Beatlemania Magic takes audiences through all the eras of The Beatles

The New Individuals bring back biggest hits from music’s best decades Do you remember where you were the first time you heard the Beatles, the Beach Boys or the other great bands from the 50s, 60s and 70s? The New Individuals will take you back in time with high energy and impec-

cable sound to those great musical decades. You’ll want to get up and dance on Tuesday, July 1, in Barclay Square for two shows sponsored by Femco Machine, celebrating their 50 year anniversary! The band will perform

their first show from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and their second from 9 to 10 p.m. Focusing on the best songs with four-part harmonies performed perfectly, the New Individuals cover unique hits from the golden

age of rock as well as the biggest hits from Motown, the British Invasion, disco and more. Rick Smith from Pottsville is the drummer and a founding member of the band. With a great beat and heavy sound, Smith provides harmonizing vocals as well. Dave Stranko of Schuylkill Haven is the bass player and also a founding member. The amazing sound you hear is due to his skills as the band’s sound man. Fred Nebistinsky, also of Schuylkill Haven, has been

with the band for eight years and is the lead vocalist and lead guitarist. Nebistinsky is the “man of a thousand voices,” recreating everyone from Frankie Valli to John Lennon. Jim McGraw from Shenandoah joined the band four years ago and brings a technique that sounds as though he has four hands. He has to be seen to be believed. Put them all together and you’ll enjoy a high energy show that takes you back to the best of times.

Sadecky’s Puppets entertain with two new shows Sadecky’s Puppets will be entertaining children with shows on Wednesday, July 2, Thursday, July 3, and Friday, July 4 in Barclay Square.

Sadecky’s Puppets was founded by brothers Jay and Michael Sadecky who had an early interest in the art of puppetry. As children they developed and performed skits. Some homemade puppets were created in the mid 60s as a WEBELOS scouting project, and by 1970, the Sadeckys were doing shows for private parties and holiday events. The puppets were put away while the brothers pursued other interests until 1981, when Jay decided to revive the idea. He began writing

scripts and asked Michael to design and build a stage and construct some puppets for five seasonal productions. In 1982, they became full-time partners and for the next five years produced and rehearsed shows at home until acquiring an office and workshop in Tarentum in 1986. Their sister Kathy and additional puppeteers were hired for two different shows. Professional puppet makers and scenic artists began to aid in production design, and shortly thereafter the touring company was formed. The puppeteers now travel to 14 states performing over 500 shows a year.

The productions deal with many different topics including character education, storybook classics and holiday themes. Having children of their own, Jay and Michael recognize the importance of nurturing and character building. Written into each script are issues such as respect, manners, peer pressure and honesty. In this way, the brothers hope children will not only be entertained but will also adopt some valuable lessons for life. Two shows will be presented this year. “A Need to Read” depicts Spencer, a boy who doesn’t like to read but who soon discovers

a hidden talent his parents kept secret. He can physically enter the book of his choice and interact with the characters. He heads for the library and soon meets characters from “The Wizard of Oz,” “Huckleberry Finn” and “Charlotte’s Web.” His storybook adventures give him a whole new appreciation for reading. The second show is “New Friends.” Kate notices that her best friend Briana has been acting mean to some of the other kids in the neighborhood. Kate doesn’t want to participate in the meanness or stand by while it is going on, so she has a choice to make, tell her friend she needs to stop the bullying or find a new best friend. Both shows will be presented each day: New Friends on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. and A Need to Read from 3:15 to 4 p.m; A Need to Read on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. and New Friends from 2:15 to 3 p.m.; New Friends on Friday from noon to 12:45 p.m. and A Need to Read from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m.

Punxsy’s own Against The Grain sure to become favorites Against The Grain, a Punxsutawney-based band, takes to the stage in Barclay Square on Friday, July 4, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Their appearance is sponsored by Community First Bank. Festivalgoers will enjoy a variety of music spanning multiple genres. Together for a little over a year, band members bring a range of musical experience and talents to the table. Lead singers Brad Esposito and Megan Carlson pair up for unique versions of fan-favorite songs from hard rockers AC-DC and Led Zeppelin to grunge-alternative bands like Foo Fighters and Relient. Esposito also plays guitar. K. Seth Carlson demonstrates meticulous skill on lead and rhythm guitars and harmonies, while Tony Vega is a force to be reckoned with on bass guitar. Brian Rowan, also of “Down to the Wire,” completes the rock outfit with his phenomenal percussion, taking the band to a whole new level. Come out in support of this great local band and expect to come away a full-fledged fan.

Tim Krise sponsors Augeri and band

Journey former lead vocalist Steve Augeri and band will rock the park Journey former lead vocalist Steve Augeri will thrill the crowd on Independence Day, Friday, July 4, in Barclay Square. Sponsored by Tim Krise, Augeri and his band will play from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Augeri, best known as the lead vocalist for the rock group Journey from 1998 to 2006, draws on a range of diverse musical influences to deliver a unique take on the genre of melodic rock. Steve recorded three albums during his successful eight-year tenure that brought Journey back to the stage for multiple

world tours. For nearly a decade, he fronted these original arena rockers, debuting with a bang on the “Armageddon” movie soundtrack and racking up seven times platinum with their song “Remember Me.” Following this success, he co-wrote songs and recorded on three Journey CDs and was featured on the 2001 Journey DVD which is a favorite of fans worldwide. Prior to joining Journey, Augeri was a founding member of Tall Stories from their debut in 1992

until they disbanded in 1996, when he joined the group Tyketto on their album “Shine.” His first solo album in 2010 was followed by a world tour and featured a talented new group of musicians from the 1990s melodic rock group Valentine. Valentine was formed in 1986 by Craig Pullman, Adam Holland and Gerard Zappa and was signed by RCA, Columbia and Giant Records, releasing two albums during this era. Their first self-titled album lead to a U.S. tour as an opening act for Extreme and Mr. Big, and

they had songs included on the movie soundtrack of “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead.” After a resurgence at the UK’s Firefest concert in 2007, fans inspired the guys to release a third album called “Soul Salvation” in 2009. With Augeri as lead singer, Holland on lead guitar, Zappa on bass and Pullman on keyboards and vocals, Mike Morales

rounds out the group on drums. Augeri and the band tour together around the globe, and their legion of fans can attest to their exciting stage presence and musical talent. Don’t miss them performing hits like “Don’t Stop Believing,” “Separate Ways,” “Stoned in Love,” and “Be Good to Yourself.” And that’s just the beginning.

Rick Larrimore’s Tribute to Rod Stewart an exciting musical show R i c k L a r r i m o re , Tr i b u t e to Rod Stewart, brings the Groundhog Festival to a close on Saturday, July 5 with two shows, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and 9 to 10 p.m. His performances are co-sponsored by the Walston Club. Larrimore has been singing and playing drums professionally

since the age of 14, hitting the rock ‘n roll highway with many top national acts, always refining that raspy Rod Stewart vocal style. His uncanny interpretation of Stewart can mesmerize and fool even the most ardent Stewart fan, but it’s his physical resemblance that seals the deal. One of his recordings includes

a very early Rod-like ditty entitled “Sweet Loretta,” already a big hit at his live shows. Festivalgoers will hear such dead-on hits as “Forever Young,” “Maggie May,” “Have I Told You Lately?” and many more. Larrimore has Stewart’s musical c a r e e r, s t y l e a n d appearance down pat in an exciting and unique

stage show guaranteed to dazzle audiences. Larrimore has c r e a t e d m a j o r bu z z from Las Vegas to Rio de Janeiro with his enthusiastic and energetic performances. As Rick says, “I invite you to come see for yourself...and accept NO substitutes. Well, maybe one.”
