When Banfi ask us to create the label of the new Limited Edition of La Pettegola, it was immediately clear who should be the protagonist of the artwork: a little bird! We imagined him as the main character of a colorful and slightly psychedelic video game, like the ones we spent hours with as children. Our pettegola bird moves in a stylized Tuscan landscape, among hills, flowers, bunches of grapes, bicycles and incandescent sunsets, bringing lightheartedness and joy wherever she goes. Then, the fact that the label comes alive with augmented reality technology was a further stimulus to create a design full of life!”

LIMITED EDITION ART LABEL
Even in 2022 the Limited Edition of La Pettegola will be customized with an art label, designed this year by the famous couple of artists formed by the Van Orton twins. The most characteristic elements of the Tuscan countryside - gentle hills, bunches of grapes, sunsets - meet some specimens of “pettegola”, the Maremman bird that gives its name to the Vermentino signed by Banfi. The graphic style of the Van Orton, an unmistakable mix of fluorescent colors, pop shapes and geometries, transforms the label into a unique and vibrant work of art, to be savored with the eyes.
THE WINE
LA PETTEGOLA
Straw yellow Vermentino with greenish reflections. The nose expresses a beautiful aromatic scent: there are hints of citrus, white flowers and tropical fruit. On the palate it is intense and persistent, with a fresh and pleasantly fruity finish. A strong and drinkable wine, which is characterized by the deep bond with the territory where it is born, which is revealed in the glass thanks to the set of aromas and flavors that bring to mind the sunny days of the Tuscan coast.

The pursuit of beauty has been tied to the history of Banfi since its foundation, when the Mariani brothers fell in love with the rolling hills of Tuscany and the colors of this wonderful landscape and created the splendid estate in Montalcino. Charm and elegance are found today in the Banfi wines, in a balance which verges on a work of art. Banfi is drawn to design by esthetics, in an affiliation that is growing stronger by the year, thanks to the collaboration with artists and designers of international fame.
THE ARTISTS
VAN ORTON
The Van Orton, a twin artists born in 1983, live and work in Turin. Their aesthetic is strongly influenced by pop culture, in particular the graphics and the cinema of the 80s and 90s, which they associate with the style of the stained glass windows of Gothic churches, creating a unique and very recognizable style. After the first years as graphic designers in a communication agency, their reinterpretations of some icons of the 80’s cinema allow the Van Orton to get noticed quickly and collaborate in a few years with brands such as Marvel, Armani, Microsoft, Barilla, Mercedes-Benz, Warner-Bros, Ray-Ban and many others, as well as with musicians such as Bon Jovi, Pearl Jam, Jovanotti. Their works have been exhibited in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Milan.
