Paranormal Bits

Princess Diana ancestor Lady Winchcombe is haunting Kate Middleton family’s 4.7 million home A ghost related to Princess Diana is haunting the Duchess of Cambridge’s parents, the Sunday People has revealed. At midnight, the spectre of Lady Frances Winchombe is said to ride with four headless coachmen past Michael and Carole Middletons’ new home, a £4.7 million manor, in Bucklebury, Berks. The restless banshee, who died of a broken heart after her husband cheated on her, ended her life in the area.

Big cigarufo over airport Dusseldorf ? This UFO video pretty much debunks itself when you consider the details. The UFO is filmed traveling just 1/3 the distance of the screen until it’s out of range and the camera makes no effort to track it. It’s clearly a banner being pulled by a plane that is conveinently off-screen. While it’s easy to fake a UFO sighting, it’s also pretty easy to fall victim to mistaken identity too. Mysterious Universe warns Never Let Lenticular Clouds Ruin Your UFO Sighting because they can do a damned good imitation of UFOs to the inexperienced or over-eager UFO spotter. Brain Activity Found After Brain Death LA Times

Councillor Wynne Frankum said: “The story of Lady Winchcombe is well known around here. The ghost is a chariot drawn by six black horses driven by headless postillions and a lady clad in white.” Michael, 63, and Carole, 57, invited expectant parents William, 30, and Kate, 31, to the Grade II listed Georgian house over the Christmas holidays. And residents report strange noises coming from Lady Winchcombe’s coach, said to rattle along the lane there.

A University of Montreal scientific study discovered brain activity--”state beyond the end of cortical activity “--in the brains of cats who were under deep anesthesia, evidence that when paired with other studies and incidents reported by doctors seems to show that there is scientific basis for the life after death theory. Even pragmatic Stephen Hawking believes that human consciousness can survive death, although he thinks that it would be more along the lines of a “computer program”, and that it might be feasible to one day have the ability to copy the brain like a computer file therefore giving the person a sort of immortality. http://www.anomalist.com/ Autumn 2013

Preparing for readings 8 Psychic Guidepost

S

ince the dawn of time people have sought out wisdom or truths from oracles, soothsayers, tarot readers and shamans to sort out problems or gain insights. In today’s world, not much has changed. In fact, since the beginning of the Internet the psychic business has boomed. People from all over the world seek out the advice of psychics online or seek out the village reader or shaman. As a reader and spiritual intuitive for over 40 years, I’ve developed several small habits in order to start my day and give psychic insights to clients from all over the world. There are different ways to prepare for a reading. But the first thing one must do is pray and meditate. Pray for the clients you will receive that day. Send love and positive energy their way. Pray that you help and enlighten them. That you bring them to a higher awareness and another level of wisdom. Pray that God/Goddess gives you the knowledge and strengthens your sixth sense so that you may be a light bearer to those who feel they are in the dark. Meditation is all about “listening” to spirit or the space between the lines. Take early morning meditation for at least 20 minutes. Still your mind and be in the present moment, because in the present moment is where all the answers come. A daily practice of prayer and meditation is necessary whether you do readings online in chat rooms or via webcams or if you do readings face-to-face. They say that cleanliness is next to Godliness. There may be some truth to that when it comes to doing online readings. I notice I do much better when my work area is cleared. A cleared desk is a clear mind and you purify with the act of clearing your

Pray Pray for the people who seek a reading from you.

space. If there is a pile of papers, dust, and a halfeaten sandwich on your desk then chances of doing a good clear reading are slim. I’ve noticed that in my case. I have known of others who cannot work without the clutter and do well. But there is a lot to be said when cleaning off a desk on a daily basis, to me the act of cleaning, symbolizes clarity and puts me in the present moment. Even if one is clearing off the keyboard after each online reading, it helps give the psychic clarity, and prepares you for the next client. If you are doing readings face-to face, then clearing out the energy between clients is a practice many professional psychics do. This habit goes back 100s of years and it’s a good one. It provides the energy necessary to do a quality reading for the next client. If you use tools such as crystal balls, tarot cards, or pendulums, be sure to wipe them down a bit after each reading and at the end of the day wrap them up and put them away in a wooden box. Wood symbolizes the beginning of new life / or beginnings, expansion, and spring time. Wood represents strength and spreads its positive energies like the branches of trees stretching out into the sunshine for growth. It is a wonderful element to energize your divination tools. These are small habits to get into on a daily. The main thing always is to send your client positive energies, empower her/him let them see who they really are and help them to connect to their divine self so they may see their way through the darkness.

You are the Catalyst, not the Martyr

oulmates are brought together to trigger the issues of one another. This is with the intention, the HOPE, that each person will then WORK on their own issues. Only when this work is done can the couple attempt to be together in a traditional relationship. If this work is NOT done then any efforts to be together will be met with resistance, pain, drama and disappointment. There is often a cycle in soul connections. Two people come together – the issues are triggered, they are torn apart – often because one person runs away, and they are each left to work through all the issues that were brought to the surface as a result of this connection and the subsequent parting. There will then often follow instances of reconnection – not for a grand reunion, but for an opportunity to face one another and see how much growth (if any) each person has made. The ideal scenario here would of course be that both parties have recognised what needs to change and how they need to grow, acknowledged the issues that they need to work on for themselves, and both will have evolved enough to walk the last part of the journey together as a loving couple. But what happens when this is not the case? What happens when one person has faced their demons, worked on their issues and grown immensely as a result of this, only to find that when that reconnection takes place the other person appears to have been stagnant, stubborn, still ego driven and still playing out the same routine?

10 Psychic Guidepost

Well there are two wonderful things that happen here! The first is that you suddenly realise just how far you have come! It can feel like you just sat the longest exam of your life, the results came through, and you passed with flying colours! The reasons for the connection, the pain, the heartache and the drama are suddenly apparent and a peaceful wave of acceptance and understanding fills your heart and mind. The second thing to happen is that you finally see the other person as they truly are – the lack of growth on their part becomes painfully obvious and you suddenly realise that now you have paid such a high emotional price to find yourself in this new energy, that you have NO

DESIRE to step back into the energy of someone who just refuses to grow. They were the catalyst for your growth and you had the courage to rise to the challenge! You were the catalyst for their growth and they hid under a rock and refused to look within. The Universe will NOT force you to remain in a connection where one party refuses to grow. You suddenly realise that you are NOT destined to remain emotionally tied to someone who is stuck in a pattern of dysfunction. You are FREE. You can now look at this person with a feeling of absolute unconditional love – a love where you recognise them for who, what and where they are, and understand that if they refuse to walk by your side, then you can, you MUST, walk alone. There is a path ahead of you now and it is filled with hope, love, wonder and joy. The soulmate cracked open the shell within you that was holding you back from the wonder of your own journey. Be thankful. Let them go. Wish them well. You are NOT required to relive the horror with them. It is THEIR journey now. You are the catalyst not the martyr.

Psychic News

d n a s s e n i s u B c i h c y s P The s r e y a l P t s it’s Bigge The business of psychic readings have come a long way since the gypsy first started reading palms and cards to various seekers in the village. Today the online opportunities for psychic readings seem to be endless. Some people have a gift for giving others intuitive advice or helping them solve problems, by using divination methods. There are several online psychic chats and phone services where you can chat with any psychic in the world. If you know a bit about tarot cards, or are just naturally intuitive, this could be the business for you! This works well because psychics can present themselves to people from all over the world so it’s a very popular way to make money, particularly if you dabble in the art of divination or metaphysics.

LivePerson (Kasamba.com) is a publically traded company that runs an “expert” site. If you have advice to offer you can list yourself on the site, name your price and start getting clients. It can take anywhere from 2-3 years to make a comfortable living. But if you are a fast typer or good on the phone, you can start making extra money right away. They currently charge $50 to list someone in the spirituality section or (psychic) part of the site. But you normally make that money back in the first month. Their commission is approximately 49%. You can reach them a www.kasamba.com or http:// www.liveperson.com/experts - you can opt for a payment by check or Paypal. Paypal is the best way to go as you tend to get your money faster.

Here is just a short list of companies that offer positions for professional psychic readers. These companies are paid via commissions, you set your own price and they take anywhere from 30% to 50% of your money, which works well if you don’t want to deal with billing or marketing yourself online. The most talented psychics earn anywhere from 5k to 10k a month, take home!

Keen.com has been around longer than (Kasamba/ LivePerson. It is a personal advisor site and helps you connect privately on the phone for a perminute rate. This site normally handles phone calls, but they recently added a chat option to gain a larger share of the market. They do not deal with PayPal so the best way to receive your money is the direct deposit option. Or wait for a check.

12 Psychic Guidepost

You can still make 2k to 6k on the site, it just takes longer to build your business there. Sign up is free at www.keen.com Bitwine is a relatively new kid on the block. They offer chat and phone, however it is a prominently chat platform. They take a 30 to 33% commission. They usually invoice you for their commission rather than take it out upfront as the other companies do. The customer is offered three free minutes and deposits funds in PayPal. The reader is invoiced once or twice a month depending on how much money was earned. Oranum is an up and coming site using webcam so that clients can see the psychic reader. Readers are required to look presentable and to work scheduled hours a week. Commission at Oranum is 30 to 40 percent. You begin reading for very low rates and readers are required to give free time up front. If the client likes the reader they hire and go to a private chat. The one good thing about this format is that the customer actually sees the reader and can interact with them. The downside of this site is that it doesn’t provide as much privacy as a chat format would. One can see what is going on in the background and if you are being watched on webcam you aren’t always 100 percent. Some readers have been caught eating or laughing uncontrollably or missing from there chairs. A client could contact a reader and find an empty chair if the reader isn’t on top of things. So this format is not exactly new, but it looks like it’s been catching on. StarzPsychics.com - this site offers their readers a straight $1 per minute and is owned by an individual. The site offers chat and voice chat or email. It also offers a variety of metaphysical products from it’s Emporium where dozens of psychics have listed hand crafted items or specialty readings. Psychic.biz: This new site offers video readings, phone and email readings. It’s free to sign up like the rest of the sites. You can set your own hours and pay. It starting to pick up with phone calls and email readings. The video software works great but we haven’t seen that much of a demand for it. People seem to like the anonymity of chat or phone so it still remains a popular format. PsychicAccess.com: This company is perhaps one of the most ethical out there. They are impressive because they do not allow any scamming or spells or voodoo magic that can become scam offers. They give free minutes upfront in chat and also offer phone readings. Psychics can sign up for free. You receive 60% of the net, the house receives 40%

Transparent Tarot cards

H

ow revolutionary is the Transparent Tarot designed by Emily Carding?

The Transparent Tarot designed by Emily Carding takes the original images in the tarot to a completely different realm. The Transparent Tarot is basic yet striking, the minimalistic characters of the Major Arcana appear in simple and minimal form the Minor Arcana are silhouetted figures. The cards are transparent plastic and designed so that they can layer and overlap with each other giving more depth and meaning allowing the images to interrelate visually with each other building symbolic connections which can be interpreted by the reader. The cards are dealt out onto a white background the cards are combined to create new images this concept has never been tried before. The basic images capture the heart of their Universal meanings, in their simplicity and uncomplicated design. This opens them up to wider possibilities of interpretation. For the beginner the Transparent tarot offers a way to learn tarot through intuition. For the

more advanced user even expert the Transparent tarot offers a way to use tarot in a new fresh innovative manner. Not only are the Transparent tarot fun and exciting to use they also open up other ways in which to use them for example in meditation and brainstorming of ideas. I personally feel the Transparent tarot fun and exciting to use, the cards are slightly wider than the typical Rider Waite Deck but not as long. I have been asked on many occasions how do you read with a transparent deck? The answer is it is easy! Because the cards are transparent it is better to read them on a white surface, the deck does come with a white cloth for this purpose. In order to give you a better idea of what it is like to use these cards please read my daily and weekly transparent cards there are pictures to accompany the blog posts. You will notice that the weekly message shows the cards layered on-top of each other and how this is then interpreted to tell a story combined into one. The fun and exciting transparent tarot allows your

imagination and intuition to flow, the symbolisms flow when the cards are layered on each other. The Major Arcana, Minor Arcana and court cards all mix amazingly well. Great care was taken with the geometry of the drawings so that the combinations of layered cards will be a visual feast, regardless of whether the stack includes majors, courts, or minors this creates a multilayered narrative of incredible richness and depth. Reversals take the deck to a whole new depth of meaning also, in that a card may not only be reversed from top to bottom in shuffling, but may end up reversed from right to left.

History of Astrology

A

strology has a history throughout many places in the world. There is evident of it being used in Britain, China, India and the Middle East.

Astrology as we know it actually began it three major areas of the world and they are the Mesopotamian region which then got assimilated around 6th century B.C.E. by the Greeks. When the Greeks domesticated astrology and proceeded to bring order and logic to the Babylonian craft of sky watching, they created the horoscope as a way of mapping the sky. Astrologers then stopped looking at the sky and proceed to look only at the maps that we now refer to as charts. At the very same time there was two other astrological

systems going in both China and India, both which is still used today. However, their systems are very different to one commonly now used in the Western World. The astrological system now used is called Tropical astrology and the one in India is referred to Vedic. There are major differences between the two in their systems. Neither is right or wrong but just different. Also into this mix, there is evident to show that there was an ongoing astrological system throughout the Mayan kingdoms of South America. Also accordingly to the astronomer Julius Stall (1917 – 1986), astrology had a widespread use among the Native American Indians. Now back to the history of Tropical Astrology which sometimes referred to as Western Astrology. It began in

the Mesopotamian region of what are now Iran, Iraq, and the Middle Eastern Countries of Israel and Jordan. This area is actually part of Asia Minor. Therefore it is not actually originated in Europe at all. For this reason I will refer to it as Tropical Astrology. In ancient times the Babylonian and Canaan priests watched the heavenly sky and plodded the movement of the planets against a pattern in the sky. This pattern is referred as Fixed Star and the word planet is actually Greek meaning wandering star. At the same time Indian astrology we also up in their towers, which you can visit today if you happen to find yourself the Northern Indian state of Rajasthan.

Autumn 2013

19

History of astrology continued... The ancient sky-watchers, the priests of the Assyro-Babylonian culture were behind our mapping and naming of the star-fields the signs of the zodiac. These names do actually come from the Fixed Stars up in the sky. They are the signs from Aries through to Pisces. However, firstly the ancient calendars were lunar, rather than the solar one we use today. There is a widespread early development of tabulation there out the Mesopotamian region but they had the Moon was primary important and referred to these tabulations as Lunar Mansions. These were known in Arabic as al-manazil, in India as nakastras, in Hebrew as mazzaloth and in China as hsiu. Around 6th century B.C.E. Greek civilization assimilated Mesopotamian, Persian and Egyptian astrology and mythology and they eventually brought all this up into Europe to find the astrology we use today. However with certain uses of astrology we still are using parts of Egyptian, Arabic and Hebrew astrology. This is when we do what is called Election Astrology, which is when you choose the best time and date to have a wedding, open a shop or start a long distance journey etc. One can even use Election Astrology as when is the best time to have a facial, but perhaps that is carry things a little too far. Healing Teas

f you are trying to improve your health or drop a few pounds, think beyond superfoods and supplements, because this “super-drink” deserves your attention. The things we chew are not the only dietary factors that contribute to weight management, disease fighting, energy boosting and stress reducing. Studies show that the components found in such a small little teabag can do wonders for your health. Drink up - your overall health is about to get a lot better!

BEST FOR SKIN: WHITE White tea — which is made from only the delicate buds of the tea plant — has the highest levels of antioxidants, which protect against harmful free radicals. Researchers from Kingston University in Surrey found white tea also had high amounts of substances that protect elastin and collagen, proteins in our skin that maintain skin elasticity. BEST FOR ENERGY: ROOIBOS THE tannin in standard black tea can reduce iron absorption from foods, so anaemia sufferers are advised not to drink it with meals. But South African rooibos (close in taste to black tea) can be drunk safely as it doesn’t impair iron uptake as much as traditional tea. BEST FOR ALL-ROUND HEALTH: BLACK Black tea — our traditional cuppa — is a rich source of manganese and fluoride, which help to keep bones strong. Drinking four cups of tea a day cuts the risk of a heart attack and, with milk added, provides a fifth of your daily calcium requirement. Black tea might also be best if you’re tense — it cuts levels of the stress hormone cortisol, a study at University College London found. BEST FOR WEIGHT CONTROL: GREEN Tokyo researchers found that people given a greentea extract lost body fat and had reduced cholesterol. You’d need five to six cups a day to benefit, and the effect might be similar to eating one fewer biscuit a day. It is thought to be due to the mix of catechins, specifically epigallocatechin gallate, which may raise your metabolism.

Native American Tales of Mermaids

N

ative American tribes have been telling stories about Mermaids since time began.

From the Halfway People of the Mi’kmaq and the Lampeqinuwok of the Maliseet, to the story of Ne Hwas told by the the Passamaquoddy and the story of the first merman told by the Potawatomi, there is no shortage of tales about the half human creatures. The Mi’kmaq tell the tale of Lone Bird who stumbles upon a cove of five beautiful maidens swimming and playing in the water: “They were lovely, it is true, but they looked nothing like human maidens, for humans do not have pale skin, spotted with silvery scales. They do not dress their hair with strands of seaweed. And though maidens adorn themselves with necklaces of bright shells, humans have legs. Their bodies do not end in long fish tails,” from the bookSpirits, Fairies, and Merpeople: Native Stories of Other Worlds by C.J. Taylor.

“They were all slimy; they grew to be snakes from below the waist. After sinking a few times in this strange slime they became very handsome, with long black hair and large, bright black eyes, with silver bands on their neck and arms,” fromThe Algonquin Legends of New England, by Charles G. Leland. The Potawatomi story “The Adventures of Raccoon” recounts a troublemaker raccoon and how he tricks villagers, crawfish and his brother Wolf. In the end of the story, raccoon’s last trick is to drown Wolf: “When he was within reach, Raccoon sprang upon him and ducked him until he was drowned. Because of this there is a two-legged animal

here is also a Sekani legend about a man who married a mermaid. He captured her by tying her to a tree by her long hair. During her first winter on land she begged him to let her return to the water. During her second winter her husband wasn’t able to kill much game so he let her return to the water. She brought him and their son food and returned to him.

Lampeqinuwok are water sprites from Maliseet and Passamaquoddy stories. The websiteNative-Languages. orgreports that in some stories they take human form, and in others they have fish tails, but in most stories they fall into the power of anybody who can steal their magical garments. The Passamaquoddy tell the story of He Nwas, the mermaid. It’s about two girls who defy their mother by swimming where they weren’t supposed to. The girls turn into mermaids and instead of playing on the shore, they tow their parent’s canoe for them.

“Mermaids” by Jean Francis Aubertin, circa 1920 in the water to this day, which the Potawatomi call a merman. He is half fish and half human,” fromThe Mascoutens or Prairie Potawatomi Indians, Part III, Mythology and Folklore. There is also a Sekani legend about a man who married a mermaid. He captured her by tying her to a tree by her long hair. During her first winter on land she begged him to let her return to the water. During her second winter her husband wasn’t able to kill much game so he let her return to the water. She brought him and their son food and returned to him. “After this the mermaid lived very happily with her husband for many years and bore him several children,” the legend says. “Very

reluctantly he consented and dug a hole through the ice for her. She dived into the water but returned immediately because her children were unable to follow her. One after another she rubbed their mouths with water and told them to dive in after her. Then they all went down into the water and never returned.” Another legend called “The Lost Boy” comes from the Lenape. It tells the story of three boys crossing a normally calm, shallow stream. One of the boys was lost when a wave came rushing at them. The boys’ parents went to a mystic man to find their lost son. The man told them their son was alive and had been taken by a woman. The mystic man told them they could see their son at sunrise if they camped on the bank of the great river.

“Before the hour, a great crowd gathered at the appointed place, and the mysterious deep began to roll and throw forth great whirlpools. And thunder or rumbling sounds burst into the air,” fromThe White Deer and Other Stories Told By The Lenapeedited by John Bierhorst. “At sunrise, behold, they saw on the waves of the great river the missing boy. At his side was a beautiful humanlike personage, said to be a mermaid.” An Ottawa tale tells the love story of Menanna and Piskaret. Menanna showed up at the door of an Ottawa warrior, covered in scales with twin fishtails where her legs should be. She told him she had once been mortal but longed to roam the heavens. The Great Spirit granted her wish, but she

grew tired of wandering and was allowed to return to earth, though in a form “neither mortal nor immortal, neither man nor beast— the mermaid shape in which the warrior beheld her. In this guise she became the adopted daughter of the Spirits of the Flood.” The warrior took her in and the scales began to fall away, but she wouldn’t regain her original human form until she found love. When she did find love, it was with Piskaret, the son of an enemy tribe—the Adirondacks, who refused their love. Menanna was so sad she left the Ottawas and rejoined the Spirits of the Flood, who vowed vengeance on the Adirondacks. “The Spirits of the Flood attacked the canoes of the Adirondacks, leaving few of the tribe alive. Piskaret was caught and shielded in the arms of Menanna, who drew him from his canoe and sank with him beneath the waters,” reads Sea Enchantress, The Tale of the Mermaid and her Kin by Gwen Benwell and Sir Arthur Waugh. Native Americans aren’t the only cultures that have numerous legends of the fishtailed creatures; cultures across the continent speak of mermaids. The fantastical creatures seem to be universally imagined in similar fashion.

efore anyone dreamed of a mermaid, the ”merman” was front and center. The Babylonian god Oannes predates the Syrian mermaid Atargatis by several thousand years. Apparently he had both a fish body and a human body. His human form was beneath his fish form, which allowed him to live among men, as well as in the sea. In some of the legends of the Pacific Islands, it is said that human beings are descended from both mermaids and mermen. It seems somewhere back in time, their tails somehow dropped off, and people were magically able to walk on land. A good example of this is the creator god Vatea, who was usually depicted as being halfhuman and half-fish. Aquamarine is the gemstone of the sea, and it’s supposed to be a cherished object for mermaids. In addition to being treasure, people once believed this gemstone came from the tears of mermaids, and it used to be thought had the power to protect sailors when they were at sea, or when they fell into the water. Hans Christian Andersen based the mermaids in his tale, on Scandinavian mermaids called the Havfine. These northern merfolk were able to live in both freshwater and saltwater. They had the ability to foretell the future. If a human being ever caught sight of one, it was considered a bad omen.

A theory of Psychic Source

O

ne of my favorite Vedic hymns is the Absolute mantra which can be translated this way:

That is Absolute (Divine), this is Absolute (Divine), Absolute (Divine) rises out of Absolute (Divine). If Absolute (Divine) is taken out of Absolute (Divine), Absolute (Divine) remains. It is my personal belief that this mantra is a key to understanding our existence, and also gives us insight into where psychic phenomena come from. We are all interconnected through a Divine matrix, but the daily perception of our experience is that of duality or separateness. We do not consciously share our awareness with trees or 26 Psychic Guidepost

other people, but the Divine matrix is still present whether we recognize it or not.

So, how does this explain psychic phenomena? These are my theories, but that being said, they are theories that have their roots in various spiritual traditions. We may never fully understand psychic phenomena, but it is my personal conviction that it happens when a level of the Divine consciousness seeps through into the consciousness of an individual. Some individuals experience intense empathic impressions, where they can experience the emotions of another individual, while others communicate with ghosts or ultraterrestrial beings, such as the Angels

You and I are all as much continuous with the physical universe as a wave is continuous with the ocean ~ Alan Wilson Watts

and Guides that observe and influence our everyday lives. The veil of duality is slightly removed for people who have these abilities and they can peek in and interact with these beings. Many psychics can also see into the future, and transcend the duality of time. This is also a manifestation of the Absolute, since the Absolute transcends even time itself. It is my theory that each psychic ability is a manifestation of the Absolute making itself known through the Absolute. I believe that through every spiritual gift or talent, whether great or small, we are as humans experiencing the transcendent nature of the Divine. Whether it is the person manifesting the gift, or the recipient, both are being reminded that there is more going on in the Universe than our own individual experience. No matter how separate we think we are from everything and everyone else, the truth is that the Absolute within you remains Absolute, regardless of how you feel, and nothing can separate you from that Love.

BREAKING MYTHS ABOUT SPIRITUAL OCCUPATIONS

emonic possession. It can conjour up images of a little girl named Regan who vomits green pea soup while doing a great owl impersonation, spinning her head around in a bone crunching 360. In reality, spiritual occupation looks nothing like it does in the movies. It goes by unnoticed. It consumes relationships with betrayal and abuse, destroys faith, and feeds off of the fear it creates. A demonite, (lower energy or a lesser demon) is the most common “occupier”. They usually stay for a moment, or a few hours, or a day, but they

These can be shaken off of the aura as easily as flicking a bug off of your shirt. They serve to destroy and drain, and normally flee at the first sight of the Light.

gives the person some sort of enhanced ability (usually artistic and self-serving in nature). Some physical signs of spiritual occupation are:

A demon is an entity that stays for longer periods and isn’t easily swayed by the Light. Removing their attachment is a miracle, because that is what it takes. It can be introduced to the person years before the “occupation” begins. It can begin as the result of surviving years of betrayal or abuse during development, which can leave a person afraid to trust anyone, even in their own self or God. When a demon decides to attach for a long period, there is a relationship that builds between the two souls. An exchange of energy takes place.

• High blood pressure

Just as the demon serves to keep the person buried in despair, the demon also

And here comes the one we don’t like to see... • Mesmorizing, charismatic artistry in their profession, the person magically draws people in, has admirers and followers, “regulars”, people will believe anything this person says or does and think its amazing, and not really know why (it’s the basis of the old saying, “I sold my soul to the devil”). Notice I didn’t add anything

like “unexplained scratches” or “objects flying off of shelves” to that list. That is something found when a spirit is in the home, not in the person. A demon doesn’t want to make you aware of its presence. It has no intention of rocking your boat, and losing its energy supply. If you’re looking at the list of physical signs of spiritual occupation and find one or two things on the list that look familiar, there’s no need to run and get a priest. Someone who is being occupied usually has every marker. Although, it wouldn’t hurt to pray, do some self evaluation, and smudge your home with white sage.

As people in contact with the unseen world beyond the veil... we are especially sensitive, so take the extra few minutes each day, to find your center, and protect yourself. The growing use of Psychics in Business and Finance From Soothsayer to Financial Intuitive Consultant: Times Have Changed but the Need for Insight into Matters of Money and Business Remains the Same.

I

t takes unnerving will, and a high dose of foolishness, to run into the bunker of an opposing fighting brigade without weapons. One may quickly find herself in need of more than just hands and legs to shield off an enemy’s attack. That visual aside, that is how I’ve always equated the use of astrologers, psychics, seers, or clairvoyants in times of distinct market uncertainty: as weapons to fight off the attacks of business losses and economic uncertainty. I apparently am not alone in this idea as I have recently found myself talking more and more to clients who are seasoned investors, and even professional market theorists, looking for that which number-crunching alone can not get them: intuitive insight. Investors’ concern about growing worldwide national debts is becoming palpable, causing highly unpredictable fluctuations in the world economy with many, formally staid, segments of the market showing signs of unprecedented decline. Many younger investors and business owners have begun to seek out advisers who not only understand business and formal consulting methods, but also have an ability to sense the cycles of energy around us, making for better overall business and financial decisions.

30 Psychic Guidepost

I want to highlight the socioeconomic and spiritual attributes of this new class of client: They are well educated, often spiritual but non-denominational, practical in theory, matter of fact in their terms, and hopeful of getting straight, actionable intuitive answers to their business financial questions. Since the bottom fell out of the housing market, there has been a

regular swing in recent years of business owners using intuitives or psychics to help come up with better business practices and create needed structural changes in their organizations. Some small businesses use psychics during tough times. This usually happens when all else fails and open minded business owners begin looking for last resort measures. Learning to be acutely sensitive to the movement of energies in the business cycles around us can help any speculator or small business in this uncertain environment. Professional Intuitives interested in bridging this form of consulting work with their natural clairvoyant, empathic or intuitive abilities would need to go to college to study economic theory, business administration and/ or psychology; or they will need to have an extensive work history in business management, psychology, or coaching. A professional intuitive consultant with a degree in business administration, psychology or economic theory can usually find more demanding and lucrative contracts than an intuitive with no formal education. A professional intuitive with a broad breadth of business experience can find work as a small business consultant even without having a degree of formal coaching certification. Often though, these consultants command less lucrative contracts. A professional intuitive with a degree in business, economic theory or a coaching certificate from IFC or IAC and professional consulting experience under her belt can work with larger companies and retain more

lucrative and challenging assignments. For some expert intuitives, this could be an exciting change of pace from relationship readings. That low pitched hum of nature’s clock ticks away to another difficult year of instability. An intuitive business consultant usually has to predict market changes before they happen, so having a professional intuitive on retainer can be a powerful tool for many business owners. In times like these, it makes even more sense for investors and business owners to use every tool in their arsenal to keep their portfolios and businesses growing. This surely includes extraordinarily intuitive people who have some experience or education in business, investment or psychology. An intuitive business consultant looks into energy surrounding a business and advises actions to help achieve a desired goal. An adviser can be technical and more nuanced in his language or more comprehensive in terms depending on his knowledge levels of the financial markets and business trends. Last year, I advised four corporate clients, all in similar product segments, to maintain high liquidity levels as I sensed changes in buying trends which were not yet tracking or corresponding on paper. This advice saved money. It shored up operational funds and gave one company the resources to retake its market share. Practical intuitive guidance is based on actionable, common sense measures. It is becoming standard practice to see professional intuitives contracted to help open minded HR Autumn 2013

He had all the technical skills and book-sense in the world for evaluating a security offer for his clients, but he relied on those things solely and lost money for his clients in the process. It was this folly of going by the numbers only that was killing his business. Mondez Durden True, compassionate and honest clairvoyant insight has helped world leaders, merchants and everyday people make sound personal and financial decisions for thousands of years, but it has at times been seen as a taboo. Now, utilizing it along with advancements in interpersonal communication facilitation and personal financial education, we can see the gift of intuition for what it truly is: A potent tool for personal, spiritual and business developement. It has been a year and a half since I started to help him build on his natural intuition, and the confidence to use it. That is what an intuitive business consultant does: not only does she consult the client using her intuition, but she supports the client by helping him learn to use his own intuition. My client’s firm has shed many of its bad habits and has had 5 adequate fiscal quarters since then. The partners were able to draw a salary for the first time a few months ago. They have capital left over to put in a high interest investment account for future operational costs and future growth. Their last quarter was 3% percent off from where they want to be, but their quarterly numbers have been far better overall. They’ve referred me to eight fellow business owners, and from that list I have added new referrals. This only happened because one partner was willing to come to a trained business intuitive, but this is happening more and more. Noted investment and business intuitives like Arch Crawford, Laura Day and Lynn Robinson are examples of the mainstreaming of psychic, empathic, intuitive and astrological advice in the business community, which sorely needs a new way of thinking. Through their actions, many companies are beginning to recognize the value of intuition and psychic insight. Running a business or investing in the market can be scary prospects. If one is a business owner with an open mind, but falling profits, he should take the time to look for a qualified psychic, clairvoyant or intuitive whose expertise can possibly translate into growth and business success. If one is a professional intuitive, psychic, empath or astrologer, she should think about expanding her business beyond personal readings. As we grow as a culture and become more open to esoteric measures, this will likely be a niche market with plenty of rewarding challenges and changes for growth. ~ Mondez Durden www.mondezdurden.com

Day of the Dead A celebration of Life!

I

n Mexican and Latin communities throughout the world, “Dia de Muertos” (Day of the Dead) is observed on November 1st and 2nd in festivities to honour, commune with, pray for, and celebrate deceased loved ones as they visit the physical world in spirit on these special days. Related to the Catholic holidays of All Souls Day and All Saints Day, these celebrations have been tied to societies in preHispanic and ancient Mexico as well. Between October 30th and November 1st, it is believed that the souls of children visit first and in many areas November 1st is typically “Día de los Angelitos” (Day of the Little Angels) the

day of celebrating departed children, and November 2nd for the adults. This festival time is planned throughout the year and is much anticipated with families beginning preparations and making special foods and decorations well in advance. On October 30th or 31st preparations begin with home altars that are decorated with special brightly coloured artwork, special objects, toys, candles and foods called “ofrendas” (offerings) which are designed to delight and attract visiting spirits. In some communities, actual grave sites are cleaned and painted and festooned with beautiful arches of flowers and thousands of candles as well

as all the offerings. This is an amazing site to behold on festival nights with bands of music and families streaming in to celebrate. The ofredas and objects all have specific significance. Beautiful Mexican marigolds called “Flor de Muerto” (Flower of the Dead) are placed in elaborate arrangements as well as painted and created out of tissue paper – their scent, along with burning copal incense, is said to draw spirits near. Photographs of loved ones and Saints appear along with objects the departed loved in life stand next to beautiful trays of candies, fruits, vegetables and a special treats. One such treat is the sweet, egg bread called “Pan de Muerto” (bread of the dead) which is made into special shapes like Autumn 2013

people, animals, crosses, etc. the breads may be plain or covered with special seeds. Children spirits have special mini-Pan de Muerto and tiny plates and cups. A loved one’s favourite meal (usually Tamales or something elaborate to make or usually reserved for special occasions) is also on display along with traditional liquors and beverages such as mescal, tequila, and atole, an ancient thick corn beverage. Soda pop and beers are often displayed as well as any special treats or candies that a loved one especially liked. Traditional candies are pumpkin candies and chocolates but PopRocks, chewing gum, and modern candies are sometimes set out too (Sometimes you might even see chewing tobacco or cigarettes!) The most famous treat, of course, are the elaborately decorated and colourful sugar skulls called “calaveras de azúcar” that come in many shapes and sizes – often bearing the name of a loved one. They’re made in a similar way as sugar-Easter eggs that most people are familiar with. The spirits are said to consume the “essence” of the foods so loved ones still on Earth may eat them or give them out later. Objects such as games or toys are placed for children and for adults, special mementos and photographs are displayed. Music is played and special 36 Psychic Guidepost

poems (often humorous ) about the deceased person are read and beautiful works of art are often created. One influential artist named José Guadalupe Posada created the modern iconography closely associated with the festivities with the etching he created shortly before his death in 1913, “La Calavera Catrina” (The Elegant Skull) featuring a skeleton wearing a floral hat. Dancing skeletons, skeleton mariachi bands and floral skulls are now popular motifs for artwork and skulls with flowers are an icon for the Day of the Dead celebrations. While the Day of the Dead may look like “Mexican Halloween” to some, with skulls and candles and candy, the holiday isn’t supposed to be just silly nor is it intended to be spooky. Death is presented in the celebration as a certainty of life. In our American/Western culture, death is seen as something to avoid and the topic of our impending mortality is avoided at all costs,

but in the Day of the Dead, death is embraced. Prayers are read and told and loved ones swap stories and share funny or touching anecdotes about the loved ones who have passed on so that future generations and all members of a family can know more about who the loved ones were in life and to celebrate the gift of life. In this way death is looked at as a part of natural life and a sense of continuity and bonding comes from sharing stories about the past. This story telling and connecting to loved ones in ritual is not unique just to Mexico – many countries the world over celebrate the deceased and cultures in Africa and Asia have similar celebrations to the Day of the Dead.

South American Day of the Dead a memoir by Susan Baumann, translated from Spanish to English

A

rgentina In my childhood, I remember as boring as Day of the Dead is celebrated on November 2. Generally, we went to the cemetery to visit the graves of our grandparents buy the flowers, fix-, and then go eat with the family. As it was a religious holiday, we could meet all included uncles and cousins. Also celebrated All Saints Day yesterday, November 1st. Only when I came to the United States began to see the celebration of Halloween-Halloween-like a fun party. In Argentina there was no such thing, but now the influence of this holiday has expanded to the south of the continent because youngsters love any excuse to dress up and have fun. 38 Psychic Guidepost

When we arrived in June of 1990 to this country, my children were immediately interested in the celebration of Halloween. Despite not having many buddies still dress up and go for a walk around the neighborhood gave them a sense of belonging, and as immigrant children, that was what they were concerned about at the time.

start of these traditions was not as emotional. The Day of the Dead was a traditional celebration of the native peoples of pre-Columbian Mexico that began 3000 years ago. His start seems to be at the Olmecs, who passed the tradition to other cultures as the Toltecs, Zapotecs, Mixtecs, Mayans, Aztecs, Purepecha, Totonac nahual .

What is the origin of the Day of the Dead? A popular belief says there are three stages of death: that begins when the soul leaves the body, which occurs when buried the dead, and the last when no one remembers of that left. For this, and for keeping alive the memory of our loved ones and to avoid final death, is the celebrated and invites them to return. But the

The Aztecs had the celebration during the Aztec month Miccailhuitontli, covering approximately July 24 to August 12. The festival was chaired by Mictecacihuatl Goddess, Lady of the dead and Huitzilopochtli, the god of war. The rites were divided on the day of the dead children and adults day. The arrival of the Spanish

When Spanish conquistadors arrived in the fifteenth century, they found that many indigenous human sacrifices to their gods to thank your blessings, the battles won or crops harvested. As the story goes, horrified by such practices, and in an attempt to convert to Catholicism, changed the original celebration month with All Saints Day, a holiday celebrating their Catholic saints, and Souls Day, which calls for the dead and those souls in purgatory. Saints Day is also celebrated the day after Halloween or All Hallows Day, a day linked to the Celtic festival of Samhain, and preserved in Celtic and Gaelic tradition in the British Isles. In ancient Irish language, Samhain means roughly “summer’s end.” Halloween is set about 200 years after the Catholic Church determined Saints Day. The cultural difference between the Day of the Dead as Mexican tradition and celebrated Halloween in the United States is that while the former is a day of celebration and joy that remembers and greets loved ones departed, Halloween or Night Halloween is a day when the dead were appeased with earthly matters pending which can not rest in peace, and combat the forces of evil. Despite the resistance of indigenous people to abandon their beliefs, the result of Spanish pressure led to a conclusion that mixes the ancient pagan traditions with Catholic religious beliefs.

In some regions of Mexico, the festivities start around October 18 and extend until November 5. But in most cases, the main traditions are held from 31 October to 2 November. Although the dates change, the general sense of the festival remains. * October 27 ~ They offer bread and jugs of water to the souls of those who have no living relatives 28 ~ They offer bread and jugs of water to those souls that caused much damage or committed murder. Because they are souls in sin, offerings are placed outside the house or in the corner of a church. 30 ~ Children who are in limbo, or who died without being baptized this day back. 31 ~ The angels, or the children who died after being baptized, returned this day. *November 1 ~ It is celebrated on All Saints Day. In some regions, is the Día de los Muertos Chiquitos or Day of the Dead. On this day, the souls of the children leave, and redouble bells to call adult souls. 2 ~ is reminiscent of All Souls Day. A feast also Catholic, the living help the departed to leave Purgatory and reach Heaven. Masses are celebrated for the souls of the devotees. Usually the last day of the holiday, the Day of the Dead festivities and culminates with glee.

Celebrated on November 1 and 2, Day of the Dead honors the memory of departed souls, welcoming them back to celebrate the best of life. Families decorate grave sites with marigolds and set up stunning altars. Streets flutter with paper banners. Store windows glisten with sugar skulls. Skeleton figures grin rakishly from every corner. I was in a foggy room, and keep in mind I was 17 years old and a very impatient person. To my right was a tunnel which looked like swirling opals in the sunlight. I knew at this time I was not meant to go down this tunnel, just to wait for someone to come to me with a message. To this day I cannot remember the message, but it changed my life forever. I now know that there is no pain in the afterlife, only the pain for those we leave behind do we feel. Since that day I was lead down a different path, one of service to others, which was a path that I could not refuse no matter how much I wanted to at the time. I now consider myself a prophet. True prophets are made out of hard lives and growing better not bitter. That is why we are blessed to see the future and lead a life of service if we choose, and I would be happy to help you on the journey of your current life path. Fortunately I now realize where the often misunderstood path has lead me to and why I was brought here. Along my path I have been blessed with many good teachers, college classes, the support of a good partner and many personal experiences all of which combine in order to help my clients. And I would be happy to help you as well.

T

he Doppelganger Effect can be a shocking experience indeed. This phenomenon has been well documented throughout history. One of the better recorded cases was of Abraham Lincoln seeing his Doppelganger. It was documented by a close friend of his by the name of Noah Brooks while he spoke of the vision. Shortly after his election in 1860 while resting on his couch he looked in the mirror and saw himself standing, only the image had two faces to it. One of the faces on the image was in his words “a little paler-say 5 shades- than the other”. Out of shock he stood up only to find the other image vanished leaving only his own. A few days later he returned to his couch and saw the image again this time he felt sadness as it gazed back into his eyes. Later he tried to reenact the experience for his wife to no avail. Mary told him she felt it was a bad omen. His response to her was he felt he would be re-elected but not live through his second term. What is a Doppelganger though by definition? The word Doppelganger itself is German in origin and means Doppel (double) and ganger (walker) this word was first seen in text in 1796. It found its way into the English text in 1851 and has now become a well-known word among many. However the meaning behind the word is much older than that as its meaning appears in many ancient myths and cultures. It means to see ones double image or for someone to see a double image of another person. In most folklore and myths it is said to be a bad omen. It’s rumored that if your Doppelganger is seen by another person then it is a sign of illness, bad luck, or injury to come. If you see your own Doppelganger than it’s told it is an omen of death.

42 Psychic Guidepost

Seeing Double Many believe this to be true in the Ancient Egyptian times it was called “Ka” meaning spirit double. In Norse mythology it was known as a “Vardoger”, and the Celts believed it to be a version of the “Ankou” meaning death. Having had a Doppelganger issue myself I can understand how terrifying it can be to yourself and others who know you. The first of the two occurrences happened while I was working in a factory in the small town I’m from. A lady working there who has known me since I was a toddler came up to me with a puzzled look. When I asked her if she was ok she replied by asking me why I had changed clothes so fast. I assured her that I hadn’t changed my clothes and that was the first time I had seen her that day. She was very adamant that we had spoken only minutes earlier

and was able to recall the conversion. That same day yet another coworker approached me to ask if I had finished what I was working on in the warehouse. I informed the co-worker I had not been in the warehouse and didn’t know what he was talking about. He said I had been and he had spoken to me but I must have been very busy because I didn’t reply. Later on that day we had a new hire lose his fingers in one of the machines. The second happened with my husband and it was a frightening set of events to say the least. I was woke out of a dead sleep by him shaking me and calling my name. Then I realized that something was wrong, bad wrong judging by the look on his face. He asked me if I was up walking around our bedroom. I told

The Doppelganger Effect him no and how could I have been when he had just woke me. He then went on to describe “me” he said I was walking around the room looking for something. He stated I had said his name and that’s what woke him and when he opened his eyes there was a perfect me at the foot of the bed. When he started to sit up and answer “me” he put his hand down on my side of the bed only to find me sleeping. I can happily report that nothing has happened to me from either incident. Scientists have conducted studies of how this could be possible. In 2006 the scientific journal reported that when the left temporoparietal junction was simulated the effect was similar to the Doppelganger effect. This was done using electromagnetic stimulation on the left side of the brain. The left temporoparietal junction of the brain evokes the

sensation of self-image—body location, position, posture, etc. When the temoroparietal side of the brain is disturbed it was send out an image of one’s self that can sometimes be distorted but will show similar body posture and actions. Science has yet to explain the phenomenon being witnessed by others however. Be it myths and folklore or scientific game of the mind the Doppelganger effect is a fascinating occurrence. This phenomenon is still happening today and being recorded in more depth. The one thing that is clear from all the research is we will never know all the secrets of this wonderful Universe. Not knowing though is what keeps the myths and folklore alive, and sometimes that’s the best thing. Blessed Be )O( Aoibhin The Pagan Raven

Autumn Equinox

T

he Autumnal or Fall Equinox occurs on September 22 at 20:44 UTC. The Sun shines directly on the equator and there will be nearly equal amounts of day and night throughout the world. This is also the first day of fall (autumnal equinox) in the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of spring (vernal equinox) in the Southern Hemisphere. The autumnal equinox is the first day of fall. It is celebrated by many different cultures and plays a significant role in some beliefs like Wicca. For most people, fall is a time that ushers in harvests, preserving food for the upcoming months, enjoyment of the colors of the changing leaves

44 Psychic Guidepost

and beginning to prepare oneself both physically and psychologically for the upcoming colder months. For Keats, the famous poet, fall was the “season of mists and mellow fruitfulness”. A beautiful season, fall is filled with color, crisp days and provides an excuse to indulge in great foods. And it all begins with the first day of fall––here are some fun ways to celebrate the autumnal equinox. Understand the meanings associated with the autumnal equinox. This is the day when both the daytime and nighttime are of the same length, which has been long interpreted to mean that the world is in balance. Once the autumnal equinox passes, the nights begin to get longer and the temperatures will start to fall. Autumn is a time of dual purpose––it is time to

gather the main harvests and it is time to determine what is needed for the upcoming winter. This is also about balance and as such, fall is considered the season of balance, a time during which you can restore balance to your own life. Consider staying up during the night to welcome autumn. Many people like to welcome in fall by remaining awake all night, to honor the equal length of day and night. Perhaps tie this in with a celebration with friends, by holding a small dinner party which features autumn flavors, such as squash, pears and apples. If you’re not so keen on an all-night vigil, stay up until midnight instead. Build or set up a monument to autumn. If you want to share your joy at the arrival

of fall, consider building or placing a monument featuring autumnal items like pumpkins and straw in your yard. Ideas for what to do include a scarecrow or an animal you like, a pattern, or even spelling out words such as “Welcome to fall!”. Your monument could also be an expression of your gratitude for the harvest from the Earth. Be creative. For those who love craft, it’s a great time to start some fall-inspired craft. There are all sorts of fall crafts you might like to try. A few ideas include: Carve some shrunken apple heads, make leaf prints, craft a fall wreath, frame fall foliage for decoration and use harvested corn to make corn stalk decorations. For those who love food craft, fall is the ideal time to get into making preserves, pickles, bottles of drink, sauces and frozen goodies. Make a list of your inner harvest. An inner harvest refers to all the achievements and experiences that you have had or felt during the past few seasons. This is a way of restoring gratitude into your life, as you realize what you have done and how you have coped with challenges during the past months. Take this opportunity to consolidate your energy and to fine-tune what you’ve achieved since spring. Be grateful for what you have. Express your fall awe. If you’re a photographer, artist or writer, try to capture the essence of fall in photo, artwork or word form. Don’t just focus on the changing leaves and bountiful harvests; consider the deeper meanings of the season as they resonate with you. Perhaps this is a time of necessary change for you and expressing this through your creativity is a great way to get started. Contemplate. This is a season when the buzzing activity of summer dies down and the excitement of life outdoors begins to relax into the more evenly paced, more predictable rhythm of fall. Think about the ways you have neglected your inner growth and how this might be remedied. Meditate or do tai-chi. Try to find your balance, in the same way that the world finds its balance on the autumnal equinox. Seek to improve your health. This is as good a time as any to restore healthful balance to your life. There are delicious foods from harvest to help you cleanse and keep to a healthy diet at this time of year, such as apples, grapes, peaches, plums, pears, watermelon, celery, squash, eggplants, tomatoes, zucchini, bell peppers and more. All of these healthy foods can be incorporated into a healthful lifestyle diet that Autumn 2013

keeps you fit and energetic. Where you can, support the growers of organic produce, which helps to sustain healthier soils and wildlife as part of the growing balance. Weigh yourself. On the day of the fall equinox, the sun enters the sign of Libra, the constellation of scales. Are you happy with the weight reflected back at you? If not, what do you wish to do about it? If you’re not already exercising regularly, make today the day you begin exercising again. Start with gentle exercise that allows you to ease into the rhythm, such as stretches, walking yoga or pilates. Take up an exercise that you’ve long wanted to try, such as cycling, jogging or swimming. Most sports can be continued either outdoors or in indoor arenas during winter, so don’t let the colder days ahead put you off sparking this change. Focus on improving your breathing and posture. Good breathing and posture will help to restore energy to your body and can help you cope better with the respiratory illnesses the colder months bring. Turn your home into a haven. Fall is the time of the year when people begin to turn from outdoor pursuits and start moving back indoors more often. (Of course, this shouldn’t stop you from making the most of the glorious sunny fall days outside!) This is a good time to restore balance in the home, to give it a spruce up before the upcoming fall celebrations such as Halloween and Thanksgiving come and before winter arrives. Add some fall decorations to bring on the festive fall spirit. Hanging a fall wreath outside signals your warmth toward fall’s arrival. 46 Psychic Guidepost

Bring more light into your home. As the days will start to shorten from the autumnal equinox, consider how you’ll be able to bring more light into your home. Consider making some homemade candles and check out ways to hold back window dressings so that more light can stream inside. Good lighting will keep your spirits buoyed. Don’t neglect the energies in your workplace either. Now is a good time to clear out the clutter on the desk, shift around furniture and even trade places with another person. Remove things that have piled up in corners, replace worn signs and refresh the communal drink and food items. Get into your garden. After summer and after the harvests, your garden needs some tender loving care to ready it for winter. The autumnal equinox is a good day to jot down a plan for the following weeks of garden care ahead, to keep you organized and enthused about readying it for the colder months. It’s also the ideal time to plant some crops that will produce during fall or even into winter, such as cauliflower, lettuce, red beet, radishes and shallots. Plan for when spring bulbs should be planted too, as many must be dug into the ground during fall. Honor your ancestors. In Japan, it is traditional to visit the graves of ancestors around the time of the autumn equinox. This is a thoughtful tradition to build on for your own life, as a way of reconnecting with the past of your family and to remind yourself of your valuable place in the family tree. “O wild and wondrous midnight, There is a might in thee To make the charmed body Almost like spirit be, And give it some faint glimpses Of immortality.” ~James Russell Lowell, Midnight New Moon Lore: When a person sees the new moon for the first time, they are to bow to it three times in honor of the ancient Egyptian trinity; Osiris, Isis, and Horus (father, mother, and son). Good Luck: - The new moon is an auspicious time for planting, courtship, starting a new business, or beginning a trip. - In order to promote faster growth, a new moon is the best time to cut your hair and fingernails. - According to an old English tradition, when a new wife sees the new moon for the first time after her wedding, she should quickly turn down her bed to ensure a happy marriage. - At first sight of the new moon, flip a silver coin and make a wish. - Seeing a new moon on a Monday will bring you good luck. - When you see a new moon over your right shoulder, it ensures good times ahead. - If you see the new moon for the first time and are holding something in both of your hands, you will never want for anything. - A wish made while looking at new moon will come true within a year.

MOON MAGIC

Bad Luck: - It is unlucky to view the first new moon through glass objects or trees, it is also unlucky to point directly at the new moon. - It is bad luck to dig a grave or bury a body during a new moon. Weather: - If a new moon occurs on a Monday, then the weather will be clear. - If a new moon occurs on a Saturday, then there will be twenty days of wind and rain. - If a new moon occurs on a Sunday, there will be a flood before the month’s end. - The strongest storms and hurricanes are likely to be 1-3 days after a new moon and 3-5 days after a full moon. AND FINALLY FOR SINGLE WOMEN Glance at the moon over your right shoulder and say: New moon, new moon, true and bright, If I have a lover let me dream of him tonight. If I am to marry far, let me hear a bird cry; If I am to marry near, let me hear a cow low; If I am to marry never, let me hear a hammer knock.

elationships and communication look to be in the spotlight for you with Mercury giving you an extra advantage in communication and Venus adding extra weight (in a good way) to your love life. Take advantage of these 2 planets and use the gifts they give you to smooth over any rough patches you are having with your partner. Later, as Venus joins Saturn in Scorpio you may find you are just itching to go digging around to find out something that has been bothering you for a while. If you find yourself wanting to do this it may not be the answer you find that bothers you but the effect it has on you and how you react to it.

enus will be in your area of work making this a good time to put your head down and get on with the job at hand. However, it’s not all about work for you it is also about relationships and how they are possibly holding you back from being who you are. Venus and Saturn are both in your relationship area. When Venus comes into contact with Saturn it has the effect of pulling your emotions inwards giving you the feeling that you cannot share what is in your heart making you a bit nervous. This period doesn’t last forever. However, while it does you may wish to explore your true feelings and question any areas that you are feeling a little nervous about.

Venus moves into your work area at that time to join Saturn (planet of hard work and wisdom). On the bright side you may find that you actually enjoy your job and want to get on with it. On an even brighter side someone at work may catch your eye and you find yourself involved in a workplace romance. With Jupiter in your twelfth house though you may wish to check this person out thoroughly and not rush into anything without knowing all the facts. You may find they hold secrets of the biggest kind and you don’t want to get burned.

hat do they say about lucky in love? You may have the answer to that as Venus comes into a favorable alignment with Jupiter currently in your sign. Venus planet of love and Jupiter planet of luck working alongside each other give a huge boost to your love life whilst at the same time making it all seem easy for you. Who could ask for more? Well from the 16th to the 22nd you may be asking for more or asking more of yourself in the form of do “I really want this”, is it right for me, am I happy and what can I do to change things? All, perhaps, hard questions but all with the power of Saturn backing you up to find the right answers.

ars is in your sign agiving you some extra energy and allowing you to get more done than you thought was possible. Around mid season it will be trining Uranus so be on the look out for life moving at a faster pace at this time and also make sure you don’t trip yourself up over something minor that could come back to haunt you later. Saturn may cause you a few frustrations and it is best to just sit back and watch events take their course than trying to push forward with what you want and being frustrated when things don’t go your way. This may not be easy for you but it sure will be an interesting.

he sun is in your sign giving you some extra energy to be in your own skin and feel comfortable. Mercury is your ruling planet so feels right at home in Virgo and also makes for a great time to do some thinking, planning and sorting through any type of communication you need to get on top of. The communication could be just talking something through with another and coming up with options that suit you both. Your mind will be working sharply so don’t let anything or anyone waylay you and get you off track to suit their purposes. A new moon on the 5th also helps with getting your thoughts in order and your life on track.

our ruling planet Venus is giving your love life that extra boost. Make sure that anything you want to change around your relationship is done while Venus is in your sign as it will be easier, smoother and give you a better outcome than if you wait for it to change signs. Although, upon saying this you do have Mercury moving into your sign which also bodes very well for communication and any talks you are thinking of initiating. Avoid putting any plans into motion as Mercury squares Jupiter and you may find you have missed crucial detail in your plans or that things are not going as smoothly as you had thought they would.

t may be time for some deep thinking in relation to your “self” and what you want in your love life. This is because it may be you are not in the mood to think outside the box or entertain the idea of anyone else’s feelings apart from your own. This is when Venus and Saturn come into conjunction with each other in your own sign. Venus is the planet of love and Saturn is the planet of wisdom… it is also the planet of hard lessons. So it’s not hard to see that you may be doing a bit of self reflection on what you want and not the other person during this time. Make it count. If you have any changes you think you need to make then come up with a plan to carry them out.

Great time for meditation or anything that gets you more in touch with your spirituality and if you have been thinking of joining a class in yoga, meditation, healing you may find that you meet some very interesting people thereromantically speaking. The moon in your relationship area finds you in a curious mood as Jupiter (your ruling planet) and Venus trine each other and put you in the mood for digging for the truth… and you know how that can turn out!

If this is the case you are best advised to approach this in a practical, systematic, unassuming way. You may have trouble if you find out something you did not want to know especially about your love life. Take care with especially when the moon is in your relationship area and emotions are heightened for you along with Jupiter, known for blowing things out of the water at the most inopportune time!

elationships take a center stage for you and possibly not for all the right reasons. Mars is travelling through this area of your chart and Mars means war if the energy is not handled correctly. Of course sometimes a good quarrel may be what is needed to clear the air between you and your partner but you also need to bear in mind that things could get out of hand with Mars in its current position. Take care when Saturn also weighs in on this combination from Mars and your sun sign with possibly frustrations and setbacks that I’m sure you don’t need… let’s face it who does? The good news things will get better

ercury is in your relationship area giving you a chance to allow yourself to be heard. Make this time count and bring to the table anything you want to talk through with your partner because the Sun (also in your relationship area) will be shining the light on your love life making this a great time to sort out anything that has been troubling you. Pisceans will have it pretty good month as Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune along with the node and Lilith all come into alignment at various times to form a trine to your sun sign. This is very good for sifting through emotions and getting rid of anything that is not in your best interests emotionally.

Short history of playing cards The history of playing cards goes back at least 500 years, through many people think playing cards were created over 1,000 years ago. The use of playing cards was first recorded in India and China. These early cards resembled the decks of today. People thought of the cards as accurate ways to predict the future and highly regarded any psychic or medium who had knowledge of them. The tradition of playing cards travelled from Western Asia to Egypt, then to North Africa. From there they finally surfaced in Europe. One theory, states that the Arabs and Moors introduced the cards to the Spaniards in 1379. In Spain, people called the cards Naibi, which means “to foretell”. Even according to this theory, the cards were first known for divination and not for playing games. It was the Europeans who began to use the cards for amusement or to win money. One of the possible reasons for this is that this change is likely to be the result of the Spanish Inquisition. The Christian Church come down hard on anyone who was a psychic, card reader or astrologer – hundreds were burn at the stake. In the 15th centaury, a deck composed of 56 cards divided into four suits. The court cards were kind, Queen, Chevalier and Valet and ten point cards. Later one of the court cards was rejected, bring the basic card deck to its present number of 52. The Spanish threw out the Queen’ the French brought her back and tossed out the Chevalier. The German packs rejected the Queen and introduced the Obermann, a superior Knight. The English had no preference and accepted either the French or Spanish decks. Throughout all these additions and deletions, there have always been four suits – although not always similar to the present-day suits.

The original four were: Cups – equalling faith; Swords – equalling justice; Coins – equalling money and charity and Clubs – equalling strength. These suits still remain in old Spanish and Italian decks. Old German decks have four suits: Bells, leaves, heart and Acorns. Hungarians use a similar deck of cards for playing games. Back in the 15th century, the French were already using Spades, Hearts, Clubs and Diamond. From the 15th century on, the hidden lore of the cards quietly spread throughout Europe and onto North and South America. Wherever gambling went, readings followed. The meaning between playing card reading is basically totally different and you cannot use tarot card meanings for playing cards. The only time this is not the case is with the Wish Card which is the 9 of Cups/Hearts – the meaning is the same along with the 4 of Spades/Swords – time out needed – possible ill health.

We will know our place in the world and in the universe. I personally feel in the next 100 years humanity will embrace the concept of searching and moving forward with purpose and meaning. Our higher power will be consciousness and our understanding of it as spiritual beings with human experiences on this planet we call Earth. Dating? Avoid Online Romeos 5 Signs your online lover is a scammer

T

here are dozens of dating sites out there and most are pretty reputable, but what you have to watch out for is the type of people you meet on the sites. Match.com or eHarmony.com and even Facebook, are sites to help people make a love connection but they are also filled with predators who are simply out to get your money and break your heart in the process. 62 Psychic Guidepost

These predators usually target recent widows, widowers and the disabled. The overwhelming number of people are usually older women. However older and disabled men are also targets. Criminal rings, usually in foreign countries, organize to search the net for recent widows or widowers, then post a picture, a profile and commence to “wooing or sweet talking someone to fall for them.

These people usually pose as, wealthy businessmen, soldiers, missionaries, or just regular Joe’s who act like they are looking for love and companionship. If they wish to attract a man, they post an attractive female or someone they feel the man will fall in love with according to his online profile. Here are the signs that your online connection may not be the ideal love of your life.

1.

Don’t speak English: If your online person claims to speak English but has a lot of misspellings or colloquialisms wrong, then he/she is probably in another country.

2.

Wants money: After two months of online chats, he starts to tell you he needs money. The excuses these people come up with are great. There are three main ones. a) He has been mugged and beaten and needs money. He may even have a “doctor” tell you he is messed up and needs the money. This doctor is most likely part of the scam. b) His daughter/son or mother dies and needs money for the funeral or someone is deathly ill and they need money to prepare for a funeral or health care expenses. c) He is on a trip to come see you and he gets mugged at the airport and wants you to send him money. He’ll write YOU a check, then you can cash it, and send him the money. Most likely the check is from a bogus account or bank.

3.

Tells you he loves you within a couple of weeks of chatting. This is always a red flag for anyone who is looking for a long lasting relationships. Falling in love online is possible as long as you meet the person face to face somewhere along the way to establish a “real” relationship.

4.

Keeps postponing trips to see you. If he hasn’t asked for money, but he keeps saying he cannot afford to come see you for some reason or other then he’s waiting for YOU to offer him the cash. He counts on the anticipation of you meeting him, then he draws back at the last minute to keep you from seeing each other.

5.

Passport: If the scammer sends you a copy of his passport, but looks computerized and the picture looks like a modeling agency took it, most likely it’s not a real passport. If you feel your online lover is not a scammer and you still wish to send money anyway, consider sending an OCS Trust instead of direct Western Union or MoneyGram or PayPal. OCS Trusts are routed from Western Union through the U.S. Department of State; the funds are then deposited directly with the nearest U.S. embassy and consulate overseas for pick up by your loved one. Please call the Office of Overseas Citizens Services at 1-888-407-4747 to verify the person’s citizenship BEFORE sending money. If the individual is not really a U.S. citizen, they cannot process the request and it may take up to one year for funds to be returned to you (minus the $30 processing fee). But at least the money will be returned. For more information visit The U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs (www.travel.state.gov) www.ask-cristina.net

Halloween Baked Bloody Rats I love allrecipes and they have a great idea for meatloaf. This is the creepiest and funniest meatloaf recipe bar none! Ingredients 2 pounds ground beef 1/2 onion, chopped 1 egg, beaten 1 cup dry bread crumbs 1 (1.25 ounce) packet meatloaf seasoning mix 64 Psychic Guidepost

1 cup cubed Cheddar cheese 3 (10 ounce) cans tomato sauce 1 cup white sugar 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 ounce uncooked spaghetti, broken into fourths 1/2 carrot, cut into 1/8-inch thick slices 1 tablespoon frozen green peas Directions 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, egg, bread crumbs, and meatloaf seasoning. Use your hands to mix until well blended. Measure out 1/3 cupfuls of the meat mixture and mold around a cube of cheese like a meatball. Shape into a point at one end and lengthen the body a bit by rolling between your hands. Place your ‚’rat’’ into a shallow

baking dish, and continue with the remaining meat. Insert pieces of uncooked spaghetti into the rounded end of the rats to make tails. 3. In a medium bowl, stir together the tomato sauce, sugar and Worcestershire sauce. Pour over the rats in the dish and cover the dish with a lid or aluminum foil. 4. Bake for 45 minutes in the preheated oven. Uncover the dish and continue to bake for another 20 to 30 minutes, basting occasionally with the sauce to glaze the rats. 5. While the rats finish baking, heat the peas and carrots in a small bowl in the microwave for about 15 seconds. 6. Carefully transfer the rats to a serving platter so that their delicate tails don’t fall off. Press peas into the pointy end to make eyes, and insert carrot slices to make ears.
