarkable. — Meg Gallagher Brinker ’93, P ’23

ANNUAL REPORT

When we think back to our years at St. Paul VI Catholic High School, we have an abundance of memories to smile back on. However, by far our greatest blessing from our time at Paul VI was the friendship we formed with each other. It is a blessing to know that no matter where our lives take us, we will always be friends. We will always be part of the PVI community. — Timmy Newell ’16 and Kate Brockwell ’16

School Board Welcomes Kate Shanley P ’21 The School Board for St. Paul VI Catholic High School welcomed new member Kate Shanley to serve on the board this year. Kate’s twin children, Michael and Annie, attend Paul VI as a part of the Class of 2021. Kate works at St. Theresa Catholic School in Ashburn as the K-5 Science Lab Teacher and is the Co-Founder of TND Good, a charitable organization focused on supporting Catholic charities and education. “My husband Tom and I have found PVI to be a place where our children continue to grow in their education — and as Catholics — because of the administrators, teachers, coaches, Campus Ministry staff, SGA, and the new and old friends and families they are surrounded by. I look forward to continuing being a part of this amazing community as part of the board,” shares Kate.

As a member of the School Board, Angela pitched an idea in May of 2019 to form a Transitional Steering Committee. Their charge: to look at the opening of the new campus as an optimal time to elevate Paul VI in support of the strategic plan and the findings and recommendations from the recent accreditation. In August, the committee started planning, never knowing how relevant their work would be in the year to come. Over the course of eight months, the committee held ten 2-hour group meetings, participated in countless hours of ad-hoc discussions and research, prioritized topics to address from the accreditation, developed profiles of the PVI student, faculty, and organization, and hosted a six hour

SCHOOL NEWS

As a part of the Building on Extraordinary campaign, generous gifts have been made to name spaces on the new campus. These spaces have a special place in our history and future, and can serve to honor or memorialize someone in a thoughtful, permanent way. We are thrilled to share the stories of two unique, named spaces at the heart of our new home. Richard and Mary Fink, parents of four Paul VI students (Nicole, Chris, Rachele, Justine) generously provided a leadership gift to support the construction of the theatre for our school’s new home. The Fink family chose to offer a special opportunity to the Paul VI student and alumni community – to help select the name for this important, community-centric space on the new campus. A small committee reviewed the submissions from students and alumni and made the final selection - Teatro Montini. Alumna Erin Franconeri Regonini ’95, suggested the name.

“I looked up the Italian word for ’theatre’ (Teatro) and Pope Paul VI’s lay last name (Montini) and thought it was a nice combination of his support for the arts, while providing a beautiful name for the new theater. It will sound so nice for PVI students to perform at Teatro Montini!” — Erin Franconeri Regonini ’95 Mary Fink reflected on their family’s PVI experience. “Being a part of the Paul VI community for so many years, we have always been impressed not only with the school’s commitment to academic excellence, but its mission to instill deep moral values and a compassion for others in their students. We felt the theatre would give students a magnificent venue where they could unleash their creativity; to be a place of entertainment and enjoyment not only for the PVI family, but for the community as well.” “We are extremely grateful to the Finks for generously supporting the construction of our new campus, especially with their leadership gift to the performing arts,” said Ginny Colwell, Head of School. “It was also a mark of their generosity to open up the naming opportunity to our alumni and students. Erin has created a name that will certainly have a special place on our campus.”

Bel Alton Commons Bel Alton Commons is named for the hometown of Sydney E. Albrittain (1929-2012). Mr. Albrittain, along with his wife Gloria (1930-2018), was a longtime resident of Arlington, Virginia, a St. Agnes parishioner, and a generous philanthropic supporter of the Catholic Church and Arlington Diocese. Mr. Albrittain grew up in the southern Maryland town of Bel Alton, and he worked at the general store operated by his parents. It was there he learned humility, integrity, a strong work ethic, and respect for others. These principles guided his life as a Catholic, as a U.S. Army officer in the Korean War where he received a Silver Star for valor, and as a leader of the Dittmar Company, which built thousands of homes and apartments in Northern Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Albrittain had eight children: Nancy, Clare, Matthew, Chris, Mary, Michael, Syd, and Kerry. Their children have dedicated this area in honor of their parents.

An Artist’s Gift Paintings of the Saints Inspire in New Chapel Article by Natalie Askin ’22

VI’s new campus came with many beautiful donations that brought meaning, love, and community to our new home. One prominent donation is the collection of paintings of saints in the chapel by artist Betsy Farr. At the beginning of the year, Father Schultz, Chaplain, told students that an artist had painted six paintings for Mary Mother of the Church Chapel out of the kindness of her

Pope St. Paul VI: Most photos Farr found of the pope were black and white and he looked gruff and angry, so she changed it to reveal his beauty and kindness. In the painting, she included many elements such as “Humanae Vitae” in his hand, his emblem of the papacy, and the quote, “Mary remains ever the path that leads to Christ.” Farr included this quote because Paul VI had proclaimed Mary as the Mother of the Church.

heart, with four more to come. However, many students did not know a lot about the artist or the paintings themselves. Margaret Farr goes by Betsy (from her middle name Elizabeth), except on her artwork and documents. Farr is from Georgia, where she met her husband while studying Studio Art. She later switched her major to Art History to

St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane de Chantal, PVI’s patron saints: In addition to powerful quotes, Farr added elements on both sides of the painting: the book Introduction to the Devout Life that de Sales wrote, and a heart to represent de Chantal's devotion to the sacred heart.

learn more about the intellectual side and to learn from other artists’ art. “I think it’s the best decision I’ve ever made,” Farr shared.

immediate family members converted from Methodism to Catholicism.

Farr then went to NOVA and studied commercial art. In her 30s while in Greece, many wildflowers grew outside her home and Farr started painting the flowers. To continue painting plants, she built a garden to grow what she wanted to paint. Farr works in watercolor, which is quite impressive with how potent all of the colors are in her paintings.

Farr’s connection to PVI started when Father Schultz saw other paintings Farr had made. Despite not being of saints or people, Schultz saw the talent and beauty in these paintings and asked Farr to paint saints for the chapel. Farr accepted his request and went the extra mile by donating all the paintings to PVI, for which the school will be forever grateful.

After starting as a botanical artist, over time Farr added Madonnas to her painting collection. This was significant because Farr’s journey in life did not merely involve art, but her spiritual life as well. In 1992, Farr and three of her

Farr made these paintings larger than she normally does. “They’re large enough for you to feel surrounded by the saints…They’re really with you. That is a real blessing of Catholicism.”

St. Joan of Arc: Farr did not use a reference artwork, but rather information about her appearance during her trial. St. Joan of Arc wears chain mail to portray her living in the war, and a beautiful flower crown. Keeping the war theme, there is a shield, the Fleur de Lis symbol, a helmet, and a flag. The flag itself is taken from many different images and parts of banners and flags flown in the war with a picture of an angel worshiping Jesus.

St. Josephine Bakhita: Farr took inspiration from Bakhita’s holy card on her kitchen window. Farr included a number of elements, such as a Madonna, keys, shackles, and acacia trees. Bakhita grew up in Sudan, represented by the acacia trees, while the keys and restraints symbolize that Bakhita was an enslaved person. Farr choose to depict Bahkita smiling in the painting, so these last elements are what Farr used to symbolize the saint’s suffering. An Artist's Gift, continued page 44 ST. PAUL VI CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

ANNUAL REPORT

An Artist's Gift, continued from page 43 With all the talent displayed in the first six paintings, there is certainly going to be even more in the final four. There is not only meaning behind each painting, but behind the donations of the paintings themselves. Farr put a great deal of time, effort, and love into each one. For instance, the gold color she paints isn’t merely a gold paint, but she goes through a long process to make it look the way it does.

“I love doing it. I have found an outlet. I donate to the church, it’s what God’s given me…It’s what I can do. It’s a joy and a privilege.”

Despite any hard processes or outcomes, Farr loves what she does.

As students pray and attend Mass in the beautiful chapel for many years to come, they will be blessed to be able to look at the paintings and be reminded of those who were selfless in their lives and became saints – all thanks to the talented artist Betsy Farr, a modern day example of selflessness and generosity.

St. Therese of Lisieux and her parents, Sts. Zelie Guerin and Louis Martin: The family appears with roses included in the painting. “St. Therese is the one that rains roses on people. There are just so many people that have rose stories with St. Therese, including me,” Farr shared. Farr herself had been sitting in Mass after her mother passed away and after praying for a sign that her mother was okay, she had noticed the roses change colors.

St. Andrew Kim Targon: The elements in this painting are larger than they are on the other paintings. These elements include the palm, which represents Targon being a martyr. There is also a book, to symbolize him being well-educated. Also included are medallions and a hibiscus flower. He is wearing a Korean costume that Farr learned in her research was common for Korean men to wear on special occasions. Finally, his hat is see-through to allow sight of his bun.

SCHOOL NEWS

A MESSAGE FROM BISHOP BURBIDGE AND GINNY COLWELL Dear Friends of the St. Paul VI Catholic High School Community, We are honored to share the vision for our new school campus with you. Any architect will tell you that the success of the building depends on the foundation. So we know that this is a successful new home because our foundation is Christ Jesus. From its modest beginning in 1983 in an old school building, Paul VI has never wavered from its mission to provide an excellent Catholic education to young men and women by offering them the means to achieve spiritual, intellectual, personal, social, and physical development according to the teachings of the Gospel and our Catholic faith. Today, more than 8,000 proud alumni are making a difference in our world. They live as responsible, moral, service-oriented adults who strive to “grow in grace and wisdom.” This new campus — a 68-acre, state-of-the-art school — and our dedicated staff continue to provide a first-class, mission-centered, Catholic education for new generations of young people. Now is our time to express our gratitude and make an investment in the education of our current and future students. Every gift is important. We ask you to review the following with a renewed commitment to St. Paul VI Catholic High School. Please take note of the many aspects of this exciting campus and learn how we are able to provide many new opportunities in a wonderful setting. With Christ as our foundation — at the center of all that we do — we invite you to prayerfully consider how you can support this new campus and, in turn, invest in the education of our students. We hope that you, too, will feel compelled to join us in “Building on Extraordinary.” With deepest appreciation, Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge Bishop of Arlington

BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE AN AMBITIOUS $5M CAMPAIGN Our goal is ambitious: $5,000,000+. Our motivation is simple: to be able to offer access to an affordable Catholic education at Paul VI. The campaign ensures we can do just that. Financing the construction and operations for a 68-acre campus is no small feat. Building the financial stability of the school is critical; it's for the expected and for the unexpected. Most of all, it is for our PVI families.

TRANSFORMATIONAL AND INSPIRATIONAL BE A PART OF SOMETHING EXTRAORDINARY

Gifts to the Building on Extraordinary campaign are more than a financial commitment — they transform and inspire. Gifts open the door to a Paul VI education for families who desire it for their children. Many of these families sacrifice to make that happen. Together, we can lessen that burden. Gifts inspire others to say "count me in, too" and ensure the legacy of PVI for decades to come.

A BOLD YET HUMBLE ASK

Your commitment is a vote of confidence. And for that, we are grateful. We boldly, yet humbly, ask you to consider a gift to transform and inspire our community. Gifts and pledges can be made over 3 to 5 years. $25,000 pledge = $5,000/year for 5 years Gifts of $250,000 or more are afforded a naming opportunity, a personal and perpetual naming of a designated area. Example: The Smith Center for the Arts Gifts of $10,000 or more are offered recognition opportunities. Example: Station of the Cross, gift of the Smith Family Gifts may be made in honor or memory of someone. Gifts of $2,500 or more will be recognized on the Building on Extraordinary donor wall, prominently and permanently displayed on the new campus. All donors will be recognized in the Campaign Report and the Annual Report of Donors.

"I believe my voice matters and it is my obligation to serve, but what makes me passionate is seeing our students grow in service, community and faith."
